Chapter 10: Scorpion (I couldn't think of anything else to call it :P)

Harvey's POV

"EMPEROR SCORPION!" Eric shouted, and I looked up to see the most hideous thing I'd ever seen.

It was huge, and had two large claws in front and eight legs along its abdomen. The large black tail arced into the sky. Its fangs dripped poison and its purple eyes gleamed maliciously in the light of the sinking sun.

Nike immediately drew her Enchanted iron sword and charged it. Jerome and Mitch followed close behind, wielding their diamond weapons. Eric, Sub and I glanced at each other for a second before unsheathing our own weapons and running after them.

We all split up without even speaking. Mitch and Jerome flanked the sides, Sub and Eric went behind it, while Nike and I charged for the front.

I blasted the giant arachnid with all the magic I had and Nike slashed at its face. Neither of us could even hit it though, because its tail swept in front of it toward us, and we kept having to dodge it so we wouldn't get smashed. Sub and Eric were trying to cut the tail off so it wouldn't sting any of us, while Mitch and Jerome were trying to stab it in the side.

We weren't doing too well. The monster swung its tail around and smacked Jerome into a tree. Mitch tried to defend him, but the scorpion hit him with one of its claws, and the Benja flew in the opposite direction of Jerome and slammed into a cactus.

We kept trying to kill the beast, but we were quickly losing energy.

"Where's Sub?" I heard Eric yell.

"I don't know!" I yelled back. "I thought he was with you!"

"Would both of you just shut up?" Nike shouted at us as she hacked at the monster. "Now go get Mitch and Jerome! See if they're okay!"

'We can't just leave you!" I protested.

"You'll get killed!" Eric agreed.

"I'll be fine! Just go!" She ducked, the scorpion's tail just narrowly missing her head.

Eric and I glanced at each other and took off in separate directions.

Nike's POV

I slashed at the giant monster, trying desperately to stay alive. Come on, Sub. Come on, I thought frantically.

The scorpion jabbed forward with one of his claws. I tried to dodge, but I was too slow. It clasped me in its grip and squeezed, making me drop my sword.

My vision started to go black, when I spotted something on the monster's back. It was Sub, holding his flint knife and trying not to fall off. He set the blade against the area between scorpion's eyes and pushed harder than I thought he was capable of.

The scales on its head broke as the dagger sank into its head. The arachnid made a weird screeching noise and shuddered, collapsing to the sand. The stinger lashed around, trying to find what hit it. Sub scrambled across its back, trying to avoid the tail, but it found him and the stinger scratched hard at his back. Sub's mouth opened in a silent scream as he toppled off the monster's back.

The claws loosened and I was able to wriggle out of its grip. The scorpion gave one last great heaving breath and disintegrated to dust. I struggled to my feet and dashed to Sub.

"Are you guys okay?" I heard Eric's voice say. I looked behind me and saw that the two boys had done what I asked and got Mitch and Jerome to make sure they were okay. Eric had Jerome leaning on him and Harvey had Mitch. Benja and Bacca were both unconscious.

I turned back to Sub and helped him up. He still seemed to be awake (kind of), but his eyes were half closed and his breathing was shallow.

"Sub?" I asked. "Sub, you okay man?" No response. Well, it's not like he would be able to talk anyway, but I was hoping for a thumbs-up, or a nod, or something.

Harvey sighed. "Great. Now we've got one unconscious dude, one unconscious Bacca, one half-dead mute guy, two cursed sorcerers, and one redstone obsessed weirdo." Eric glared at him when he said that.

Belladonna chimed. "And a pixie," Harvey added.

"And we've only been on this quest for-" Eric stopped and checked his watch. "Forty five minutes."

"Well," I said. "We could set up camp here and let these guys heal. We can leave again tomorrow." Neither of the boys argued. It's not like we had any other options.

Eric dug some wool and some sticks out of his pack. "I'll make some tents for the night."

Harvey smirked. "No need." He raised his free hand, which was now glowing purple. There was a small flash of light, and suddenly there were six tents in front of us. All of the tents were huge. He took Mitch to one that was patterned red and black plaid. I dragged Sub toward a lime green one that was probably for him. Eric walked Jerome to one that was forest green and diamond blue. Eric then grumbled and went to one that was a bit smaller than the others and was redstone red.

"This one's yours," Harvey pointed one out to me, and I gasped. It was amazing. Light green and yellow. It was also sparkling, so it looked kind of like experience.

"It's so pretty! Thanks, Harvey!" I walked inside. There was a sleeping bag the colour of gold inside. It was shining so it almost looked Enchanted. Awesome.

I got inside the sleeping bag and fell asleep almost immediately.

Eric's POV

I woke up to the sun shining right in my eyes through the open zipper of my tent. But I thought I zipped it up. Then I sighed. Harvey probably came and unzipped it so the stupid sun would be in my face.

I groaned and got out of my brown sleeping bag. Why did mine have to be brown anyway? Everyone else's were probably, like, yellow or orange or some kind of nice colour. And mine was really uncomfortable, too. I'm pretty sure Harvey doesn't like me.

When I walked out of my tent, I saw everyone except for Sub sitting around a fire, munching on bacon and eggs. Sub was probably still in his tent. He got pretty roughed up in that fight with the scorpion.

Nike probably heard me come out, because she turned around and smiled at me. "Come have some bacon. We've still got some, even though Jerome ate most of it."

"I'm a Bacca, okay? We get hungry faster than you humans do."

Mitch rolled his eyes and held out a plate of bacon and eggs. I took it. "Thanks."

I just plopped down on the ground next to Nike, when Sub came out of his tent, rubbing his back. He was grimacing in pain, but he looked a lot better than he did the day before. He came and gingerly sat next to me.

"So, what was up with the giant scorpion?" Mitch asked. "I've never seen one of those before. I've only seen small ones."

"Well," Harvey started. "Herobrine's been working on something huge. He wants to create something big that he can use to destroy Notch. And when Notch is gone, Herobrine will take over."

That dampened the mood by a lot.

The things I put Sub through are terrible. Just wait until we get into the climax… :) MWA HA HA I'M EVIL
