Heya guys! Have I mentioned how much I love you? Because you are all freaking amazing! I still can't believe how many people are following this story and it makes me so happy to read all of your reviews, thank you all so much for taking the time to write them! You're all seriously the best people ever and if it weren't for all your support I probably would have given up on writing this months ago!
Once again I'm sorry for making you wait an excruciatingly long time for this, but you guys can blame work, because it's there fault I haven't been given much time to write these past few weeks...but the good news is that Christmas is over and that means my workload will lessen and I should be able to write more regularly! YAY!
A few people wanted more of Jackson's POV so I've tried to make this chapter mostly about him, but there's some April in there too...hopefully you like it and if you could let me know what you think by reviewing I'd really appreciate it!
this chapter is rated M for a reason ;) ENJOY!
Chapter 10: God Damn You're Beautiful
Cause I get weak in the knees,
Fall head over heels baby,
And every other cheesy cliche'.
Yes I'm swept off my feet,
Oh my heart skips a beat
and there's really only one thing to say...
April only slept for a few hours before she woke up again. Jackson was spooning her, his body wrapped around hers and their legs intertwined under the covers. A soft sigh fell from her lips as April pried her eyes open. She flushed at the feel of Jackson pressed against her back, the feel of his hand resting between her breasts, his face nestled into the back of her neck. She thought about the amazing sex they'd shared a few hours earlier, her heart racing at the memory. Her body came alive with a sudden wave of desire that rippled down her spine and settled between her thighs. April was barely even awake and already she was ready to go again, a thought that surprised her.
She wondered if she would ever get enough of this man, ever stop craving him so desperately. It had only been a few hours since he'd last been inside of her and already her body ached for him again, throbbed for him.
Deciding that she wasn't going to go back to sleep while she was this worked up, April gently climbed out of the bed and quietly padded over to her suitcase. She found a nightgown and slipped it on before letting herself out of the room, gently closing the door behind her.
It was the middle of the night and the house was dark and silent. The floorboards squeaked beneath April's feet as she tiptoed downstairs and into the dimly lit kitchen. She decided to make herself some hot chocolate, hoping that the hot drink might help her to sleep. Grabbing a saucepan from the cupboard, she placed it on the stove and went to get some milk from the fridge.
"What are you doing?"
His voice was startling, causing April to jump in surprise, almost dropping the carton of milk all over the floor. She spun around, her eyes widening at the sight of Jackson standing in the kitchen. There was a hint of a smile on his face as he watched her, leaning his weight against the breakfast bar behind him.
"You scared me," she murmured, inhaling a deep breath and trying to calm her racing heart. She quickly averted her gaze, her cheeks burning at the sight of Jackson standing in front of her, wearing nothing but a pair of sleep pants, which seemed to be hanging dangerously low on his hips.
"Sorry," he chuckled, watching as April went to pour some milk into the saucepan. "I didn't mean to frighten you."
"I'm making hot chocolate," she murmured. "Would you like some?"
Jackson watched her move about the kitchen, thinking how much he enjoyed the view. She had on the same nightgown she'd been wearing the first night they stayed at the farm, the really short, really indecent one.
"Yeah," he replied, clearing his throat. "A hot chocolate sounds great."
They were silent while she made their drinks. Jackson took a seat at the breakfast bar, watching April in silence. Her dark red hair hung in messy curls around her face. Her skin was flushed and the nightgown did nothing to hide the fact that she wasn't wearing a bra. Jackson's stomach clenched as he watched her, his cock standing at attention. He wondered if he'd ever get enough of this woman, if his hunger for her would ever really be sated. He couldn't believe the effect she had over him, how desperate his body craved for hers. He was like a fucking teenager all over again, his infatuation with her was almost embarrassing.
The thought of going back to Seattle was unsettling. He wasn't ready to share April with anyone else, wasn't ready to leave here and face the real world. The past few days in Moline had been better than Jackson had ever expected them to be. He'd gotten to know April on a much deeper level and a part of him couldn't help but worry about what might happen when they went home, when they went back to their normal lives.
He wasn't ready for all their friends and co-workers back in Seattle to find out what had happened between him and April while they'd been gone. He didn't want to hear Karev's teasing comments or listen to Yang and Grey give him shit for sleeping with April. He knew what everyone would say, knew that they'd tease him for sleeping with her and taking her virginity. Truthfully, Jackson didn't care what anyone thought, their opinion didn't mean anything to him. He was more worried about April, about what their teasing might do to her. Would she start having second thoughts about sleeping with him? Would she regret what happened between them?
"Cinnamon?" April's quiet voice pulled him from his thoughts.
"Huh?" His gaze flicked up to meet hers, his brow knitted together in deep thought. He quickly cleared his throat and tried to shake himself from his silent musings.
She smiled at him, one of her radiant smiles that made her eyes twinkle with amusement. "Would you like cinnamon with your hot chocolate?" she repeated.
He breathed out a chuckle and nodded. "Sounds good."
It didn't take her long to finish making their drinks. After packing everything away, April came to sit next to him at the breakfast bar, placing his mug of chocolate in front of him. Jackson thanked her and watched as April took a sip from her drink, her hands wrapping around the cup and her eyes closing as she brought the mug to her lips.
He watched her for a moment before pulling his eyes away and taking a drink. The hot chocolate was heavenly and he couldn't control the groan that sounded from his lips when he tasted it. "Wow," he murmured, licking his lips. "This is amazing."
April smiled, looking down at her mug. "It's the cinnamon," she told him. "My mom used to make it like this for me when I was a kid."
They fell into a comfortable silence. Jackson smiled to himself, enjoying April's company. He was relieved that even after sleeping together there didn't seem to be any awkwardness between them, they were still the same best friends they'd always been.
But then April moved beside him, her arm brushing against his. He felt her stiffen at their touch and he turned to look at her, watching as she pulled her bottom lip between her teeth, her gaze slowly lifting to meet his. The atmosphere between them instantly changed and he could see the desire behind her eyes, see the redness forming in her cheeks.
She quickly pulled her eyes away and he smiled at the way her skin flushed in response. "What's wrong with me?" she groaned, talking mostly to herself.
Jackson smiled. "What are you talking about?" he asked, nudging her shoulder with his. "There's nothing wrong with you."
She didn't make eye contact with him, her grip on her mug tightening as she fidgeted uncomfortably in her seat. "I can't stop thinking about you," she breathed, her blush darkening. "I-I can't even look at you without..." she drifted off, her voice breaking as she bit down even harder on her bottom lip.
All the air escaped his lungs, his gut clenching with want. He found it almost impossible to control himself when she talked to him like that. God, she was so innocent and unsure of herself and she really had no idea how much he ached for her, how desperately he wanted her.
"Without what?" he prodded, his voice barely even a whisper.
He watched her gulp, watched her slowly turn her head towards him, her eyes still refusing to meet his. "Without wanting to touch you," she confessed, running her tongue over her dry lips. "Without wanting to kiss you." Finally, she looked at him again, her bright eyes suddenly dark, almost black.
There was a moment between them before he fisted his hand in her hair, before he pulled her face to his and kissed her hard, before he grabbed hold of her waist and lifted her onto the bench, his mouth locked with hers as he stepped between her parted legs, her hands gripping onto his back, her mouth eagerly responding to his.
He was consumed by her completely, his entire body engulfed with the need to be closer to her, to feel every inch of her. There was this heaviness in his chest, a feeling he couldn't explain, a feeling he'd never felt before.
"Jackson," she murmured into his mouth, her hands moving up his back, her fingers pressing into his neck.
"Yeah?" he responded, smiling at the way her legs tightened around him. One hand tangled in her hair while the other moved down over her waist and settled on her thigh, running across her smooth, soft skin and playing with the hem of her nightgown.
"W-we should stop," she groaned, between kisses. "Before someone...sees us like this."
"It's the middle of the night," he reminded her, smiling as his hand slipped under the hem of her dress and slowly slid up the outside of her leg, dragging her nightgown further up her thighs. "Everyone's asleep."
April sucked in a breath as she ran her hands over his front, tracing the lines of his abdomen and causing him to shudder in response. She still found it hard to believe that she was actually doing this with Jackson, the Jackson Avery. The same man she'd befriended during her intern year. The same man who'd comforted her after their friends were killed. The same man who'd always been there for her, looked after her. It was almost impossible to believe that this was really happening, that it was his hands touching her, his lips pressing against hers. Jackson was one of the most good looking men she'd ever set eyes on, he could have any woman he wanted and in that moment it seemed as though he wanted her as desperately as she wanted him.
His mouth went to her neck, sucking lazily on her already flushed skin. She bit down on her lip, suppressing a moan as her nails scraped across his skin, enjoying the way his muscles tensed under her touch, the way his grip on her tightened. He turned his head back to hers and they shared a breath as his hand moved between her legs. He groaned, a noise that sounded almost painful, when he realized she wasn't wearing any underwear.
"Jesus, April," he growled, inhaling a shaky breath and leaning his forehead against hers.
She sighed at the feel of his hand between her thighs, at the feel of him pressing against her. She closed her eyes, inhaling a sharp breath and moving her hands up to grab hold of his shoulders. "Jackson," she whispered, her hips lifting off the counter, silently urging him to keep going.
Jackson's thumb brushed over her clit, causing April to gasp, her head falling into the crock of his neck. He exhaled sharply as he ran his thumb over her slit. He murmured April's name, urging her to look at him, his eyes filled with lust as his mouth landed over hers, swallowing the moan that sounded from her lips.
His mouth remained locked with hers as his fingers dipped between her folds, his thumb pressing a little harder against her sensitive nerves. She was already wet for him and April pulled back from the kiss, tugging Jackson's bottom lip between her teeth as her eyes opened to meet his. Her breath caught in her throat when she looked up at him, noticing how dark his eyes were, taking in the way his nostrils flared, the way his muscles flexed under her touch.
He curled his fingers, hitting a new angle inside of her and April couldn't control the loud, guttural sound that slipped from her lips. He stepped closer to her, a lazy smile on his face when he leaned down to kiss the skin below her ear. "You gotta keep quiet, baby," he reminded her, nuzzling her neck. The way he called her baby made her stomach clench tighter, her inner muscles tensing around his fingers as she closed her eyes, pressing her face into his shoulder to help muffle her strained, desperate moans.
Her hands went to his chest, her nails scraping over his skin and causing his muscles to tighten in response. He murmured her name in her ear, pressing his thumb even harder against her and applying just the right amount of pressure. His free hand went to her face and she shivered as he gently caressed her cheek, tucking her hair back behind her ear before tilting her chin back so he could kiss her again.
She came only a few seconds later, her legs tightening around his, her hands clamping onto the back of his head as her inner muscles fluttered around his fingers. Jackson's mouth swallowed her moans, his tongue brushing lazily against hers, his hand caressing affectionately against the side of her face.
She slumped against him, her legs falling limp at his sides, her head resting against his bare chest. Her eyes closed and she took a moment to enjoy the feel of Jackson holding her and rubbing her back as he murmured soothing words in her ear. She licked her lips, thinking how good this felt, how amazing Jackson was. Being with him like this felt right and April couldn't control the tears that prickled behind her eyes at the thought of this ending between them in a few days, at the thought of going home and pretending their time in Moline had never even happened.
"Hey," he whispered her name, hooking a finger under her chin and lifting her face to look at him. "You okay?"
She smiled and nodded, wiping the stray tears off her cheek. "I'm great," she replied, her fingers playing with the fine hairs on the back of his neck. A smile lit up his face as he leaned down to kiss her, this kiss much softer and sweeter than the others they'd shared, making her heart leap in response.
April pulled away, smiling up at him and wrapping her arms around his neck. "I-I think I'm ready to go back to bed," she whispered, her eyes dark with lust as she looked up at him from under her lashes.
He smiled, dipping his head to kiss her again. April gasped when he lifted her off the bench, her legs instinctively wrapping around his waist as he carried her effortlessly out of the kitchen.
. . . .
"I can't wear these!" April argued, her cheeks burning as she looked at the bright red panties her sisters had forced her to buy. "They're way too small! There's no way they'd even fit me!"
Alice laughed, her back turned to April as she sat at her mirror, concentrating on applying her mascara. "It's a G-string," she pointed out. "It's supposed to be small."
April held the small scrap of lacy fabric up in front of her, holding it on the end of her finger so she could study it better. "It looks uncomfortable," she muttered, turning her nose up in distaste.
"They're not made to be comfortable," Kimmie said, walking into the room and joining the conversation. Kimmie was halfway through straightening her hair as she sat down next to Alice at the mirror. "But Jackson is going to love it," she added, winking at April.
April blushed crimson, looking away from her sisters and dropping the underwear on the bed next to her. She wasn't used to wearing underwear to impress a guy, she'd never had to before, and the idea of wearing them for Jackson made her flush. She looked down at the bright red underwear, biting her lip and trying to ignore the way her cheeks burned.
She had to admit that a part of her kinda liked the idea of Jackson seeing her in something sexy, something completely un-April like. A thrill ripped through her at the idea of Jackson seeing her in them, at the thought of him undressing her later. She bit into her lip, her heart racing at the thought.
"Aren't you going to get ready?" Alice asked, spinning around to look at her sister. "The party starts in an hour."
April sighed and got to her feet, grabbing her things off of Alice's bed and excusing herself to go and get ready in her room. Jackson was still outside with her dad, helping him and Jeremy get the barn ready for the party tonight. April had barely seen him since she'd woken up that morning, her father had been keeping him busy all afternoon.
April's stomach fluttered when she thought about Jackson, thought about their midnight make out session in the kitchen. She couldn't believe she'd actually made out with him like that, like two horny teenagers who couldn't keep their hands off of each other. Which was surprisingly accurate, since April couldn't seem to stop herself from throwing herself at him every chance she got.
. . . .
"Can I ask you a question?" Jeremy murmured, taking a sip from his beer.
Jackson nodded, turning to look at Libby's husband. "What's up?"
Jackson and Jeremy were sitting on the back porch, nursing a bottle of beer. They'd spent the entire day helping Joe set the barn up for the party tonight. Libby had forced Jeremy into leaving the hospital for a few hours and coming to help, since she wasn't going be able to make it herself. The barn looked incredible, like something out of a fairytale. Thousands of fairy lights hung throughout the huge barn and in the trees outside. Joe had set up a small stage for the band to play and there was even a bar and a dance floor. Jackson was surprised by how much effort April's parents had put into planning this event.
Jeremy cleared his throat, straightening his shoulders and turning to look at Jackson. "April's a good girl," he started, voice level. "She deserves to be happy."
Jackson stiffened, nodding in agreement. "Yeah," he agreed, clearing his throat. "She's amazing." He already knew where this conversation was going and he couldn't help but move uncomfortably in his seat, fighting the sudden urge to flee. The air between Jackson and Jeremy seemed to change almost instantly, a tension forming between them.
Jeremy looked away, leaning forward in his chair. "She's like a sister to me," he went on. "And I hate the thought of anyone hurting her."
Jackson swallowed, nodding in agreement. "I feel the same way," he replied, awkwardly. "I would never hurt her."
Jeremy turned his head, meeting Jackson's eyes. "Not intentionally," he said. "Look, I know you're a good guy and I know you care about her a lot, I can see that." Jackson watched as the other man took a drink from his beer, relaxing back in his seat. "But April's been through a lot and she's not as strong as she makes out to be."
"I know," Jackson murmured, looking down at his hands.
"What are your intentions with her?"
And that was the million dollar question. "Truthfully?" Jackson asked, leaning back in his seat, eyes still downcast. "I don't know," he confessed, choosing his words carefully. "I care about April – I care about her a lot. She's my best friend and I never thought I'd fall for her like this."
"But you did," Jeremy commented, cocking a brow.
Jackson sighed loudly, nodding his head. "Yeah," he agreed. "I did." There was a few seconds of silence between them before Jackson continued, voice quiet. "I never thought it could be like this," he commented. "I never thought April would ever want to be with someone like me."
Jeremy smiled, looking over at the handsome surgeon. "I know what you mean," he chuckled. "I wake up next to Libby every morning and I still have to pinch myself to make sure she's not a dream."
Jackson smiled and was thoughtful for a moment. "I would never hurt April," he breathed. "April means...she means everything to me...especially now."
"Do you see a future with her?" Jeremy asked, studying the plastic surgeon.
"I can't imagine one without her." And that was the truth. Jackson and April had been through a lot together, more than most people, and she had always been there for him. The thought of never having April in his life was almost painful, he couldn't bare the idea of not seeing her face every day, not seeing her beautiful smile or watch the way her eyes lit up when she talked about the things she was most passionate about. He couldn't bare the thought of not seeing her at work, the thought of not glimpsing her when he walked down the corridors at the hospital, when they ate lunch together in the cafeteria. She was a major constant in his life, her presence helped to anchor him down, helped to keep him focused and determined.
But now, after spending the last few days with her in Moline, everything had changed between them, his feelings had changed and he found himself craving to be more than just her friend, the guy she knew from Mercy West. The thought of going back to being friends again was unnerving and Jackson's stomach twisted at the thought of never touching her again, the thought of never feeling her body pressed against his, feeling her bare hands against his naked skin. In less than a week Jackson had managed to slide so easily into the role as April's "pretend boyfriend" and he was shocked by how much he liked it there.
"April's lucky to have you," Jeremy said, his words pulling Jackson from his deep thoughts. "You're a good guy, Avery." Jeremy flashed him a smile, placing a friendly hand on the plastic surgeon's shoulder. "But just remember if you ever hurt that girl, you're gonna have me to deal with."
. . . .
April stood at the mirror in Alice's room, a shocked expression on her face as she looked at her reflection in the glass. April was wearing the red dress and the heels and Kimmie had curled and styled her hair so it was in a pretty up-do, showing off her bare neck. She'd applied a little make-up, just a hint of mascara and some dark red lipstick and even April had to admit that she looked good.
"You look stunning," Alice commented, standing next to April, wearing a proud smile on her face. "I told you those heels would look amazing with that dress."
April smiled and moved uncomfortably. She'd only been wearing the panties for a short while and already she wanted to take them off. How did people wear these things all the time?
"Stop fidgeting," Kimmie scolded. "You're gonna get creases in the dress."
April huffed, rolling her eyes at her younger sisters. "It's the underwear," she mumbled. "They're itchy."
"You'll get used to them," Alice assured her.
Kimmie clapped her hands excitedly and quickly went over to get her phone from off the bed. "We need to get a photo for Libby!" she squealed. "So she can see how amazing we all look."
"It sucks that she can't be here tonight," April pointed out, feeling bad for her older sister.
"Yeah, which is why we need to make sure we take plenty of pictures for her." Kimmie quickly instructed April and Alice to stand beside her so they could take a selfie.
"Do you want me to take it?" the voice sounded from behind.
All three girls spun around at the same time, their eyes widening at the sight of Jackson standing in the doorway. He was wearing a tux and to say that he looked good would have been an understatement. The suit hugged his body perfectly and April couldn't help gulp at the view of him standing there, looking like a male model straight out of a magazine. She bit her lip, letting her gaze trail over his perfect form.
Jackson hadn't prepared himself for the sight of April as she turned around to face him. She was wearing a firm fitting red dress and heels that made her legs look like they went for miles. His throat went dry and he licked his lips, his eyes darkening as he looked her up and down. The dress was short, shorter than anything April normally wore. It was tight, showing off each and every one of her perfect curves. Jackson suppressed a groan, wondering how on earth he was supposed to control himself all night when she wore something like that.
Alice and Kimmie were watching them, an amused expression on their face as they took in the way April and Jackson were looking at each other. Alice sighed, rolling her eyes and clearing her throat to try and get the couples attention.
"Excuse me?" she snapped, looking between Jackson and April. "If you two can finish eye fucking each other, maybe you can take our picture now?"
April blushed, quickly looking away from Jackson and suppressing the urge to smack her annoying sister. She went to stand between Kimmie and Alice, plastering a smile on her face as Jackson took their photo.
He snapped a few pictures before handing Kimmie back her phone, clearing his throat. "You all look beautiful," he told them, a soft smile on his pretty face.
"And you look like every woman's walking wet dream," Alice replied, grinning at the plastic surgeon.
April sighed, rolling her eyes at her sisters comment. "We should probably go downstairs," she said, changing the subject. "Before the guests start arriving."
Alice and Kimmie gave themselves one last look over in the mirror before making their way out of the room. April went to follow them, but was stopped by Jackson, his hand wrapping around her arm and gently tugging her back towards him.
His eyes were a shade darker as he gazed down at her, his breath hot against her skin. "That color looks good on you." There was a twinkle in his eyes when he said that and April couldn't help but blush. Part of the reason why she'd picked this dress was because she knew red was Jackson's favorite color.
She smiled, reaching out to straighten the blue bow tie around his neck. "You should see what's underneath," she purred, feeling a rush of confidence rush through her.
Jackson's eyes widened, his hands going to her hips and tugging her closer to him. "How am I supposed to keep my hands off of you when you say things like that?" he asked, voice low and husky in her ear.
Alice appeared in the doorway, her hands on her hips. "No!" she scolded, pointing a finger at Jackson. "That dress stays on her until after the party." The younger Kepner gave Jackson a look before going over to take hold of April's arm, tugging her older sister towards the door. "Sorry, Mister, but you're just gonna have to keep Jackson junior in your pants until the the party's finished."
A review would be very much appreciated! :)
