Chapter X: Secrets are Everywhere
Speed Racer
"There," Connor said as he made the final adjustments on the power box and stepped down the stool he was standing on. "We should be able to sneak into Zile's office without being noticed," he said putting away his tools smiling.
"Good, let…," Sam began to say until we all heard a noise outside. It sounded like footsteps approaching rapidly. "Shh…," she said turning to us before peering out to see whose coming and walking out to see who was coming.
We stood still in anxiety until Sam came back pulling an exhausted Tucker behind, "We…have…to…go…Za…," the geek said out of breath and utterly exhausted.
"He's right, Zile is heading this way," X confirmed looking out quickly, "Come on, I know where to go," he says as he leads us to a corner of the room explaining that the academy was bullt on abandon Nuclear lab it has secret passages that lead underground. "Follow me," he tells us as he kneels down and pulls off one of the tiles revealing an iron door that opens providing our escape.
"That was close," Lucy said carrying to sleeping geek through the passages, "where to now?" she asks as we gaze at the maze of passages and turns before us.
"This way," X says pointing to the left as we follow him.
Danny
"I can hardly believe it," I said as I stepped out of the spacecraft onto the iron rich soil of the red planet. My goal of an astronaut had finally been realized. "It's beautiful," I said looking out the vast expanses of the universe before me.
"Captain Fenton, is everything okay?" mission control asked me through the microphone as walked across the Martian plains. I really wasn't paying attention as I was busy thinking about how great my life has been going.
Vlad is locked up in prison forever and his portal to the Ghost Zone is in time buble thanks to Clockwork. Yep life can't get much better.
I continue walking through landscape until I reach Cydonia and the famous face on Mars. "So it is real," I said gazing at wondrous sight before me until I am distracted by the static from my com link. "Come in again?" I ask through it.
"Be…wa...re….a...l," was all that comes through.
"What was that, I didn't hear…," I ask until feel something crawl up my leg. I look down and see some creepy alien spider on me. "Get off," I shout trying to pull it off but it's too attached. My heart beats wildly as I watch puncture my suit.
"Mission…control, we have a problem," I say as I feel the pressure start affect me but all I hear is static, "please someone," I call out as collapse in pain until everything goes black.
It was then my eyes flung open and I saw that was not in space but in some ancient looking dungeon. It was filled with torture devices from a bygone age. The sight of these frightening relics sends a chill up my spine. "where the heck a…," I began to ask until I see a shadow in front of me and I look up and find a large Frankenstein like man in front of me. "Oh crud," I mutter realizing the situation I am. "Why can't things ever go my way just for once? I asked myself as the being knelt down and we came face to face.
Connor
"Do you know where we are at?" I asked X as I shone a flashlight through the tunnels and halls of the underground shelter. The hardest part was that nothing stood out, there were no signs, maps, or even arrows just endless hallways and doors.
"Trust me," he said as we continued to march through the darkness only stopping every few yards or so to examine the walls. There was something about them that told X we were heading in the right direction but it was only known to him.
While we were walking, I heard a noise behind us. My mind raced back to the Freddy Krueger incident and the horrors of that day. My heart stopped in terror as I heard it again, it was a moaning sound and it was so close to us-my mind was a blaze of fear thinking of all the demons it could be. "It's Xanu!" I shouted as Sam hit me in the back of the back of the head.
"You idiot!" she snapped rolling her eyes in disgust, "It's just Tucker coming to," she explained as I looked back and saw Lucy place the Technogeek on the ground as he opened his eyes.
"Where are we?" he asked as he slowly rose to his feet and looked around at the bunker in confusion.
"We're in the nuclear shelter underneath the academy," Speed explained to him telling him of the school's prehistory as research lab as we continued marching until X told us to stop. "What did you find? Speed asked his brother curiously.
"See this wall," X said pointing to a nearby wall, what he could see in it I had no idea as to me it seemed like every other one in this place. "If you looked closely you would see that it's the same type of stone that is underneath the walls outside Zazic's office," he explained placing a hand on a nearby, "we can sneak into there from here," he explained opening the door as we walked inside.
Gomez Addams
"You're move," I told Mortica as I moved my knight across the antique board. The chess set has been in the family since the middle ages with pieces depicting angels on the right side and demons of the left. It was commissioned by Pope Honorius III himself.
"I'm sorry dear my Angel prince takes your Hell Knight," she said moving capturing my piece smiling, "Checkmate," she said happily.
"Ah, defeated," I sighed playfully as I went to kiss but was interrupted by a noise, "What was that?" I asked as I looked up and saw Thing walk up the steps from the dungeon in a rush.
"What is it thing," I ask the disembodied hand as he signs furiously, "The culprit is awake," I translate for everyone as I smile. "Wonderful, let's go," I said as we walked down the steps to the dungeon where the crook was being held.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Mortica asked worriedly as we approached the old wooden doors, "he might be dangerous," she cautioned as I laughed.
"Mortica, you make that sound as if that's a bad thing," I said as I place my hand on the door listening to it creak open.
Annalise
"Stupid Speed Bump and his ghost geek friends," I cursed as I stepped out of the shower and went to get changed. I could still smell the stench of dirty sweaty socks on me and would probally never get it off. "Well at least I got that spyware installed," I said as I finished getting dressed and turned on the TV but it wouldn't work. "I thought father said he paid the electric bill," I said as I heard my phone ring.
I glanced over at the nightstand and saw that it was father, "yeah, what is it this time," I asked him upset that he decided to pester me now with his 'stupid' errands. Why can't he get his stupid henchmen to do these things?
"Yes, what is it this time?" I asked him exhausted messaging my temples looking up at the bland beige ceiling of my dorm. Even though my father built this place, he wants me to have a 'low key status' so I don't 'draw attention to him.'
"Honey, daddy needs you to keep Speed and his friends busy while I check something out," he said in his patronizing tone that drives me mad. "Did you hear me Annalise?" he asks as I sigh in frustration.
"Yes, father, keep Speed Stain and his geek squad busy," I said as hung and left to find those losers so they don't interfere with whatever stupidity father has planned.
Sue
"Last delivery for the day," I said as Mr. Shen paid us the money and we walked down the steps to our bikes. It was a beautiful day out and I was looking forward to taking a break without any weirdness going on.
"Come on, let's go before Mr. W…," Sid began to say as he stopped midsentence as looked up, "I think we have problem," he said as I looked up and saw Kong Li sneaking into local pharmacy. The store was known for it's exotic medicines and carries a lot of traditional remedies like burnt tree bark and boiled rat livers.
"Something tells me, that he isn't going there to get something for a cold," I said getting on my bike and lifted the kickstand.
"Sue there's just one problem, it would take too long to get there," Tobey reminds me, the pharmacy is about a couple of blocks away giving Kong Li would have hightailed but there was a way to get there fast.
"Do you remember that shortcut Barney showed us that one time?" I ask the boys as the nod smiling, "I think it's to see if it works," I said as we took off to stop whatever evil Kong Li is cooking.
