Unexpected
Chapter 9
'February'
Gone: 24 Weeks
Jamie was half asleep when she suddenly sensed Spock through their bond. She'd attempted numerous times to get a reading on him. She had hoped to use that to speak with him. Maybe through that she could have told him she was pregnant but she couldn't. The bond wasn't that strong though was stronger than the average bond.
Spock felt restless, irritated, and maybe even angry.
"Oh, Spock," she muttered, wondering what was wrong with her husband. She wished she could be there to help him. Instead she was light years away, unable to speak with him.
Focusing on the bond she, once again, tried to reach him. Instead of getting the root cause she felt a migraine begin to form. It caused her to sigh. Jamie took her copper pills – not taking a regular hypo since she didn't like them. Besides, the placement of the copper hypos was right at a nerve in the neck which hurt. You hit anywhere else on the neck and hypos tickled but that nerve always hurt. Besides that, modern pills were made to dissolve unlike pills of the past which used to eat at stomach lining.
She laid down, closing her eyes. She felt her son's mind was also relaxing to sleep. However, her daughter continues to move throughout the night, waking her up every time she fell asleep. She sighed, wondering why she had to be pregnant with a daughter that was active as she was.
~UNEXPECTED~
"I am going to Starfleet father," Spock told his father, Ambassador Sarek, as he gathered his bags. "I will not remain where I'm a disadvantage."
"Spock. Do not let your emotions lead you in your decision," his father told him. "You made a decision to join the Vulcan Academy. Do not let your human emotions lead you to make another mistake as it has already done."
"Another mistake?" Spock heard his mother ask. She was angry and wasn't hiding her emotions. "You mean marrying Tibby don't you."
"Amanda…" his father began but she looked at Spock. It said 'go upstairs' so that's what he did. He heard arguing but he meditated for hours. Eventually he opened his eyes as his mother walked into the room. She was obviously angry.
"Your father… ugh. Sometimes he's as stuck up and backwards as the other Vulcans here," his mother ranted. She continued speaking but he didn't hear most of it. Then she sat next to him. "Find your wife when you can go to earth."
"I will… but I think she'd want me to get my education," he admitted. "But I will try to contact her."
"Good," she said with a smile. Then she touched his shoulder before standing. "You also have to call me regularly. I'm going to really miss you Spock."
"I believe I will miss you too," he told her and she smiled. Then she left. He sighed before meditating again. He was still angry but he knew he would be more accepted on earth. That in mind he let everything else melt away.
