HELLO! I did not think I would be posting a chapter but it looks like I did... Anyhoos its very very long. but I hope you enjoy it! I definitely did while writing :). So... I have nothing much to say so just go ahead and read the chapter while I finally go to bed :D
oh one thing, It's the first time I properly swore in my writing (I KNOW I"M GASPING IN SHOCK AT MY OWN AUDACITY) though I did asterisk it out but the meaning is pretty obvious... so just a warning :D
ENjoy!
Flashback
Misaki rolled her eyes "Bring your loud friend with you. I'd rather he not attract attention and get himself into a lot of trouble while we race. Bring him to the front, I'll meet you there in my GTR."
Takumi nodded and retreated up the stairs, he opened the door and walked out but turned his head back for a quick "Thanks Misaki" and continued out to the loud dance floor.
Misaki smiled softly to herself and prayed that she hadn't just made a huge mistake. Her family was one thing, but to involve completely innocent and slightly naïve fools in her roller coaster life was just not fair.
"Please God, don't let me lose him as well" she whispered to the darkness.]
End Flashback
Misaki stood in front of her car with a stony face as she waited for Takumi and his friend to show up. She watched as a drunk Hiro stumbled in her direction trying but failing to walk upright.
"Shoooo Ayuszhawa, ready to rashe with the love of your life?" Misaki's nose scrunched up in distaste.
"Back off bastard, I've already got a navigator" she said in a cold voice
Hiro looked up confused "But you neeever have navigathor!" he whined.
"I do this time, so back the f*** off." Hiro looked away confusion clear in his eyes. He was too wasted to get what was clearly going on, but to him, this had to be the harshest rejection that Misaki had ever given him.
He stumbled away unhappily but turned around again when he heard Misaki speaking to someone "YOU!" he yelled pointing at Takumi. "How dare you steal my girlfriend!"
Takumi looked at him with disgust on his face but before he could speak he felt Misaki move from beside him. He watched as Misaki walked up to Hiro and grabbed him by the collar. "Let's get this straight Hiro" she hissed "I am not your girlfriend, I will never be your girlfriend, and if you dare harm a hair on my navigator's head or any of his friends I will personally come to murder you the consequences be damned."
Hiro gulped in fear. Misaki's aura was a little more subtle this time, not flaring up like normal but it seemed even scarier like this, like a snake waiting to attack its prey. Misaki noted the fear and acceptance in his eyes "Good" she said "Oi! You two!" she called out.
The two men she had called turned to face her "Take Hiro back inside and get him sobered up, the race is about to start soon. He might want to be awake for it." The two recognizing who she was nodded and grabbed Hiro from underneath his arms and dragged him back to his house.
Misaki then walked purposefully back to the waiting Takumi and his friend. She didn't look at his face, she needed to get her emotions under control again before she did. She opened the driver seat and sat inside before closing the door she commanded "Get it."
Takumi and Tora quickly obeyed and while Takumi rode shotgun, Tora scrambled into the back seats. The car remained silent as Misaki fiddled with her GPS system and set her destination. The race started near Tokyo International Airport and ended in a gang owned port near Funenokaguakukan Station. It was approximately 12 km away depending on the route she took. She had a special setting, the epic engineer that she was, to take her through side roads with less traffic and no toll routes on the way. Her route would also change depending on traffic conditions and cop schedules, but she always made it in the end, (in first place).
After setting her destination Misaki drove slowly towards the starting point which was a few kilometers away. She picked out and pushed in a random CD and pressed play. She kept the volume relatively low as she drove.
Other than the sound of the song the car was silent, even though Misaki knew that the man in the back was burning with questions. After a few minutes of silent driving Misaki sighed and asked "What do you want to ask?"
Takumi and Tora jumped slightly, startled that she had spoken first. "Wh… what do you mean?" Tora asked hesitantly.
"You're burning up with questions, might as well ask them before you implode."
Tora looked at Misaki in the rear view mirror and then at Takumi's head. "What the hell is going on?" he finally asked.
Misaki finally looked at Takumi and raised an eyebrow "You didn't tell him?" she asked.
"Not very much" he admitted "Just enough to get him to follow me."
Misaki sighed internally, how wonderful, she thought to herself. "We're going to a race that I'm taking part in and I'm brought Takumi along so that I could avoid that piece of swine Hiro. And I'm bringing you along because you walked in with Takumi and if you were left on your own, who knows what would have happened to you."
Tora quirked his brow in confusion "Why would they hurt me? I'm just attending a party? And why would it matter that I was with Takumi?"
Misaki's eye twitched slightly as she realized that she would have to explain fully. "I'm an area leader for the Gold Dragons…" she paused momentarily as she heard Tora inhale sharply, but she continued on before he could speak. "If I hadn't taken Takumi, the bastard Hiro would have come with me, but by taking Takumi, any other gang member around will realize that he is somehow affiliated with me and may attack him or anyone around him if he thought it would affect me. So by bringing you along I'm keeping you away from dangerous hands and with my proclamation to Hiro everyone else should understand that if they dare harm you, they will face the wrath of an area leader in the Gold Dragons."
Tora remained silent as he absorbed in what Misaki had just said "How on earth did you two become friends?" he asked finally wondering what connection Takumi might have to someone extremely high up in the biggest gang in Tokyo.
Misaki and Takumi looked at each other and amusement passed on their faces. Misaki stayed silent as Takumi answered this time. "Well you could call it a case of my bad sense of direction. I had just arrived in Tokyo and I was trying to find my way to my building and I got lost along the way and met Misaki in an alley fighting some big fat guy. I thought she needed help and valiantly jumped out to save her. And then she yelled at me for interfering and we became fast friends."
Misaki snorted "You're such an idiot."
Takumi grinned "You're only saying that cause you've lived in Tokyo all your life. This place is a labyrinth!"
Misaki chuckled "No its not, you just can't tell left from right." Takumi made a face but ignored Misaki's jibe towards him.
In the light teasing Tora had come to a decision "Alright, I've decided." That definitely caught the attention of Misaki and Takumi.
"What?" Takumi asked.
"I trust you" he said simply to Misaki.
Misaki stayed silent for a moment and observed him through her mirror "I'm glad to hear it" she said with a small smile playing at her lips. "So tiger, you got a name or what?" she asked.
Takumi burst into laughter at how close she was to Tora's name. "What?" she asked annoyed at his sudden laughter.
Tora chuckled as well "Well see that's it, my name is tiger, otherwise known as Tora."
Misaki gave a bemused smile and shook her head at the strange situation. "Lucky guess I suppose."
The other two continued to chuckle but it died down after a few moments. By this time the trio had arrived at the start of the race. Misaki shut off her radio before getting her car in position. As she was a reigning champion, she always got pole. (A/N. In formula1 terms this means first position and she starts in front of everyone else. Just for those who aren't nutters like me :))
Takumi noted Misaki's face becoming blank as all emotion left her before he could say anything she spoke, almost as if knowing what he was about to ask. "Don't worry, I'm fine. Just getting ready."
"If we speak will we break your concentration?" Tora asked curiously.
"Technically yes, but probably not. I tend to go into the 'Zone' when I race so not much gets to me but the direction and the race. I may or may not take part in your conversation, depends on how the race is going."
"Are you worried?" Takumi asked.
At that Misaki's face lit up slightly as she snorted in amusement "Please, I could destroy these guys with my eyes closed. I just prefer to give it my all. It doesn't feel right lazing around when I'm seriously battling someone."
"So chivalrous" Takumi said sarcastically.
"Oh shut up. Pick whichever CD you want, put it on, and listen to it in silence like a good boy."
Takumi rolled his eyes "Yes mother" he said, for the second time that night (A/N he said that in the previous chapter).
Takumi picked up a random CD and pushed it in after taking the previous one out. He couldn't find its cover so he just put it in the one that had just emptied. After turning it on the heavy instruments of AC/DC filtered into the car.
Tora raised an eye brow "AC/DC? Seriously?"
Takumi shrugged "It was the first one I picked." Tora shrugged in a 'whatever' gesture and turned to stare out the tinted windows as other cars began to pull up.
The car next to them had its windows down and the guy in the seat was waving his arms at Misaki. Misaki sighed and lowered the window knowing she was going to regret it.
"Hey! Ayuzawa!" The nasally voice called out. It set Misaki on edge. "Good luck on the race today! You'll need it while facing me!" The woman in the seat beside him giggled as if he had told a wonderful joke.
Misaki rolled her eyes and responded back with a small smirk "Keep saying that Taka, maybe one of these days it might actually get you laid."
Takumi bit the inside of his cheek to stop himself from laughing at the expression on Taka's face. He opened his mouth to retort but Misaki just pulled up her window so his screams of anger and stupidity were lost on her.
"Idiot, he's been saying that for years and he's never even come close to me. It's a surprise he's starting in second instead of last where he usually does" Misaki said with contempt.
Her eyes were now focussed on the road again as a tall woman cat-walked to the middle of the road. She was wearing hooker boots with incredibly high heels and short booty shorts paired off with a bright red midriff baring top that barely covered her chest. She stood in front of the cars confidently and lifted the large checkered flag behind her. Misaki took in a large breath of air as she slightly revved the car. Her right hand was on the clutch and she let go of her breath as the flag went down.
Misaki's hand pushed the clutch forward and her car lurched ahead picking up speed at an astounding rate. She followed a curvy stretch of road staying to the side to avoid anyone hitting her car as he passed by.
After about 500 metres she turned sharply right keeping the tail of her car in. People thought drifts looked cool, and she would agree whole heartedly, but while drifting her speed would be reduced drastically and when she pulled out of the drift it would take her time to build up the same speed again.
Misaki speeded along shifting to a higher gear as she passed 100 kilometers per hour (speed). She coasted around another bend still in the lead and followed her GPS's directions into a small road that was, from what she could see relatively empty. Behind her she could hear the roaring engines of her opponents as they followed behind her. One of them caught up and tried to by-pass her on the road. Misaki let him, knowing that she would be able to make up for that at the next turn.
"Oi! He just passed you!" Tora yelled as he held onto the door of the car for dear life. Misaki ignored him and she concentrated on slowing down a little just before she took a sharp turn to the left, speeding away while the man who had just passed her was pulling out of a drift and starting to pick up speed.
She smirked as she saw his furious face in her side mirror when he saw her speed past him. Just then she heard the loud wail of sirens and her face turned into a frown "Shit, the cops are on us. Just my luck." She swerved to the left to pass by a civilian car on the road and got back into her lane.
"Will we be ok?" Takumi asked looking over his shoulder to see the cop cars chasing after them.
"We'll be fine" Misaki responded calmly as she took another sharp turn to the right such that the cops just coasted by and continued straight on the road while she had already turned and was speeding away.
She grinned slightly at her little trick as she saw the cops far behind finally turning into the road that she was on. Despite her annoyance, she had to admit that the cops made the race so much more fun.
There were only a few more kilometres left in the race and she zoomed ahead joining a larger road that would take her directly towards the ports. Even at this time of night the roads were full and she was concentrating on swerving through all the cars and avoiding her opponents and cops at the same time. Not all of the cars were here as a few people had taken different routes.
Misaki was about to take another turn left when a pedestrian suddenly ran out onto the streets. Her eyes wide she jerked onto the sidewalk jumping up a little and then pulling to the left to avoid the pole she was about to run into. She maneuvered around a gaggle of pedestrians gawking at the flashy cars running from the sirens and turned onto the road without major incident.
She let out a sigh of relief as the runaway pedestrian reached the other side of the road safely. That was pretty close, she thought as she pulled another turn into the side roads of the harbor. The cops' sirens were now far behind her as she drove through silent and small harbor roads.
Misaki was way ahead of everyone, as usual, and now she coasted confidently to the finish line. She slowed the car and pulled onto the side to allow other cars to pass and so that she could get out of the car.
She let out a triumphant win when the car pulled to a stop. "Phew, that was fun!" she said happily.
Takumi and Tora just stared at her as if was insane. "What?" she asked defensively.
"That was fun?" Tora asked hysterically "I thought I was about to die at so many times that I lost count as I tried not to piss in my pants!"
Misaki burst into laughter at his wild expression and his words of horror. "Oh calm down Tora, you get used to it, and eventually start to enjoy the rush."
"Mad woman" he muttered under his breath. Misaki just chuckled at his response.
"Wait in the car, I'll be right back." And with that Misaki stepped out of the car to go collect her prize. She walked to Kuro-san and he sat there smiling as he waited for her.
"Well done Misa-chan! Another brilliant race. Here's your winning. You can count it when you get back to the car. And a job well done! Get home and get some rest before class tomorrow."
Misaki smiled and leaned over and kissed his cheek "Thanks Kuro-san. Take care!" Misaki turned around and walked back to the car with the large briefcase in her right hand. She waved at a few people who congratulated her and grinned victoriously at the foot soldiers that resided in her area. They all whooped enthusiastically as their leader walked back to her car with her winnings.
Misaki's racing brought respect to their area and wiped out any doubts in people's mind of a female area leader.
Once back in the car Misaki placed the briefcase in the backseat and quickly drove out of the harbor roads and onto a small side road. "Well…" Takumi finally started "That was… it was new…"
Misaki smiled, "I'm glad you enjoyed that. Would you like to try it again someday?" she asked sardonically.
Takumi surprised her by shrugging his shoulders "Why not, just let me sleep in for a week to calm my nerves before I attempt it again."
Misaki giggled at his honesty and patted his shoulder. "Thanks for accompanying me Takumi, you too Tora. Remind me to treat you guys sometime for joining me on the race. For now let's get you two home."
"That would be much appreciated" Tora said in a weak voice. Misaki just chuckled heartily and drove back to the city. She dropped off Tora first and waved him off with a promise to join the group for lunch the next day.
She then drove towards Takumi's apartment. "He's really pushy isn't he?" she asked Takumi.
He rolled his eyes "Like a bull running after red. He doesn't stop till he gets what he wants."
Misaki smiled and the two were silent until they reached Takumi's apartment. Takumi turned to look at Misaki and noted the small but absolutely beautiful smile on Misaki's face.
"Thank you for the new experience" he said jokingly not ready to leave her just yet.
Misaki's smile grew and he noticed her eyes soften "Thanks for accompanying me Takumi. It really was brave and stupid of you. But thank you nonetheless. I haven't had this much fun around another person in a while."
Takumi smiled back, grateful at her honesty. "You are always welcome Misaki." He went into silence for a moment before continuing, "Well… I guess I'll see you at lunch then. Bye Misa!"
Takumi opened the door and was about to step out when he heard a quiet "Takumi?" He quickly turned his head back towards Misaki and looked at her questioningly.
Misaki was fiddling in her seat and she looked indecisive. After a few moments she finally looked up and leaned closer to his face. She lightly pecked his cheek and pulled back quickly.
"Uhh ya bye Takumi… see you tomorrow." Takumi robotically stepped out of the car and closed the door waving as she drove off. He placed his fingers on his cheek where Misaki had kissed him. Her lips were so soft… he thought to himself as he stared after the disappearing car.
Soooo That's all for now! I hope you all enjoyed this chapter :).
And before I go another quick question, Many people want a sequel for shots, problem is, I don't know what to write, shots was meant to be a stand alone so uhm (I've probably asked this before) but if you guys have any good and interesting ideas (I obviously don't) I'd love to hear them :)
Peace out
