Chapter 10
Defeat
Chapter 10! I've been pretty excited for this one ever since I came up with the idea for it. Hope you enjoy. I'm sooo sorry it took me this long to get it up! I've been insanely busy lately and haven't had much time.
After the battle at the prison I knew that things were beginning to turn in our favor. Jetfire had been captured and most of his men had been killed in the battle. It was time for us to take a strike back at the Autobots after we had defeated them again and this time taking one of their highest-ranking members hostage. It actually felt good to be facing Optimus Prime in battle again and I looked forward to let Thrasher loose on his troops. To my surprise, Thrasher seemed just as motivated as I was to go through with an attack on the Autobots in Iacon. Although this amused me at first I soon became worried about Thrasher's impression of Optimus Prime. He greatly underestimated him; and if there's one Autobot that shouldn't be underestimated it is Optimus Prime.
Our arrival in Iacon couldn't have gone worse. Starscream was a nervous wreck, Demolisher had completely lost his mind, and Thrasher was hell-bent on destroying Prime. The rest of my men seemed to be put off by the expressions of their fellow Decepticons as well. Victorious or not I knew this battle in Iacon would come at great cost. Nonetheless, I lead the Decepticons into the city, blasting away anything that came in our way. At the bare minimum I owed the Autobots this damage on their city after what they had done to Kaon.
It was not long after we entered the city that we were completely swarmed by Autobots. These Autobots were a great deal stronger than any bots that most of the Decepticons accompanying me had ever seen. These were the soldiers of Optimus Prime, and judging by the number of Autobot soldiers present, I knew it wouldn't be long until he showed his masked face. There was smoke and gunfire everywhere, and Decepticons and Autobots alike running about. Starscream was fearfully standing behind cover, Demolisher off Blasting away at Primus knows what, and Thrasher was nowhere to be seen.
That's when he arrived. With his face hidden beneath a scratched battle mask and his blue optics scanning the battlefield, Optimus Prime emerged from the smoke with a smoking blaster in his hands.
"You're making a grave mistake coming here Megatron. Leave now or suffer the consequences."
I laughed "Now Prime, why would I pass up the perfect chance to destroy you on your own turf!?"
Just when our fight was about to begin I noticed a yellow bot charge at Prime from behind, colliding with him and knocking him to the ground. Thrasher! Prime easily threw the Decepticon off him and sent him flying into the wall of a building to the left of him. I knew that wouldn't be enough to finish Thrasher, and since he wanted a battle with Prime so badly, I decided I would allow him to satisfy his desire.
Thrasher leaped to his feet and charged at Prime once more. When Prime knocked him to the ground again he activated his foot saws and vigorously swung his legs at him. The Autobot leader grabbed his ankle and crushed one of the saws with his bare hand, swung him around by his leg and launched him off to the right. Thrasher collided with a wall again, but still would not give in. He this time activated his flamethrowers sending the fire directly at Prime. The Autobot leader jolted up into the air and shot Thrasher directly in the chest with his blaster. Thrasher stumbled back slightly and Prime's foot came sailing down, pounding against his chest. Thrasher cried out and fell to the ground once more. When he got back up again, he hit Prime with a plasma bolt from his cannon. Prime nearly fell backwards but was able to regain his balance and send his forearm directly into Thrasher's faceplate, kick him in the chest again, and slice off Thrasher's cannon with his battle axe. At this point, even I was surprised when Thrasher climbed to his feet once more and faced Prime. He jumped at Prime hoping to tackle him, but was knocked down once more by the Autobot leader's forearm. Thrasher's broken body hit the ground harder than before. And Prime was hardly even dented.
Prime had turned to face me when he heard the sound of a haggard voice.
"F-finish me Primeeā¦"
Prime turned his head to see Thrasher with one Optic.
"You've got spirit hotshot, and especially for a Decepticon. That's not something you should throw away over a simple defeat."
There was no further interaction between the two of them.
We lost the battle in Iacon and I was forced to call a retreat. Although it is unknown to the other Decepticons I was the one who carried Thrasher's broken body to the medical transport. He had to be taken into intensive care the instant he got to the medical bay of the Decepticon headquarters. I was later informed that his body was fixable, but he was still at risk of death. After being defeated by Prime, it seemed he had lost the will to live. And because of that he fell into a deep depression. Even after his body had been fully repaired his spirits were completely decimated.
This confused me; most Decepticons would have just become angry and be blowing off steam. Wanting another chance to strike at Prime. But I then reminded myself of Thrasher's background. The Swarmers never spared any opponent, and they expected the same if defeated. Myself and the other Decepticons did not hesitate to kill off those who we defeated, but the Autobots did not partake in this practice. A belief that typically angered most Decepticons completely bewildered Thrasher, and left with only one thought in is head.
I should be dead.
