Chapter 10: Back to the Bottom
Hey guys! So my beta was taking too long editing my chapters and I didn't want to put a lot of pressure on her so I edited them myself. So they might not be as good as the last few but shouldn't b horrible. I'll have some more chapters up soon. And don't forget I still need ideas for band names!
It's been two days since Naruto left and we needed to get to work. You can't exactly have a band without a lead guitarist so Ciel will be filling that role while Naruto's away.
Tonight was our first gig without Naruto and we were kind of nervous. We were good but it feels wrong playing without Naruto, but we sucked it up and got on stage. We had to do this, for ourselves and for Naruto. I was at the front of the stage since I would be singing tonight.
I think we have an emergency (x2)
If you thought I'd leave then you were wrong
Cause I won't stop holding on
So are you listening?
So are you watching me?
If you thought I'd leave then you were wrong
Cause I won't stop holding on
This is an emergency
So are you listening?
And I can't pretend that I don't see this
It's really not your fault
And no-one cares to talk about it
Talk about it
Cause I've seen love die way too many times
When it deserved to be alive
And I've seen you cry way too many times
When you deserved to be alive
Alive
So you give up every chance you get
Just to feel new again
I think we have an emergency (x2)
And you do your best to show me love,
but you don't know what love is
So are you listening?
So are you watching me?
Well I can't pretend that I don't see this
It's really not your fault
And no-one cares to talk about it
Talk about it
Cause I've seen love die way to many times
When it deserved to be alive
And I've seen you cry way too many times
When you deserve to be alive
Alive
These scars they will not
Fade away
…
No-one cares to talk about it
Talk about it
Cause I've seen love die way too many times
When it deserved to be alive
I've seen you cry way too many times
When you deserved to be alive, alive.
We wrote this during the time Naruto was gone and we felt it was fitting for the situation. That's what our songs were about, life. They weren't fake. They were real, and they meant something. Each of our songs held a message. And we hope the people who listen close enough will be able to hear it. That's one of the great things about being in a band.
After the gig we got some food and went back to the basement. Tomorrow was going to be our first time visiting Naruto since he left. I hope he's doing better. I really want to see him smile again, and not the drug enduced smiles we saw during his addiction.
I was so excited when I woke up the next day. Today we are going to see Naruto. I now Ciel and Lana are excited too. Though to anyone else they seem cool and collected, I can tell they were just as happy as me. For the short amount of time we've been together, I've been able to pick up on their feelings. We've all grown on each other and just being together is fun and relaxing. It's nice having people you are comfortable with being around.
It makes you feel less lonely.
When we got to the rehab center I could barely contain myself, I was bouncing on the spot. We sat at a round table, surrounded by other identical tables, waiting for them to bring Naruto out. When I saw that mess of blonde hair come out I couldn't help but smile. Though being with Ciel and Lana is fun, Naruto and I kind of have similar personalities so it's easy for us to talk.
Naruto looked better than when we brought him here. His natural skin color has returned and the scratches on his face were gone. There were a few scratches left on his arms, but eventually they would fade. When he sat down he smiled at us. Seeing him smile again made me happy.
"Hey." He said.
"How are you doing?" Lana asked.
"Good." He replied. "I'm getting better."
We sat and talked. It was nice to just be able to talk and joke with each other, just like we used to. Before we left Naruto asked if next time we could bring him his notebook and guitar. We said we would then stood up to leave.
"Thanks so much you guys." He said sincerely.
Ciel replied "No problem, just get better. We're looking forward to having you back." This made Naruto smile again.
"Yeah and when you do you gotta work your butt off memorizing all the new songs we wrote." I joked. Everyone let out a small laugh then we did a group hug. We stood there for a minute just hugging, then finally let go and left. We never did say goodbye, because we knew we'd see each other again.
When Naruto left we realized there were other things that needed to be addressed. While Alois and Lana were writing lyrics I used the old laptop the landlord gave us to search for a car. We could drive to Sapporo from here. According to the internet one of the most popular music studios was in Sapporo and some music producers lived there. This would be a good opportunity for us to get noticed.
It would be a long drive and costly once we got there, but we had to take our chances, it would be better than being stuck here the rest of our lives. After I found a cheap car with good gas mileage I did the calculations and was able to estimate how much money we would need to make it to Sapporo and get a decent apartment. It would take a while to come up with all the money but we would do it.
The next time we went to visit Naruto we brought his notebook and guitar like he asked. We had to give them to one of the workers to hold on to until he was allowed to be able to use them. We would wait for Naruto to come back; we would work our butts off to get out of this city, then we would make it big as a great band. That was our plan.
