The golden furred wolf confused Niko. And not just because he had thought her existent only in his dreams. She was different to the wolves around her, maybe because she was new to the pack. Maybe because she seemed so familiar and almost human. But when she sniffed at his hand and he felt hr acceptance of him, he felt the desire to open his arms and embrace her. Though the wolves were stronger than humans he had never allowed himself to embrace one so fully. He had always been afraid that he would harm them. But not the new female.

When she brushed her face against his Niko felt an odd bond form between them, one stronger than the familiar bond he held with the others of the pack. With this she-wolf in his arms Niko felt like he was accepted, felt like there was no where else he'd rather be. He held her tighter, reluctant to let her go. Yes, she could kill him with the swiftest of movements but Niko did not feel afraid.

As he looked around he saw that the males of the pack did not glare at him as they did when he grew closer to the other females. No they seemed to be nodding at him, their golden eyes aglow with encouragement. They seemed to be urging him to do something, but he didn't know what. He smiled at them and their heads tilted to the side as though they expected him to talk. So he did.

'So the couple's daughter.' At his words the she-wolf in his arms pulled herself away from him and loped towards the pack. They crowded round her as though supportive and he grew even more confused. Did they know Rapunzel? Had any of them ever hurt her? Had the golden she-wolf hurt her? He shook his head, the pack would never have allowed her to become one of them if she had hurt a human. Though animals, they seemed more humane than many humans.

Oh god no, what is he going to say about me? Rapunzel panicked as the wolves around her closed in, putting their snouts against her neck and her fur comfortingly.

'She's very beautiful, Rapunzel is. But she seems kind too, she offered me water,' Niko stood and began to pace, running his hands through his hair. Rapunzel watched closely and noticed he did not wear his gloves. Was he more comfortable around the wolves than he was humans? There were so many questions she wanted to ask, but they would have to wait. 'Can you guys believe that? It terrified me! If only she had known the powers she had meddled with, with that simple question.' As she watched, her suitor held up his hand, palm facing forward. She watched in amazement as clear liquid ran bubbled in the center of his palm, quickly amassing and slid down his hand and onto the ground, faster and faster like a waterfall.

That was the water she had scented! Niko produced water, so much of it she wondered if he weren't dehydrating. Was he a witch too?
