Previously on The Bad Twin:
I wish I didn't have to return home. But I had no choice. I had to save her and I had to find out more about her.
Stefan walked over to a cupboard and inside were journals with years written on them. He pulled out a very old one and opened it to reveal two old photos of Elena and Chloe. They were dressed in clothes that were popular back then with their hair curled. Elena's hair was half up with curls cascading down her back. Chloe had all her hair down, framing her face. At the bottom of the photos were two names and a date. Katherine. Anna. 1864.
"Chloe. She's a dead ringer for Anna."
"Hello, brother." Damon greeted, smirking.
"Damon." Stefan said, turning to the balcony.
Damon had appeared and was killing Logan. It wasn't long after that Sheriff Forbes and her deputies came running up and found Logan's dead body.
"There's nothin' about that Logan guy I killed in here. Not a word. Someone's covering it up." Damon said looking through the paper. He tossed the paper down and played with the compass he'd taken from Logan.
"It's a small circle...Founding families, a few city officials." Sheriff Forbes told him.
"And I, of course, will do anything I can to help." Damon told her with a smile.
"Alaric Saltzman. I'm your new history teacher." He introduced before starting the lesson.
"That's a cool ring."
"Oh, thanks. It was my father's."
"I have to leave, Elena. Too many people have died. I can't be a part of your life anymore." Stefan told her.
"Don't go Stefan…" Elena begged him.
"Good-bye, Elena." He told her.
"There's a tomb underneath the church. The spell sealed Anna in that tomb, protecting her." Damon told him. "I'm gunna bring her back."
"I can't free them. I won't." Emily told him.
"No!" Damon begged once more before she threw the necklace into the air and it exploded above us.
"Is there something going on between you and Damon that I need to know about?"
"Even if there was something going on between me and Damon it's none of your business." I told her.
I saw Damon siting on the knocked over wall of the church with tears in his eyes. I walked up behind him and sat next to him leaning my head on his shoulder, hand and fingers interlocked with his.
Alaric walked to the threshold of the door, then stopping.
"I'm not gonna invite you in." Jenna told him.
"Well, some other time then." He told her smiling.
"I was dumped." Jenna told her.
"Again?" I asked her sitting next to them in another chair.
"Logan's a jerk." Elena said giving me a look.
The doorbell rings at the Gilbert house, and Jenna opened the door to find Logan Fell standing on the porch.
"Hello, Jenna." Logan said smiling.
"Logan!" Jenna said shocked.
"Aren't you gonna invite me in?"
"Why are you here, Logan?" Jenna asked him confused.
"I missed you. I was out of town. I..." He tried telling her but she didn't let him continue.
"Yeah, I got that email." She told him.
"You got an email?" he asked her shocked.
"You didn't send an email?" she asked him.
"I can explain. Just invite me in and I'll tell you everything." He tried convincing her.
"I'm not gonna invite you in. Forget it." She told him.
"Come on, Jenna. It's me." He said trying to woo her once more.
"The answer's no." she said holding strong.
"I know you. You're always one step from a "maybe", a tiny nudge to "yes"." He said with a smile on his face. She scoffed.
"You just pointed out that I have no self-control. Clever strategy!" she told him. Logan opened his mouth to say something, but Jenna slammed the door in his face. Logan, clearly frustrated with the way their conversation went, walked to the edge of the porch. He saw one of the neighbors taking out the garbage. He walks down the porch stepped and towards the man.
"Evening." Logan called to him. The man gave him a polite wave and walked back towards his house. Logan walked down onto the sidewalk and watched him leave before breathing out heavily. Suddenly, a woman came jogging around the corner. Logan turned around to look at her. She stared at him as she jogged past before stopping abruptly. Logan turned towards her once more.
"Hey," she said walking up to him. "You're that guy from the news, Logan Fell. I watch you every night. Well, I used to, I mean, you've been missing from my TV."
"I took some time off." He told her.
"I noticed. I'm Daphne." She introduced putting out her hand and shaking it.
"Hey you know something, Daphne?" he asked her.
"No, what?" she asked him with a smile on her face. Logan's eyes started vamping out making Daphne scream before she bit into his neck.
The next morning, Jeremy was up and reading an old journal.
I live in fear. It consumes me. In the early evening when I see the sun begin to fade, the fear comes, because I know that the night brings death.
Jeremy continued to flip through the pages of the journal until he found a loose paper with a sketch drawn on it and became inspired. He pulled out a box from his closet and grabbed an old sketchbook from it. He set the box down and grabbed a piece of charcoal. Flipping through the sketchbook, Jeremy saw all his old sketches making him smile at the memories. He finally found a blank page before he started starts recreating the loose sketch from the journal. I stood in my room grabbing the last things I needed for my outfit. I wore a beige tank, jeans and brown boots. I pulled a red sweater that clasped in the front. I pulled out my red earrings, red and white bracelet, and a gold ring with a deep red gem. I grabbed my scarf that had splashes of red, black, brown, and white on it before grabbing my red purse and leaving my room. I walked into Jeremy's room to make sure he was ready for school before I froze from the sight of him drawing. I smiled remembering Damon's words before going downstairs.
"Jeremy's got his sketch pad out." I told Elena and Jenna joining them as we all got ready to leave.
"You're kidding?" Jenna asked me shocked.
"Nope." I told her getting ready with them.
"Don't say a word." Elena told us. "The minute we encourage him, he'll put it away."
"Psychology major. Check that!" Jenna told me as Elena checked her phone.
"You and Stefan? Update?" Jenna asked her.
"He knows how I feel and where I stand and I know where he stands but it doesn't matter. He's leaving, moving away." She told us as she buttoned up her jacket.
"Where is he going?" Jenna asked her shocked as Elena opened the door for us.
"I've stopped asking questions. The answers get scary." Elena told her.
"No kidding." I said walking out the door.
"Yours leaves, mine returns." Jenna told her.
"Logan?" Elena and I asked.
"He's back." She confirmed making Elena groan. "I didn't let him pass the front door."
"I hope you slammed it in his face." Elena told him.
"A good slam." I added.
"Medium slam." She told us.
"Three strike rule, Jenna. You're not even aloud to watch the news." I told her.
"Exactly. No more Logan "Scum" Fell." Jenna agreed.
Stefan walked into the parlor room where Damon was staring out the window.
"So any idea of where you'll go?" Stefan asked him.
"I don't know. London, maybe. See some friends." Damon told him.
"You don't have any friends, Damon." Stefan reminded him.
"You're right, Stefan. I only have you." Damon said turning towards him. "So, where are we goin'?"
"We are not going anywhere. I'm gonna live my life as far away from you as possible." Stefan told him.
"But we're a team! We could travel the world together. We could try out for "The Amazing Race"." Damon joked walking towards him.
"Mmmm, that's funny. Seriously, where are you going? Because we are not staying in this town." Stefan told him before the doorbell rang. Damon and Stefan both glanced at the door then back to each other. Stefan left the parlor and opened the front door to see Sheriff Forbes.
"I'm here to see Damon." She told him.
"Uh, sure. Ok." Stefan said as Damon came to the doorway.
"Sheriff. What a surprise." Damon told her.
"Sorry to bother you, but we need to talk." She told him.
"Come in." he invited her in. Sheriff Forbes entered the house and followed Damon to the back courtyard as Stefan listened in from inside the house.
"Um, I hope you understand the secrecy. Stefan doesn't know about this yet and I'd like to keep it that way." Damon lied.
"Of course, kids are too young to be brought into this." She said agreeing with his lie thinking of Caroline.
"So, what do you need?" he asked her.
"There's been another attack. A female victim, her throat torn out, completely drained of blood. It fits the pattern." She told him.
"I'm sorry. I don't understand. I thought we solved that problem when I…" Damon glanced back at the house. "…staked the blond one."
"I'm thinking she must have turned someone. Or multiple someones. I don't know. The story for the town is another animal attack but I'm not sure how long we can keep lying to them. The council is in an uproar. We thought we were past this." She sighed.
"So, uh, what do we do?" he asked her.
"You're the only one who's ever taken on a vampire. We were hoping you could tell us." She revealed.
At the high school Caroline and Matt were walking together in the hallway drawing the attention of their friends.
"And then the ballet dancer and the Krumper did the salsa." He said telling her what happened during the movie after she fell asleep.
"Well, I was awake for that part." She told him.
"Well, I don't know when you fell asleep. Umm, did you see the Celine Dion waltz about cancer?" he asked her.
"Those always make me cry!" she told him.
"Yeah, and then the loud judge kept screaming and I couldn't take it, so I turned it off." He told her as they stopped walking and stood to face each other.
"I sat through Family Guy. So, you owe me." She told him poking him in the chest as Elena, Bonnie and I walked down the opposite end of the hall.
"Did I miss something?" Elena asked staring at them.
"They've been hanging out." Bonnie said.
"Kind of weird, don't you think?" Elena asked as Caroline and Matt backed away into their classroom.
"I think it's cute." I said smiling at the pair.
"She needs someone nice like him, as opposed to a homicidal vampire like Damon." Bonnie said and my smile faded remembering him at the ruins last night.
"Yeah, how are you doing with all that?" Elena asked her.
"I'm freaked out. Damon attacked me. I could be dead right now. But I'm also grateful." Bonnie told us.
"Hmm?" Elena looked at her a little confused.
"To Stefan. He saved my life and...Have you seen him?" Bonnie asked her as we arrived at mine and Elena's lockers. We both removed our scarfs and put them in our locker.
"Not since he told me he was leaving. For all I know, he's already gone." She told him as we got what we needed for our first few classes.
"He wouldn't leave without saying goodbye." Bonnie insisted.
"Yes, he would. He thinks he's protecting me. Clean break and all that." She told him.
"So, what are you gonna do?" Bonnie asked her.
"Other than wallow?" I added.
"What am I supposed to do? I've already begged him not to go. If I ask again, I'm being selfish. It is what it is." Elena settled making me roll my eyes as I closed my locker door.
"Settling." I said in a sing-song voice.
"Maybe it's for the best." Bonnie offered making Elena stop and give her a look.
"What? Why?" Elena asked her.
"I mean, what kind of future could you have had with him, even if he stayed?" Bonnie asked her. Suddenly, a banner fell on us that said "The Promise of your Future."
"Did you just...?" I asked Bonnie.
"No, I swear." Bonnie told me. Elena sighed and hit the banner out of her way as she stormed off to her class.
"Oh, God." Bonnie and I shared a glance and a shrug before she followed my twin and I went to class.
Damon walked Sheriff Forbes back to the front door with Stefan sitting in the parlor still listening to them.
"Thank you for stopping by." Damon told her.
"Let me know what you come up with." She told him as he opened the front door for her.
"Absolutely." He assured her. Sheriff Forbes walked out the door and once Damon closed it Stefan got up and vamp sped to him, grabbed him by his shirt, and held him against the door.
"What is wrong with you? You killed somebody?" Stefan asked him brother.
"Get off of me." Damon ordered before pushing him off him. "A...don't touch me. B...if I had, I wouldn't have been so obvious about it." Damon walked past him towards the parlor before turning to him. "C...There's another vampire in town."
"That's impossible." Stefan told him.
"Obviously not." Damon corrected before walking into the parlor.
"Then, who could it be?" Stefan asked him.
"Ah, what do we care? We're leaving anyway, right?" Damon asked him sarcastically.
"No, I can't leave now and you know that." Stefan told him approaching him. "How are we supposed to find this person?"
"Let the adults handle this, Stefan." Damon told him before leaving Stefan in the front hallway, looking conflicted.
I was leaving the school when Damon walked in front of me with a smirk on his face.
"Damon. What a surprise." I said smiling at him. "Stefan said that the two of you were leaving."
"We will be. We just have one little problem we have to solve first." He told me putting something in my hand. When he removed his hands from mine I looked down confused at the pocket watch.
"My family's old pocket watch?" I asked him confused.
"It's an old compass that points only to vampires." He told me and I opened it to see it fly around real quick before pointing at him.
"I see." I said closing it again. "Why are you giving it to me?"
"I need your help." He told me and I raised an eyebrow at him. "It's either you or Caroline and I happen to like you better."
"Is that so?" I asked him with a smile. "What do you need help with?"
"I need you to find where the new vampire in town is staying." He told me.
"New vampire?" I asked him.
"Very new. New to town. New to being a vampire." He listed off.
"Ok." I agreed. "Where should we start?"
At another part of the school Elena and a friend were parting ways as they prepared to go home.
"See you later, ok?" Elena told the girl smiling.
"Bye." The girl waved before leaving.
"Bye." Elena continued to walk forward but stopped abruptly when she saw Stefan sitting right in front of her on a table.
"Hi." He greeted before standing up. "We need to talk." She nodded to him and joined him at the table.
On the basketball court, Tyler and Matt were playing a little one on one.
"So, what's up with you and Forbes?" Tyler asked him.
"Nothing's up." Matt said.
"I saw you two in the hall today. Don't even try to deny it, bro. You're tapping that." Tyler said sure that he was right.
"No, it's not like that." Matt corrected.
"Never is. Until you become "we" people." Tyler told him shooting the ball and scoring a goal. Matt grabbed the ball as it fell back to earth and looked at Tyler confused.
""We" people?" Matt asked.
"Yeah, "we can't make it to the party"; "we'll never miss a game"; "we don't like the color red"" Tyler listed off.
"We hung out, like, twice." Matt told him shooting a basket and scoring leaving Tyler to catch the ball this time.
"Like I said, "we."" Tyler said smirking at him.
"So, you have no idea who it could be?" Elena asked Stefan.
"None. But it must be somebody new because leaving a body like that, they're either sloppy or they're trying to send a message." Stefan explained.
"And you're sure it's not Damon?" Elena asked skeptically.
"Well, I'm never sure about Damon, but he's been trying to keep a low profile lately, so it's just doesn't make any sense to me." Stefan told her.
"So what are you gonna do?" she asked.
"Damon is tracking them right now." Stefan told her before standing. "Look, I promised you the truth so I wanted to tell you. I want you to be careful." She nodded and stood in front of him.
"When I saw you, I...thought you were coming to say goodbye." She confessed.
"Not yet." He told her.
At the Gilbert house Jeremy was sitting on the couch, sketching when Jenna walked in. He turned the sketchbook around and showed her his most current work.
"Hey, what do you think?" he asked her. She paused in her walking and looked at him.
"Creepy." She told him.
"I found this old journal in dad's stuff, Jonathan Gilbert from the 1800s. He's kind of a freak show." Jeremy told her as she sat on the back of the couch. "He wrote about demons and all of these people getting slaughter and..."
"Yeah, he was a writer...short stories, horror stuff." She told him getting up from her spot and going to a bookshelf.
"Oh, he wrote fiction? Figured he was just a lunatic or a drunk." Jeremy said thinking about what he read.
"Well, he was a Gilbert, probably a little bit of both." Jenna told him pulling a book from the shelf and handing it to him.
I was standing in front of a warehouse that Damon had dropped me off at on the phone with said vampire while holding the compass.
"It's pointing at the warehouse." I told him.
"Just wait. I'll be there in minute." He told me.
"Can you hurry? This place is kinda giving me the creeps." I told him. Suddenly, Damon appeared behind me and tapped me on the shoulder, making me jump in surprise.
"You can give me that." He told me. I gave him the compass and he took it from me.
"So what do we do now?" I asked him.
""We" do nothing. You go home and I'll take care of baby vamp." He told me.
"Just like that?" I asked him.
"Just like that." He said and I nodded.
"Ok, be careful." I told him.
"Bye." He called to me as I walked away from him. Damon turned to face the entrance of the warehouse. He walked up the steps and opened the door, and entered the warehouse. Damon looked around as he walked deeper into the warehouse. Suddenly, Damon was shot Damon multiple times. Damon groaned in pain and fell on his knees to the floor. Logan approaches him revealing himself with the gun.
"I have tons of these wood bullets, so nothing funky." Logan told him circling around Damon pointing the gun.
"You don't wanna do this, trust me." Damon told him. Logan shot him in the shoulder making the older vampire scream out in pain.
"That's what you get." Logan told him.
"For what?" Damon groaned.
"You made me like this." Logan said crouching in front of Damon.
"I killed you. I didn't turn you." Damon told him prying a bullet out from his chest. Logan held up one of the wooden bullets and examine it.
"See I know what you and your brother are. I've been watching the two of you. I knew you'd show up here and I'm glad you did, because I have some questions." Logan told him.
"Me first." Damon told him before prying another bullet out. "Who turned you?"
"How should I know? Last thing I remember is, I'm about to stake your brother and then you grabbed me. That's it! Until I wake up in the ground behind a used car dealership on highway 4. Somebody buried me." Logan explained.
"It happens." Damon told him prying a bullet out of his leg. "Ow."
"You bit me." Logan reminded him.
"Damn it." Damon said as he examined the bullet from his leg.
"It had to be you." Logan told him.
"You have to have vampire blood in your system when you die. I didn't do that. Some other vampire found you, gave you their blood." Damon groaned before falling back onto the floor.
"Who?" Logan asked him.
"That's what I wanna know." Damon told him.
"Dude, it's not like the welcome wagon was waiting with a bundt cake and a handbook. It's been a learn as you go process. You know, one minute, I'm a small town on the rise news guy and next thing I know, I can't get into my house, because my foot won't go through the door." Logan told him.
"You have to be invited in." Damon told him taking out another bullet.
"I know. I live alone." Logan told him making Damon chuckle.
"Ah, that sucks." Damon said.
"So now, I am at the Ramada, watching pay per view all day, eating everything in sight, including housekeeping." Logan told him.
"It could be worse." Damon said.
"All I can think about is blood and killing people. I can't stop killing people. I keep killing," Logan started laughing manically. "And I like it. I'm conflicted."
"Welcome to the club." Damon told him as Logan stood up. "Wait a minute. Cops only found one body."
"I left one. I was tired. But I've been hiding the rest of bodies. They're right back there." Logan told him pointing to a pile of dead bodies with his gun.
"You're kidding." Damon practically begged.
"They're just piling up!" Logan shouted.
That night, the career fair was in full swing at the school. Sheriff Forbes walked into the main room in full uniform as Mayor Richard Lockwood walked up next to her.
"So what do we know?" Mayor Lockwood asked her.
"Nothing new to report yet." She told him and he groaned. "My highly reliable deputies are all on alert, but if you feel the need to be more proactive, by all means, grab a stake and have at it."
"What extra precautions can we take?" he asked her grabbing a coffee.
"For right now, there is nowhere safer than a crowded public place, and for once, Mayor, we actually know where our kids are." She reminded him looking around.
In another area, Tyler was flipping through some sketches in a giant notebook when Jeremy walked by and noticed him.
"What do you want?" Tyler asked him when he noticed him.
"Hey. Uh, I'm just surprised to see you here." Jeremy said before walking towards the older boy. "Art usually implies culture and culture implies, well, not you."
"Go to hell." Tyler told him before storming off. Jeremy smirked before looking down at the drawing Tyler stopped on. It was real good and the name in the corner: Tyler Lockwood.
"Still wanna be an astronaut?" Elena asked Matt as she approached him.
"I can't believe you remember that." Matt said smiling at her.
"I can remember the tinfoil that you wore on your head." She told him.
"I was eight." He defended.
"How are you doing?" she asked, her mind flashing to Halloween and Vicki.
"I've had it easier. You? I heard some things." Matt told her. On the other side of the gym Caroline and I entered the room and saw them together. "So it's true that you and Stefan..."
"Yeah, it is." She confirmed. Caroline quickly left the room upset.
"Care wait!" I called after her.
"What about you, Matt Donovan? I heard about Caroline." Elena told him smiling.
"Aw, man, not you too." Matt groaned.
"Hey." She said.
"We're friends." He told her and she gave him a skeptical look. "It's not a big deal."
"No?" she asked.
"No." he answered. They stared at each other for a moment before Elena turns and saw Stefan standing in the doorway. The pair looked at each other with a jealous Matt watching them.
"Why am I so overly emotional? All I can think about is my ex-girlfriend. I wanna be with her and bite her and stuff." Logan asked Damon.
"Well, you probably love her. Anything you felt before will be magnified now. You're gonna have to learn how to control that." Damon told him.
"What about walking in the sun? I'm a morning person. You can walk in the sun which, by the way, is pretty cool." Logan said. Damon flexed his hand with his daylight ring on it before hiding it. "The council will never suspect you. That's not in the journals."
"The journals?" Damon asked him.
"Yeah, the founding fathers, they passed down journals to their kids. Come on man, you gotta tell me. How can you walk around in the sun?" Logan asked.
"Who turned you?" Damon asked him again.
"How do you walk in the sun?" Logan repeated.
"Who turned you?" Damon asked once again.
"You know, I've been really nice so far but I will kill you." Logan stood up and pointed the gun at Damon again.
"Then you'll never know." Damon told him standing up. "You're not answering my question."
"You first!" Logan ordered.
"It seems we're at a bit of an impasse then, doesn't it?" Damon asked him.
"I have things to do, people to kill. Guess I'll be needing a little head start." Logan said before shooting Damon a couple more times making him groan and fall to the floor while Logan walked out of the warehouse.
When I finally found Caroline, she was standing in front of the Broadcast Journalism booth.
"What's going on with you and Matt?" I asked her. "The truth, Care."
"I like him." She told me shrugging and I gave her a look. "I really, really like him."
"Before you decide to even think about dating him just remember he comes with Elena baggage." I reminded her. "And not just the dating baggage, but friendship baggage."
"I know that." She told me.
"So you can't be jealous every time they talk to each other." I told her.
"I know that." She told me sternly.
"You might know it, but you don't act like you do." I told her and she glared weakly at me.
"I'm going to go find my mom." She told me before leaving me alone. I rolled my eyes and sighed at her.
At the high school, Elena and Stefan were leaning against a wall, facing each other.
"I'm guessing you're not here to plan the path for your future. You're looking out for me." She said.
"Hope that's ok." He told her. She didn't respond before walking over to a table and looking at the career pamphlets set up. Stefan following her as she went. "You know I wanted to be a doctor before everything happened, but, uh, then I couldn't, 'cause..."
"The blood." She worked out.
"Yeah. I've dabbled in a bunch of different things, though." He told her.
"Didn't love anything enough to stick to it?" she asked him curiously before they moved to another booth.
"No, I...I loved it all. I just...I had to move on before anybody could notice that I wasn't getting any older." He explained to her.
"How long before that would happen?" she asked him.
"Few years, usually. Sometimes shorter." He said.
"And you always left?" she asked finally looking at him.
"I didn't have a choice." He told her and she looked away once more. "So, what about...what about you? What are your, uh, plans for the future?"
"I don't wanna talk about my future, Stefan." She told him getting frustrated. "Because everything you're saying is making it perfectly clear that you're not gonna be in."
"Elena, it's not that I don't wanna be in it." He tried explaining to her.
"You can't, I get it. I heard you the first time and the second time, and I appreciate you looking out for me but, please, if you're gonna leave, then just go." She told him before Jenna made a beeline to them.
"Hide me." Jenna said.
"What's going on?" Elena asked her.
"The scum Fell has landed." Jenna told her.
"Logan's here." Elena sighed.
"Wait, Logan Fell?" Stefan asked surprised. Jenna nodded and Stefan quickly left for the hall and spotted the young vampire surrounded by people. Logan spotted Stefan and waved at him as Elena walked out into the hallway.
"Stefan, what's going on?" Elena asked him as Logan and Jenna joined them.
"Jenna, are you dodging me?" Logan asked her.
"It's a form of self-preservation." Jenna countered.
"Um, Elena, why don't you and Jenna go somewhere else?" Stefan told her giving her a significant look. Elena nodded before grabbing Jenna.
"Let's go." Elena told her pulling her away.
"What are you doing here?" Stefan asked Logan.
"You know, your brother asked me the same thing. In fact, why don't we just skip past all that who turned me stuff and get the answer that I want? How can I turn into a day walker?" Logan asked him.
"Damon and I are the only two that I know of." Stefan revealed.
"But you're both very cagey on the how, which tells me that there is a way. You know, in case you hadn't noticed, I'm quite the celebrity in this town. It would be very, very easy for me to expose you." Logan pointed out.
"You wanna know how you can walk around in the sun?" Stefan asked him.
"I do." Logan confirmed.
"You can't. Don't ever threaten me again." Stefan warned before walking past him.
Elena turned to Jenna as they made their way in another part of the school.
"When Logan came to the house, what did he say?" Elena asked her.
"Fake flattery. Stupid, dimpled grin. Puppy dog eyes." Jenna listed off.
"I'm serious, Jenna. How did he act? What did he say?" Elena asked her trying to make out what had Stefan so worried.
"He was the usual Logan, was charming, a little more manic than usual. He kept trying to convince me to let him in." Elena looked up at her putting the pieces together. "What?" Jenna asked confused.
"Ok, listen to me very carefully. Do not, under any circumstances, talk to him again. I'm serious, Jenna, like ever!" Elena warned her before Alaric entered the room.
"Hey Elena. Jenna." He greeted.
"Hi Mr. Saltzman." Elena greeted.
"Yeah, I was hoping to see you tonight." Alaric told Jenna with a smile.
"Career night is the new bowling." Jenna joked making him laugh.
"Ok, um, excuse me." Elena said before leaving them alone.
Outside of the school, Stefan was talking to Damon on the phone, who was back at the Salvatore Boarding House.
"Logan Fell is a vampire and when I find him again, I'm gonna destroy him limb by limb." Damon said. Elena walked out of the school and looked around for Stefan who noticed her, but didn't acknowledge her.
"What happened? Are you ok?" Stefan asked Damon as Elena spotted him leaning against the railing.
"No, I'm not ok. I was ambushed. I was shot." Damon told him standing in front of a mirror, taking off his shirt. "Now, I'm vengeful. Just got to find him."
"Well, there's no need. He's here at the school." Stefan told him.
"You're kidding me. Why the hell is he there?" Damon asked.
"He's working the crowd." Stefan answered.
"Well, I'll be right there." Damon told him hanging up as Elena approached Stefan.
"So. Anything you'd like to share?" Elena asked him.
Caroline led Sheriff Forbes back to me and the booth with a large smile on the younger's face.
"What are you doing?" Sheriff Forbes asked her.
"Following my future." Caroline asked her before pointing at the banner. "There it is."
"Broadcast journalism?" Sheriff Forbes asked her.
"Yes. Broadcast journalism." Caroline told her smiling wider. The sheriff looked at her skeptically. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"You don't even read the paper." Sheriff Forbes pointed out.
"This is one heck of a night." I said as Caroline walked out angrily with me behind her. Sheriff Forbes went to follow us, but Logan came up from behind her.
"Liz." He greeted her.
"Logan." She said surprised. She went for her gun before looking around her.
"What are you gonna do stake me? Bury me in another shallow grave? What would the email say this time?" Logan asked her.
"I didn't have a choice." She told him before he moved threateningly towards her.
"You bitch! I died for you, for this town. You've known me since I was six and you swept me under the rug like dirt." He said.
"You knew what you were getting into." She reminded him.
"I was one of you." He said.
"And now you're one of them." She stated. Logan went to leave, but turned around and whispered in her ear.
"Watch your back, Sheriff." Logan smiled and finally left. Sheriff Forbes quickly jumped on her phone and called her deputies.
"Get a backup team to the school immediately. Keep it within the circle. It's a V5." She told one before hanging up.
In the school hall, Jeremy ran after Tyler who was still walking away from him.
"I didn't know you drew." Jeremy pointed out.
"It's an elective." Tyler reminded him.
"Because it's good stuff. You like graphics? Cause that's, uh, that's kind of my thing." Jeremy told him, trying to start a civil conversation.
"Woah, whoa," Tyler said making them both stop in the hall. "What are you doing?"
"Well, it's just something else we have in common." Jeremy told him.
"What's the other thing? Vicki? Let's hang out because we did the same chick? Go be friends with one of the many other guys that she screwed, there is no shortage of them." Tyler pointed out. Jeremy pushed him into the lockers and the two started fighting in the hallway before Alaric and Mayor Lockwood broke them up.
"Alright, work it out, tough guy." Alaric told Jeremy.
"You two, follow me." Mayor Lockwood ordered and the two boys followed him.
"Excuse me, Mayor." They all turned and faced Alaric. "Where are you taking them?"
"I'm gonna talk to them. All fights should end in handshakes, don't you think?" Mayor Lockwood asked him before turning back to the two boys. "Come on."
Caroline and I were waiting outside for Bonnie, who was late taking us home. Thing is, I haven't seen Bonnie at all tonight.
"Bonnie, where are you? I'm ready to go. I'll be outside." Caroline left her another message before hanging up her phone. I looked round to see Logan pulling up next to us in an SUV.
"Hey, damsels in distress, need a ride?" Logan asked us.
"Oh my God. Logan Fell, channel 9, is that you?" Logan asked her sarcastically and we both faked a gasp before laughing.
"I used to baby sit you, Caroline Forbes and Chloe Gilbert. Don't mock me." He told us.
"Well, we were supposed to go home with Bonnie, but we can't find her." Care told her.
"It's not a problem, really. It's on my way." Logan told us.
"Okay." Caroline and I got into the car as Matt watched us from afar. Caroline got in the passenger seat as I climbed in back.
"You know, this is fate." Caroline told him smiling.
"And why is that?" he asked her.
"Our dear Care is interested in broadcast journalism." I told him smiling.
"So can I ask you a couple questions?" she asked him.
"Anything you want. But first, buckle up." He told her.
"Ok." She agreed before reaching to buckle her seatbelt. Logan suddenly slammed her head against the window leaving a blood smear on the glass and knocking her unconscious.
"Caroline!" I called out before Logan grabbed my arm, pulled me towards him then bit into my upper arm. I screamed before raising my lower arm making my vervain bracelet against his face. He quickly let go of me and pushed me away from him.
"That's what you get vampire." I told him darkly before he left the parking lot. I tried staying away from him as I made sure Caroline was still alive and he drove us to God knows where.
In the school, Stefan and Elena were walking down the hallway looking for Logan when they ran into Matt.
"Hey." He said in passing before Elena stopped him.
"Hey, have you seen Logan Fell, the news guy?" she asked him.
"Yeah. He just gave Caroline and Chloe a ride home." She told her before walking away. Elena looked at Stefan, fear filling her face.
"Stay here." Stefan told her and she watched him in anguish as he left to help her sister and best friend.
Outside the school, Mayor Lockwood escorted Jeremy and Tyler to a secluded area.
"Ok, let's get this out of your system. Go ahead. Fight." He told them and they looked at him confused.
"You want us to what?" Jeremy asked him.
"I'm not gonna fight him, dad." Tyler said.
"I don't think so, sir." Jeremy agreed before attempting to leave, but the Mayor blocked his way.
"You don't fight in there like pansies. You take it outside, fight your battles like men, and move on. Best lesson my dad taught me. So let's settle it. Fight." The Mayor ordered again as Alaric walked out the back entrance to see them.
"Come on, dad." Tyler practically begged.
"That's not gonna happen." Jeremy told him.
"I said fight!" he ordered. Tyler tried to leave, but his dad pushed him into Jeremy as Alaric approached them.
"Whoa. What's going on out here?" Alaric asked him.
"Just letting these two kids work it out. We're good here. Go back inside." Mayor Lockwood ordered.
"I don't wanna go back inside. What I want is an answer to my question. What's going on out here?" Alaric asked again.
"Who do you think you're talking to? Do I look like a student?" Mayor Lockwood asked him getting upset.
"No. You look like a full grown alpha male douchebag." Alaric told him making Jeremy smirk and Tyler look at the history teacher shocked that he had the guts to say such a thing.
"You don't talk to me like that. I can have your job like this." Mayor Lockwood said snapping his fingers.
"Ah, you do that. Then it will be you and me in this parking lot, working things out. You cool with that?" Alaric asked him.
"You just marked yourself." Mayor Lockwood told him.
"Ok." Alaric said. Mayor Lockwood looked back at Tyler to see him walking away and following him. Jeremy tried holding back his smile when Alaric looked to him.
"You all right?" Alaric asked him. Jeremy nodded still suppressing a smirk.
Sheriff Forbes was driving in her car trying to find Logan when her phone rang.
"Where are you?" Sheriff Forbes asked Logan.
"Your daughter has expressed an interest in journalism. I think it's important to foster young minds." Logan told her. "And I have Chloe in the backseat too."
"What do you want?" Sheriff Forbes asked him.
"The satisfaction of turning your daughter and her friend into vampires." He told her and I was more afraid now than before. I took a deep breath as Logan stopped at an intersection. Suddenly, Stefan vamp sped and pulled Logan out of the car, throwing him to the pavement. Logan got up and Damon came out of the woods, shooting a gun at Logan, who fell back onto the pavement.
"Payback's a bitch, isn't it?" Damon asked Logan before turning to Stefan. "Get her out of here." Stefan went around to the passenger's side to retrieve Caroline as I climbed out of the car.
"Take her. I'm fine." I insisted to him.
"Logan, what happened?! Logan?" Sheriff Forbes called from Logan's phone. Damon jogged back to the car and picked up the phone when Stefan appeared next to me.
"Sheriff, yeah, it's Damon." Damon said into the phone nodding to me. Stefan quickly left and took Caroline home.
"Where is Caroline and Chloe?" Sheriff Forbes asked worriedly.
"They're ok. I'm on Elm Street." He told her before hanging up the phone. He opened Logan's trunk and grabbed a tire iron.
"Gonna try this one more time." Damon told him before swinging the tire iron, showing he was going to kill Logan. "Who turned you?"
"I told you I don't know." Logan insisted.
"This tire iron here could take your head clean off." Damon said examining the weapon. "Is that your final answer?"
"How can you side with them?" Logan asked him as Stefan appeared by my side once again.
"I don't side with anyone. You pissed me off. I want you dead." Damon said before turning to Stefan. "I told her get her out of here." Stefan picked me up bridle style and vamp sped away from Damon and Logan. "Who turned you?"
"I don't know!" Logan shouted at him.
"Oh, well. You're screwed." Damon told him before he started to swing the tire iron towards Logan's head.
"Wait, wait! I do know." Logan said trying to save himself.
"You're lying." Damon said.
"You think you're the only one who wants to get in that tomb underneath the old church?" Logan asked him and knew he had Damon hooked.
"If you're lying to me, I will end you." Damon warned him.
"I am not lying. There is another way to break the spell. We can help you. Meet me at the old church." Damon told him before he heard sirens in the distance. "Take me down. Make it look real. Make it look real!" Logan threw himself at Damon who was thrown against the car before vamp speeding off as Sheriff Forbes got out of her car.
"Where are they?" she asked him looking around.
"They're ok. My brother's taken them home. I'm sorry, Sheriff. I just wasn't strong enough." He told her holding his arm in pain.
At the high school, Stefan and I entered the school and stood at the end of a hallway looking over at Elena. Elena, who was speaking to a friend, quickly told her bye when she saw the two of us. She quickly walked over to us.
"Caroline?" she asked him. The three of us walked a short distance away and stopped.
"She's ok. I took her home. She was shaken up. But all she knows is Logan attacked her. Nothing else." Stefan told her.
"Where's Logan?" she asked him.
"Damon's dealing with him." He told her.
"As in...?" she asked breaking off her question.
"Yes, dead." I told her.
"You saw what happened tonight, right?" Stefan asked her. Elena touched his arm to soothe him but he just crossed his arms over his chest forcing her to retract her hand. "I mean, you understand why we can't be together? You see it?"
"Yeah, I'm starting to see a lot of things, Stefan." Elena told him and I looked at the two of them.
"Come on. I'll give you two a ride." I said.
"Uh, I can get home." He told me and I glanced at Elena.
"I know." I told him. He looked at my twin before smiling.
"All right. That'd be nice." He said and the three of us left. Them for the boarding house and me for home.
Outside. Jeremy approached Tyler, who was sitting alone.
"Hey." Jeremy greeted.
"What do you want?" Tyler asked him getting up and walking towards him.
"I don't know. I, uh, I thought that was weird with your dad, what he did. Is he like that all the time? Is that...Is that what you gotta go through? Man, I...I get it. I get it." Jeremy told him before Tyler hit him. "What's your problem?
"Look, I don't need your pity." Tyler told him.
"Seriously, you don't have to be like this. You don't." Jeremy told him
"Just go." Tyler told him and Jeremy started to back away.
"What is your problem, man?" Jeremy asked him.
"I don't know, ok? I don't know." Tyler told him as a full moon shined over them.
At the boarding house, Elena and Stefan stepped out of the car before I drove away.
"What I said before about you leaving. It was harsh." Elena told him.
"No, no. You had every right." Stefan insisted.
"You asked me what I wanted my future to be. I wanted to be a writer. My mom sort of push me into that direction from the time I was able to read. She supported me, encouraged me, bought me my first journal, and then she died. And I can't see myself being a writer anymore. That was something that we shared. I know that you think you put all of this bad stuff into my life, but my life already had it. I was buried in it." Elena told him.
"This is different." He told her.
"It doesn't make it any less painful." She said.
"I know that it's...that's it's hard to understand, but I'm doing this for you." Stefan told her heading for the door. Elena stayed in her placed until she finally followed him towards the door.
"No." she told him and he stopped. "You don't get to make that decision for me. If you walk away, it's for you, because I know what I want. Stefan, I love you." Stefan stayed facing the door with Elena at his back. Tears sparkled in her eyes, afraid that he would continue to walk away from her. Stefan finally turned around with tears in his eyes and quickly walked over towards Elena, grabbed her face in his hands and kissed her with passion. As they continue kissing Stefan had Elena against the wall for a second as they make their way into the front room of the Salvatore house. Elena removed her scarf and tossed it to the floor. She ran her hands through his hair and Stefan held her face to his as they continue to kiss. Suddenly, Stefan felt his eyes changing and he stopped kissing her. Elena breathed heavily as Stefan rested his head on her shoulder. Stefan, also breathing heavily, finally pulled away and turned around so Elena couldn't see his vampire face. Elena tried to pull him back to face her. "Don't."
"Elena, I can't..." he tried telling her.
"Yes, you can." She said touching his face. "Don't hide from me." Stefan turned his face towards hers with her hand still on his cheek. Stefan's eyes were red and the veins still crawled towards his eyes. Elena looked at him with no fear as she gently touched the veins around his eyes. Stefan felt a little more under control with his urge to feed on her, before Elena kissed him. When she pulled away, he pulled her back for another kiss before Stefan's face had becomes normal again. Elena smiled and took Stefan's hand. He led her up to his bedroom. They stopped on the landing and began to kiss passionately once more. They, eventually made it to Stefan's bedroom where Stefan began removing his and Elena's clothes while touching each other's bodies. Stefan then gently lowered Elena onto the bed and they continued to kiss with intense passion. Stefan and Elena's hands intertwine as they started to make love. Elena explored the muscles on Stefan's back and traced her finger against his lip while Stefan kissed her neck and touched one side of her cheek. Elena's face shows nothing but pure pleasure as the two have sex for the first time together.
At the warehouse, Logan walked towards his car before he heard a loud clang from behind him. He turned around to investigate and when he turns back towards his car, Alaric was blocking his way making him backs up.
"Who are you?" Logan asked him.
"A friend of Jenna's." Alaric told him.
"Jenna sent you?" Logan asked him.
"No, I came on my own." Alaric said.
"Ah, I get it. Well, buddy, I know you think this makes you brave. But actually it makes you pretty stupid." Logan warned him.
"Either way, here I am." Alaric said.
"What do you want?" Logan asked.
"Jenna is a good person. She deserves the best. I'm here to make sure she gets it." Alaric told him.
"Was that supposed to be a threat? Couldn't you throw a punch? Maybe provoke me a little?" Logan asked.
"I'm not a violent guy by design." Alaric said.
"Well, you're not a very smart one, either." Logan said.
"How's that?" Alaric asked him as Logan turned his back to the teacher. Alaric slowly took the hidden stake out from inside the sleeve of his jacket.
"'Cause you have no idea who you're talking to." Logan wanted him before vamping out and attacking Alaric. Alaric, who was expecting the attack, staked the new vampire. Logan fell to the ground, dead. Alaric looked shocked at what he was capable of and quickly left the area.
At the high school, Tyler was leaning against Matt's truck as he approached him.
"I need a ride." Tyler told him.
"Sure." Matt said. Tyler went towards the passenger door when Matt spoke again. "Look, I like Caroline. [Tyler stops and looks at him] She's got this thing...this way about her...and I like her ok? And I'm not gonna defend it or apologize about."
"Ok." Tyler told him.
"So stop your little bromance bitch act." Matt ordered.
"Ok." Tyler said just as calmly. Matt walked over to the driver's side and got in with Tyler getting in shortly after.
At the Forbes house, Caroline was asleep in her bed as her mother stocked her hair. The sheriff's phone went off the left the room to answer it.
"Yeah, I'll be right there." She hung up and quietly closed the door.
At the boarding house, Stefan was holding Elena in his arms and stroking her hair. Elena was wearing Stefan's shirt and looking around the room from the comfort of Stefan's arms.
"I've never been in your room before." She pointed out with a smile on her face.
"Hm, well, it hasn't changed much over the years." He told her looking around a little.
"Do you leave everything here when you come and go?" she asked him curiously.
"It's the only place that...that has remained constant. This room holds every memory that I've ever thought was important enough to hold on to." He told her making her smile and snuggle into his chest more. He smiled and kissed her head.
"A lot of memories." She said looking up at him and he kissed her forehead.
"Yep. Are you thirsty or anything?" he asked her.
"A little. You? Uh..." she realized what she asked and he laughed at her.
"I'm fine. Let me get you something to drink, ok?" he asked her.
"Ok." They shared a brief kiss before Stefan got up and left the room. Elena snuggled up against a pillow and smiles brightly. Soon she got up and started exploring Stefan's room. Elena finally came across the picture of Katherine and Anna. She picked it up and was scared at the resemblance. Teary eyed, Elena dropped the picture down and ran out the door. She pulled her phone out of her clothes and called her twin.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Can you come and get me?" Elena asked.
"Why?" I asked her taking off my jewelry. "I thought you and Stefan would be having lots of sex by now."
"We look like them." She cried and I looked at my phone confused.
"Who?" I asked her.
"Katherine and Anna." She nearly shouted at me. "We look like them. They could be our twins." I perked up at what she said before getting up.
"Stay where you are. I'm coming to you." I grabbed the keys and climbed into the car and drove towards the boarding house once more.
At the old church, Damon was pacing around, waiting for Logan, when his phone rang.
"Hello." He answered.
"I just wanted to say thank you. I don't know how you did it." Sheriff Forbes said on the other end while standing at the warehouse.
"Um, not following." He told her confused.
"We found Logan's body up by the old Fell warehouse. He has been disposed of. He was hoarding victims, innocent victims." She told him and he paused in his movements.
"What?" he asked her.
"This town owes you so much. So do I." she told him before hanging up. Damon looked around utterly shocked at the news.
At the boarding house, Stefan walked back in his room with a glass of water in hand.
"Elena?" He called for her. He saw the picture of Katherine and Anna with Elena's necklace on top of it. He picked up the necklace and the picture before looking around worried.
I was quickly driving down a deserted road towards Elena when I saw someone in the middle of the road. I slammed my brakes, but the person hit my windshield making my car flip. I tried to get out of my seat towards the roof, but I was stuck. I looked at the man who I hit and my eyes grew wide as his limbs corrected themselves and he slowly got back up and started to approach me.
