Chapter 10! Which is Luxord's number. Yup, you can defeat people with giant poker cards, that is what this Gambler Master taught us! XD
Enjoy!
I'm screwed.
That was the only thing that was in his mind. The figure didn't know what else to think; only that he was the wrong guy for this type of job. Him and the Keyblade Master sat there what seemed like ages to him, staring at each other. The figure's gloves were beginning to get soaked with sweat, and he shuddered slightly at the uncomfortable feeling.
"What's your name?" she repeated.
He almost jumped, her voice scaring him out of his thoughts.
"Have you forgotten?" she continued.
The figure immediately shook his head, regretting the decision afterwards. Why didn't I lie!? I'm such an idiot… He sighed with irritation and glanced at Kairi for a moment. The lady noticed and her eyes narrowed almost instantly. The figure's blood froze, captured in fear. Calm down! Remember the mission. He slowly cleared his throat, his soaked gloves getting too hard to bear.
"I'm…Deeee…." The hooded figure trailed off awkwardly, realizing his mistake. He quickly continued, "I'm Dei." He stiffened as Aqua stared at him, obviously debating if he was telling the truth.
"Dei…" she repeated, as if testing the word.
Does she believe me? The figure wondered, I should have come up with a better name! He nervously waited for a reply. Aqua only stared at him for a few seconds before turning her attention back to Kairi. He sighed, relieved.
"So, how did you get stuck here?"
He almost groaned. Why, why me? The hooded figure fixed his attention back to Aqua. What should I say? He scratched his shoulder anxiously. "Um… I d-don't remember clearly…" the figure replied uncertainly, hoping it didn't sound stupid.
Aqua only nodded, not opening her mouth.
The hooded member now glanced at her with curiosity. How did she end up here? "What about you?" he asked before he could stop himself. The figure braced himself for another question but received none. Instead, Aqua sadly smiled. "Me? Let's just say that I saved a friend that was being taken over by the darkness. Only one of us could have gotten out. I'm sure you could guess who did."
He didn't reply. That's interesting… The figure wanted to ask about Kairi but that would lead to more questions that he did not know how to answer. As long as she doesn't figure out who I am, I guess I could say I'm safe… at least until Kairi wakes up. The member was positive that the princess would attack if she took one look at his coat.
It's not like she's going to wake up soon… I hope.
The figure uncomfortably sat in front of the keyblade master. He knew that their conversation wouldn't be smooth sailing. Well, for him of course.
As Aqua opened her mouth to speak, the princess began to stir.
Oh no…why?!
…
Her whole body ached, her head felt like it was about to burst and her legs felt like jelly. Kairi groaned, trying to open her eyes but her eyelids felt so heavy. Her body couldn't even sit up, no matter how many times she ordered it to.
What had happened?
Kairi desperately tried to remember, groaning during the process. Slowly, Kairi opened her eyes. She didn't know if she was dreaming or not. Kairi sat in an endless, white room that seemed to go on forever. The princess looked around, finding only white.
"Where…am I?" she asked herself, the room making her uneasy. With some effort, Kairi stood on unsteady legs, taking some deep breaths. She looked around again, hoping to see something that struck out but everything was the same. She didn't know why it bothered her; the room was white, resembling light. So why did she feel this way?
Shaking it off, Kairi took a few steps forward. Almost instantly, the room tilted and she lost her balance. The princess let out a small yelp as she crashed to the ground. Then she was sliding. Kairi wanted to scream so badly but no noise came out of her mouth. Her mouth was open in a silent scream and even though nothing came out, her throat felt raw. She continued to slide down and she tried to grab onto anything that would stop her but the floor was completely smooth, nothing sticking out.
Kairi began to pick up speed, her hair waving around madly. Her heart was racing, she didn't know if she was going to stop. To make things worse, the floor tilted awkwardly the other direction, throwing her back. Kairi's head hit the floor with a sickening thud, making her see black for a few moments. Instead of opening her eyes again, Kairi shut them tight afraid to see what was going to happen next.
Everything felt disoriented, as if the room was stretching and spinning. Her stomach churned, unable to take the horrible movements. Then an atrocious scream pierced the air, making Kairi's ears pop and head hurt.
The scream continued for what seemed like an eternity and Kairi put her hands over her ears, trying to block it out. What's happening? She wailed.
And then, it stopped.
The screaming, the spinning, everything disappeared. It seemed as it never happened. Even the throbbing in Kairi's brain went away. She felt normal, like if it was only a dream. But that did not make her feel any better.
Taking a few shaky breaths, Kairi made herself open her eyes afraid to be in the endless room. To her relief, it was gone. Now, Kairi sat in the center of a circular, stained glass floor. The glass held a picture of her on the middle holding Destiny's Embrace in her left hand and in the other, her lucky charm. Her eyes were closed as well. On each side of Kairi's head were two small circles which contained a picture.
"Sora…Riku…Donald…Goofy…" Kairi whispered as she glanced at each one. It made her sad, when was the last time she had seen them? Especially Sora? There was a small pain in her chest as the question emerged. She dearly missed the happy-go-lucky brunette. Kairi just wanted to see him again. "I guess we'll see each other after I finish my mission…" she murmured sadly. The princess continued to stare at her friends' pictures, idly wondering where she was.
Kairi didn't expect the sudden pain on her heart. She gasped, falling to her knees and holding her chest. It had felt if someone had just stabbed her. Kairi breathed heavily, placing a hand against the glass. The pain spread across her body, making her tremble and cough.
"W-What's…going…o-on…" she wheezed between the coughs.
Something was instantly beside her, shaking her shoulder while saying something Kairi couldn't catch. What?
"Kairi…" a voice echoed.
The princess tried to open her eyes but failed.
"Kairi…" the voice was louder, familiar.
Kairi moaned in response, unable to form words. Aqua?
"Kairi!"
The princess snapped her eyes open, hoping to see the Keyblade Master but to her dismay, she was still on the stained glass. The pain hadn't left but Kairi wasn't worried by that anymore. The sides of the glass were beginning to get swallowed by feathers of darkness, slowly making its way toward her. She sat there, frozen with shock and fear.
"This isn't good,"
Kairi stiffened, hearing Namine's voice. "N-Namine?" she whispered squinting. Right in front of the princess, Namine was appearing little by little. Kairi took a deep breath. "What's going on?"
The Nobody sadly stared at the princess. "The darkness…is taking over your heart." The blonde sounded surprisingly calm.
Kairi tilted her head, her eyes widening in fear. "W-What? But…" she trailed off noticing that her arm was fading. She swore her heart skipped a beat. The princess sat there, speechless. The darkness continued to close in, already next to the four pictures.
Namine closed her eyes, placing a hand over her chest. "Kairi… you have been in the darkness for too long. Your heart attracted so much of it since it is full of light. The darkness… was patiently waiting for you to get hurt or weak…so it could consume you."
It then clicked. That explained the pain she was receiving. Her heart was desperately trying to fight back but it was clearly losing. So that meant she was going to fade while Namine gained a solid body. Kairi shook her head. "No… I can't let this happen"
Her Nobody opened her eyes again, the sapphire orbs filled with sadness and guilt. "There is nothing you can do…neither can I. I'm sorry Kairi…" the blonde whispered, her body becoming more visible while Kairi's faded. Kairi continued to shake her head. "No…I won't let this happen." She repeated.
The Somebody and Nobody stared at each other, both feeling useless and powerless. Namine bowed her head. "Fighting it…won't work. It's already too late," she murmured gesturing to the small space the light still had.
Kairi gritted her teeth. "It's never too late, I won't just surrender…" she then stood wincing slightly. Namine seemed shocked for a moment before faintly smiling. "I guess it won't hurt to try." Kairi only nodded holding her hand out to Namine. The blonde took it, even though it was almost invisible. Please, Aqua help me…
Namine, hearing Kairi's thought, nodded in response. The princess felt another jolt of pain but she ignored it, trying to forge her light with Namine's. Even though Namine had always said she was made of darkness, Kairi knew that her Nobody also had light. This has to work, the both thought at the same time, concentrating .
Then, a small orb of light appeared between their hands.
Poor Kairi... I hope that Aqua somehow helps her...
I believe that the next chapter will continue where this left off so I wouldn't leave it at a awkward part.
