Wolf: I really do apologize to all my readers for not updating as much as would want to this summer, but I've been so busy at work that I never have time to do anything. I've been trying to write and type up my chapter's every time I get a day off. So without further ado, finally, chapter 10!

Chapter 10: A Bad Turn

Yugi was reaching his fifth month of his pregnancy. Yugi was very excited, he couldn't wait to finally meet the baby. To see what he has been carrying all this time and to finally enter parenthood. He loved his baby, no matter.

Yami was a different story. He was not as excited as Yugi was for the baby to come into the world. Yami was more worried and scared than anything else. Worried for Yugi's safety in all this and that it might turn for the worst. Now there was the part of Yami that was hoping for the best of things and that he could finally meet his baby as well.

Miko, sadly, couldn't tell anymore about the baby after last month because the womb had become to think and too strong to see anything. Miko had told Yugi and Yami on their last visit that there's a possibility a regular scalpel will not cut open the womb, but she had a scalpel specially made out of a vampire fang that will be more then strong enough. That was one problem out of the way.

Yugi had been sick even more through this last month, even more then when he did start feeling sick two months ago. He was throwing up more and it was all blood. Yugi started to feel a bit weak and tired. Last few days he had been sleeping all the morning into the afternoon. Since Yugi is a morning person, it's difficult for Yami to believe he is alright. Yami questioned him about it, but Yugi always tells him that it is just part of being pregnant that makes you tired. Yugi, as well at Yami, started to notice how pale he was compared to normal. Yugi knew it was from him throwing up and losing so much blood, but there is not much he can do about it. The kicks Yugi received from the baby started to be a little harder, but that was very now and then. Plus Yugi was happy about it because it showed how much stronger the baby had become.

Yami was just getting up in the morning. He sat up in bed and stretched a bit. He looked down at Yuig, who was still sound asleep. Yami leaned down and kissed Yugi's forehead. Yami noticed how heavily Yugi was breathing than normal. Yami placed a hand on Yugi's swollen stomach.

"I wish you weren't doing this to him. I want to try and learn to love you, but it is hard when you are doing so much damage to my love. This is all my fault." Yami thought sadly.

Yami has been noticing that Yugi has become a bit more tired than he has been. Even though Yugi says it is part of being pregnant, Yami knew the truth. The baby was starting to take its toll on him. Yami didn't want to believe it was happening, but just looking at Yugi, he could see that it was. He noticed Yugi's tiredness, how pale he started to become, how weak he was when he couldn't even get out of bed and he could smell the hint of blood from Yugi's breath and inside the bathroom almost every day.

Yami had to finally admit that it was time for a visit to see Miko and finally fix this problem. Plus to get the guild off his shoulders for doing this to his poor Aibou.

Yami got up out of bed and headed out into the hall. The last month they have been getting stuff for the house and unpacking. Yugi had been keeping the room across from theirs a secret though. It was a bedroom, but Yami never looked inside to see what Yugi was planning to do with the room.

"Hopefully Yugi won't get up for another hour or so. I want to see what he is doing in this room." Yami thought, not trying to talk so he didn't wake Yugi.

Yami walked up to the white door and opened it. He walked into the room slowly and flicked on the light. He was completely surprised of what he saw in the room.

It was a nursery.

The walls were white with a little mural on the far wall with a lion head. A crib sat in the far right corner near a window, a changing table was against the far wall under the lion head, a rocking chair sat in the back left corner. There was also a container full of toys in the front left corner and a dresser sat against the wall by the door and it had some clothes on top of it.

Yami walked fully into the room and was trying to take in what he was seeing. He didn't know what to feel about the room. Happy? Sad? Confused? He didn't know. Although he was happy that Yugi did such a nice thing for the baby, the room was so cute. He was also a bit sad, because he didn't know if there was going to be any happy memories in this room.

Yami didn't know how long he was in there, but he then had the feeling that someone was watching him. He turned around to see Yugi awake and leaning heaving on the door frame.

"You like it?" Yugi asked, "I wanted to keep it a surprise till the baby came, but I knew your curiosity would get to you."

Yami was speechless, he didn't know what to say.

"I…I don't know how I should feel about all this." Yami said.

Yugi pushed himself off the door frame and wobbled over to Yami. He put his arms around Yami's waist.

"Don't you think you should be a little happy?" Yugi told him.

"I mean, I am, but still…" Yami took a pause.

"Oh, Yami. I know I look bad and all, but in a couple of days or so I will be as healthy as a horse and will be able to care for the baby." Yugi reassured him.

Yami just stood there and thought. Trying to not let his emotions get the better of him. He sighed and put his arms around Yugi's shoulders.

"Yugi, I know you are sick and I know you're getting worse. The baby is starting to affect you really badly." Yami told him with worry in his voice.

"How did you figure it out?" Yugi wondered in surprise.

"Well one, I'm not that stupid and I can see how pale and weak you are. Two, I am a vampire and I can smell the blood." Yami pointed out to him.

Yugi looked away in embarrassment and stupidity, "I knew I couldn't hide it very well from you."

"Yugi, do you want to go to the mansion and see Miko? It might get even worse than it is already."

Yugi shook his head, "No, I'm alright. Unless I think it's necessary to go, I will tell you right away."

Yami had a worried look, "Alright Yugi, I'll take your word for it. If it get to out of hand anymore then I'm taking you no matter what you say." Yami said.

Yugi nodded, "Fair enough. Now go downstairs and go start making something to eat. I have to use the bathroom and get a shower."

"Ok Yugi, if you need anything just call me."

"I will."

Yami gave Yugi a quick kiss on the lips and headed downstairs.

Yugi managed to wobble over to the door, turn the light off and close the door. Using the wall for support, Yugi walked towards the bathroom. He left the door ajar and went over to the sink.

Yugi felt a little dizzy so he held onto the sink countertop for balance. That's when he started to feel like throwing up. He managed to kneel down by the toilet, without hurting himself. As soon as his knees hit the floor he threw up, again it was more blood.

It didn't last long today, but it left Yugi even dizzier then he already was. He sat back and his back was up against the shower door. He took some deep breaths to see if the dizziness went away. Then the baby gave him a sharp kick to his side.

"Ow. You're not helping me right now by doing that." Yugi panted.

Then response to that was a hard kick upright against his ribs. That one did hurt and left Yugi a little winded.

Gasping a little bit, Yugi tried to stay calm, "Now why are you being so mean today?" Yugi wondered.

He started to rub his stomach a little bit. Yugi then felt a tiny push against his hand. Yugi took that as an apology and just smiled.

"I bet it's uncomfortable in there. You have grown so much and made me swell up like a balloon." Yugi chuckled as he looked down to his stomach. "I can't wait to finally meet you. To hold you in my arms and make you smile."

Yugi waited a couple more seconds on the floor, rubbing his large stomach so that his pain would go away a little. When Yugi thought it was ok and he didn't feel as dizzy, he slowly started to stand up.

As soon as he got to his feet he got his balance, but then started to go into a fit of coughing. This caused him to cough up blood and was soon standing over the toilet throwing up blood again. Yugi tried to catch his breath, but it just made him cough more. The dizziness returned stronger and his loss of blood and not feeling well, he was getting weaker then he already was.

To make matter worse, the baby gave him a hard kick to the back and Yugi fell to his knees. His breath was stuck in his throat for a moment and he coughed again, spitting up more blood. Then he received a strong kick to his back again, making him double over in pain. He fell to his side.

Yugi tried to yell for Yami while gasping for air, "Y…Yam..." Yugi caught his breath for a moment and as loud as he could he screamed, "YAMI!"

From lack of air and his weakened state, Yugi's world went black.

Yami was downstairs figuring out what he and Yugi should have for breakfast. Yami didn't like leaving Yugi all alone right now, but he kept his hearing sharp just in case.

Yami went looking through the shelves and refrigerator, he even went to the basement to see if they had anything in their little stock downstairs, but he couldn't find anything that he wanted.

When he got back upstairs, he heard something he actually dreaded to hear. His name.

"YAMI!" He heard Yugi scream from upstairs.

Yami didn't need his sharp hearing for that, it was loud enough for him to hear from the kitchen.

"Yugi?" Yami ran to the bottom of the steps, "Yugi!?" Yami called up, but got no response.

Yami ran up the stairs and into the bathroom. He opened the door to be lost in shock. He gasped at what he saw.

He saw blood everywhere on the flood, toilet and the shower doors. He then spotted Yugi passed out on the bathroom floor, some blood was falling from his mouth.

"Yugi!" Yami called as he ran to Yugi's body and kneeled down.

Yami grabbed Yugi's shoulder and tried to shake him away, but worked to no avail.

"Yugi, come one. Don't do this to me right now." Yami pleaded.

Yami was against it at first, but he lowered his hand down to Yugi's stomach and soon felt a powerful kick from the baby.

"This isn't right. I have to get them both to Miko, alive." Yami thought out load.

Yami picked up Yugi in his arms. Being careful as he ran, he got outside and to the Charger and put Yugi in the passenger seat. Yami quickly got in the driver seat and drove off to the mansion.

Yami got to the mansion, in what seemed like a matter of second. He pulled up to the front door and parked the car. He turned the car off and ran to the passenger seat. He picked Yugi up in his arms and hurried inside.

Wolf and Kat were standing by the throne room doors on their normal duties routine. They then saw the door of the mansion burst open and saw Yami run with Yugi in his arms. They watched as he ran to the medical wing. The two looked at each other and ran off after Yami to the medical wing.

Yami went towards Miko's main office and ended up bursting in, "Miko!" Yami called.

This actions surprised the pink haired vampire from her desk as she jumped in her seat from the action. She then spotted the limp Yugi in Yami's arms. She sprang up from her desk, wondering what was wrong.

"Yami, wha-" Miko started.

"Miko, he passed out. I don't know what going on. I came here as soon as possible to see if you would know." Yami explained to her.

Miko paused and fixed her glasses, "Follow me."

Miko walked past Yami and down the hall.

Yami followed right behind her she lead him to a examination room.

Wolf and Kat stood at the end of the hall and watched the group go into the room. They slowly walked forward towards the room. The door was left open a bit so Kat peaked inside, Wolf was trying to see as well as she looked over Kat's head.

"Put him on the table. I'll see what I can find out while he is still passed out." Miko said.

Yami did as told and set Yugi down gently on the table.

Miko took Yugi's blood pressure, it was very low. She took his temperature and it was actually one degree below normal. Miko picked one of Yugi's fingers to taste his blood. Even his blood was a little off.

Miko put her hand to Yugi's stomach, it was only a few second later she felt a strong kick against her hand.

"Just as I thought." Miko said out loud.

"What? What is it? What is wrong?" Yami wondered with worry.

Miko took a pause and looked up at Yami, "This baby needs to come out, now. If we wait anymore then the baby will become distressed and frustrated. This will cause the baby to try and find its own way out." Miko told him.

"Do you mean-" Yami paused.

"Yes. It will claw, kick, break, and do anything to get out no matter what." Miko finished.

Yami gasped.

Wolf and Kat even gasped from outside the door. A little too loud since Yami and Miko heard them.

Yami turned to the door, "Wolf. Kat. Go back to your posts at the throne room."

The two knew the gig was up and opened the door.

"No, Yami." Wolf started.

"We want to help you.' Kat finished.

There was a silence, all of them looked at Miko for the answer.

"You can help." Miko said. "One of you much hand me the tools I need and the other much be ready for the baby to clean."

"Got it." Wolf and Kat said.

They all then heard a groan. They looked to see Yugi was blinking his eyes open.

"Yami?" Yugi groaned.

Yami want right to Yugi's side. Yami grabbed Yugi's hand and put his other hand on Yugi's head.

"I'm right here, Yugi." Yami whispered softly to him.

Yugi looked over to Yami, "Where am i?" Yugi asked.

"At the mansion. When I found you passed out on the bathroom floor I took you here as fast as possible." Yami answered.

Yugi nodded weakly, remembering what little had happened. Yugi looked around to see Miko, Wolf and Kat around him, "What's going on? Something the matter?"

Miko stepped forward, "Yugi, I think its time for the baby to come." Miko told him.

"Why?" Yugi wondered.

Then Yugi felt a strong kick to his ribs and it was so strong that it cracked one of his ribs, making a big 'crack' that everyone heard. Then with it was the pain and Yugi screamed out because of it.

"That's way." Miko said, "Yami pick him up. Hurry, we must get him to the surgical room."

Yami nodded. Not having to be told twice, he picked up Yugi gently and followed Miko.

Yugi had his arms wrapped around Yami's neck and he cried as he left more pain.

"Yami, it hurts." Yugi cried.

"Don't worry Yugi, it will be over soon." Yami tried to calm him when he was nervous himself.

Yugi dug his face into Yami's neck.

They soon got to one of the surgery rooms and Yami set Yugi down on the table.

Miko went to wash up and then got a needle ready with some kind of clear fluid in it.

"Yami, take his shirt off and put him on his side so I can put this in his spine." Miko ordered.

"What does it do?" Yami asked.

"Numbs him from the mid chest down so he doesn't' feel anything." Miko answered.

She walked up to Yugi as Yami helped Yugi take his shirt off and put him on his side.

"I'll gave him a little more than normal so it kicks in faster." She got the needle ready, "Now breath, Yugi, you might feel a pinch." Miko told him.

Yugi tried to breath as calm as possible as Miko stuck the needle in his back and injected the fluid.

Wolf watched closely, "Will giving him more help?" She asked.

"We need it to work as fast as possible so we can get to work without Yugi feeling anymore pain." Miko explained.

Yami set Yugi back on his back.

Yugi looked towards Yami, "Yami will you stay with me?" He asked as tears still fell from his eyes.

"Of course." Yami answered, kissing Yugi's forehead.

Yami put his forehead against Yugi's and he let a tear fall from his eye.

"Yami don't cry." Yugi said.

"But this is my fault." Yami breathed out. "I never wanted to see you in pain, but your pain is from my own doing. It's my fault you are like this. My own stupidity." He cried.

"Yami look at me." Yugi said, as he put his hand to Yami's cheek. "I'd rather go through the pain to have your baby, then not having a family at all."

Yami smiled at that, but she still felt guilty.

After a couple minutes, Yugi was completely numb. He could even feel the hard kicks anymore. Miko put on some gloves and a mask. Kat stood by Miko if she needed anything, while Wolf stood on the side of the table so she could get things ready when the baby was delivered.

Even though Yugi felt okay, everyone self in the room knew he was slowly starting to die. They had to act fast. Yugi was getting weaker as time went by.

They all got ready as Miko took a regular scalpel and started to cut through Yugi's skin.

Yugi tried not to look as they started, he kept his head to the side and kept his eyes closed, putting his face into Yami side since he was right there.

As Miko cut, blood poured out. All the vampires in the room were good with blood, so the smell didn't urge them to drink. Yugi was at least safe on that part.

Miko was at it for a little bit before she asked for the vampire tooth scalpel. Kat handed Miko the scalpel.

"Get ready. The bay is almost here." Miko said.

Yugi peaked a little bit as Miko lowered her hand. Yugi then heard the cutting sound of the scalpel against the hard protected womb.

Yugi actually shuttered from the sound a little.

Miko worked her way at the womb for a bit, it gave her a little trouble before she was finally able to get all the way through and made a big enough hole for the baby. Miko put the scalpel down and reached her hands inside.

Soon enough, she pulled out and in her hands was the baby. Miko cut the umbilical cord and handed it to Wolf, who had a towel ready. Using a bulb syringe, she cleaned out the baby's nose and throat and soon enough the baby started to cry.

Yugi looked fully now at the baby in Wolf's arms as it started to cry and was amazing at the sight before him. He couldn't hold his head up anymore and let it fall back onto the table. A sigh escaped his lips.

Miko turned to Kat, "Start cleaning him up."

Kat nodded.

Miko went to Yugi and looked down at him, and then up to Yami; who was in a bit of amazement.

"You have a son." Miko told them.

"A son?" Yami made sure he heard right.

Miko nodded, "I'll have Wolf give him to you once I put Yugi back together and stop the blood." Miko said.

Miko went back to Kat and started to put Yugi back together.

Yami looked down at Yugi with a smile. Yugi looked up at Yami with a week smile as his eyes were half closed. Yami put his forehead to Yugi's.

"A son, Yugi. I can't believe it. I can say that I'm actually happy." Yami whispered to him.

"It is amazing. What should we name him?" Yugi asked softly.

"I don't know. You have an idea?" Yami wondered.

Yugi took a pause, "Can we name him after you? Give him your old name back when you were a pharaoh?" Yugi suggested.

Yami thought about it for a moment. Miko then interrupted his thoughts when she started to sound frantic.

"Kat, please hold this down and soak up the blood." Miko said quickly.

"You need me to stop the bleeding?" Kat asked.

"Yes. I can't sow him up with this much blood still coming out." Miko told her.

Kat quickly grabbed a rag and put her hands next to Miko's, whose rag was already soaked in blood.

"What's wrong?" Yami asked.

"We can't stop the bleeding. There is still a lot coming out. He can't loss anymore, plus Yugi is weak enough as it is. He was week when we started and now after birth, he is losing blood and that's making him weaker." Miko explained to him.

Yami's happiness quickly left then and then got extremely worried. He looked down at Yugi as he took deep long breathes.

"Yugi? Yugi, look at me." Yami grabbed one of Yugi's hands and put his other to Yugi's face and looked at each other in the eyes.

"Yami?" Yugi breathed.

"Yes it's me, Yugi. How do you feel?" Yami asked.

"Not so good. I'm having trouble breathing. I'm tired. Can I sleep yet?" Yugi asked with his eyes half shut.

"No, Yugi. Not yet. We still have to hold our son, remember?" Yami told him.

Yugi gave a weak smile, "Our son. I want to hold him, please." Yugi said.

Yami held tighter onto Yugi's hand. Yami looked towards Miko.

"Miko?" Yami started.

Miko looked up at him real fast then back down to what she was doing, "Yami, we stopped the blood, but I don't' know how much time he has time left." Miko said as she sewed up Yugi's stomach.

Yami looked at Miko with shock. He looked down at Yugi, who was still breathing hard. Yami eyes started to fill with tears.

"Miko can he hold our son? Please? I want Yugi to be able to see him." Yami asked as he tried to hold back his tears.

"Of course." Miko looked to Wolf, who had the baby all clean and wrapped up in a blanket. "Wolf, give them the baby."

Wolf nodded and walked over to Yami and handed him the baby. Yami took the baby and held him close to Yugi.

Yugi smiled as he brought his hand up to put his hand on the baby's head. The baby was calm and sleep.

The boy looked like both of the two fathers put together. He had both their crazy star shaped tri-color hair. He had Yugi's yellow lightning bangs that covered his forehead, but there was only two strands, one on each side of his face. His eyes were closed, you could tell that he had Yami's sharp eyes and Yugi round face.

Yami felt happiness as he looked at his son. Finally out in the world and in their arms. Yami's emotion of happiness vanished quickly as Yugi's arm dropped away from around the baby.

"Yugi?" Yami said with worry.

"I'm find." Yugi said.

"You still want to name him after me?" Yami asked.

Yugi nodded as he took a sharp breath, "Atem."

Yami let out a small smile and kissed Yugi's forehead.

"Yami?" Yugi started.

"Yes?" Yami wondered.

Yugi took another deep breath, "If I die, can you change me?" Yugi asked.

Yami was taken back by the question, "No, Yugi, I can't do that to you. Plus you are not going to die. We are going to be a family, just like we wanted." Yami told him.

Yugi lifted his hand to Yami's check, "I know I'm dying Yami…There's not much you can do at this point." Yugi said weakly.

Yami grabbed Yugi's hand and held it close to his face.

Yami turned to Wolf, "Wolf, take Atem. Go look after him for a little bit."

Wolf looked at Yami sadly and took Atem from his arms. Wolf started to head out the door, Kat followed.

"Take him to the nursery. Down the hall to your right." Miko told them.

They nodded. The two looked at Yami one more time with sad eyes and walked down the hall.

Yami still held onto Yugi's hand, which was still pressed against his check. Yami started to cry.

"Yugi, I can't change you. I don't want you to be one of us. I don't want you to feel like you are alone." Yami cried.

"But Yami, I won't be alone. I have you and Atem by my side. There is no reason for anyone to go anywhere." Yugi said softly. "Plus, even so. I would want you to turn me anyway. I don't want to grow old, die and leave you alone. I can't live without you."

"And I can't live without you."

"Then that is all the more reason to change me."

Yami had a tear fall as thoughts went through his head.

Yugi breath started to get shallow.

"Yami." Yugi started and Yami got closer to him. "I-I…love you." Yugi breathed out.

"I love you too." Yami said as more tears fell.

Yugi's eyes slowly closed and his hand slipped from Yami's and fell lip on the side of the table.

Yami then felt his dead heart sink.

"Yugi?" Yami shook his arm, "Yugi?"

Yami had no response from him. Yami took Yugi's shoulders and started to shake him again.

"Yugi!? Yugi, please!?" Yami's tears fell harder. "Please don't leave me." Yami said softly.

Yami put a hand to Yugi's face and he felt a little cold. "I need you my love. I need you." He put his forehead to Yugi's "You are my light…that fills my dark. You are the sun and…moon in my sky! The one that makes…my dead heart…beat!" Yami cried out, his breath getting stuck in his throat as he tried to not let out a yell.

Miko walked up behind Yami and put her hand to his shoulder. He lifted his head up and looked back at her with teary eyes.

"Yami, he's dead." Miko told him.

Wolf: There it is, chapter 10. Sorry that it took me so long guys. Lots of stuff has been going on. Lots of school work and all that jazz. I will try to not make you guys wait as long for the next chapter.

Akami: *Whispers*Try to keep that promise.

Wolf: Akami! *Jumps at him*

Akami: *Dodges* *Runs away* R&R and wait for the next.

Wolf: Come back her Akami!
