In this Universe, Zelena was never Marian. Though what happened in Heart of Gold puts a crimp in the Land With No Magic angle.
Sorry it's been awhile for this.
A/N 4.19: Tonight was the last straw. Emma went dark and to Cru with her.
I promised that no character would either ever die in my stories. I liked them, even the evil ones. So no one dies. And please no complaints about OOC and canon. I'm done with that. And though the characters belong to Disney/ABC, these are my stories.
There may come a time when I return to the TV show but they would really have to try...I feel they never cared anyway.
So yes, Cruella is not dead, nor is anyone else. Please forgive the writing, not my best. Maybe I shouldn't write when pissed.
Chapter 10 Revengers Assemble
Granny's Inn
7am
The diner was never this full this early. The aromas of frying eggs, bacon, sausage, and potatoes, toast, pancakes, oatmeal, and coffee filled the room. Granny, Ruby, Ingrid and Elsa with 4 people moving in a blur or in the kitchen. It was like they were cooking to feed an army.
And if truth be known, literally, they were.
It seems like the entire population of Storybrooke had shown up. It wasn't for the food, which was free. it was because of Polly. The entire town had fall in love with Polly Nix, taken her as one of the family. They all now knew who kidnapped the young woman, just days away from becoming Minister at Storybrooke Chapel.
They also knew of Polly's dad, a weaselly excuse for a human being named Rev. Tex. It was the Reverend's acute homophobia that brought Tex, his daughter, and his righteous flock to Storybrooke. The town wanted to give the phobes a good prank to get even, but things turned serious when Polly almost drowned. After being saved by Ruby (actually her wolf) Polly stayed in the small town. ,
And in the year since she had fallen in love with not one woman, but two: the werewolf Ruby and the witch Zelena. And as much as Polly had an effect on the women, Ruby and Selena add effect on her as well as the entire town. I became quite clear that for Polly, Storybrooke happy come the young lady's happy ending.
For instance, Polly had a hand in the marriage of Maleficent and her girlfriend Holly. Not to mention finding Mallie's long-lost daughter (and Sheriff Emma Swan's BFF from her teens), Lily and brought her back to Storybrooke, which, in turn, ended a bitter feud between Mallie and Emma's parents. Polly does have that effect on people.
On the other hand, the misadventure in Maine caused Tex Nix to become more of a laughing stock than he already was. He wanted his daughter back. And he was ready to do whatever it took to make that happen.
And so frantic phone calls were made in the hours before sunrise. Hook and the Locksleys were called first by Emma and Regina, respectively. Snow called the dwarves, Charming contacted Mallie and Holly. Someone called Archie, who called Big Tiny in return. Tink had called people nonstop. The entire town seemed to get the message. Except, maybe, the Golds. Calls to Rumple and Belle went unreturned.
When Regina, Emma, and Zelena walked into the inn, there was much hugging and concern about Zelena. That concern surprised the witch, considering all the damage that she had done, but as her sister told her that they also now know the good that's in her heart.
"But sis, I'm still wicked..."
Regina replied, "...and I'm still 'evil." That doesn't mean you can't use that for 'good.'
"And besides...," a different voice chirped, "I come from Bah-ston, and there, wicked is a good thing!" The sisters turned around and there was the fresh-scrubbed, cheery face of Boston emigre Holly Morris, being hugged the Queen Of Darkness formerly known as Maleficent, now simply Mallie Crow, together for a couple of years, but both very close friends of the Swan and her Queen. And with them were Holly's niece, Maddie, as well as Mallie's daughter Lily, (not to mention, she was Ingrid's niece and Emma's BFF. Emma once remarked that if your family tree forked, you're a redneck, if it turned into freeway cloverleaf, it was Storybrooke... ) Holly, Lily, and Maddie were all hugs and support. Mallie was, as always, to the point: "OK Reggie, what's the plan...?"
The plan was revealed shortly after. Henry was at home asleep after spending pretty much all night at the computer with Nova, who was outside of Henry, the most computer savvy person in town. They had narrowed down the number of Blue Moon Hotels down to one near East Stoneham. 90 minutes on the 302, but only seconds via portal. Blue and Tink had spent the night setting up the portal just at the town line. Blue explained the driving through the portal would put any vehicle crossing it right at the intersection leading to the hotel.
Emma announced there would be two teams going. Team one would be Ursula, Cru, Robin, Tiny, Blue, and Elsa. Team two would be Emma, Regina, Hook, Tink, and Ingrid. Mal insisted on having a hand, and Holly said that if Mal went, she went. So Emma changed things up" Mal and Holly would be team three, along with Ingrid and Elsa.
"What about me...?
Pleading was never Zelena's style. But this was Polly. For the first time in, as Elsa would say, forever, the witch felt love. First her sister then her mother. Then there was Snow and David, then Emma and Henry. But now, Zelena had a chance at the happy ending her sister has. She knew that happy ending would be with Polly. She also felt it could also be with the tall brunette with the red streaks in her hair now clutching her hand.
"We want in." As much as Zelena was near pleading, Ruby was as adamant as she even had been. The Mayor and the Sheriff were not that willing. that same chance at a "happy ending," or rather a happy beginning. She knew she had that with Polly. And now she believes she has it with the brunette with the red streaks in her hair now squeezing her hand.
"We need it be in, Ems." Wherein Zelena was almost pleading, Ruby was even more adamant than she usually was. They both wanted to be part of the operation, for the most obvious reason, for when Emma and Regina tried to explain how dangerous this rescue could get, Zelena looked at her sister and asked point blank: "Reggie, what if it were Robin...or Emma...?"
Damn she had to pull out THAT card.
Hell, it worked.
Near the town line
The plans had now been set. They had a basic idea, but they would know more once they got to East Stoneham. Cars had lined up just the line ready to move out.
One of the mantras that had been repeated over and over in Storybrooke was that magic had its price. And the price of the quite-more-recent-than-1982 vehicles that somehow wound up in a certain small town in Maine would probably be in the mid-six-figures, once cratin dealerships found out that overnight their inventories were short one or two models.
For, instance, Regina had to talk Cru out of going in with her beloved Panther. That was going nowhere until Henry, of all people, pointed out something called a Dodge Challenger Hellcat. With 707 horsepower. Cru, who some in the town nicknamed Danica Patrick 2nd because of her unwillingness to follow speed limits, was sold.
Same for Mal and Holly. Hollz was blue collar all the way, in her little Scion, but Mal was...well...Maleficent. And when Regina poofed in their rescue ride, Holly happily deferred. Besides, Mal said to Holly with an evil sneer, a black turbo Jaguar XE coupe is, as the TV ads inferred, the car for "villains." Holly just chuckled and sweetly kissed her "villain."
Zelena and Red rode in her Camaro, and Emma and Regina chose the bug. They were all lined up, sporting little plastic cards that worked like the scroll Ingrid created as keys in an out of Storybrooke. The Ice Queen, Elsa, and Lily took a Ford Edge, along with Tiny.
It was agreed that Charming and Snow would stay in town; Snow to take care if Little Neal and David to manage the Sheriff's duties with Tink.
The crew was about to set out when a black 1982 Coupe de Ville arrived on the scene. Two very familiar people climbed out...an older man and a younger woman. They both approached the redhead.
And in Zelena's head was the thought...I'm never going to get used to that imp walking without a cane...
"I just came," said Gold, holding the hand of his bride, Belle, "to wish you good luck."
Zelena was surprised at this, knowing their history. But Gold continued: "The truth is, that I...(he turns to his wife and back at Zelena)...we..have grown fond of Miss Nix. We'd like to see her back safe. And frankly, I think you are the best way for that to happen."
Zelena was uncharacteristically seemed humble at this. And so was Gold when he added, "And in Miss Nix's spirit, I want to...forgive. Nothing we have done could bring Baefire back. The best we can do is start over." And then, Gold extended his hand. Zelena took it, and then tentatively hugged him. The witch noticed the beaming face of Belle French-Gold and whispered to her husband, "How long were you sleeping on the couch...?"
"Four straight nights...," replied the imp.
"Actually," said the Beauty, correcting her Beast, "we're not counting Saturday...we didn't get much sleep then!"
The chuckle that offered both the witch and the imp was a much needed moment of levity. And maybe an even more needed start to a different relationship between the two "villains." But pursuing that took a back seat to bringing the preacher's daughter back home to Storybrooke.
There was a last minute call from Cora who was watching the young ones, save for Henry who was with Nova at the computer, wishing her daughters well with a be careful from the aforementioned son. Not to mention last minute instructions...and hugs...by Emma to Deputy Nolan and Mayor Pro-Tem Bre Blanchard. And with a shout of "let's go," everyone went to their respective cars and drove across the line..and almost instantaneously, one by one, each car disappeared as if into nothingness...
Meanwhile, at a butcher shop in downtown Storybrooke...
A thin, plain woman was angrily chopping beef ribs when a mature, husky, neatly-dressed gentleman with the shaved head walked into her shop. She regarded him warily.
"What do you want, sir?" The woman asked the patron without much emotion.
WIth a rather sizable level of nonchalance, the man answered. "Why Bo, I simply want you to give you the opportunity to take back your property."
"What do you mean, your highness." The last words were spoken by Bo Peep with a rather high level of acidity.
The man simply took out a picture and placed it on the counter. In the picture were the images of David Nolan and Mary-Margaret Blanchard. The picture of Nolan was circled in red. And crossed out.
The woman named Bo looked up at the man and smiled, and then instructed him "...if you please, can you go over, turn off the open sign and lock the door. I think we have many things to discuss..."
...and at the Blue Moon Motel...
Several men and woman were surrounding the bed where Polly Nix slept. For her, it was a restless, with occasional nocturnal cries for a woman named Ruby and someone named Zee. But a few pills can quiet one down. Even if one had to be held down to take the pills, not to mention other methods that were evident in marks on Polly's face.
Flanked by others on either side the old man in the cowboy hat looked down on the young woman sleeping...or more precisely, unconscious, and smiled.
"Soon, my daughter, we will remove the evil that has infected your soul. You are daddy's little girl. And God's little girl. And you are coming...home."

A/N: I don't think anyone who follows me understands that I am not really loving the way the TV show is turning out. I know three people are going to die before the end of the season, and I'm tired of investing my time and my heart in people that are going to die.
I do hope you understand this as I write these stories. All I'm trying to do is not only justice for all of these characters (and that includes Hook and even Robin), but just trying to reverse the many injustices done not only to these characters, but to the fine actors that play them.
I also apologize for any incoherence. I have not worked in this story in a while, so please, I need your input. I really would appreciate that.
Thank you all. See you later.
