Okay, new chapter. I swear, I've been updating stories left and right. I'm on fire!
Dark: Where's the fire extinguisher?!
Dark, it's a metaphor.
Link: (sighs) Idiot.
So the other day, I was riding in the car with my parents, and I saw something peculiar. I looked up into a window and saw it… I saw a Sebastian cleaning the windows! Sebastian from Black Butler! It looked exactly like him, to the last detail. I had to do a double take.
Haha, just kidding! It would be cool if I did see him, though. Wouldn't it?
Anyway, I do not own Zelda. Enjoy.
What was the point of this lecture again? I asked myself. Oh, yeah. To put me to sleep.
I listened to the teacher drone on about how important math was. If it was up to me, I wouldn't be listening to this. I'd be out there on the streets, walking around and accidently bumping into someone who happened to work at the Twilight Manor. That's how my luck was going, anyway.
I had recently come to terms with my affection towards my butler. However, my feelings were not returned. I'd never admit to Link that I heard him talking to the mirror the other day. I'd play it cool and not let on to anything. If I couldn't be happy, then at least Link could be happy without having to worry over my feelings. So now I was determined to find all of the Twilight Manor's old workers and have them break the curse of the mirror. For Link, I'd rescue the mysterious Midna.
As the teacher prattled on, the bell rang in the middle of his lecture. He dismissed us with a sigh. I gathered my things and headed out the door towards my locker. I silently huffed to myself in frustration. I was not in the mood to be at school today. I unlocked my locker and put all my unnecessary things inside, getting out what I needed for homework today. I started for the door that would lead me to freedom.
Exiting the building, I heard two pairs of pounding footsteps behind me. Turning, I saw Ilia and Navi struggling to catch up with me. "Raven!" they yelled. They finally caught up to me, panting.
"What's up, guys?" I asked.
"Can… we… hang out at… your place today?" Navi gasped.
I thought about it. On one hand, it'd be nice to hang out with my friends. On the other hand, they could discover the supernatural secrets of the manor. I hummed, seriously thinking it over. "Yeah, sure. I don't see why not."
"Sweet," Ilia wheezed.
I couldn't help but chuckle as we started off. We walked, the cool autumn breeze giving us a nice reprieve. We talked casually, discussing this and that. Eventually, Halloween came up in the conversation.
"So Halloween is getting close and a festival is going to be held in town. What are you guys going to do?" Ilia asked.
"Speaking of town, let's swing by Town Hall so I can deposit my payment," I brought up. The girls nodded. "As for the festival, I don't think we're doing anything."
"Us either," Navi added.
Ilia whined. "Come on, guys! We've got to do something! It's for Halloween!" She paused, then groaned. "I just hope my dad isn't planning what I think he's planning."
"Isn't your dad the mayor?" I asked.
Ilia nodded. "Yeah. Dad said something about doing a sumo contest this year."
Navi cocked her eyebrow and tilted her head to the side in confusion. "What's wrong with that? That's a rather good idea. I bet a bunch of good looking guys would participate just to show off. Maybe even some girls, if they have a female addition. I'd get behind Mayor Bo on this."
"I can understand that," Ilia nodded. "But there's one problem."
"What?" Navi and I asked in unison.
"My dad would play too."
"Ooh." We had all seen Mayor Bo at least once, and he wasn't the slimmest person the world. That would definitely be a sight to see.
We walked into Town Hall and I reached into my bag, pulling out an envelope with my deposit in it. I walked up to the front desk and handed it to Anju. "They're should be about one thousand and fifty rupees in there, but you might want to check," I warned her. Anju nodded and sent us on our way.
"So how are you making so much money when you don't have a job, Raven?" Navi asked.
"I've been selling paintings, drawings, sketches, and I recently published a story," I told her.
"Wow!" Ilia exclaimed. "You're so accomplished and professional!"
I shook my head and continued walking, heading for the woods. Now that there were road signs, it was much easier to find the manor. Soon, we came up to the large iron gate. I grabbed the key from my bag and proceeded to unlock it. We walked up the long, twisting driveway, eventually reaching the large manor.
"Whoa," Navi breathed. "I'd seen this place in pictures, but it's so much bigger and cooler in person."
I nodded. "I've done a lot to fix it up. It was in shambles. I still have the stables, the garden, and the cemetery to fix up."
"C-C-Cemetery?!" my friends stuttered.
"Yeah. The previous owner had a family cemetery a little ways back, more towards the woods behind the manor. It's not in the best condition, and I consider that disrespectful."
My friends nodded stiffly and followed me inside. Closing the door, I called out, "I'm home!"
"Ah, Lady Raven. Welcome hom- Oh, I see you've brought guests," Link said, walking down the staircase. He stopped in front of us and bowed, one arm in front of his torso, the other behind it. "Welcome to the Twilight Manor, ladies. I am Link, one of the butlers that resides here.
"Hi, Link! It's nice to meet you. I'm Navi!" the bluenette said happily.
Hearing no response from Ilia, I turned to see her face flushed. Her mouth hung open slightly, no words forming. She was staring at Link like she was in love, and that made me scowl a little.
Navi continued. "And the love struck blonde is Ilia."
"Well then," Link said, still bowed. I could see him smirking. "It's an honor to meet such lovely ladies," he said, grabbing their hands and kissing the tops of them. If possible Ilia blushed harder. Link stood up. "Are Miss Navi and Miss Ilia joining us for dinner?" he asked me.
I stared at him, emotionless. "If they want," I drawled.
"YES!" Ilia suddenly shouted. We turned to look at her. She quickly composed herself. "Uh, I mean, yes. I'd like that."
Navi snickered. "Sure, I'll stay. What are we having?"
I caught Link discretely sniffing the air. "I believe Vaati said something about smoked deer, mashed potatoes and gravy, broccoli, and chocolate cake for dessert."
"Vaati?" Navi mouthed at me as Link spoke.
"Chef," I mouthed back. I cleared my throat, facing Link. We'll be heading up to my room now," I said.
Link bowed. "Of course, my lady." He turned to my friends. "If you happen to meet a shadier looking version of me, that's merely the other butler, Dark. He's my brother."
The girls nodded and followed me up the steps to my room. As we entered, I was suddenly bombarded by squeals of a dying pig, or that's what the noise coming from Ilia's mouth sounded like.
"Oh my gosh! He's so hot! I think I'm in love!" she shrieked.
I rolled my eyes and flopped on my bed. "Please, Ilia. You're not in love. You don't even know Link," I told her. "You simply think he's attractive."
She turned on me, red from anger. "And what do you know?!" she snapped. "I don't see you with a boyfriend! I don't think you could even get one!"
I was taken aback. Where was the sweet girl I had met a few weeks ago? This Ilia was completely different. Navi looked just as perplexed.
Ilia turned away from me. "Hmph," she snorted.
"Okay," Navi drawled out. The room was swamped by an awkward silence. Navi suddenly jolted up. "Ooh, I have an idea!" she shouted.
"What's that?" I asked.
"How about we do a haunted house?!" she exclaimed. "We could do it here! The manor is perfect!"
"That's not a bad idea," I said, thinking about it. I'll have to ask Link and Dark, maybe Vaati, I added silently.
"It's a great idea!" Ilia finally decided to join into the conversation. "And if we can't do it here, I have the perfect place in mind. Daddy would agree to it too. I'm sure he'd supply us with tons of stuff."
Is it just me, or did Ilia put down the idea of having it here? I wondered.
"No, it works better here," Navi shook her head. "We either do it here, or not at all."
"Fine," Ilia sighed.
"Okay, this could work," I said. "I'll ask Link about it during dinner."
Ilia perked up at the sound of Link's name. I could swear I saw the tiniest hint of her eyes flashing to a red color, but it was too quick. It was probably my imagination. "Speaking of which, I'm going to go find that hunk!" she proceeded to leave the room.
I followed her out quickly and stopped her, placing a hand on her arm. "Ilia are you okay? You're acting different?"
She shrugged me off. "I don't know what you're talking about," she snapped. "Stop bothering me!"
I sighed. "If you're going to go exploring, just don't go in the tower, that's Link's room and he doesn't want anyone in there," I warned her. In reality, I didn't want her to go near the mirror… or Link.
"Fine. Now leave me be," she huffed.
I shook my head as she walked off, heading back in my room. I saw Navi exploring the room, trying to occupy herself so it didn't seem like she had just eavesdropped. "Do you have any idea what was wrong with her?" I asked.
She jumped and spun around, something in her hands. "N-No idea," she said, startled. "Hey, what's this?"
In her hands was the Alchemist Magi book I had found in the library a few nights ago. I started reading it to learn more about myself. "Just something I'm reading," I dismissed it. "Now about Ilia, she was acting normal earlier today."
Navi set the book down. "I know, right. It started happening when she got here. I wonder what happened."
"Me too." An idea came to me. Was it possible something in the house was affecting her? What was going on?
Dinner had passed fairly quickly and smoothly. I had also gotten the okay from Link to do the haunted house. As it was time to leave, I said goodbye to Navi, but asked Ilia to hang back. She had no idea what was coming to her. She had no idea what I had grabbed from the medical cabinet in the bathroom and stashed in my pocket.
She joined me just outside the house. "What is it that you want?" she asked rudely.
I shrugged. "Not much. Just who are you really?"
Ilia squinted. "What are you talking about? I'm me, Ilia."
I slipped a hand into my pocket. "If you're Ilia, then who is your father and mother?"
"The Mayor of this town, Bo. And my mother is Angelica," she said, hesitating when it came to the mother.
I laughed and shook my head. "Wrong. Ilia's mother died when she was a little girl. Now, who are you?!" I demanded.
A demonic sounding voice came from Ilia's mouth. "Damn," it swore. "I didn't think you'd figure it out."
"That's okay," I said, pulling out the chloroform soaked rag from my pocket. "You won't have time to regret it!"
I lunged for the possessed Ilia and held the rag to her face. She struggled as I held her down. Her nails raked down my face and she was spouting off every swear word in the book. Finally, she passed out.
"Link!" I yelled.
Said butler came running. "Lady Raven! What is it?! What's- Good Lord! What did you do?!" he shouted, staring down at the unconscious girl.
I rolled my eyes. "She's fine. But I believe she's possessed. By what, I don't know."
Link bent down towards Ilia and started to sniff her. Honestly, it made me upset. I didn't want them near each other. Link suddenly backed up, his face curling up in discuss.
"You're right," he said, picking up Ilia. "Follow me."
Link led me around to the back of the house and to a couple of doors leading into the ground. The cellar. I hadn't been in there. "What's down there?" I asked.
"Cases of wine. And behind that, a secret room. We used it back in the day to cleanse our souls and those who became possessed occasionally. A lot of evil spirits roamed the earth back in my time," he answered, opening the door.
We made our way down the stairs and through the rows of wine. Link came to a wall and pressed on a brick. It slid in and the wall opened, revealing a hidden room. He continued down and then strapped Ilia down in a chair in the center of the room. He grabbed some chalk and started to draw what looked like a holy circle around the chair.
"Okay," he said. "Wake her up. And know that you'll have to do the banishing. You are the closest thing to an exorcist or a priestess here."
I nodded and walked to the unconscious girl. "Wake up," I ordered, smacking her in the face.
Ilia's eyes snapped open, and instead of the usual green, they were redder than blood. Ilia started shaking around in the chair, a long tongue darting out as she hissed. "The mirror!" she snarled. "Give me the mirror!"
I looked to Link and he nodded. "Who is your master?" he asked from outside the circle.
The demon Ilia laughed. "I'll never tell! Never, never, never, never!" she repeated over and over. "My master will come back and destroy you!"
Link motioned for me to come near him. "That's all the information we'll be able to extract," he said, walking to a bookshelf. He drew a book and flipped through the pages. Finding the one he wanted, he handed me the book a pointed to a few lines. "Recite them."
I began. "Devil spawned by Hell, you will no longer cast your wicked despair. I cast you out of this mortal's shell. Now, burn and may your power die as well," I spoke calmly, my right hand stretched outwards.
My arm lit up with an eerie blue glow, gold twisting around the blue. It seemed to make a spear as it pierced Ilia, ripping a swirling red mass from her body. The red mass formed a demonic face and hissed as it was contained. It then proceeded to burn in front of me, cursing me for all it was worth.
"Good job," Link awkwardly patted my shoulder, starting for Ilia to unfasten her from the chair.
I breathed in deeply, gathering what was left of my strength to ask my question. "Link, you know who did this don't you?"
He stopped his movements for a moment before continuing. "Zant," he said. "He is the one who did it all."
Another thought came to my mind and I began to ask my next question. "This is where he did it, wasn't it?"
Link breathed in deeply. "Yes. This is where he cursed Lady Midna and the manor. This is where he…" he broke off.
He didn't need to finish. I knew what he was going to say. Even though he technically didn't, this is where Link's life ended.
Ilia didn't wake up until the next morning. She didn't remember much. Only bits and pieces about the haunted house and Link… imagine that. It was actually her that was attracted to Link, not the demon?... devil?...whatever.
I told her that she had said she was too tired to walk home and asked to spend the night. I had told her father the same thing the night before. It's a good thing today was Saturday. Ilia joined us for breakfast, much to Link's dismay (he didn't really like how obsessed she was with him) before leaving.
As I was getting dressed later that morning, I was interrupted by a knock on my door. "One moment!" I called out. I finished getting dressed and opened the door and was met face to face with my brother. "Hey, bro," I greeted. "Are you sure you should be out of bed?"
He waved off my concern. "I'm fine. Link was right about that sped up healing. I feel great!"
I froze. "Wait. Link licked… he licked you?" I was definitely confused.
"What?!" Calum asked, disgusted. "Ugh, no! Werewolves have an already sped up healing without having their wounds licked!"
I breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh, thank goodness. So what did you want?"
Calum smiled at me. "I wanted to help fix up the place for the haunted house."
"Oh, that's great!" I exclaimed happily. "I was going to repair the cemetery anyway. I'll need to go get Link. I don't exactly know how to get there on my own."
"Okay," my brother nodded. "I'll meet you outside."
"Okay, see ya bro," I said, off to find the butler of the hour.
I eventually found Link and Dark out in the garden. "Hey, guys!" I called out. They looked up from pulling weeds and smiled. I jogged up to them. "Hey, I was wondering if you guys would help Calum and me fix up the cemetery."
The butlers looked at each other. "Sure," Dark shrugged.
"Of course we'll help, Lady Raven," Link smiled.
I returned the smile. "Good. Calum and I will be waiting out front."
Link shook his head. "No bother. We're done here. Let's go ahead and go." I nodded.
We all went out and met with Calum. Link began leading all of us towards the cemetery. It was actually pretty far out in the woods. The graves were in pretty poor condition and there was trash everywhere. I wondered who managed to find this place to litter it.
"Wow," Calum said calmly. "You weren't kidding when you said this place was in bad condition."
I nodded, determined. "Let's get started. After this, I still have to fix the stables." I immediately got to work picking up trash and putting it into bags. Link and Calum were lifting the more heavy objects around the place, like fallen tree trunks and rocks. Dark was fixing up some of the toppled graves. I looked around. "Maybe we should fix the fence up too."
"Hmm, maybe," Dark agreed. "It'd stop this from happening again."
As I began cleaning around a group of five graves, I felt the area get cold. I shivered as a sudden wind blew by. "Brr!" I said, rubbing my arms. "It got cold all of a sudden!" I saw my brother in front of me, pointing and spazzing out at something. "What's wrong with you?" I asked.
Sweat was pouring down his face as he trembled, pointing. "G-G-G-Gh-ah!" he sputtered.
I sighed and put my hands on my hips. "Calum, I don't know what G-G-G-Gh-ah means."
"Ghost!" he finally shouted, turning me around.
I looked up into the air and sure enough, there they were. Four Zora ghosts floated above me. One looked like an eel wearing headphones, another looked like a fat manta ray. The other three looked a little more like normal Zoras but one of them looked a little hippy-ish and the other had enough tattoos to cover most of his body. The last one, the only female in the group wore a purple wrap and a pair of blue sapphire earrings.
"Oh, sup," I said to them. They just kind of waved. I looked over to Link who was still picking up debris. "Hey, Link! Want to introduce me to your friends?!"
"Friends?" he said, looking up. "Oh, it's the Indigo-Go's. I haven't seen you guys for a few centuries. Where did you guys go to?"
The one with the eel features sighed. "Honestly, we're not sure."
"We were just chillin' one day and then bam! It was total blackness, man," the hippy Zora said, flipping his "hair."
Link looked perplexed. He grabbed his chin, thinking. "So you just ended up back here out of nowhere?"
The female Zora nodded. "That sounds about right," she said in a melodious voice. She turned to my brother and smiled, her fins flapping gently. "We're sorry about scaring you earlier."
Calum was still shaking, holding onto my shoulders. "That's okay. Y-You didn't scare me that bad," he bluffed.
I didn't say anything when I saw Dark sneaking up behind him. "Rah!" he bellowed.
My brother shrieked like a little girl, and jumped high into the air, latching onto an overhanging branch. "T-That wasn't funny, Dark!"
Dark was hunched over, laughing. "I don't know! It sure was funny to me!" he snickered.
I sighed and looked up to my brother. "Calum, you're learning how to wolf up, not chicken up."
"Shut up!"
Link was laughing as well. "Well, I suppose I should introduce all of you," he said. Pointing to the Zoras, he began. "These are the Indigo-Go's. The eely looking guy is Evan, the band leader. He's a bit of a stick in the mud."
"Am not!" Evan protested.
Link continued. "Manta ray over there can play the drums like no one else. He's Tijo."
"It's nice to meet you," Tijo replied, nodding.
"This guy is Japas. He plays a mean bass guitar even though he can't see through all that hair."
So it is supposed to be hair, I thought to myself.
"It's cool meetn' ya's," Japas said, flipping his hair again.
Link shook his head. "The King of Guitar is this guy, Mikau. He also holds the record for most tattoos, tribal or not. Sometimes he gets so tongue tied, he has to talk in songs to get his words out."
Mikau waved. "It's nice to meet you, guys, yeah?" We all nodded in return.
"And this lovely Zora here has the voice of an angel. This is Lulu," Link said, introducing the last Zora.
Lulu smiled brightly at all of us. "It's a pleasure to meet you all. I hope we can become good friends."
Link smiled and began introducing us. "You guys know Dark. Well this is the new mistress of the manor, Lady Raven and her brother Calum. They've been good friends to me."
They all said hi and shook hands…err fins with us. I suddenly had an idea. "How would you guys like to help with our haunted house?"
That's the end and possibly one of the longest chapters I wrote.
So I lied, you met five people instead of one. I didn't plan it, but it happened. Anyway, a few new people will be introduced in the next chapter.
Dark: More people?
Yup, and it will be the last few people too. The time to save Midna is nearly upon us.
Link: Good.
... Well, please, rate and review.
