Chapter 10 On my own

Kagome sat on her throne in deep thought. Her head rested on her fist as she stared out through her dark courtroom. It had been awhile since she had visited the shrine in which she had lost herself in. She promised she would never go back but there was a call that was coming from the holy land and it had her curious as to who it or what it was. What could want her go there? It wasn't a soul; there was an certain energy around souls. No, it was alive and thriving. Frowning her brows deeper, she stood and walked down the many steps of her throne room. Her legs carried her to her son's room. She opened the door to see his nanny finish changing his diaper. The nanny turned to her ruler and bowed with a small smile. Homaru made a chirping noise at her presence.

"He is all done sir." She smiled.

Kagome nodded. "Thank you. You are to have the rest of the day and tomorrow off. You have earned it."

The nanny smiled a little brighter. "Thank you very much sir!" she bowed again.

I walk alone
Think of home
Memories of long ago
No one knows I lost my soul long ago

Kagome moved to pick up Homaru carefully. He looked up at her with those eyes that reminded her of Sesshomaru. A soft smile came across her face about the man she loved. Shaking her head, she held his little body close to hers as she turned and left the room. Summoning her scathe, she tore open a portal into the human world. Making herself and Homaru more human like features took a little longer but eventually they transitioned just fine. Her scathe disappeared upon her will.

It was dark out in the human world. Night had fallen. Kagome stood under a street light with Homaru close to her. She stood in front of the shrine with narrowed eyes. Someone was in there. Humming deeply, she looked at her son. Homaru had his thumb in his mouth but seemed to be on guard much like herself. A smile spread across her face.

"You really are too much like your father." She commented.

Homaru made a shrugging like motion.

Shaking her head, Kagome ascended up the stairs without much effort before stopping at the top. Her eyes looked into the window to see figures walking around. A figure paused at the window and seemed to be peering out. Kagome could see just fine at who it was. Her eyes widened at the person as she stared at back at them. The figure raced away from the window and out through the front door. A spitting image of Kagome's old human-self stood out in the doorway. The look of shock was written across that face as a hand came up to her mouth. Tears were in her eyes as she took slow steps toward Kagome.

Kagome did nothing as NAT appeared next to her. Whispering about Sesshomaru-sama looking for her, Kagome nodded to him without saying much anything but NAT knew. Homaru made a noise as he stared at the woman who looked something like his mother. The woman made a loud sobbing noise as she stared at her daughter.

"Kagome." She whispered as tears fell down her eyes.

Kagome stood there with a blank expression. "Kagone."

Lied too much
She said that she's had enough
Am I too much
She said that she's had enough

Sesshomaru sat at his desk with a deep frown. The light grey suit in which he was wearing seemed tighter at the moment. He had on a light blue tie that seemed to almost choke him. His school work had already been finished and now he sat at his job which his father had run when he was alive. Being the CEO, he had to make important business decisions. Right now, he was trying to decide if he wanted to go see his love or stay and finish a few pieces of paperwork. Sighing mentally, he looked at the few pieces of paper and was prepared to sign the papers when NAT appeared beside him.

"NAT." Sesshomaru greeted.

"Sesshomaru-sama, I found Kagome-sama. She is located at the old family shrine." NAT responded softly.

"Why is she there?" Sesshomaru asked standing.

"I know not Sesshomaru-sama. She and Homaru are there." NAT answered.

Sesshomaru sighed softly. "Thank you NAT. I want you to go there and make sure she and Homaru are kept safe till I arrive." He ordered.

NAT nodded before disappearing.

Standing on my own
Remembering the one I left at home
Forget about the life I used to know
Forget about the one I left at home

Kagone took a step closer to her daughter as she stared at the back her without any emotion in her eyes. Sadness riddled her form at the blank expression written across her face. The child in her hands had the same one yet favored someone else. She stopped in front of her daughter. Deep red shimmers in her black eyes gleamed with hidden meaning. What had happened to her daughter?

"Why are you calling me here?" Kagome asked in dull voice.

"Calling you? How could I call you when I thought you were dead? I prayed to God that I could see you again over and over." Kagone answered confused.

"For what?"

"I missed you. I came back here to find the place abandoned and tore apart with blood everywhere. We thought you were dead." Kagone whispered as bigger tears fell.

Kagome hummed. "Who is we?"

The door opened once more.

"Mom? Are you out here?" A tiny voice asked.

"Yes dear, I'm down here by the steps." Kagone answered never looking away from the splitting image of her.

"Souta is being mean again mom. He said that I was ugly." A little girl appeared out of the darkness to where Kagome stood.

The little girl had dark brown hair and was a little lighter than her mom. Big green eyes stared at her in confusion as she moved to Kagone. She was clothed in some old clothes that Kagome used to wear. The girl stood beside her mom with a deep frown as she stared at the other woman holding a baby. The baby just stared at her with placid eyes before looking away from her.

"Mom who is this?" the little girl asked.

"This is your older sister Kagome. Kagome this is Yana." Kagone sighed as she wiped her tears.

"This is Kagome? I thought she was dead."

Kagome clenched her jaws.

Again the door opened.

"Honey? Is Yana with you?" A male asked.

"Yes dear, so is Kagome." Kagone answered.

"I thought she was gone." The male spoke as he walked to the three of them.

"No she is very much so alive." Yana responded.

The male showed himself to Kagome. Big green eyes stared at her in wonder and shock as she returned nothing. He stood tall with long black hair held in a low ponytail. Those green eyes of his continued to stare at Kagome with some tears beginning to form. She was alive and healthy. And she was even holding a baby! But the look of her black eyes with the red shimmer had him questioning what was wrong with her.

I need to run far away
Can't go back to that place
Like she told me
I'm just a big disgrace

"Kagome." He whispered.

"Kon."

Homaru made a noise and began to fidget. Kagome looked down at her son as he started to whine. Sesshomaru must have been near. Homaru only reacted to Sesshomaru like that. Sighing deeply, she put him on her shoulder and patted his back.

"So you replaced me with Yana?" she nodded her lips sucked in to keep foul words from leaving.

"No Kagome. That's not how it happened." Kagone spoke up.

"Then explain to me how it happened!" Kagome shouted. "You picked up and left me here to rot alone by myself." Her red shimmers began to burn like a fire.

"Kagome." Another voice called from behind her.

She didn't have to turn to look in order to know that was Sesshomaru. He grabbed their son from her hands as she tried to calm herself down. But it didn't help. In fact it only served to make her angrier.

"We didn't mean to leave you there but I couldn't take you with us. I know you could take care of yourself and the shrine till we got back. I missed you every day." Kon answered.

"You missed me huh?" a scoff left her mouth.

"Yes."

"You missed me?! Do you even know what happened to me?! While you were away doing whatever it was that you were doing, I was raped! But your problems were probably worse right?!" she said in sarcasm. "How dare you pray to see someone in which you have abandoned? The only one that came to my rescue is the man behind me. But you missed me. Ha!" Kagome walked closer to her mother and stared at her. "You haven't meant anything to me since the day you left." She moved to Yana. "Enjoy this life while you can. They'll leave you too." Her eyes cut to her Kagone's form with a hateful glare. Moving to her father, she stared at his eyes with rage and pain. Little by little the skin began to peel away. "I hope you hurt just as much as I did." She said as she turned away, her hair whipping around behind her.

"Kagome wait!" Kon called.

Kagome turned abruptly and pointed her finger at him as her skin on her hands began to fade. "I will hear nothing of it!" She roared as her scathe appeared.

Cutting open a portal, she let Sesshomaru and Homaru enter into the portal as she stared at the three. Her eyes narrowed. Claws appeared as she held the scathe tightly before slamming it into the ground. "Death is cutting ties with you all." She growled before turning and walking into the portal.

Lied too much
She said that she's had enough
Am I too much
She said that she's had enough

Once Kagome made it into the Underworld, she let out all her power pour in pure annoyance. It swept through the Underworld and alerted everyone that their ruler was highly upset. She paced the courtroom in blistering furry. How dare they?! They missed her? Missed her? Where were they when she was being bullied at school? Where were they when she was being raped by her 'best friend'? Or when he locked her up in the living room with a chain around her neck? Did they even care that he beat her close to death? The skin on her face and arms was gone, leaving bones to show as she let deep red fire surround her form. Her scathe was gripped tightly as she slammed it into the ground as wave after wave shot out throughout the palace and to the other citizens.

Sesshomaru appeared in the throne room with Homaru fast asleep in his arms. Again their heartbeats were in sync as he slept with in his arms. Sesshomaru stared at his pacing love. She was far too upset to listen to the words he had to say. He watched her walk up her throne steps and sit down with a plop. Her fist clenched as her scathe flew to her hand. She didn't know why she was so mad but it felt good. She calmed with a flat look as she sat back into her chair.

"Kagome." Sesshomaru called as he stood at the bottom of the stairs.

"Sesshomaru." She answered looking down at him.

Sesshomaru jumped the stairs till he stood in front of her. Handing her Homaru, he rubbed his son's head before looking at her. He let his hand trail on her cheek as he stared at her bones. "I am going to talk to your family. You need to go visit Hades but take NAT with you." Sesshomaru spoke softly to his angry woman. She nodded at him as she cut open a portal for him to go through. He turned and walked through the portal.

Standing on my own
Remembering the one I left at home
Forget about the life I used to know
Forget about the one I left at home
So now I'm standing here alone
I'm learning how to live life on my own

Sesshomaru walked to the door with a heavy sigh. It was uncharacteristic for him to show any emotion but this situation was very delicate and it could very well cost some people their lives. Knocking softly on the door, he waited but a moment as the door opened up. Kagome's red eyed mother answered the door with sadness filling his nose.

"You're the young man who was with my daughter." Kagone commented with a slight sob.

"Indeed. May I come in?" he asked politely.

Kagone nodded as she stepped to the side and allowed the much taller male to enter into her home.

Sesshomaru took note of how clean the place looked since the last time he saw it. But he could still remember the blood stains all over the place and how bad it had looked before. Making his way into the kitchen, he grabbed her chair as he seated himself. His hands folded on the table as Kagone and Kon joined him there. Another male walked into the kitchen and stared at the trio.

"Who's he?" the male asked.

"Souta, this is… I'm sorry I didn't get your name." Kagone replied.

"I am Sesshomaru Tashio, the father of your daughter's son." Sesshomaru answered.

"So that really was her baby?" Kon sighed.

Sesshomaru nodded.

"Souta dear, have a seat or go and play with Yana." Kagone sighed.

Souta sucked his teeth and rolled his eyes as he sat down.

"I am here to help you understand your daughter. But first I need answers."

"Anything." Kagone replied quickly.

"Why did you leave your daughter here alone?" Sesshomaru asked as he sat back and folded his arms.

"I owed a lot of many to some gangsters. They price on all of our heads but Kagome's. They seemed to take a liking to her. Every time they came, they were always asking for her. When I couldn't get the money in time, I had to pack up the family and leave till I made the money back with interest. We were gone for 4 years but we figured Kagome could take care of things here and would be safe. When we came back the place was a mess and there was blood everywhere. It looked as though an animal had once lived here. We took it as she had died and no one knew who had done it." Kon answered with a forlorn sigh.

Sesshomaru moved his hand into his inside pocket and pulled out a stack of pictures. Sitting them on the table, he spread them out one by one without so much as word. The pictures in which he had laid in front of them were of the night he retrieved her from this place. He looked down at them before looking at the people sitting across from him. Their reactions were what he expected more or less but a little unsettling as well.

"I will not say much about your daughter's past but what you have done has done far more damage than any hand or blade could have done to her. She was raped by one of our peers and had continued to beat on her. I intercepted your daughter days prior and offered a way out. He held her hostage in this house for many days while I took care of our daughter. This is the condition I retrieved her in. It took many days and patience for her to fully recover." Sesshomaru explained as he stared at a photo of her scared eyes looking ready to run.

"My baby has babies?" Kagone whispered as she stared at the photos and let his words sink in.

"Kagome has adopted my daughter Rin. She has given birth to my son Homaru." Sesshomaru answered.

"What has happened to her? Why doesn't she look human anymore?" Kon asked holding his wife.

"She is Death, the ruler of the Underworld." And with that Sesshomaru stood. He turned to leave before pausing and looking over his shoulder at the small voice of her father calling him.

"Who are you to her?" Kon asked.

"I am Death's lover and mate." Sesshomaru answered as he continued out the house. Leaving the family with the photos of the old Kagome, he wondered if they would try to reconcile with their daughter.

Lied too much
I think that I've had enough
Am I too much
She said that she's had enough

Kagome had just got back from Hades domain with one of the pups from Cerberus. The three headed dog roamed around her room as she held Homaru. The pup was already half of Kagome's size He sat there for a moment before looking at his new owner with pride in his eyes. Homaru made a noise that caught the pup's attention. He walked over to his new owner and rested his head in her lap. Kagome let her free hand pet one of his heads as Homaru reached for another head.

"You know your job is to protect my children and this palace right?" She asked the pup.

He nodded to her.

"If you do your job well, I will treat you like the beauty you are. You will be well taken care of and fed daily. I will let you do as you like under my rule understand?"

He nodded once more to her.

"What should we name you?" Kagome thought out loud. Tapping her chin, she smiled at the name that she had decided. "How about Demios? Your name means to fear. People here in the Underworld will fear you much they fear your father and mother in Hades domain. I will not keep you locked away on a soul-full river."

A happy barked escaped him.

"Demios it is."

I'm standing on my own
Remembering the one I left at home
Forget about the life I used to know
Forget about the one I left at home
So now I'm standing here alone
I'm learning how to live life on my own
Forget about the past I'll never know
Forget about the one I left at home

"Come now Demios, it is time you met the foul creatures in my court." Kagome sighed standing.

Demios growled softly as he followed his master out her room and down the shadowy hallway to the throne room. Once she entered, the room got silent. Sitting on her throne with Homaru in her hands sucking his thumb, she had Demios sit beside her chair. She patted his head as she looked at the many creatures in her court whispering amongst each other. Her brow frowned.

"Is there something any of you would like to speak on?" Kagome asked with annoyance.

It got silent till a being stepped into the middle of her courtroom and stared at her.

"I don't think you should be having that youkai and human here in the Underworld." He shouted angrily.

"And why not?" she questioned with a hiss.

"They don't belong here and neither do you. Grimm was a fool to give you the throne." He yelled once more.

Kagome hummed and nodded. "Does anyone else feel like this is true?" she asked looking around.

A few others joined the creature in the middle of her courtroom.

"You dislike my heir as well. He is part youkai and reaper." Kagome stated standing, moving Homaru to rest on her shoulder. "But it is all fine. You won't have to worry about my mate of children much longer." She smiled. Summoning her scathe, she pointed it at the group. "I am Death. I am the ruler. And guess who's putrid soul I get to collect next?" a blast left the scathe leaving ash and white bubbles floating above the ash. She fingered them to herself and they floated above her. "Anyone else?"

No one moved.

She scoffed. "I thought not."
