Okay people- sorry I took so long, but there is a thing called NaNoWriMo, and it takes up all your writing time. So I am sorry about that, but now I have a book I need to finish that does not mean you need to panic- I am going to keep writing, but updates may be a bit slower. Now I have had a request to reveal my beta reader so here you go reviewer- her name is Ultranova Prime, god bless her soul. Also I wanted to mention that this is not Jazz/Iren, Jazz is just the only person so far that she trusts, don't worry that changes. So here we go:
Crossing the River
Early Bird
The rest of the day was interesting, after that Lennox had to tell Morshower my decision and then me and Mix went for a 'walk.' Translation: why the hell haven't you called any of us, and what the fuck happened to you? And that was pretty scary. After the interrogation we talked about what happened after Mission City and all that Jazz- no pun intended.
We headed back and Mix dealt with Airstrike while I talked with Lennox about my duties. And then we went to dinner. After that I went to bed- tomorrow was going to be interesting.
Morning
"Ulak- oh yuck that's nasty," I said, yawning as I got up. My breath wreaked something fierce. I dug under my bed and got my toiletries and a spare uniform, standard N.E.S.T. issue. I looked at the clock- 0400 hours, good right on time. I walked out of my room to the communal showers/slash bathroom. I brushed my teeth and then took a shower.
Walking back to the officers' quarters I knocked on Mixes door.
"What?" he asked, opening the door.
"I can't be leave you're still sleeping! Do you know what time it is?" I asked, slightly astonished because Mix always rose early.
"0430 hours and why do I need to be up so early?" he asked.
"Commander Mix, training starts at 0600 hours. You have half an hour to get showered, dressed, and then eat breakfast before you need to meet me in the Gym for warm ups. Now get hopping, if you're late I'm going to give you hell," I said. His eyes widened comically and then he popped into his room and got his stuff.
"Okay kid, gimmy a minute. When did you get up?" he asked as he got out of his room.
"0400 hours, same as always," I said as he closed the door.
"Jeezy Pete kiddow, did you do this before you came here?" he asked as we started walking towards the boys showers.
"It was the only way I could keep the same routine as home; it was my way of keeping up with the unit even in hell. And when I was with a bad foster family it was a good way of avoiding abuse," I said. Mixes eyes filled with sadness as he looked at me.
"You've been through hell since you left haven't you girly?" he asked.
"Pretty much Uncle Laidir," I said. He put down his stuff and gave me a hug.
"I am so, so sorry you had to go through that Mo éan beag," he said. I smiled into his chest when I heard the familiar nickname of 'My little bird' in Gaelic. He gave me the nickname when I was five because I always ate so little but was so active that I reminded him of a bird.
"Níl mé chomh beag anois Uncail Laidir," I told him in Gaelic. Translation: I am not so little now Uncle Laidir.
"Tá tú fós beag dom Iren. Ach tá sé fíor, nach bhfuil tú chomh beag anois mar a bhí agat uair amháin. Tá tú tar éis fás isteach i bhean óg breá, agus rinne tú bródúil as dom." He said, smiling. Translation: You are still little to me Iren. But it is true; you are not as little now as you once were. You have grown into a fine young woman, and you have made me proud.
I beamed at the fact that I had done him proud, and hugged him as hard as I could. Which he returned by squeezing the air out of me.
"Can't. Breathe!" I said. He let go and smiled.
"Did you know that the first second-in-command of the Burns Unit came from a similar situation to yours?" he asked.
"No I didn't," I said.
"He did, and he grew up to become one of the best black ops commanders in the history of the burns unit," Mix said.
"Cool, now you really have to get going," I said.
"Okay, see you in the Gym," he said, walking away.
"Alright, see ya!" I called. I walked to the Autobots hanger and rapped on Jazzes hood.
"What?" he asked.
"It's 0445 hours. Get up; you promised you would help me train the newbies. You have five Minutes; I'm guessing Lennox is in Ironhide's back seat?" I asked.
"Yep," Jazz said.
"Alright, roll out, see you at the Gym," I said.
"Bye Whisp'" he said, driving out of the hanger. I walked over to Ironhides Alt. mode and rapped on the hood like I did with Jazz.
"What do you want? I'm rechargin'" Ironhide said.
"It is 0446 hours. Time to get up, you promised you would help me train the newbies. Lennox, you have fourteen minuets to get showered and eat breakfast before you have to meet me in the Gym for warm ups. If you are late I am going to give you hell, and hell equals pain, got it?" I asked. Lennox popped out of the driver's side door of Ironhide with a yelp.
"What the hell was that for Ironhide?!" Lennox yelled.
"The squishy wants you," Ironhide said, and without further ado drove out of the hanger.
"Do you want to explain that Whisper?" Lennox said, turning to me.
"You have thirteen minuets to get showered and eat breakfast before you have to meet me in the Gym for warm ups. If you are late I will give you hell, and hell equals pain when it comes to me," I said.
"Oh, that's it? Okay," he said.
"Twelve minuets Major, I suggest you hurry," I said.
"Okay kid, I'm going," he said, running out of the hanger.
"What is the racket about out there?" Ratchet asked, popping his head out of the med bay.
"I had to wake up Jazz, Ironhide, and Lennox so they could get to training in time for warm ups, what are you doing up?" I asked.
"I have to organize my Med bay," he said.
"Alright, you do that. I'm going to wake up Maj' see you later," I said, walking out of the hanger.
"Good bye Whisper," he said. I walked to the barracks to find Majory's bed empty when I heard footsteps from behind me.
"I remembered how Uncle John got when we didn't get to warm ups on time, figured you would be the same way," Majory said from behind me.
"Well at least I didn't have to wake you up," I said.
"I have a brain, you were always an early bird," she said.
"True, walk with me to the Gym?" I asked.
"Sure," she said, and we set off.
