Chapter Ten: Hehe, Surprised?

Six Months Later...

Juice and sake glasses clashed against one another before their respected owners took a sip from their drinks. "Congratulations Hinamori! Oops, I mean Hinamori-taicho on your promotion!" Matsumoto exclaimed.

"You don't have to be so formal Rangiku-san," the new fifth division taicho replied. "You can still call me Hinamori."

After the Royal Family incident, Hinamori got to stay in the Gotei 13. During that time, she worked hard than ever to master her bankai. When that day did finally happen, Ukitake-soitaicho took her into deep consideration as a legible candidate for position as fifth division captain. When she has been summoned, Hinamori had to take the captain proficiency test as the captain commander and three other captains watched and evaluated.

Momo sighed with relief. She is thankful she has the meet their expectations and passed. Now, she can truly be the new leader of her division and rebuild everything that has been lost. "So, what do you plan on doing today?" Matsumoto asked.

"There's a lot of things to do actually," Hinamori replied. "I have to find myself a vice-captain, finish today's paperwork, and other things."

"Your life practically sucks now, in other words," Haineko interrupted. "Good thing I'm not you."

"Hey, don't insult my master!" Tobiume snapped. "She worked extra hard to attain the rank she has now! It's actually a good thing that she has not become a lazy cat like you!"

The zanpakuto spirit's ears perked up upon hearing that comment. Glaring at the kimono girl, Haineko asked, "What did you say?! You called me a lazy cat!"

Likewise, Tobiume did the same. "Yes, I did Haineko!"

"Well, you're...FLAT CHESTED!"

Suddenly, the two spirits began clashing heads against each other. "NANI?!"

Listening to the both of them, Hinamori sighed with defeat. Unlike her relationship with Matsumoto, Tobiume and Haineko doesn't get along at all. She then noticed the strawberry orange haired woman giving her a snickering look. "N-Nani Rangiku-san?" she asked.

"When you say other things, does that include spending extra quality time with your boyfriend?" Matsumoto suddenly asked.

Momo turned a bright shade of pink on her cheeks. She pouted, "Mou Rangiku-san, please!"

"What? You deserve it. I think it's an appropriate present for him to give to you."

"Matsumoto, you're not in any position to be giving relationship advice to other people," retorted a voice.

Surprised by his sudden presence, the lieutenant jumped. "T-Taicho!"

"Hitsugaya-kun!" Momo exclaimed.

"Eh?" both zanpakutos questioned before they noticed Hyorinmaru's presence beside them. Haineko pushed Tobiume to the side and rushed up to him. "Darling, you came to save me!" she exclaimed.

"What are you talking about?" Tobiume asked, crossing her arms over her chest. "He's not here to save you."

"Well, neither is he planning to save you!"

Tobiume growled with frustration and began pulling the feline's hair (or fur?). "Itte, that hurts!" Haineko exclaimed as she began pulling hers.

"Ouch! Let go Haineko!"

"No way, not by a long shot!"

"So this is where you've been for all this time," Hitsugaya said, "hiding yourself in the fifth division."

"But captain, today is a special day!" Matsumoto complained. "Hinamori just got promoted!"

"Yeah, I know and today is also the day when you're supposed to be sitting in the office doing your paperwork!"

"Eek! Gomen nesai Hinamori, I better get going now," she said as she left her seat.

"You better not run away," Hitsugaya warned.

"Ja ne!"

Before he could say anything more, Matsumoto has already flash stepped out of the fifth division office, leaving the two captains alone. "MATSUMOTO!"

Sensing the mood in the atmosphere is going to change, Hyorinmaru grabbed the back collars of Haineko's fur and Tobiume's kimono and started carrying them towards the door. "W-What are you doing darling?" Haineko asked.

"If you two want to fight, then do it somewhere else," Hyorinmaru said.

"She's the one that started it," Tobiume replied.

"What did you say?!" Haineko snapped before they started yet another argument.

Hyorinmaru sighed with defeat, glanced back to the loving couple, and smiled. It is best to leave those two alone because he has got a premonition that something interesting is about to happen.

Hinamori giggled. "Some things never change, don't they?"

With a sigh of defeat, Hitsugaya took a seat next to her. "Tell me about it."

Smiling at him, Momo leaned over and gave him a lip kiss. "Daijobou, that's how Rangiku-san is."

"Hn, yeah. Even though she fails at paperwork, she's still a reliable vice-captain," Hitsugaya murmured in her ear as he cuddled against her shoulder.

His breath gave her a tingly feeling. She giggled as he began to plant kisses on her neck. "Sh-Shiro-chan, it tickles!"

Just as they were about to engage themselves into a make out session, they heard a light clinging noise. The two Shinigami looked down to see the same pair of silver rings they had to wear before, is clashing against one another as their ring fingers folded together. They looked at each other and smiled. "Who would have thought that because of a simple game of acting can turn things into a reality?" Momo asked.

"Yeah, I know," Hitsugaya replied as he gave her a short kiss on the lips. "I love you."

"I love you too. Um...Toshiro."

"Hn, what is it?"

"There's something I need to tell you..."

Suddenly the slide door slammed opened, causing the lovers to look up and see two familiar faces at the door. "Okaa-san! Oto-san!" Momo exclaimed.

The father stormed into the room and slammed his hands on the table, staring fiercely into the eyes of Toshiro and Momo. "Is it true peach?" he asked.

"What is true Momo?" Hitsugaya asked.

"Didn't Momo-chan tell you the news yet?" Miyako asked, walking up to the others.

"About her promotion, I've been told that a long time ago."

"No, not that Toshiro-kun."

Hitsugaya raised an eyebrow and turned to his father in law. "My sweet peach, I can't believe the time has come near!" Tatsuya said, trying to wipe the tears from his eyes with his yukata sleeve."The future's all bright and shining!"

"Is that why you came all the way from your noble home just to make sure if it's true?" Momo asked.

"Of course, we're also worried about you! You might get hurt while you're out there killing those Hollows and stuff!"

"Oi, is there something you haven't told me yet?" Hitsugaya asked the raven haired captain.

"About that Shiro-chan..." she said as she fiddled with her fingers.

"Hn, well?"

She felt her cheeks turn hot. Momo suddenly became too nervous to say it in public. So instead, she whispered it in his ear. There is a brief moment of pause before Hitsugaya pulled back and asked, "W-What?"

Momo shrugged her shoulders and gave a hesitant laugh. "Hehe, surprised? I'm pregnant."
