"What?"

More silence offered.

"What?!"

More silence.

"WHAT?!"

Talon sighed, his forehead resting on his hand as he couldn't believe his own eyes. He glanced back up to look at the terribly disfigured Katarina but offered no comment on her new outward appearance. Cass on the other hand stifled each giggle, offering hisses every now and then. Talon sighed again and just stared into Katarina's eyes with extreme disbelief and disapproval. Honestly he began to feel like her father.

"White hair? Really Katarina?" Talon asked, he waved around his head to gesture and raised both hands in surrender.

Katarina in turn placed both hands on her hips and glared at the man. "I happen to think this is hot and cool, so you could cut that "Disproval" act already. I am a grown woman, a grown woman able to make a responsible and intellectual choice for myself," Katarina defended.

"The responsible and intellectual part is still questionable but you certainly can make your choices indeed," Talon retorted, he glanced around, offering a questioning glance at Cass before returning to look at Katarina. "Tell me something, does this have to do with the recent events that just transpired? Or you really want to make Riven at home and dyed your own hair White just so that she could feel more at ease?" Talon asked.

In the background Cass was unable to conceal all of her giggles and her fork tongue escaped every chance it had. Talon and Katarina paused momentarily to exchange a glare towards the younger De Couteuo sister before returning their glares towards one another.

"Talon stop being fatherly," Katarina simply responded before she walked towards the door, "It makes you seem older than you actually are," Katarina added before closing the door.

Talon sighed. Shrugging his shoulders as he turned around to address Cass, "Do you have a moment to spare?" Talon asked, his words sounded forced.

"I have plenty of moments to spare," Cass replied, her grin widening as she slithered closer to Talon.

Talon gulped, turning his head as he coughed. "I need your help to get me a formal wear, formal wear with my cape and hood of course," Talon muttered.

Cass gave him a lifted eyebrow, well her facial expression concealing nothing. Her giggles were not stifled and she almost landed on the floor. Talon grumpily waited for Cass to compose herself, his eyes shooting daggers into Cass as she wiped her eye to rid of the tears forming.

"Formal wear? For you?" Cass asked, "I don't even know where to begin with my questions!" She explained.

"Well to save you the trouble, don't bother asking questions and just get me something to wear for a party," Talon grounded out coldly.

Cass waved her hand, "That is easily done, I have my favorite tailor, well favorite that currently lives near the Institution of War anyways, but regardless this is by far the most amusing favor you had ever asked me," Cass responded, she coughed to stop her giggling, "Fine fine, I'll get it done in a matter of hours I just need to send them your measurements, of which I already have," Cass added as she slithered off to accomplish her friend's favor and leaving a very annoyed Talon in the room.

Hours before the Event. . .

"This is what you call nice?" Talon asked annoyingly. Cass giggled and nodded furiously.

"It is what I love to call, er, handsome? Yes handsome way of dressing," Cass responded. Talon eyed her and sighed heavily.

"I just hope Katarina doesn't catch wind of this," Talon muttered before looking at Cass with a deathly glare, "And I mean it, you tell no one," Talon said.

Cass nodded, "Yes, yes, now put it on! Quickly!" Cass ordered as she pointed to his room and her tongue flicked out with excitement of Talon wearing something other than his bland regular clothing.

A groan escaped his lips but Talon began to undress and put his new clothing on. The material was overall soft and a nice feel but when he looked at the mirror Talon felt ridiculous. His pants and shirts were black, with gold outlines and a purple slash running down diagonal on his shirt along with a cape that had the same color scheme with black and gold borders but it had a purple symbol of the Crimson Elite, the head of a falcon with double swords behind it. The hood of course was adorned with the same color scheme but to his dismay it did not feel right to put it on. He looked at his cuffs and found an interesting discovery that he could very well use this for actual assassinations and such. He shrugged the idea off from his mind of trying to arm himself. Talon rubbed his now shorter hair that barely hit his ears and with a final sigh he stepped outside of his room to show off Cass's design for him.

She squealed with delight and despite his best efforts Talon smiled, a small one but it still was a smile. "You look great! I hate how you refuse to allow me to get a picture of you though," Cass complained as she slithered up to Talon to give him a once over.

"And I hate people," Talon muttered as he pulled on his collar, it was a good fit but the collar was certainly something new to him, "And was the collar really needed?" Talon complained as he walked towards the door.

"Come on! You look great! And besides I doubt anybody will recognize you anyways, you look almost totally different," Cass offered her words of hope to the young assassin.

Talon rolled his eyes and gave Cass a small embrace, "Thank you," Talon said as he moved out of their home.

"So you aren't above thanking people," Cass giggled after their warm embrace, "Kata will certainly love to hear my story," Cass said to herself after she noted that Talon was indeed out of ear-shot.

The rooftops. . . .

Talon wanted to risk nothing to chance as he maneuvered his way to the party by running on the roofs of several shops and homes. The Institute was by and large its own world, a main city hub with a growing forest surrounding it to offer as much diversity as possible to other champions that desire such open air homes. The festival thankfully was being held in the City which offered plenty of hiding room for Talon. Jumping onto another roof he placed his hands forward to stop himself from landing on his knees. As he did not want to scrape his new clothing else he would never hear the end of it from Cass.

Sounds of festive people and loud music allowed Talon to target the festival. He slowly climbed down into an empty alleyway and dusted himself off as he stepped onto the streets. His eyes widen at the large amounts of people that choose to attend the festival today. Talon simply hope that no one he knew would be here or anybody that could possibly recognize him, aside from the Summoners as they were a tricky sort with their infinite magic pool that they somehow draw from the Institute of War. Talon ducked his way closer to the festival, dodging inquiring eyes and some women's winks as he would dare to lift his head to examine where he was currently at. Thus far no champions, well no champions that would make a scene or cause rumors of Talon he had saw Malphite the living Mountain a few moments ago simply standing still in the middle of the street. He doubted the living Mountain had noticed him anyways.

His eyes scanned the crowd, keeping sure to distance himself from the flash of gold platted armor that belonged none other than Jarvan the Fourth and the regal military uniform of the Grand General Swain. Both perspective leaders of their worlds attended the event mostly to try and gain influence and such. If not it gave them some great PR. Talon continued to stealthily move his way through the crowd, he found another entrance and there he spotted her.

She wore a modest blouse, white with gold rune lettering on her blouse's sleeves and her skirt reached the floor and hanged loosely from her waist, it too was white but had tan and gold slashes that matched perfectly with her blouse and skin. Her white hair framed her face and she had put on small white lines underneath her eyes to give a more exotic look but Talon knew the meaning of the lines. The lines were her Military Unit's crest that they wore proudly, four lines inside a circle symbolizing the four attributes of any proud Noxian Soldier.

Riven had spotted Talon as well, she noted how fiercely the man was looking at her, she smirked to hide her blush that still showed. Her legs were slow to command but move they did, Talon as well moved closer to Riven and within moments of navigating through the crowd the pair found one another and nodded in return.

"You look very clean and handsome Talon, and a different outfit as well," Riven smirked at Talon's attire, "So who's the lucky date that was honored to spend the night with you?" She asked.

It was Talon's turn to smirk back, "You are," He replied.

Riven opened her mouth to speak but no coherent words came out instead she managed a "Huh?" She shook her head to clear her mind, "Me?!" She asked with shock.

"You think I would have asked anybody else? I don't trust any woman to keep their mouth shut about this," Talon responded and he shrugged, "Besides Katarina had read your reports and she had a few questions but at the last moment something came up at our home in Noxus that required her to leave for the month, so I'm here to ask her questions," Talon added as he put his arm through Riven's as he lead her through the crowd and to a less crowded area of the festival.

Riven turned her head, as if she saw something, to hide her blush but with a stiff cough her resolve came back. "Well I guess I'll allow it," Riven said, "So Talon, what questions exactly?" Riven asked.

"In one of your accountants and notes you put in you said there was a Temple that Command specifically demanded not to be approached, in fact with the maps the entire Noxian War Machine marched into Ionia and avoided three spots on the map as if it were a plague," Talon explained, "It intrigued that High Command would not dare approach these temples selected on the map and upon further researching one of which was guarded by our very own Archer Varus, now I'm not sure what you know but were there something you noticed of the nearby towns and villages of these Temples that gave you any indication of what could have been worshiped or guarded?" Talon asked.

Riven bit her lip and thought for a moment before nodding, "The Sha Village had a large Serpent painting on several of their homes and flags and even their pots and vases had almost the same image of this Serpent looking picture. It was a simply black drawing but it looked like a snake with four legs, it's tongue hissing out and such," Riven answered before snapping her fingers, "The Village was also empty, but it seemed empty far before we marching into Ionia, it unnerved the men in our unit but a steady glare from the sergeants set them straight and we continued forward, not daring to investigate the Temple that was clearly visible from the Village, it was perhaps only three miles away," Riven added.

Talon nodded, putting his free hand on his chin to think, he shrugged, "It makes sense to why they would want to avoid such Temples but what doesn't make sense was the absent of the Crimson Elite infiltrate these temples, Noxus really had no desire to interact with these Temples and even Katarina who was available at the time to take the job of finding more of these Temples Ionia held so sacred," Talon explained.

Riven offered a small shrug, "As you and Katarina have read, my own unit had nothing to do with the Temples," Riven said as she pressed closer to Talon as they moved into a tight crowd.

"I know, but what was interesting with the Head Scientist that accompanied from Zaun, Singed," Talon said, hiding the small burning sensation he had when he felt Riven press against the side of his body. "He had some interest with the Temples, Katarina had pulled this information and he was attached to your Unit specifically," Talon added.

Riven sighed deeply, almost thankful for the mention of Singed, her feelings of hatred and regret overshadowed her strange feelings she was having being so close to the assassin. "He was and we hardly had much contact, aside from the usual Tactical Meetings and such he kept mostly to his own experiments and machines," Riven responded.

Talon nodded, finally the pair broke through the crowd and they emerged into the large Plaza that held the Ceremony of the Summoners to be recognized of the wisest and skilled of them all. The Plaza was large both had plenty of space around them but neither unlocked their arms as they simply stared at the grand showings.

"You know Talon," Riven started, breaking her gaze from the grey bearded Summoners, "You never made mention, well, any actual reasons of you and Katarina taking such interests in me," Riven said.

Talon looked into Riven's eyes, still their arms interlocked, "We see something," Talon responded, "We saw a chance, that perhaps we could use the opportunity you represent to us," Talon added.

"Opportunity for what?"

"War,"

". . . "

Silence engulfed the pair, a moment passed and Riven's eyes narrowed and she pulled away from Talon and stepped in front of him. Her glare was fiery and nearly caused Talon to flinch, nearly.

"War?!" Riven nearly shouted but managed to make it sound more of a loud whisper.

Talon raised both hands in defense, "Yes war, and don't think it Katarina and me that wish to start it, the wheels has been set in motion and despite Katarina's own thoughts I believe Lord General Swain will make his move if he had not so already," Talon explained. The crowd cheer loudly as a Trophy of some sort was presented and several images flickered into the sky as images of past matches were shown.

Riven chewed his words for a moment, no he was not intending to thrust her into war but, "But that still didn't answer my question Talon, how does me have to deal with this upcoming war and how does it pertain to you and Katarina?" Riven questioned.

Talon said nothing, his eyes moved to the images above him, a scene of Talon was shown and it was him expertly dispatching not just one or two but four champions in fast succession. Teemo, Vieger, Shaco and Annie felt the sharpness of his blade and ended dead on the field of Justice. What irony, the Fields of Justice.

Talon turned his attention to Riven who was getting impatient with him, "Katarina's father Marcus fell victim to what I believe a plot formulated by Lord General Swain to control Noxus and wage War on Valorean of likes it has never seen before. The fact is evident, you Riven hold power that none has ever seen, you Riven not only defies Swain but also upholds Noxian ideals that several respect. You Riven I believe will be a focal point in this War and Katarina and I hope to use the freedom from Swain's watchful eye as he focuses on you. Bare in mind, we are not sending false information to Swain or trying to have you targeted by him but I can see that you won't just stand idly as Swain moves along with his plans," Talon explained. Talon's eyes flickered to the side of Riven and almost instantly he swooped in closer to her and made motion to kiss her and embrace her, instead he pulled her closer and whispered softly, "Let us move away from here," and he wrapped his arms around Riven and walked briskly into the moving crowds.

Riven almost wanted to slap the man but at the same time almost wanted to exchange such kiss with this assassin, her hormones certainly did and to that she refused such girly nonsense. She nodded as she wrapped her arms around herself and allowed Talon to guide her through the crowd. They navigated through the Plaza, throngs of people, before finally reaching the end of the Plaza and Festival. Riven coughed and Talon quickly removed his arms from Riven and walked awkwardly a few feet away.

"The festival is almost over and I think I better leave now," Talon said, rubbing the back of his head, finding small talk hard to do as much as saying goodbye.

"Thank you I guess," Riven starte, regaining her comspure and her humor, "But truly you certainly don't intend to leave without a dance?" Riven asked, her innocent eyes lied about her mischievous intention.

Talon nearly gapped, "D-dance?" Taloned asked, "Oh come on, that was not part of the deal we had and besides what music? The festival is almost over an -"Talon was stopped midsentence by the soothing sound of what none could mistake the music of Sona. Her music was well known throughout the Institute and her music was being played quit loudly through the streets of the Inner City and Talon sighed. How magic worked he dared not attempt to understand, and if there was a God that Talon believed in perhaps he too had a sense of humor that match Riven's.

"Well that solves the music issue, what else?" Riven asked, her eyes gleaming and her mouth quirked into a smirk.

"I don't dance," Talon muttered softly, almost gulping admitting that he couldn't do something.

"What was that?" Riven asked, walking closer to the muttering assassin.

"I can't dance," Talon spat out, this time for coherently.

"I'll lead then," Riven offered, extending her hand to the man in front of her.

Talon eyed the hand and looked up at the woman, "Why do you even want a dance? And with me?" Talon asked.

Riven hid her blush well but her voice betrayed her, "Just something I thought would end this night well no?" Riven suggested before regaining her metal and reinforcing her question with "And what? Are you saying that a mere dance can scare you off?" She added.

Talon scoffed and accepted the hand as he was led into a waltz, or at least is what he would have called it if he knew what word to use to describe their awkward movements. Perhaps too many years of being alone in the street of Noxus but Talon felt practically tormented with his hands wrapped tightly around her waist and her own arms wrapped around him. At least when they were walking together he could have easily released her but here? He had no such chance.

Riven to her own amazement found that at least Talon had no two left feet, which was relief to say the least, but her own heart made it feel nervous as ever. The music lulled them away from their previous thoughts and soon Talon had forgotten his discomfort, along with Riven as well, but as the music began to close the strings slowed and before either knew it Sona strummed the last string and her music finished. Whatever speakers her music was coming from aburtly ended Talon and Riven's dance with a loud shout of "Thank you all for enjoying our festival! Please do not forget. . " And Talon and Riven had already zoned out the voice.

Both had released one another and Talon was the first to speak, "Well good night Riven," Talon said as he started to turn around with a small wave.

"Good night to you too," Riven responded back with a small smile, before adding, "And you aren't a bad dancer,"

Talon turned around, looking for the darkness to engulf him in, "None shall know about it," Talon threatened, "And you look lovely," With that Talon moved quickly into the shadows and disguised himself with the darkness.

With no one to see Riven allowed her cheeks to blossom into a cheery red color, placing her hand on her lips she turned around and walked back to the city. Keeping mostly to herself she managed to maneuver her way through the crowd leaving and heading back to their homes, she found several other Champions of the Institute and as more and more people left she found her way blocked by the Mountain known as Malphite, people were spilling on either side of him as he simply stood there. Riven sighed, and tapped on the rock, well more a steady punch but she doubted the being could notice the different.

His stony head moved downward and his glowing eyes bore into Riven's own Hazel eyes. His gravel voice boomed through the noise and nearly shook the floor, "Yes?" He asked heavily.

"You are blocking my way," Riven responded kindly, she doubted if it would care if she had shouted angrily but she did not wish the incur the wrath of this Titan.

Maplhite looked around and gave her a nod before extending his hand to the floor, "I'll move you to the other side," Malphite declared.

Riven raised an eyebrow but accepted the Living Rock's kind gesture and walked on his hand. The Living Rock lifted up the woman with ease and place her gently on the other side of him. She stepped off and gave Maplhite a wave and a smile, "Thank you," Riven said as she began to walk away but stopped before turning around and looking at Malphite.

"Why are you just standing here?" Riven asked.

Malphite lowered his head once more and looked Riven, after perhaps several moments he spoke, "Because I can look at that with no issue," Malphite responded as he gestured towards the sky, towards the moon. It was indeed bright and large, full of wonder to Riven.

"It is a beautiful sight," Riven commented.

"It is," Malphite spoke, his voice deep and cutting through the chatter of those around them, "And someday perhaps I can visit it," Malphite added.

Riven turned to look at the Living Rock and saw Malphite stare into the Moon. Riven smiled softly and made her way back to her room. Perhaps it was indeed the small things in life that would eventually lead to the larger life changing moments in her later life. She mused on what Talon had said, war was coming and she would be caught in the middle of it. No not caught, be the focal point of this war. Perhaps she had gained much fame and influence than she had first thought, there were those in Ionia that accepted her gift of forgiveness, than those in Frieglord with the Clans at constant struggle also wished to have Riven's support. Was she blind to her influence? If so what else had she missed? Was there more to Katarina and Talon's interest in her as well?
