Chapter 10

Flashback

Marceline was in her room, curled up in a ball. It had been two weeks since Marshall's death, and after that time, the young Reaper hasn't been eating, sleeping, or gone out of her room. The door opened and Kid stepped inside. "I knew you would be here."

"Leave me alone."

The eldest of the Death siblings sat next to her and pulled her into a hug. "It'll be okay." The girl didn't speak. Her black bangs shielded her eyes as tears rolled down her face. "Hey Marci. Want me to sing that song you like?"

"The one you and Marshall sing to me?" Kid nodded and kissed her cheek.

"If it's to protect you, I will become evil for you."

Marceline rubbed sleep out of her eye as she sat up. Sunlight poured through the window as she looked outside. "It's that song." She muttered.

"Damn it Patty!"

Kid's shouting startled her. "Better go see what's up." She swung her legs off of the bed and started to walk to the living room, where her brother was shouting at the younger Thompson sister. She opened the door and saw her laughing while Kid was on his knees, crying over a painting that had scribbles on one side. "I'm not gonna ask." She said.

"Oh?" Liz turned to the door. "Did we wake you?"

"I was awake five seconds before he started shouting." The Reaper yawned. "Anyway guys can you fix the problem before he starts freaking out even more?"

"Yeah but Patty used Sharpie." Marceline glared at the girl who was laughing. Patty also hid a black Sharpie behind her back. The reaper moaned. "We're gonna need a lot of Germ-X and paper towels."

"Sure." Liz dragged Patty out of the hallway, and Marceline bent down. "Hey Kid. Mind helping us fix this?"

"It's not symmetrical." He was moaning. "And neither am I. I should die." He looked up to see his sister with tears in her eyes. "I didn't mean it." He said quickly before he hugged her. "But still." The girl raised an eyebrow as her brother pointed at the painting again. "That is still unsymmetrical!"

"Didn't I say we could fix it!?" She shouted back.

"Patty used a damn Sharpie! That's hard to remove you know!" The siblings were arguing when the Thompson sisters came back with what they needed. "Uh did we miss something?" Liz asked while raising an eyebrow.

"Shut up Liz!" The Reapers shouted at her before arguing to each other. Patty started to laugh. "They're yelling at each other!" She shouted as she kept laughing. The two sisters ignored the siblings as they cleaned the painting, leaving without a trace of Sharpie in just a few minutes. The female Reaper stopped shouting at her brother as she peered behind him and glanced at the painting. "See? Perfectly symmetrical."

Kid turned around, and he sighed. "That's much better." Marceline started to giggle until her dream came back to her. "Hey Kid, do you remember that song?"

"Hm?" Kid thought about it before it came to him. "Oh yeah."

"What song?" Liz asked the two.

"You see, when I was little, I always felt bad about myself." Marceline explained. "So Kid and Marshall used to sing to me so they can cheer me up."

"You can sing!?" The Thompson sisters exclaimed at their meister. Kid nodded with no expression. "Yes why?"

"So what was the song called?" Liz asked while her sister went to go play with a giraffe.

"We never thought of a title." Marceline replied before she started to sing.

You're the Queen of the country And we're the servants of yours
We were triplets from the start that from fate got torn apart

We will try to protect you from everything that hurts
And we'll do as you'll say, even the evil way

Liz's eyes widened as the girl sang. Her voice sounded. . . . . . like a goddess's. It made her imagine the siblings in a large throne room. Kid and another boy, who she thought was Marshall Lee, were servants bowing down to their sister, who was the Queen sitting on the throne. "If it's in order to protect you," The boys said together. "We will become evil for you."

Marceline smiled as the two looked up to her, their eyes filled with love and protection.

The image almost made Liz tear up.

When Marceline finished singing, she saw Liz turning away. "You didn't like it?"

"No I liked it." Liz's voice shook as she spoke. "It just sounded. . . . . . . tragic." The Reapers turned to each other. "Actually, we kind of got the song from reading this book called Closure Of Yellow. It's one of the Evillous Chronicles books." Kid explained.

"The book is about a pair of twins named Rilliane and Allen, who were separated when they were little." Marceline continued. "When the two were twelve, Allen came back as a servant and he served Rilliane, who was the ruler of the country at that time."

"Then Allen fell in love with a girl named Michaela, who was a resident of a neighboring country, Elphegort." Kid went on. "Although, she had her eyes set on the King of Marlon. His name was Kyle."(Please correct me if I mixed that up.)

"Since Rilliane loves Kyle, she sent a letter of marriage to him. When he refused, she ordered Elphegort to be burned to the ground, and all women with green hair was to be killed."

"That's awful." Liz said in a shocked tone.

"After this, a revolution occurred." Marceline kept going. "A women in red called Germaine, lead an army to capture Rilliane. In order to protect his sister, Allen disguised himself as the Queen while she was dressed as a servant. While the revolutionary army thought that they had captured the Daughter Of Evil, she was actually running away from the palace."

"And then, the next day, when the clock struck 3, he was beheaded." Kid finished, and Marceline just yelled out "Oh it's tea time!" Liz jumped. She never expected her voice to sound like that. "You really had to say it like that?" Kid asked his sister, who giggled in response. "Uh yes." She scoffed.

"It's tea time!?" Patty came running down the hall with a toy giraffe in her hand.

It was late at night, and whimpers of fear were heard from Marceline's room. Kid held the girl in his arms, trying to calm her down. "It's alright."He shushed while petting her. "It was just a dream."

"But it seemed so real." Marceline looked up at him. "Sing for me. Please?" Kid smiled. "Which version?"

"The one we made up." Kid sighed before he pulled her closer, and he started to sing.

You're the Queen of the country And we're the servants of yours
We were triplets from the start that from fate got torn apart

We will try to protect you from everything that hurts
And we'll do as you'll say, even the evil way

Marceline wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled his face closer to hers as he cupped her cheeks. They both closed their eyes and leaned in closer with slightly opened mouths. Their lips almost touched before Kid backed away. "Huh?"

"I'm sorry." Kid replied in a soft tone. "We can't. . . . . . . . We're siblings. You know that."

"I don't care." Kid stood up and his sister wrapped her arms around him. "I'm just. . . . . . scared. I don't want to lose you, Onii-chan. Please I love you." A tear rolled down the girl's face as she was pulled into a hug. "I love you, Marci." He said. "But. . . . . . . . We just can't."

Marceline tightened her grip as he pulled her closer. "Stay with me. Forever."

"I will."

"Promise?" Kid kissed her nose and smiled. "Promise."

Standing from the door, was a pair of blue eyes staring at the two.

Me: So who do you think that was? Okay something off topic, those lyrics were from an English fandub of the song Servant Of Evil, for those who didn't know. What can I say; I love Vocaloid. Don't know Vocaloid? Look it up. So anyway until next time, stay tuned.
