Jairem: The way Damon is in this story, he really feels with his past of not having very good parents (that they weren't there for him), he won't be a very good dad. He loves Angel, but he's letting his past get to him and we will see him struggle with his inner demons.

SuSU12: Damon is definitely wrong and he will definitely work to overcome his fears.

Sorrybout'ya: Poor Damon indeed.

Guest: I understand that you feel the play like writing is confusing. I apologize for that. I hope that won't stop you from reading, but I will understand if you can't anymore. As for your question, yes, there will be Klaroline. It will take a little bit of time, but they will be endgame as well. hehe.

Guest: Regarding your question on the writing style, I was a little confused by what you said with how you feel it's weird to switch from Elena&Damon to Caroline and you wanted me to enter a few lines or a line. Do you mean put a line across the page in between when a different character speaks (like after Damon/Elena's conversation, put a line so you know it's Caroline who's speaking next or vice versa? or a few lines when a different person speaks?) I will do that in this chapter (put a line between Caroline and Elena/Damon's conversation). Please let me know if that helps.

Title: I love the way you lie

Summary: Elena lied to Damon years ago, making him believe that she cheated on him. He comes back to Mystic Falls and finds out the truth. She had his child and kept her a secret all these years. He is determined not to let her get away this time. All characters are human.

Chapter 10

(Caroline sighs in frustration. Why the hell did Tyler have to pick right here, right now of all places to say all of this? Even though he had a point that she had feelings for Klaus, too, she did have genuine feelings for Tyler. She just didn't know which man she had stronger feelings for. She looks at Tyler and shakes her head)

Caroline: "Why do you have to pick right now to talk about this? Tyler, this is where I work! I can't just have this kind of conversation when I'm at work."

Tyler: (shrugs) "Fine. Let's go to the break room. We can continue it there."

Caroline: (angrily) "You know damn well I can't! I can't just let anyone come in the back with me! Are you trying to get me fired?"

Tyler: (scoffs defensively) "You know damn well I'm not! This is a conversation we should have had a long time ago."

(Caroline looks around during Tyler's outburst and notices some customers watching them. She sighs loudly and interrupts him, raising her hands)

Caroline: "I'm NOT having this conversation right now! I'm at work. You can stay or you can go. I don't care. But I have to go."

(Caroline walks away from an angry Tyler. She rushes back to the break room where she sees Bonnie. Bonnie winces at her friend)

Bonnie: "Are you okay?"

(Caroline shapes her hands into a fist and screams)

Caroline: "Oh! That asshole! Ugh!"

Bonnie: (sighs) "Take a breath."

Caroline: (sighs deeply) "Sorry."

(Caroline puts a few strands of hair that fell to her face behind her ear)

Caroline: "I can't believe the nerve of him."

Bonnie: (raises her eyebrows) "Yeah, he was definitely pissed."

Caroline: (sighs in defeat) "You heard him, didn't you?"

Bonnie: (chuckles) "Honey, I think everyone in the store could. He voiced his opinions loud enough, as did you. He was definitely on a mission: to make sure his voice was heard."

Caroline: (rolls her eyes) "That it definitely was."

(Caroline takes a moment to take a couple of deep breaths and briefly paces in a circle before looking back at her friend)

Caroline: (sighs in defeat) "Do you feel I was being too hard on him?"

Bonnie: (raises her eyebrows) "Honestly?" (shakes her head) "No. Tyler needs to understand that he can't bring his personal troubles to your workplace. You can get in trouble over it. If he wants to discuss it with you, he can do it when you are alone together."

Caroline: "That's what I was trying to tell him, but he wouldn't listen."

Bobbie: (snorts) "Guys are like that. They're hopeless."

(After the laughter subsides, Bonnie looks at Caroline like she has something on her mind. Caroline sighs as she speaks)

Caroline: "I know that look. What now?"

Bobbie: (raises her hands) "Now, don't hit me or anything as I'm just trying to help."

Caroline: (nods) "I know you do." (tilts her head) "I may not always agree with you, but I at least respect it." (sighs) "Okay, let me have it."

Bonnie: (smiles briefly) "I will always support you as you're one of my best friends. I will also always listen to you when you need to vent." (seriously) "But there's something that's been on my mind lately."

Caroline: (confused) "What's that?"

Bonnie: "Klaus and Tyler. I know you have feelings for both of them. I know technically you're dating Tyler. He made it quite clear he wants to be more serious."

Caroline: (nods) "Yeah. I'm not ready for that, though. I thought our relationship was fine. Apparently not."

Bonnie: (sighs) "Care, he sees how you look at Klaus. You may not think it's obvious. Those around you can tell the difference, though."

Caroline: (sighs in defeat) "Okay, how do I look at Klaus being you noticed?"

Bonnie: (nods) "It's obvious you have feelings for him. I'm sure you were aware of that."

(Caroline slides her hands through her hair)

Caroline: "Yes, I know. I have tried to deny it for awhile, but I knew it's inevitable."

Bonnie: "He has feelings for you, too. In fact, if I didn't know any better, I would say he was in love with you."

Caroline: (weirdly) "I'm sure his feelings for me don't go that far, Bonnie."

Bonnie: (raises her eyebrows) "Are you sure about that? Sorry if this sounds rude, Car, but you have a tendency to not see things that are right in front of you."

Caroline: (annoyed) "Thank you, Dr. Phil. Any other observations?"

Bonnie: (smirks) "You have deeper feelings for Klaus than you do Tyler."

Caroline: (hands on her hips) "Are you done now?"

Bonnie: (smiles) "For now."

(Bonnie pecks Caroline on the cheek before walking past her)

Bonnie: "Have fun with the rest of your shift."

(Caroline briefly looks over her should as she speaks)

Caroline: "Gee, thanks."

(Caroline groans softly before finishing her shift)

(In the park, Elena looks at Damon heartbrokenly)

Elena: "What? Damon..."

(He looks down in sadness)

Damon: "It's true. You're better off without me...both you and Angel."

Elena: (sighs sadly) "Damon, why would you think that?"

Damon: (sighs) "Elena, I didn't have the best father growing up. Neither did you. Even though I loved being around kids growing up, even right now, I never felt I was good enough to be a father."

(Elena shakes her head in confusion as she tries to understand)

Elena: "Damon, you've been amazing with Angel so far. No parent is perfect. Look at me."

Damon: "Elena, you don't give yourself enough credit. You are a wonderful mother to her."

Elena: (scoffs) "You would've been a great father had I given you the chance."

Damon: (shakes his head) "You were right to keep me out. Even you knew back then I would've done horribly."

Elena: (serious tone) "Damon, you are not your father! He abandoned you and Stefan at a young age. You didn't have any role models growing up. Your mother did the best she could, but you said a long time ago she didn't do very well."

Damon: (scoffs) "She didn't."

(Elena gently moves Damon's face with her hand so he is looking directly in her eyes)

Elena: "You are nothing like your parents. I made the mistake years ago to keep you out of Angel's life when you had every right."

Damon: "Elena, you know my past. I was not always the best role model."

Elena: "But you grew up. You were still learning about life. Yes, I was, too, but I should have known better. I basically blamed you for your father's nonexistent role in your life and believed you would turn out just like him."

(A few tears fall down her cheeks, causing her to wipe them and she sniffles)

Elena: "I am so sorry for my actions. I just hope that one day you can forgive me."

(She looks down in shame and more tears fall down. That causes Damon to cry softly. He takes her hands into his and brings them to his lips, kissing it)

Damon: "If anyone needs forgiveness, it's me."

(Elena smiles a little as she sees Damon's caring side. Any doubts of love she had were completely gone. They look into each other's eyes and smile)

Elena: ""How about we forgive each other and call it even?"

Damon: (chuckles) "Deal."

(Though it is obvious from the longing looks they are giving each other that they want to kiss, they both decide in that moment it is not the right time. He takes her in his arms and they share a much needed hug. He holds her in his arms and rests his chin on her shoulder. He inhales deeply to smell her sunflower perfume. He could smell her all day. She always smelled perfect. His perfect Elena Gilbert. No matter what anyone ever said about her, she would always be the love of his life)

(All of a sudden, they hear a pair of running feet coming towards them)

Angel: (shouting) "Mommy! Damon! Can we go home? I'm done playing! I want to watch 'Dora: The Explorer' and play with my Play Dough!"

(Elena and Damon chuckle softly before turning their attention to their daughter)

Elena: "Yes, sweetie, we can go home. Did you have fun?"

Angel: (nods happily) "Uh-huh!" (to Damon) "Are you coming, too?"

(Damon looks at Elena nervously. Elena smiles at Angel)

Elena: "Tell you what. How about we have breakfast with Damon tomorrow morning at the cafe? We can eat and visit?"

(Angel glances at Damon in expectancy)

Damon: (nods & smiles) "I would love that."

Angel: (squeals) "Yay!"

(Damon is caught off-guard when Angel jumps on Damon's thighs and gives him a big hug. He welcomes it, though, and Elena looks on happily. After breaking free, Angel kisses her daddy on the cheek)

Angel: "I love you, Damon."

(He looks at his daughter tearfully and wants to tell her to call him 'Daddy Damon' again, but decides to take it one step at a time. With his tender eyes on Angel, he smiles)

Damon: "I love you, too, Angel."

(Angel jumps off of Damon and goes to Elena. Elena says goodbye as does Damon. They smile a little as they wave at each other before the mother and daughter disappears. Damon sighs deeply as he speaks)

Damon: "I love you, Elena Gilbert. Now and forever. You and our daughter."
