Emily woke up to find Leaf looking at her and she jumped.
"Where am I?" Emily asked her groggily.
"In Lucius' tent, what did you do over the few hours?" Leaf asked her. "Also pull up the blanket."
Emily looked at her bare body and quickly pulled it over herself as she looked at the various items around the room. When Lucius came into the room the look on Emily's face was priceless. At least he had put on a pair of shorts.
"Don't worry you won't get pregnant." Lucius told her.
Emily relaxed as he said this and when he sat down beside her she laid her head on his shoulder.
"Not to sound impatient, but when is dinner going to be ready?" Lucius asked Leaf.
"Still an hour, don't worry I know sex can take a lot out someone." Leaf laughed.
Lucius smiled slightly as Leaf finished her sentence and he looked at Emily.
"What are you planning to wear?" He asked her.
"Shorts and a tank top." Emily replied.
"I'll get you a jacket in case it gets cold." Lucius told her.
When Emily turned around she found Leaf directly in her face their noses touching.
"Holy hell Leaf, haven't heard there something called personal space." Emily told her.
"So how was it?" Leaf asked her.
"You're perverted." Emily replied as Lucius came back with a stack of clothes.
Leaf shrugged as she jumped off the bed walked out of the tent. Emily slid out of the bed and shivered violently as the full force of the cold air hit her. She quickly walked over to Lucius and hugged him so that she could absorb some of the heat that radiated off his body like a heat wave. After she was warmed up she took her clothes from him and slipped into them. Reluctantly, she also took the jack et he handed out to her, but to her surprise it was a few sizes too big for her.
"I didn't have time to look for one of your jackets when I was grabbing your stuff, so you'll have to wear mine." Lucius told her.
"It'll do until I can get one that fits me." Emily replied as she rolled up her sleeves.
"Come on, we should get to the grab tent early." Lucius told her.
Emily wasn't able to react as Lucius picked her up and ran out the tent as she whacked him in the chest but she was laughing the whole time as the wind went through her fur. When they actually got to the grub tent Emily was still laughing like a maniac but she had looped her arms around Lucius' neck. Soon a Gruadivore came out of the tent and ushered them inside.
"I see last night was good?" She told them.
Emily looked at Lucius but he shook his head. "I didn't tell her."
"I can't get into his head hun." The Guardivore replied.
Lucius laughed as Emily's looked surprised.
"Stay out of my head." Emily told her.
"Good luck with that she can get past any mental lock." Lucius told her.
"She can't get into your head." Emily told her as he led her to the main table.
"She'd go insane because my memories, and she's the one that put the lock in place and I wiped her memory of how she did it." Lucius replied.
"You remember?" Emily asked him.
"Of course I remember." Lucius told her.
Emily nodded as she looked around the room and when she saw the Charizard from yesterday's forage group she tensed up as he came towards them. When he got to their table he looked straight at Emily.
"I'm truly sorry about how I acted, I was just in a bad yesterday, but I should've acted it out towards you. The truth is if these people could just learn to get along, I'd the happiest man alive, my nightmare would finally be over." He told her.
"Thank you for apologizing." Emily told him.
"David, take your seat you were the one who was successful this week." Lucius told him.
David took his seat on the other side of Lucius and leaned to whisper something into his ear. Lucius nodded before he stood up and the whole room went quiet.
"We hold this in the honor of two people." Lucius told them. "Emily, who brought me back to this wonderful outpost."
There was an uproar of cheers that went on for a few minutes and when it died down Lucius turned his attention to David.
"Next, we have David, who has led the last conquest against the Freedom Fighters." Lucius told the crowd.
There was another uproar and when this on finally died down.
"These two reasons are why we are having this feast, to give thanks to the people of this camp and the gods for their help in another year of successful warfare; but we also hold this feast to pay tribute to those who have died for this cause." Lucius told them as people with golden platters entered the room.
After a few minutes all the platter were laid out and people were getting hungry.
"Everyone, dig in!" Lucius shouted of the growl of thousands of stomach.
Emily was surprised at how orderly everyone was while getting their food but it was another thing as they ate; they just tore into their food like there was no tomorrow. After all was said and done everyone quickly filed out of the room to continue their duties and Emily followed Lucius through the crowd to a clearing in the forest. She followed him up into a tree and she leaned against his chest.
"Everyone got out so quickly."Emily told Lucius.
"Yeah, though it was a celebration of happiness there was also some much sadness flowing around the room." Lucius replied.
"Yeah, I felt it, it was like a rock on my chest." Emily replied as she started to work her hand over Lucius' chest.
"That's the thing when you in a war like this for as long as I have, then you learn to know either the person that died or their family." Lucius replied. "It's the same for everyone."
"How long has this war been going on for?" Emily asked him "Alibaster doesn't share a lot details."
"Ten years; nine of which I've been involved in." Lucius replied.
Emily kissed his lips softly before speaking again. "How have you stayed so nice?"
"What do you mean by that?" Lucius asked her.
"A lot of people that have gone to war have been mean or messed up in some way." Emily replied.
Lucius nodded while running a hand down Emily's back. "I guess I don't really have reason to be angry, I'm doing my job for a good reason."
Emily was about to say something but she held the thought as she felt Lucius tense up.
"What is it?" Emily asked him.
"Hunters, they are blind but not stupid." Lucius replied.
"Hunters?" Emily asked him.
"Experiments by the Freedom Fighters, usually the elderly or prisoners of war." Lucius replied.
Emily almost threw up as Lucius explained it but she couldn't react fast enough as Lucius leaped out of the tree to face the hunters.
