Two shadows standing by the bedroom door,
No, I could not want you more than I did right then,
As our heads leaned in.
Well, I'm not sure what this is gonna be,
…
Hold my breath as you're moving in,
Taste your lips and feel your skin.
When the time comes, baby don't run, just kiss me slowly.

"If you want to talk to her so badly, then do it. Just know we're over."
I very easily ignored my sister when I heard her scream.
"Can I sit with you?"
Isa looked at me when she heard Emmett and Garrett.
I shrugged and waved a hand.
"What happened?" Isa asked pulling an apple off of Garrett's tray.
"Alice is now friends with Denali and Rose is working towards the dark side." He answered taking the apple back.
Isa hummed around the food in her mouth and looked at me. "I told you so."
I rolled my eyes and flicked her nose. "I'll see what I can find out when I go home."
"Just keep my car out of the firing range." She said fixing her septum ring.
I kissed her lightly. "Maybe." I said as the bell rang and I stood to throw away our trash.
"Jasper, if my car gets fucked up I'm going to kick your ass." She shouted as I walked off.
"Let's get to class." I said stopping at the door.
After waving off Emmett and Garrett, Isa came over to me, sliding her hand in my back pocket.
"I was serious about my car." She said as we walked to Stefani's.
"I know you were. I would never fuck up your car though." I told her easily.
"Isa."
"I'm going in. Come find me when you finish." I said leaving her to talk with Edward.
She nodded and reached up and kissed my jaw. I kissed her forehead and went inside.
"We're in the theatre." Stefani said when she saw me. "Tell Isa, wherever she is, and let's go."
I nodded and followed her to the theatre. I sent Isa a text letting her know as I sat on the edge of the stage.
I grabbed a guitar and strummed lightly as students started to trail in. ignoring them all, I continued to play.
"She's got all my dreams, I've got these broken things, and they always disagree. But if there's one real thing you would choose to believe, just don't lose your faith in me. She's got broken things where her heart should be and I keep rolling them over in my head. Make my voice brand new, I'll give it all to you and I'll never speak again."
The bell rang when I paused and I continued to sing when it stopped.
"Lord, I've been trading places with the ghost in and it's starting to make me sick. But if there's one real thing I could choose to believe, just a little hope would do the trick. She's got broken things where her heart should be, but I can tell there are moments when I'm really getting through. Make my voice brand new, I give it all too you and I'll never speak again."
"Show me a magazine with all her fancy things." Isa sang as she walked closer to the stage.
"And all the boys' wet dreams; if you think this was easy…" I sang back.
"You're wrong." We sang together but I let her hold the note. She came and sat next to me while I finished up.
"She's got broken things where her heart should be and I keep rolling them over in my head. If your heart is true then I'll be with you because it's you that I adore. And we both know I loved you more."
I let the last chord ring out through the theatre before the class started to clap.
"That is what you're going to do today." Stefani said when they quieted down. "Jasper, you're going to sing again before the end; as will your other half. Alone."
She turned back to her class. "Jasper and Isabella are from my mixed class and they'll be helping me improve upon your talents."
As she talked to her class some more, Isa and I made our way off the stage to sit in the seats behind her class.
"What do you want for dinner?" she asked into my neck.
"What is James making?" I asked in return.
"Whatever you want. When I get home, I'll be making something vegetarian for myself."
"Tell him to make whatever."
"Pay attention." Stefani said sitting next to us.
Isa sighed and sat up. "Let's get this over with."
I laughed and Stefani called up the first group.
"June and Veronica, you're up."
"Your song is what?" Isa asked leaning against me.
"Untouched." They said together.
"I like that song. Don't fuck it up." She said.
Jesus F. "Don't mind her just sing your song." I told them.
They sang and were surprisingly pretty good.
"Jasper, Isabella." Hall said when they finished.
"Y'all were good." I said, my accent leaking into the words.
"Agreed the only thing is when y'all did the parts where you couldn't really stop and take a breath without messing up the song, your voice got higher the more you needed air." Isa said.
"Work on your breathing and y'all should be okay in life." I said.
The rest of the class went up and we gave them feedback.
"Y'all were good enough to get into the class." Isa started for the last group. "But if you want to be good enough to do anything major in music you'll need to work on your breathing. Jade breathe less, Kayla breathe more. Both of you need to work on your pitch management. The song you did was honestly a horrible pick for you because neither of you knew the words when the music sped up and you made up words when the music slowed down." She took a deep breath. "I'm not sure who and or what you were singing for but if it was for anyone at all y'all need serious help. Stop outdoing each other because you sound ratchet as hell and more or less absolutely unnecessary. Positives, you have very little of them. The only good thing about this performance was that you had the projection down to a tee." She finished leaning back against me. "Dismissed."
Stefani rolled her eyes at Isa and arched an eyebrow at me. "You have anything at all to add?"
I shook my head. "She just reads my notes off the paper." I told her pointing at Isa.
She shook her head. "Class work on everything they told you about. Tomorrow we're trying again." She said to her class then turned to face us. "Which one of you is going first?"
"I'll go." Isa said, standing from her perch on my lap.
She grabbed a guitar and perched on the stool center stage.
"Song?" Stefani called.
"Sober."
"Let's hear it."
Isa played lightly as she started.
"I don't wanna be the girl who laughs the loudest or the girl who never wants to be alone. I don't wanna be that call at 4 o'clock in the morning because I'm the only one you know in the world that won't be home.
"Ah, the sun is blinding; I stayed up again. Oh, I am finding that's not the way I want my story to end."
She paused, winked at me and continued.
"I'm safe up high, nothing can touch me, but why do I feel this party's over? No pain inside, you're my protection. How do I feel this good sober?"
She paused again and started easily.
"I don't wanna be the girl that has to fill the silence." She paused and I counted a 4/4 count before she started playing. "The quiet scares me because it screams the truth. Please don't tell me that we had that conversation; I won't remember, save your breath because what's the use?
"Ah, the night is calling and it whispers to me softly come and play. Ah, I am falling and if I let myself go I'm the only to blame."
She held amazingly and the soft murmurs amongst the class picked up volume.
"I'm safe up high, nothing can touch me, but why do I feel this party's over? No pain inside, you're my protection. How do I feel this good sober?"
She played for a bit before singing again.
"When it's good, then it's good, it's so good 'til it goes bad. 'Til you're trying to find the you that you once had. I have heard myself cry 'Never again' broken down in agony, just tryna find a friend."
She held again before finishing up.
"I'm safe up high, nothing can touch me, but why do I feel this party's over? No pain inside, you're my protection. How do I feel this good sober?"
She never ceases to blow me away.
