T4L: Yeah sorry about that... Allot of stuffs been going on lately.
Terriermon: Like what?
T4L: Well I got a job, I'm back to school and I'm working on a book to be published, so yeah... I've got allot on my plate.
Terriermon: You mean you might actually become an actual Author?
T4L: Yep.
Terriermon: Cool. Will I be in any of your stories?
T4L: Nope not unless I get permission from Toei company... Unlikely...
Terriermon: Well do you have anything to tell the readers before we start the chapter.
T4L: Just one thing. If anyone was wondering what the new image cover for the story is supposed to be, it's what the new crest Takato created in the last chapter looks like. It's comprised of the Digital Hazard symbol, The symbol of chaos, and the ying and yang symbol in the very center.
Terriermon: Anything else?
T4L: Yeah. I'm doing something very different than usual for this chapter. I've been planning it for like what two years now so I think it's going to turn out really good. You'll see just what's different when you're reading, all I can say is this is going to be a very long and battle filled chapter. Prepare for the end of peace, the beginning of the true story we've been working towards since the first story. Prepare for the war for the Digital World.

Chapter 7: Clash of Good and Evil - The Ultimate War Begins
Davis: Last time on The chosen Tamer: 158 hazardous days & nights. The Nightmare Soldiers broke free from the Dark Ocean and began an invasion into both the Digital world and the Real world. Me and the rest of the DigiDestined took care of all the Nightmare Soldiers that had emerged into our world but it was only after that that we had learned that to prevent a full out invasion of Nightmare Soldiers into the real world Takato and Guilmon had engaged the Nightmare Solders army. All us DigiDestined rushed to the Digital world where we saw Gallantmon sacrifice his own life to prevent the Nightmare Soldiers from entering the real world. Me and Ken along with Imperialdramon quickly rescued Guilmon and took Takato's body to a campsite Gennai had set up for the first recruits of the resistance. Things don't look good for us and the Digimon as the Nightmare Soldiers recover from the abrupt attacks from both Takato and us and most likely are planning what they should do now.
Gennai walked into the medical tent carrying Takato's limp body in his arms and set it on a makeshift cot. Gennai then began fealing for a pulse around Takato's pressure points, but found none. Gennai then lifted Takato's left eye lid and sighed in relief it was as he had thought. Takato's eye was changing in color erratically. One second it was his usual color of an almond red, then it was red, then crimson, then it would change to a light blue, then back to it's usual color.
*****With the DigiDestined*****
"Do you think we should go and see what Gennai's up to?" Matt asked the others as he paced around in a line.
"Maybe..., but wouldn't he have told us to come with him if we were welcome to enter." Izzy stated.
"Yeah but we do have a right to see-" Matt was interrupted as Guilmon stood up. Obviously he had woken up unnoticed.
"Where's Takatomon?" Guilmon asked as he looked around for his partner.
The DigiDestined all gulped. None of them wanted to be the one to tell Guilmon his partner was dead.
Izzy being a quick thinker decided that they should go into the tent and let Guilmon see for himself. "He's in this tent with Gennai." Izzy said as he walked over to the tent and motioned for them all to follow him.
*****Back inside the tent*****
Gennai pulled out a vile with some kind of a liquid in it, with a needle attached to it just as the DigiDestined walked into the tent.
Gennai turned to them and motioned for them to come closer.
"Is he-... Is he... really dead?" Mimi asked for everyone.
Guilmon looked at Mimi in a combination of fright, shock, and disbelief.
"No." Gennai replied as he injected the contents of the vile into Takato's blood stream causing the already frightened and confused Guilmon to look even more nervous.
Izzy noticing Guilmon's nervousness decided to ask the question. "What is that you're injecting into him?" Izzy asked as he walked over to Gennai.
"It's a sort of stimulant for the mind." Gennai responded.
"For the mind?" Izzy asked.
"You see..." Gennai said as he pulled Takato's crest out from underneath his shirt so everyone could see it. "Takato is bound to the fate of the crest of Hazard because of his connection to the Hazard. So when he combined both the crest of Hazard and the crest of Harmony to create this new crest the two crest went through a drastic change and since his fate is bound to the crest of Hazard due to his connection with the Hazard he too is going through a drastic change. I believe his mind is in an internal struggle against itself. The Hazards influence is causing him to want to cause chaos but the crest of harmony's influence is causing him to want to create harmony within everything. And then there's the original mind set of Takato of the boy we all know, struggling to remain in control of all these new feelings. I'm hoping this stimulant will give Takato's original mind set the strength it needs to remain in control." Gennai explained.
"Oh I see. So you're saying whatever the crest of Hazard goes through Takato also experience's it." Izzy responded.
"Yes, that's why he's been so interested in learning about the Hazard, so he could have a better understanding of what he's dealing with and to hopefully fight off it's influence on him." Gennai replied.
"So... Is he going to have to be bound to the Hazard his entire life?" Matt asked.
"Yes." Gennai replied simply.
"Geez... That's ruff..." Davis commented.
"Yes it is..." Gennai responded. "We should leave Takato so he can rest." Gennai said as he began to walk towards the exit.
"Can Guilmon stay with Takatomon?" Guilmon asked.
Gennai turned to Guilmon and smiled. "Of course." With that Gennai along with the DigiDestined left the tent leaving Guilmon alone with a practically dead Takato.
*****Within Takato*****
Fire raged and burned everywhere on the one side of the mind and total harmony reigned on the other side. In the middle of the two in a small sphere Takato sat meditating. The fire was consuming him, it's power was so overwhelming. But the total bliss of harmony was intoxicating. Takato struggled to remember anything from before this, but all he could remember was this.
The fire and the harmony struggled against each other fighting for dominance with Takato trapped in the middle of their battle.
Within the fire Takato could sense millions of Digimon screaming as the raging fire destroyed everything. Within the peaceful scene of harmony Takato could sense complete balance and understanding between all life. But in the core... Where he was. Was nothing but anger, rage, understanding, and total bliss.
Minutes which felt like years passed as Takato struggled against all these feelings until.
"I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE!" Takato shouted as he stood up so quickly you could've missed it if you had blinked. "GET ME OUTTA HERE!" Takato shouted as he spread his arms out wide. The sphere he was in cracked and then disintegrating from the shear force of his power, exposing him to the flames and to the scene of harmony. "AAAAAHHHHH!" Takato screamed in absolute pain and agony from feeling every feeling imaginable suddenly enter him at the exact same time. Takato wanted to drop back to the ground but his legs which wanted to buckle and give out seemed to have forgotten how. "WWWHHAAATT'SS HAPPENING TO MEEEEE!" Takato screamed in agony as the feelings intensified.
"101110111010"
"WHAT!?" Takato screamed as he heard something.
"10110111010110001101"
"WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN!?"
"1011011011010" There was the sound like an old fashioned radio being tuned to a different station. "FINALLY MATSUADA TAKATO" A deep, menacing, and extremely powerful voice emanated from the core of the raging fire. "I HAVE WAITED ALMOST SEVENTEEN LONG YEARS FOR THIS MOMENT" The voice continued.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN!? WHO ARE YOU!?" Takato shouted.
Dark menacing laugher emanated from the flames. "I AM MATSUADA TAKATO, MATSUADA TAKATO" The voice stated.
"WHAT!?" Takato screamed in shock as he felt all the dark feelings growing stronger within him and around him. The being in the fire was getting closer.
"I HAVE WAITED SO LONG FOR THIS DAY| I HAVE BEEN IMPRISONED HERE FOR FAR TO LONG BECAUSE OF THOSE IDIOTS| AND NOW YOU AND I WILL FINALLY HAVE OUR/MY/YOUR REVENGE" The voice said in furry, the flames growing steadily bigger and more out of control.
Takato could feel his eyes dilating, he could feel himself plummeting into a dark abyss. He felt the feeling of total power and darkness wash over him, and he was instantly in love with the feeling, he needed more, more! He wanted more!
*****Outside of Takato's mind with the DigiDestined and Gennai*****
Gennai had just finished explaining everything to the DigiDestined and they were now on their way back to the medical tent when the sky suddenly turned a fearsome crimson and lightning flashed menacingly.
Gennai's eyes widened as he realized what was happening. "EVERYONE BACK TO THE MEDICAL TENT! QUICKLY!" He shouted as they all rushed back to the tent.
Guilmon was sitting on the ground seeming ready to attack in a moments notice eyes completely ferial, claws sunk into the ground. Behind him Takato's body laid where Gennai had left it, but it now had the Digital Hazard symbol on his forehead right above his eyes. The Symbol of the hazard also was on both sides of his hands and a glowing red light from Takato's shirt pretty much ment there was one on his chest and back.
"WHAT'S GOING ON GENNAI!?" The DigiDestined asked.
"The Hazard's won the battle for dominance! IT'S IN CONTROL NOW!" Gennai explained as extremely strong winds began howling all around them.
Takato's eyes opened suddenly and he was raised into a standing position without even moving a single muscle.
"WHOA!" Tai shouted as he got in front of the younger DigiDestined to shield them if a fight broke out suddenly.
"THAT'S NOT NOMRAL!" Matt commented.
Takato looked around at them not even moving his head while doing so. "AHH... GENNAI WHAT LUCK. IT'S ONLY FITTING THAT I DESTROY THE ONE WHO'S REPONSIBLE FOR LOOKING ME INSIDE THAT ACURSED CREST BEFORE ANYONE ELSE." The Hazard said in it's deep, menacing and powerful voice which sent shivers down all their spines.
"No..." Gennai muttered under his breath as he realized who was talking to him. "You're the Hazard itself."
"IN THE FLESH..., LITERALLY" The Hazard responded as he smirked.
"ALL OF YOU GET OUT OF HERE! QUICKLY!" Gennai shouted as he pushed all the DigiDestined out of the tent.
The DigiDestined tried to go back into the tent but the entrance was gone.
"LEAVING SO SOON" The Hazard said as he blocked the exit from Gennai.
"Do what you want with me, but leave the children out of this." Gennai stated earning him a powerful punch in the gut.
"YOU DARE TRY AND REASON WITH ME|FOOL| I TAKE ORDERS FROM NO ONE" The Hazard said as he lifted Gennai off the ground by his throat and began tightening his grip. "I AM THE ALMIGHTY GOD HAZARD| I DO NOT SUFFER ANYONE WHO ISN'T MY OTHER HALF" 'What am I doing...?' A voice spoke inside of Hazard. 'YOU| STAY OUT OF THIS' Hazard said within his mind. "NO!" Takato's voice emanated from Hazard causing Gennai's eyes to widen in surprise. "I... WON'T... LET YOU... USE ME FOR THIS!" Gennai fell to his knees on the ground as Hazard let him go. Gennai despite his better judgment looked up at Hazard. He seemed to be struggling to stay in control, it seemed as though Takato was fighting off his condition. "GET... OUT OF ME!" Takato's voice shouted as the Hazard symbols faded and disappeared from his body. Takato collapse to the ground and Guilmon who had grown a pair of fearsome wings and had grown in size, returned to normal. The entrance of the tent reappeared and the DigiDestined came charging back into the tent.
"GENNAI ARE YOU ALRIGHT!?" They asked as they saw Takato's body lying on the ground.
"Yes Takato was able to fight off the Hazard when he realized what was going on. But I'm afraid it took a lot out of him." Gennai explained to them as he went to go help Takato back up to his makeshift cot.
"I-...I'm alright..." Takato said as his eyes opened and excepted Gennai's help to get back to the bed. "I'm sorry if any of you got hurt." Takato said in apology as he lied back down on the bed.
"It's alright Takato. It wasn't your fault." Kari said as she walked over to the bed he was on and sat down next to him. "We all know you would never do anything to hurt any of us." She stated.
"Thanks you guys." Takato said with a smile on his face. He was relieved that they were all okay and that they didn't blame him for what Hazard might have done while in control.
"So how are you feeling Takato?" Gennai asked.
"I don't know..." Takato said as he realized something. "I feel different..."
'It's probably the absence of Chaos inside you which you had grown used to over the last year. And probably because Hazard spent up the last of the Chaos digimon's data from within you when he took over.' Xion suggested.
'Yeah... I think you're right...' Takato agreed, but then he realized something else. 'WAIT A MINUTE! WHERE WERE YOU WHEN ALL OF THIS WAS HAPPENING!?'
'I shut down so Hazard wouldn't be able to use me for his evil purposes.' Xion replied.
'Oh...' Takato responded. "So you guys wanna fill me in on what's been happening while I've been out."
"Well..." T.k Began not knowing how to explain their predicament.
"Well The Nightmare Soldiers must be getting over the shock of being engaged twice in one day, which were both unexpected fights too by the way so they were defiantly taken by surprise." Gennai explained. "So we believe that they will soon be on the move. We believe they're going to try and head for the next closest D-Terminal since the DigiDestined destroyed the one they were going to use."
"That reminds me." Takato said as he looked at them very seriously. "The Leader of the Nightmare Soldiers I fought said that the Seven great Demon Lords were his masters."
Gennai and Izzy looked at each other. They had been speculating that this might be the case.
"You guys don't seem surprised." Takato said sensing something was up.
"Gennai and I have been thinking that it might be them." Izzy explained.
"Izzy and I believe that the Demon Lords are hoping to return to the Digital world from the Dark Ocean which has been their prison since the first group of DigiDestined imprisoned them there." Gennai explained to them all.
"Not only that. We believe they are hoping to finally succeed in concurring the Digital world." Izzy explained.
"Well we can't let that-" Tai was cut off as a Leomon came rushing into the tent seeming very urgent.
"The Nightmare Soldiers aren't heading for the next closest D-Terminal as we had thought they would! They're headed straight in this direction!" The Leomon said urgently.
"How long till they get here?" Gennai asked in alarm.
"Little less than an hour at the pace their moving at! It appears that Takato and the DigiDestined's sudden engagements have really ticked them off." The Leomon suggested.
"It would appear that way." Gennai agreed.
"What should we do?" The Leomon asked.
"There isn't time to get all the digimon out of here and a safe enough distance away before they get here. That leaves us with only one option." Gennai stated. "Tell all the digimon to assemble and to be ready for a battle." Gennai instructed.
"Yes sir." The Leomon said as he rushed out of the tent.
"We had not expected this to happen. It appears that the Nightmare Soldiers hold huge grudges against people." Gennai said as he headed for the exit but then stopped and turned back to them all. "Everyone but you Takato have agreed to help us in this war, so I must ask. Can we count on you for help?"
"Yes. Of course I'll help you all as much as I can." Takato responded.
"Then I need all of you to come with me. It's time you chose your squad of digimon that you'll be leading." Gennai stated.
"Did he just say chose our squad...?" Takato asked T.k who seemed just as surprised by Gennai's statement as Takato was.
"I think he did..." T.k replied as he and Takato looked at each other dumbfounded before following the others out of the tent.
*****In the center of the Campsite*****
Takato and the DigiDestined had discussed what kind of strategy they should use to fight off the Nightmare Soldier and had decided that Takato would lead his group of digimon on the front lines while Tai and Matt's groups hold up his rear. Davis and Ken were forced by the others to stay close to the camp just in case the rest of them are over run. Sora and Joe's groups would be a ways of to the left of Takato's group, and Kari and Yolie's groups would be holding up their rear. Mimi and Izzy would be a ways off to the right of Takato's group, and T.k and Cody's groups would be holding up their rears.
Now all they had to do was chose the digimon they would need to successfully do their part in the plan.
Takato got first pick since he was taking the most risk being out on the front lines.
Takato looked over the digimon that had assembled in the center of the campsite and shook his head. Their was mostly rookies and champions with and ultimate every once and a while, but absolutely no megas. Takato knowing that he would need the stronger digimon and the ones that would most likely have the advantage over the Nightmare Soldiers decided to get all the digimon in a more easy to pick from formation.
"Okay, all the rookies go stand in the back because the job I've got to do is way to dangerous to bring you guys with me. All the champions go stand over their by Gennai. All the ultimates come over here to me." Takato instructed. The digimon did as instructed but the rookies looked angrily at Takato as they headed to the back.
"Now let me see..." Takato said as he walked through the crowd of ultimates. "You Andromon, MetalMamemon, Monzaemon, Piximon. You'll come with me." Takato said as he left the crowd of ultimates followed by the digimon he had just picked. Takato was satisfied with the digimon in his group but something made him look over to where the champions were and he instantly picked out two digimon. "You over there Thundermon, and you NiseDrimogemon come here, you'll also be in this group." Takato said shocking the two digimon and the DigiDestined.
"Takato why do you need a NiseDrimogemon?" Tai asked.
"NiseDrimogemon's are extremely good at digging. I'll have him digging trenches for my groups cover and also yours and Matt's." Takato explained.
"That's brilliant." Izzy exclaimed impressed. "We can have all the NiseDrimogemon's dig trenches for all the other digimon to use as cover." Izzy stated.
After Takato and his group assembled and got accustomed to everyone in the group they left to get started on the trenches.
"Well I guess we're next Matt." Tai said as he looked over the digimon and picked seven Mamemon, and Guardromon's. "Well You're turn Matt."
"Right, then we should go help Takato with the trench system." Matt responded as he looked over the digimon and picked out the same digimon as Tai.
The two were just about to leave when Leomon and Digitamamon walked up to them.
"I will go with you and help you fight off these Nightmare Soldiers." Leomon said.
"And I'm coming too. Those digimon turned my restaurant to rubble." Digitamamon stated.
"Alright then, let's go before Takato decides to start the party without us again." Tai said as they all headed off in the direction Takato and his group had headed off to.
"Well might as well pick out ours next Ken." Davis sayed as he looked at the remaining digimon and thought a bit about who he should choose. "Hmm..."
Minutes later Ken and the others had run out of patience. "All right Davis that's it we gotta get going." Ken said as he stepped forward. "I'll take the Tyrannomon's. Davis you'll bring some ShogunGekomon, and a few more Tyrannomon's." With that said the above mentioned digimon as well as a few NiseDrimogemon's came out from the crowd and joined Ken and Wormon, and Davis and Veemon as they headed to their position in between the soon to be war zone and the campsite.
Next came Mimi and Izzy. Izzy being the smart one of the group was elected to make the decision of the digimon and he was quick to pick a horde of Centarumon for himself and a huge group of Gekomon, and Otamamon for Mimi. Ogremon and a group of NiseDrimogemon also joined their group before they all headed off to their position.
Then came T.k and Cody. T.k choose a group of Angemon's probably planning to rely on their type advantage against the Nightmare Soldiers. Cody choose Vegiemon and RedVegiemon. Then they were off like the others before them.
Sora and Joe were next. Joe picked a few Unimon and then let Sora have her turn. Sora picked out a dozen Airdramon's. They left being followed of course by a few more NiseDrimogemon's.
Then it was only Kari and Yolie left. Kari choose a group of Angewomon's probably relying on their type advantage just like T.k had been. Yolie however didn't get any choice of digimon. In fact she didn't have any digimon left to even choose.
"WHAT!? I DON'T GET A SQUAD!" Yolie shouted in outrage as she turned to Gennai seeming ready to strangle him to death.
"Sorry that was all the digimon we were able to recruit so far." Gennai apologized.
"Great... Just my luck..." Yolie muttered as she followed Kari and her squad along with a few more NiseDrimogemon's to their position.
*****With Takato and his Squad*****
Forty minuets had passed sense Takato, Guilmon and their squad had left the others and started working on their trench system. It probably would have only been a small little hole if it hadn't been for the NiseDrimogemon's help. He had already dug out about a whole mile of a trench system which branched out and connected to Sora and Joe's trench system and also connected to Mimi and Izzy's as well.
Takato was laying on the ground outside of the trench with a pair of binoculars observing for any sign of the Nightmare Soldiers. Guilmon sat beside him seeming to be ready to digivolve at a moments notice. Andromon stood crouched to Takato's left his arms in the ground as he scanned for signs of the Nightmare Soldiers. Thundermon and Monzaemon were nailing wooden beams into the walls of the trenching system at the speed of light thanks to a Speed plugin card from Takato. Piximon and MetalMamemon stood ready to defend Takato, Guilmon and Andromon if any unexpected attacks came their way. The NiseDrimogemon was just putting the last touches on his trenches when both Takato and Andromon shouted.
"GET READY GUYS! HERE THEY COME!" Takato shouted.
"Warning magnitude of hostile digimon approaching." Andromon said as he pulled his arms out of the ground.
"Andromon go back into the trenches, and begin the attack when I give the signal." Takato instructed as he and Guilmon walked to meet a Nightmare Soldier at the head of the rest of the army. It was a BlackWarGreymon. "So I take it your their leader." Takato said as they locked eyes with each other.
"Not for to long." Was all the BlackWarGreymon said in response. He seemed to be pretty ticked off.
"Then you're merely a replacement for Cherubimon." Takato responded.
"Yes." BlackWarGreymon replied venomously.
Takato thought of how ironic it was that a Digimon with war in it's name would be the digimon to begin this probably horrific war. "You can still walk away from this." Takato said to the BlackWarGreymon who seemed to pulse with uncontrollable anger. "There is no need to have lives be lost for territory." Takato reasoned.
"That's right so why don't you just surrender to us." The BlackWarGreymon responded causing the Nightmare Soldiers to laugh in unison.
Takato looked sorrowful as he said his next words. "I can not do that." And then with a sudden change in Takato's mood he turned on the spot merging with Guilmon without even activating the bio-merge process. "YOU SHALL ALL FALL TO HELL FOR JUSTICE!" Gallantmon said in the duel voices of Takato and Guilmon.
Within seconds Gallantmon and BlackWarGreymon were at each others throats. The war for the digital world had begun.
Andromon and the others who had ranged attacks rained hell fire out of the trenches taking the first five ranks of the enemy forces by complete surprise.
Gallantmon just managed to jump out of the way as BlackWarGreymon threw a horizontal slash where he had just been seconds before.
"Lightning Joust!" Gallantmon shouted as he aimed at BlackWarGreymon.
"Terra Destroyer!" BlackWarGreymon shouted as he threw a giant greenish energy ball at Gallantmon.
The attacks collided exploding on contact and deleting a few unfortunate Nightmare Soldiers who had been to close to the blast. Their data didn't last long though as Gallantmon absorbed it to keep himself fresh for the long battle ahead.
"Crimson Lightning" A Myotismon shouted sending a red streak of lightning at Gallantmon who instead of being harmed by it, used it to super charged his lance.
"Lightning Strike!" Gallantmon shouted instinctively as his lance momentarily became blazing red lightning as he stuck BlackWarGreymon who had had just enough time to take out his shield to block the attack. Good thing for him to since the attack was so strong it sent him flying back about twenty feet.
"Black Tornado!" BlackWarGreymon shouted as he shot back at Gallantmon with a black vortex.
'CRAP!' Takato thought as he saw BlackWarGreymon coming towards him. Gallantmon quickly threw his shield in front of himself and dug is feet into the ground knowing he wouldn't be able to dodge this attack.
The black vortex connected with Gallantmon and sent him flying back, but Gallantmon had his own surprise for BlackWarGreymon.
"SHIELD OF THE JUST!" Gallantmon shouted as a red beam shot out of his shield at the same moment the black vortex connected with him.
There was no doubt in Gallantmon's mind as he flew back from BlackWarGreymon's attack. BlackWarGreymon was dead. He might have been able to take a Shield of the Just attack from a distance, but at point blank range it had been deadly on the unsuspecting BlackWarGreymon.
Gallantmon landed in the trench behind Andromon and the others who were still raining hell fire on the Nightmare Soldiers.
Gallantmon knew that they were about to be in for a fight now that he had deleted their leader for the second time within a few hours. 'Xion!'
'Yes Takato?' Xion responded.
'Speed plugin H, Hyper chip, Vaccine booster activate!'
'Right away Takato.' Xion responded.
Gallantmon felt himself grow in power as Xion activated the digital modify card data. Gallantmon could tell that the cards also worked on the rest of his squad as their attacks grew faster and more powerful.
With his strength returned Gallantmon jumped out of the trench system and charged the Nightmare soldier.
"Lightning Joust!" Gallantmon shouted as he deleted a couple DarkTyrannomon's.
"Shadow Scythe!"
Gallantmon raised his shield and blocked the attack from a Phantomon which was blown to smithereens by his squads onslaught.
"Crimson Claw!"
The attack hit but didn't event faze Gallantmon having only been an attack from a champion.
Gallantmon turned and made a vertical slash going up, deleting the Devidramon that had just attacked him as it tried to fly away.
"Icy Cudgel!" A Hyogamon shouted as it hit Gallantmon with it's ice club.
"Careful with that thing, you might scratch my armor." Gallantmon said taunting the Hyogamon.
"Why I ought a!" The Hyogamon shouted as he ran towards Gallantmon but stopped as he felt Gallantmon's lance pierce through his chest. "AHHH!" He screamed as he burst into data and was loaded by Gallantmon.
Gallantmon suddenly felt the ground below him disappear and almost fell into the trench NiseDrimogemon had just dug. He smirked behind his helmet. They were pushing them back.
"Thundermon come with me! We'll push the enemy back." Gallantmon called into the trenches. Not even a few seconds later Thundermon was by his side, seeming ready for battle. "Andromon, Monzaemon you cover our left flank! Piximon, MetalMamemon you cover our right flank!" Gallantmon called back to them.
"Right!" They heard them call back.
"NiseDrimogemon! You do what you do best." Gallantmon instructed. "I'll cover you.
"Right." NiseDrimogemon responded.
*****With Tai and Matt*****
"Well looks like Takato and his squad's started the party without us." Tai commented as he saw explosions out a ways in the distance.
"Yeah, we should probably get moving so we can cover him." Matt suggested.
"Right, let's go. Come on guys." Tai said as he led the group into the trench system Takato's group had dug.
They had all walked a good ways in before Matt who had looked up into the sky for some reason sounded the alarm. "LOOK OUT! FLIERS!" Matt shouted as he tackled Tai out of the way of an attack.
"Thanks Matt." Tai said appreciatively as he and Matt got back on their feet.
"No problem, now what do you say about teaching these guys some manners." Matt responded as he took out his digivice.
"Yeah, we'll show these guys we can't be pushed around." Tai replied as he raised his digivice into the air Matt copying his motion as he too raised his digivice into the air.
"Alright it's fighting time!" Agumon said as he prepared to digivolve. "Agumon warp digivolve to...!"
"Gabumon warp digivolve to...!"
"WarGreymon!"
"MetalGarurumon!"
Just as WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon finished digivolving the swarm of fliers came back for their second bombardment of attacks.
"Shadow Scythe!" A Phantomon shouted as he made a horizontal slash at WarGreymon.
WarGreymon simply took out his brave shield and blocked the attack, leaving a dumbfounded Phantomon open to attack.
"Metal Wolf Claw!" MetalGarurumon shouted as he shot freezing cold air at Phantomon, causing him to freeze in mid air and fall and smash as he hit the ground.
"Nail Bone!" A SkullSatamon shouted as it shot a beam of light out of the jewel on it's staff. The attack hit a Guardromon deleting him on contact.
"WHOA!" Tai shouted in astonishing horror as he saw this happen. "That's one charged up SkullSatamon!"
"MetalGarurumon take him out quickly!" Matt called over to MetalGarurumon who was now on top of a ledge shooting down as many Nightmare Soldiers as he could while WarGreymon provided him ground support and shielded him from attacks.
MetalGarurumon responded to Matt by immediately blasting the SkullSatamon out of the sky leaving WarGreymon to finish the job.
"Terra Force!" WarGreymon shouted as he sent a huge sphere of orange red energy at the SkullSatamon, who deleted on contact.
"Guys we've got a horde of SkullMammothmon's coming in from our front!" Tai shouted to their squad and to WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon.
They all turned to see what Tai was talking about and they all seemed to go a bit pail upon seeing a huge horde of about forty SkullMammothmon's coming their way.
"What do you think we should do Tai?" Matt asked.
"I'll tell you what we should do!" A Guardromon shouted in fear as he continued to stare at the incoming SkullMammothmon's.
"We can't retreat, that would leave Takato's group completely open to attack." Tai said to himself as he thought of a plan.
"So what do you think? Omnimon?" Matt asked having heard Tai talking to himself.
"Yeah, seems like the only plan we got." Tai replied.
"Alright than let's show these guys what we're made of." Matt responded as he raised his digivice into the air being followed by Tai.
"WarGreymon!"
"MetalGarurumon!"
"DNA DIGIVOLVE TO...! OMNIMON!"
"Now the real battle begins." Tai said as he watched Omnimon intercept the SkullMammothmon's in their tracks.
"Guardian Barrage!" A few Guardromon shouted from behind Tai and Matt, causing them to turn around quickly to see what was going on.
"Well where the heck did all these guys come from!?" Tai shouted in shock as he saw about a hundred different Nightmare Soldiers rushing into their trench from the left side.
"Their starting to come in harder and quicker." Matt commented to Tai. "I don't know how much longer we can keep this up..." Matt stated as he saw a few Guardromons taking a real beating from some Devidramons.
"We just need to hold on a little bit longer. Gennai or Azulongmon will come up with some way to get us all out of this." Tai replied as he watched the battles before him feeling helpless as he saw Digitamamon and Leomon fighting a group of Mammothmons.
*****With Sora and Joe*****
Sora and Joe had so far managed to push back the Nightmare Soldiers at a steady pace, with Guarudamon and Zudomon taking out the Nightmare Soldiers in front of them and their squads holding up their flanks.
"This is a piece of cake." Sora commented to Joe as Guarudamon and Zudomon defeated yet another wave of Nightmare Soldiers.
"I hate to break it to you but this is only so easy because the Nightmare Soldiers are concentrating their attack on the center." Joe pointed out causing Sora to frown.
"Well that puts a damper on my mood..." Sora replied to Joe. "I hope Takato and his group will be able to hold out..."
*****Back with Takato*****
"THEIR COMING IN HEAVIER!" Thundermon called to Gallantmon. "ORDER THE RETREAT!"
"I CAN'T IF WE RETREAT WE LEAVE EVERYONE ELSE OPEN TO ATTACK!" Gallantmon called back.
"ENERGY CANNON!"
"DOWN!" Gallantmon shouted as he grabbed Thundermon and dove to cover just in time as a huge explosion came from where they had just been fighting.
The two looked at each other both thinking the same thing. 'That was almost us...'
"EVERYONE OKAY?!" Gallantmon called to the others.
"I THINK WE LOST METALMAMEMON!" Piximon called back.
'Damn it... That's gonna make this a lot tougher...' Takato muttered to himself inside his data sphere. "Monzaemon go and assist Piximon on the right flank, Thundermon take Monzaemon's place assisting Andromon on the left flank." Gallantmon instructed.
Monzaemon doing as Gallantmon had instructed ran over to help Piximon on the right flank. Thundermon although looking a bit depressed listened to Gallantmon's orders and replaced Monzaemon on the left flank.
Gallantmon then got up from where he had sheltered himself and Thundermon from the blast and ran back into the battle attacks blazing.
"Lightning Joust!" Gallantmon shouted as he deleted a few Mammothmons and some Soulmons.
"Banana Slip!" A MetalEtemon shouted as it threw a banana peel on the ground in front of Gallantmon who hopped over it while charging his shield.
"Shield of the Just!" Gallantmon shouted as a beam of red energy shot out of his shield and deleted MetalEtemon whose data was quickly absorbed by Gallantmon.
"Crimson Lightning!" A Myotismon shouted as it sent a crimson streak of lightning at Gallantmon who absorbed it with his lance.
"LIGHTNING STRIKE!" Gallantmon shouted as he slashed at the Myotismon with a lance of crimson lightning deleting him on contact.
"BLIZARD WOLF CLAW!"
Gallantmon only had time to look up to see the digimon who had attacked him before he was knocked back by the attack.
Gallantmon got to his feet carefully calculating the digimon's movements. It was a BlackMetalGarurumon. He was no fool, he knew powerful digimon when he saw them, and this one was very strong.
"Are you the leader of the Nightmare Soldiers?" Gallantmon asked it.
The BlackMetalGarurumon just laughed at him and then leaped over to him and sank it's fangs into his right leg.
"AAGGHHHH!" Gallantmon screamed in pain as he tried to shake the digimon off of him. "Get off of me!" Gallantmon shouted as he sank his lance into the digimon's back. "Lightning Joust!"
With that the BlackMetalGarurumon was no more. Gallantmon looked up looking for another opponent, but found that the others had finished up that wave of Nightmare Soldiers.
Gallantmon headed over to his squad who were resting from their last fight.
"We can't keep this up forever Gallantmon..." An exhausted Monzaemon stated.
"There must be thousands of them..." Thundermon agreed.
"I know. But I'm sure Gennai or Azulongmon will figure a way out of this for us." Gallantmon replied.
"Hey! SShh! Quite..." Piximon hissed.
"What's that noise...?" Monzaemon asked as he heard the sound of earth trembling above them. Gallantmon's eyes widened in fear and realization. He quickly ran to the front wall of the trench and poked his head out. His eyes widened as he saw a whole army of Nightmare Soldiers coming at them.
"OH CRAP..." Was all Gallantmon could say.
"Looks like this is the end of your resistance Gallantmon." One of the many Nightmare Soldiers said from the army of Nightmare Soldiers who laughed at the statement.
Thundermon who was the closest to Gallantmon moved just close enough to ask in a whisper.
"Do you think we'll be able to fight them all...?" Thundermon asked Gallantmon.
"Well if one more shows up it might be tough." Gallantmon replied.
*****With Kari and Yolie*****
"It looks like the Nightmare Soldiers are starting to give up." Kari commented as they finished up fighting the last wave of Nightmare Soldiers.
"I don't think so Kari." Yolie stated as she peeked out from the trench.
"What do you mean?" Kari asked.
"It looks like their all head to where Takato and his group are at!" Yolie said urgently as she realized what the Nightmare Soldiers were going to do.
*****With Mimi and Izzy*****
"Mimi look out!" Izzy shouted as he pulled Mimi out of the way of a Nightmare Soldiers attack.
"Thanks Izzy."
"We've gotta get out of here, we can't hold them off any longer."
"Right." Mimi agreed.
"EVERYONE RETREAT! BACK TO THE CAMP!" Izzy shouted over the commotion of the battle to their squads.
Upon hearing Izzy's order the squad gratefully turned from battle and joined Izzy and Mimi as they all began their retreat to the camp.
Eventually Izzy and Mimi along with what remained of their squads ran into T.k and Cody. Literally. They actually ran into them. T.k and Cody seemed to be almost ready to colapse from lack of energy, and the same went for their partners and squads.
"Cody, T.K. We've gotta get back to camp we can't hold off the Nightmare Soldiers any longer.
"Right if Angemon and Armadilomon have to fight one more digimon I think they might turn back into digi-eggs.
T.k, Cody, Izzy, Mimi, their digimon and their squads quickly turn to head back to the camp but are quickly cut off from their path as the Nightmare Soldiers catch up to them.
"Easiest catch yet boys." A Snimon commented as the Bakemon and Soulmons tied them all up.
"What are you going to do with us!" T.k demanded.
Snimon pretty much answered that question when T.k felt Snimon's arm blade pressing against the bottom of his neck.
"Any last words..." The Snimon hissed.
"Yeah..." T.k said bravely as he felt Snimon's blade draw some blood. "Digimon like you... Won't ever win..."
Snimon enraged made the motion to cut off T.k's head but suddenly stopped as he seemed to hear something.
"Alright you mon's forget about these weaklings, we're to join the main forces." Snimon ordered as he and his group of Nightmare Soldiers rushed off to somewhere.
"That doesn't sound to good..." Izzy stated to the others.
"Yeah. The others are going to be in real big trouble if we don't get the order out to retreat and join up for a last stand at camp." T.k agreed.
"Then let's get going." Palmon said as she broke free from the ropes that were holding her and set everyone free.
They all watched as the group of Nightmare Soldiers who had just almost executed them joined up with an even bigger group which was heading off somewhere.
"Looks like their backing off." Mimi commented as they watched the Nightmare Soldiers leave.
"I don't think so Mimi... Something about this just doesn't feel right... They had us right where they wanted us and then they leave without killing us. Their up to something, and I don't like it. We really need to return to camp and think of a new plan." Izzy explained.
"Right." Mimi agreed.
*****With Takato's group*****
"LIGHTNING JOUST!"
"PIXI BOMB!"
"THUNDERBALL!"
"LIGHTNING BLADE!"
"HEARTS ATTACK!"
"NISE BONE!"
Gallantmon and his squad shouted as they attacked the hundreds of Nightmare Soldiers who were growing in number as the Nightmare Soldiers from the other sides of the battle joined them.
"DIMENSION SCI-" A GranKawagamon shouted but was cut off suddenly when out of nowhere a ghostly image of the creature Takato had seen the other day appeared right in front of them separating them from the Nightmare Soldiers.
"You have fought valiantly Matsuada and I have decided to reward you for your efforts." The creature said in a dark powerful evil voice. Causing many of the Nightmare Soldiers to flinch, shiver, and cower behind others.
"Oh really...?" Gallantmon asked skeptically. "And what just is this reward?"
"I'm glad you asked, because your in for a real treat. Let me insure you... it's to die for..." With that the creature let out a terrible laugh that caused even the strongest of mega Nightmare Soldiers to shiver. "You shall be the first to witness the emergence of the first new Nightmare Soldier." The creature stated as a rift of dark energy opened up behind the Nightmare Soldiers. "May I introduce you to Decker Greymon." and with that the creature disappeared and the sounds of cannons being fired filled all their ears.
Gallantmon and his squad's eyes widened as they saw all the Nightmare Soldiers in front of them burst into data. And what looked like a decked out combat machine moving towards them from the debree.
Gallantmon realizing they had just entered a hopeless battle quickly decided a course of action.
"EVERYBODY! RETREAT!" Gallantmon shouted as he and his squad turned and ran back into the trenches. "RETREAT!" Gallantmon shouted hoping everyone could here the order. "RETREAT FOR YOUR LIVES!"
A few minutes of running later they ran into Tai and Matt's group.
"Takato what's up?" Tai asked as he saw Gallantmon and his squad rushing into their camp.
"NO TIME! GO! RUN!" Gallantmon shouted as he rushed towards them.
"What why? What's going on?" Matt asked.
"CYBER BLADER!" Decker Greymon shouted from not to far from them.
"OH SHIT! DOWN!" Gallantmon shouted as he pushed Matt and Tai to the ground and covered them like he had once done for Kenta. Balls of plasma rained down from the sky destroying anything it touched. Tai and Matt's eyes widened in shock as they saw this.
"AAAAGGGGHHHH!" Gallantmon screamed in agony as he felt a ball of plasma slowly eating away at him.
"Hearts Attack!" Monzaemon called as a heart bubble absorbed Gallantmon inside of it and healed him.
"Thanks Monzaemon." Gallantmon said in appreciation.
Then suddenly the sound of a tank moving fills all of their ears causing their eyes to widen. They all turn to where Gallantmon and his squad had come running from and see Decker Greymon coming around the corner into Tai and Matt's camp.
Decker Greymon pointed his cannons at them all and began to charge his attack up when suddenly. "Eneretic Bomb!" A voice shouted from above them as a green energy ball flies towards Decker Greymon and interrupts his attack.
Gallantmon and the others look up to where the voice had come from in shock.
"MetalMamemon!" Gallantmon said in relief.
"Yep. I managed to get out of the trench but I got turned around and couldn't find you guys until I saw that light show over there." MetalMamemon said probably referring to Decker Greymon's arrival in the battle.
The group quickly realizing that Decker Greymon was still there and recovering from the surprise attack bolted back to the camp where they find the others waiting for them.
"What happened?" Izzy asked Takato, Tai, and Matt as they came out of the trench.
"The Demon Lords have a new toy." They replied as they headed towards Gennai's tent.
"He's not here guys." Izzy called to them.
"What why?" Takato asked.
"I don't know he must've had something to do." Izzy explained.
"Great. Just great. What are we supposed to do now?" Tai said in irritation.
"I hate to be the bearer of bad news guys but that thing is still coming." Takato reminded them as he heard Decker Greymon coming.
"Crap! EVERYONE PREPARE FOR BATTLE!" Tai instructed as Decker Greymon emerged from the trench system but it suddenly stopped as the image of the creature Takato had seen appeared in front of them and to their astonishment.
"I have decided to allow you all to rest for the night but at 10 A.M. Tomorrow battle will begin again." The creature said and then disappeared.
Decker Greymon turned around and headed back into the trench and disappeared from view. The DigiDestined and Takato along with their Digimon and squads looked at each other sharing the same thought.
"What are we going to do?" Matt asked.
*****Later that night*****
"Hey Tai, Matt!" Takato called as he came up to them from the camp. The two had decided to stay and keep watch just in case this was all a trick by the demon lords.
"What's up Takato?" Tai asked as they both look at him.
"Gennai's back, come on. Wake up Agumon and Gabumon and meet us in Gennai's tent, we need to discuss our next course of action, and trade new information." Takato replied.
"Alright we'll be there in a few minutes." Tai responded as he shook Agumon awake.
*****Minutes later in Gennai's tent*****
Tai and Matt along with Agumon and Gabumon enter Gennai's tent to find all the DigiDestined, Takato, Guilmon, their squads, and Gennai in hot discussion.
They learn that Gennai had been with Azulongmon talking about the Nightmare Soldiers movements.
"The Nightmare Soldiers seemed to have been planning on taking over the real world first to have more territory under their control so they could begin populating the earth with their armies. But Takato and Guilmon's actions this morning stopped those plans. Now they seem to be trying to take control of the digital world first. And not just this quadrant. The other sovereigns have reported groups of Nightmare Soldiers in their quadrants as well." Gennai explained.
"Then it's a full out invasion." Izzy stated.
"They really intend to start an all out war..." Takato said seeming resigned to whatever came his way. It was then when Gennai realized just where Takato had been the night before.
'He's been to the lab, he's starting to put it together.'
Then Takato tells them all about Decker Greymon.
"I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it destroy all those Nightmare Soldiers so fast." Takato stated after finishing his explanation.
"That thing must be at least as strong as a demi sovereign." Piximon threw in.
"Well that's just great... Now how do we kill it?" Tai asked.
Gennai takes on a grave tone as they all discuss what they could do about Decker Greymon.
In the end they all ended up getting head aches and decided to call an end to the meeting and get some sleep before tomorrow's battle.
Takato: Well things are seeming to go from bad to worse as the war begins. How will me and the others manage to defeat Decker Greymon, a digimon powerful enough to destroy a whole army of Nightmare Soldiers all by itself?
