AN: Thank you very much for the reviews and interest for my story. I am really sorry that I was not able to update as much as I want to. I am just currently struggling with my social and personal life. But as promise, I won't abandon Against Destiny.
Disclaimer: I do not own The Secret Circle and its character. The plot twist is mine though. Also, I don't have any Beta, so please take it easy on me on the corrections and lastly, I do have plans on the plot that maybe different from the facts of TSC.
Chapter 10 The Present
Important encounters are planned by souls long before the bodies see each other. – P. Coelho
Nick POV
I wonder if fate has a ridiculous sense of humor. Just when I finally found her, fate has other plans. How is it possible that 2 people who undeniably love each other are not meant to be? Ever since my parents died, I kept everything to myself. I turned into a cold rock that lacked emotions, except when it's about Conant.
Conant.
Of all the people that could possibly be destined to Cassie! Why did it have to be him!?
I just want to grab Cassie and run away, so far from this forsaken place. Away from all the magic! Away from all the problems! Away from the circle! Away from Him!
I just want to run away and start a new life with Cassie. She is all that matters to me. I live with just her.
I know that I was just with Cassie, but I feel anxious to what they are talking about so I turn my car around. I finally arrived at Cassie's. I was about to ring the doorbell when the door opened.
"Oh it's you Nick! Are you looking for Cassie?" Grandma Howard asked. When I first met Grandma Howard, I found her loving and caring woman. According to Cassie, she has a great knowledge of witchcraft. I bet Cassie is just as talented as she is.
"Yes Ma'am."
"I was just about to go to the town to do some grocery shopping. I think Cassie is in the Beach dear. Would you like to wait for her here?"
"No need Ma'am, I'll just go and see if Cassie needed company."
"Such a sweet young man you are. Oh… and what have I told you before? You can call me Grandma." She turns around to lock the door.
"Sorry Grandma. See you later." She smiled and turned around to lock the door.
Just when I was about to leave, she called my name. I turn around and asked her if she needed anything.
"There will be challenges in your life. I can sense it. Don't give up my dear. Believe in yourself and all that you are. I know that something inside you is something greater that any obstacle that will block you way. I know this and I know that Cassie knows this as well. Cassie will need you by her side. I want to both support and love each other." She said to me. And I was shocked. Does she know?
"I love Cassie and I will do everything to make her happy." I want to ask her what she knows.
"Thank you very much dear." I watch her as she gets to her car and drove away.
…
…
…
As I neared the beach, I saw Dianna walking my way. She looks like she was about to cry. When she finally noticed me, she gave me a sad smile. I'm not really in the mood to talk to her. Last time I did, she wanted me to give up Cassie. I walked past her when she started talking.
"I know how you feel right now." She said.
"Do you?" I asked her
She turned around and started to stare at something towards the beach.
"We both love someone that we can't have."
I turn to see what she was looking at and saw Cassie with Conant.
"You are wrong."
"Why do you want to fight the inevitable? I can see the longing in his eyes. He loves her. I don't understand why the two of you are fighting against something that you can't win."
"I am fighting because I love Cassie and she loves me."
"I love Adam" I turned to look at her and saw tears flowing from her eyes. "I love him so much. And I want him to be happy."
"How about you? Will you be happy to see him with someone else? What about Cassie? What about me? Are we going to be happy as well?"
"It will take time…"
"No it won't. If I have to get Cassie away from here, I will!"
"Nick! Please… Don't be selfish."
"I'm selfish? You are the one being selfish! You want Conant to be happy! You don't care about anyone else!"
"You think I want this? You think I want to see Adam with someone else, let alone someone that doesn't love him?! You are wrong! If this was just as simple as him falling in love with someone else, I will fight! But how can I fight fate? How can I fight it, huh Nick? Tell me! Because if I can I will! Come on Nick! Tell me!" I've never seen Dianna like this. "We can't fight it, so why prolong the pain?" she fell on her knees and started to cry her heart out.
"Dianna…" a voice coming from behind me. "I am so sorry." Conant. He started to walk towards her but signals him to stop. "I never wanted to hurt you."
"I know Adam. And I understand. You, Cassie, Nick or I can't control it. There's nothing else to do than just to let the course go as it should be." Dianna said
"No." Cassie is mine. I don't care what the freaking fate has lined up. "As long as Cassie loves me, chooses me, I will fight for her."
"She told me her theory. Both of us doubted that it will work the same way to me since I already know that she is my soulmate."
"I didn't know nor did I plan this to happen. We never did see each other eye to eye. But I am not that cruel. I love Cassie and I don't care about this stupid fate between you and Cassie. Even if I have to leave the circle I will! I will not let anything or anyone" I looked at Adam. "get in the way! I don't care about if you are supposed to be her future. She is mine now and I don't plan to change that."
"Nick. Cassie already told me that she will not leave you. I also know that you will not leave as well." Adam said
"Good." I stared at him "I know that this might be hard to believe, but I am sorry that this happen because of me. I know that you might see me as a selfish person Dianna, but I did not intent this to happen. Please try to understand." I said
"Nick, I know how hard this is for you…" Dianna started talking when I saw that Cassie fell to her knees.
"Cassie!" I run towards her, leaving Dianna and Conant behind. When I got to her, she was not responding to anything I say. She was so pale that it scared me. I hated when this happen to her.
"Cassie! Wake up!" I tried again.
"What happen to her?" Adam yelled while running towards us with Dianna. When he reach us, I noticed that he was about to reach for her. I pulled her closer. I do understand his situation but there is no way I will let him touch her. He frowned for a second but when he saw my glare he just shake his head.
"Cassie! Please wake up!" I continue on trying to wake her up. She started to open her eyes and I saw the confusion on her eyes.
"Cassie, please talk to me!? Are you alright?" I asked.
"I saw something, there were someone casting some magic, and then another person shows up and they started to fight." She said in a hoarse sound.
"Let me take you home first." I carried her back to her house. I needed her safe.
AN: So yeah… this is Nick's POV of the last chapter. Hope you like it.
