I own nothing! Besides Sahara…

Sahara smiled that notable smile of hers as she fell forward, almost crashing to the floor, hadn't it been for Abe being there to stop her fall. Abe and Broom instantly covered her with a series of questions but all Sahara could do was dully look ahead at Myers, now being interrogated by Manning. Her arms were brought to her chest as she lightly shivered and her body was out straight on her back with Abe's hands supporting her shoulders from off the ground. No expression, no words, just a blank stare at Myers. She saw him wave off the tempered Manning as he ran back out into the night. Her guess was probably searching for Hellboy. Manning then flashed his angry gaze down at Sahara and made his way to her but Broom straightened up and took him aside before he could unload on her, trying in a vain attempt to quell his rising frustration and lack of control of the situation.

Abe turned himself so that he knelt to the side of her, so he could look into her face. His eyes were filled with worry. She hadn't truly seen that in him, hardly ever. She again gave that smile but it didn't take its normal effect all he did was shake his head disappointedly. He read already what had happened through their connection, she knew. She immediately felt embarrassed and ashamed for having had made such a rookie mistake, but in her defense, she was a rookie.

Reaching for the awning covers that previously were wrapped around her body Abe bundled them up and applied a great amount of pressure to her gaping wound. The term 'gaping' doesn't truly describe the injury for you can clearly see her collarbone peeking through the giant laceration that separated the muscles and tissues. She squeaked in protest from the reacting pain but Abe quickly waved his hand over her face immediately silencing her small cries, gently sliding his hand up and around to her right ear. Tenderly stroking it whilst filling her with his calm and reassuring energy. She sighed blissfully and soon fell into a slumber between that of exhaustion and relaxation. He knew that putting a shock victim to sleep was extremely fatal but he took the risk anyway, trying to kill the pain and wash her with relief that desperately evaded her in this all too stressful situation. Abe carried her up into his arms and exited the scene after Broom and Manning.

With the speed of light they were transported back to the bureau quickly unloading into Medical Bay A. Rapidly Abe laid Sahara down on the metal slab and readied all the medical technology. He didn't give her any sedatives or numbing agents due to the degree of shock she was in and for fear that she wouldn't wake back up. She was in desperate need of a blood transfusion but her blood type, as well as his, was unheard of, so supplies were not there at their disposal.

Panic began to etch itself onto his features but he desperately fought it back down. Reading her blood type and his blood type he found only the slightest similarity; though slight it was still more than what the present supplies withheld. Without much thought of the consequences in operating on her while in the middle of a heavy blood donation, Abe hooked himself up to the transfusion. Opening a vein in his arm and opening a vein in her arm he roughly inserted the needles so as to begin the transfusion. With the process commenced he then rushed to get the operation underfoot before he started to get lightheaded and hazy.

He began to sterilize all the exposed tissues and tendons. What a stinging it gave Sahara. His next and most delicate and intricate procedure was to sew up the open wound so that it would align properly and heal accordingly as well as to keep it from infection. Cries of pain and furious growls came from Sahara as she grabbed at Abe's arms to stop his operating that had brutally awoken her.

Abe, "Sahara, I know you're in pain…and I…know this is extremely painful but you got to… stop slowing me down, time is of essence here!"

He said this growing faint and finding it hard to concentrate, much like a giant head rush, which soon became unrelenting.

He begun sewing as quickly as he could, slowly having his fears become relevant with each passing minute. He felt himself going under, losing all strength in his limbs and feeling the life literally drain from his body. He rapidly tied up her stitches and then yanked the needle out of his arm to then collapse in the neighboring chair up against the slab. He gasped in the sudden rush of it all. He lolled his head back from the waves of weakness and uneasiness pausing there for breath. He rolled his head over to where Sahara laid, now unconscious. He grabbed for her pulse and found that it was there, returning to its strength with each beat.

He gasped, "You're going to be ok Sahara, you're going to be ok." He looked up heavenward and smiled, still gasping for air but said, "Thank you."

Hours slowly passed on. Fortunately Broom had walked by in this particular moment. He noticed the now fading distressing scene and how terribly worn Abe looked. Abe briefed him of what had taken place and Broom offered his services if he needed any help, but Abe declined. Still Broom gave him a case of water to drink and douse himself in so as to try and regain his lost blood that now coursed through Sahara's veins, and for comfort purposes of course. Broom pulled up the chair that was against the adjacent wall and began to converse with Abe so as to pass the time better and bond more.

Broom, "I see that you care very deeply for Miss Savannah, Abe."

Abe nodded his head feeling his strength rapidly returning within him, "Indeed I do, I feel that she is my responsibility at times, not in a burdening way, but in a nurturing way. More so with close the bonds we tend to share."

Broom nodded, "Understandable, since you're the one that found her and rescued her from her horrible condition back in Africa I would do more than assume that you two hold such a close bond."

Abe tilted his head, "Professor Broom do you imply that there is more going on within our relationship that I don't see?"

He leaned forward in his chair, both hands poised on his cane, "I see how my Sahara looks at you Abe, and I see how you look at her. Your relationship is the equivalent to that of Liz and Hellboy's, though more stable and less with the constant drabbles."

Abe chuckled nervously, "I thank you Professor Broom for your opinion and I don't mean any offense but, there isn't any romantic relationship involved with us, just going as far as to being intimate friends that will never break apart."

Broom, "Really Abraham, with your powers I'd expect you to have already picked up on this."

Abe, "Picked up on what Sir?"

He carefully stood up sighing, "It seems to me that I'm the only one around here that can see anymore. You both are one in the same, forever linked, forever loved, forever lasting."

Abe looked up at Broom in a confused yet awe like manner at his chosen words.

Breaking the moment was Sahara stirring and mumbling. Both of their heads snapped attention to her.

"Abe," She muttered.

He stood up and laid his hand on her dangling arm, "I'm right here."

Yet at his touch to her Abe's eyes widened in wonder at his contact with Sahara. He felt something that he didn't realize was there before, he didn't know what but it drew him closer to her for an instant. It was something that showed their bond, almost telepathically, but then portrayed something that roped him into her more than he ever could've felt in the years they shared together. Maybe it was just what Broom had said. Startling him into thinking like this, or it was his blood that he infused within her established this deeper link. He didn't know what but he comforted himself in to believing the latter conclusion.

Broom smiled seeing Abe's reaction, "You see my dear boy I normally am always right when it comes to these things."

Sahara's look quickly became to that of puzzled, she slowly sat up, still woozy and groggily.

Broom, "How are you feeling my dear?"

Sahara replied, "I'm very dizzy, but much better than I was. I thought for sure that the loss of my blood was the thing that was going to kill me." Looking to Abe she asked, "How did you find a transfusion that matched?"

Broom, "Because he used his own blood to save you. He found that it contained the smallest match but he risked it anyway. He risked his life save yours my dear."

Sahara's eyes grew large at this and she looked over at Abe who held the tinniest tinge of deep blue.

Abe cleared his throat, "Yes I did, and I see that you are taking well to the foreign substance that pumps threw year heart as we speak."

Sahara's fur became hot and she felt herself reddening underneath.

Broom, "Ah the heart and the blood, such vital and complicated things. It makes it even more of a special matter when someone else's courses threw it. It proves purely of a selfless act of love."

Abe began to feel extremely uncomfortable and a tad bit irritated at Broom's probing. Why now of all times does he question and badger on their relationship. Why now?

Abe, "If I may interrupt here, I do suggest you get back to your quarters Sara and get some rest."

He held the doors open for her as all three exited the bay, "You will need to recover greatly before you go on any other missions." He continued.

Passing by, hearing these very words, Manning stormed up to the three and interjected,

"What do you mean greatly recover? No, no, if she wants to be a field agent she will need to keep going out on the rest of our missions. No breaks or excuses."

Abe, "But Sir this is not a matter of vacation time, she almost died out there and you expect her to-"

Manning cut him off, "Next mission you're out there or I'm revoking your title."

Broom, "Mr. Manning that is against-"

Manning shouted back, "I'm in charge! Revoke, title!"

And with that he walked off down the corridor.

Sahara regaining her old personality said, "He reeaally hates me doesn't he?"

Broom shook his head in disgust, "I'm so terribly sorry Sahara but Mr. Manning is, is… he should be put down like a rabid dog."

Breaking the solemnity of the atmosphere was the elevator coming down. All three looked in apprehension, was it Myers? Did he find Hellboy? Slowly reaching a stand still and being latched to the floor, a handful of black clad agents blocked the view of who or what was within. Once they dispersed out came Myers holding up a sick looking, bleeding Hellboy. The two stepped off the elevator and Myers passed off Hellboy to Abe who began directing him into Medical Bay A.

Broom followed after, "Are you sure you're well enough Abraham?"

He blinked and looked at Broom, "I'll be fine Sir, thank you for your concern."

Hellboy slowly moved his head up and unseeingly looked at Abe asking, "Why, what's wrong with you?"

He looked to him, "Nothing, I'm fine."

Sahara was sitting outside of the Bay next to the frame of the open door listening into what they were saying. Inside was Abe overlooking Hellboy's wounds with Broom and Myers voicing their concerns.

Abe, "You were burned by some organic acid."

Hellboy, "I'm lucky that way."

Abe pried further into Hellboy's wound, which caused him to give a grunt.

Broom, "Son, about Rasputin-"

Hellboy, "Don't worry. I'll get him soon enough-"

Broom, "Listen to me, this time is different. There's more at stake than ever before."

Hellboy, "How hard can it be? I punched the crap out of that thing that he sent-ouch!"

Broom, "I worry about you."

Hellboy, "Me? C'mon."

Broom, "Well, I won't be around forever, you know?"

Hellboy,"Oh, stop that(grimaces in pain)Damn! Would you please be alittle more careful?"

Abe muttered, "Big Baby."

With further prying Abe asked, "Red, how long was it latched onto you?"

Hellboy,"I dunno, maybe five seconds-ow!"

Myers, "You want me to hold him down?"

Hellboy snickered, "That's right, Stud, hold me down."

Abe, "Professor..."

Broom moved to Abe's side of the table. Abe was poking at the depths of the wound.

Broom said sharp to Hellboy, "Don't look! Turn around."

Hellboy, "Is it bad?"

Broom came closer, eyes wide: inside the wound on Hellboy's forearm, nestled like ticks, were three translucent eggs. Hellboy jumps as Abe plucks the first one out. Abe deposited it in a glass,

"Touched you five seconds. Laid three eggs."

Hellboy, "Didn't even buy me a drink."

The computer beeped having finished an analysis. On a monitor, was an enlarged color image of one of the throbbing,

"The eggs are very sensitive to heat and light. They need a humid, dark environment to breed."

Abe picks up an egg with a pair of tweezers, passes it on to Hellboy, who sports a bandage on his arm.

Myers,"Down there. Did you ever loose track of him?"

Hellboy, "Well, let's see…there was that moment, when I had a train on top of my head."

Broom frowns, worried, "They're back, in my lifetime they're back again. We can't risk it; You'll go back to the tracks tomorrow with a group of agents, search the area, top to bottom."

Later on that night in Abe's Library, Broom' office, Abe was standing near his tank with Broom while Sahara was resting in the adjacent sofa across the room. Broom was placing a new set of books on the stands in front of the fish tank while conversing with Myers. Sahara was in and out of slumber and could faintly hear their conversation. She could tell it was not of a cheery subject but she couldn't really focus on what they were saying. She could here a drop in Myers voice as he walked away. Thinking that that was the end of the conversation, she closed her eyes again, and was about to relax back into slumber when these words escaped Broom's lips, "I'm dying Agent Myers." Her head instantly snapped up and she raised her body halfway off the couch. Abe noticed her reaction and extended his hand to calm her down. Her eyes shown with pure fear, quickly evaporating any sort of dreariness or nagging sleep they once were laded with.

Broom speaking to Myers, "And as a father, I worry about him. In medieval stories, Agent Myers, there's often a young knight, inexperienced but pure of heart..."

Myers,"Oh, come on. I'm not 'pure of heart'."

Abe replied with a wave of his hand, "Yes, you are."

This brought Sahara's attention quickly away from Broom to Abe, but she soon refocused on Broom again after he said this,

"Rasputin is back for him. What I'm asking of you is to have the courage to stand by him when I am gone. He was born a demon; we can't change that. But you will help him, in essence, to become a man."

Myers shook his head, first looking at the floor then lifting his eyes back up to Broom's. They were filled with heavy remorse and sadness with just a touch of despair. Turning away he exited the room. Sahara's voice was laced with panic,

"Professor you didn't just say you're dying did you? No, you are still strong and, and relatively healthy…right?"

She glanced over at Abe who shook his head at her words. She got up off the couch and ran to where Broom was. She hugged him with all of her might soon falling to her knees still grappled around his waist.

Her tears began pouring out, "No, you can't leave yet, I still need you so much! My life is just beginning, who will help guide me, who will help comfort me, give me wisdom?"

Broom patted her on the head and looked over at Abe, "You will still have someone who will do all that and more. More than I ever could, Sahara."

She cried, "No, I want you here! Please don't leave me, please don't leave us…Dad!" Her tears vocalized as she sobbed her heart out.
