A/N Happy 4th of July! You guys are the best readers I've ever had. You guys put up such sweet reviews and it encourages me to go on even when I think my stories are turning into mush! I love writing to you guys cus if my friends found out I wrote fanfiction, I'd never hear the end of it. But yes, it's true. I've finally put up the first chapter of "Educate Me." I know the title sounds simple but I'm so weak minded that it took me a good week to come up with that.
"What are you doing here?" I asked her uncomfortably.
She simply swayed back and forth on her heels. "Um, can we talk?"
"Sure," I opened the doorway for her to enter and when she did, she looked around the living room as if she had never been in there before. Like she was searching for something.
"What's up?" I asked and she grimaced.
"So, um I know you know why I'm here."
"I really don't," I replied, hands in my pockets.
She leaned on the couch. "Um, how do you know Leah Larusso? The Leah Larusso?"
I chuckled at her curiosity.
I took Nessie breaking up with me as a blessing. Cus if she hadn't, I wouldn't have met Leah. If I hadn't met Leah, I would still be with Nessie who was just simple compared to Leah. Even though my love for Leah was different than my love for Nessie, I was perfectly ok with her jealousy. It showed weakness.
"I saw the pictures, Jake. Are you guys-" she swallowed. "-Dating?"
"I don't kiss and tell."
She smirked at my comment. "Did I hurt you?"
I cocked my eyebrow in confusion.
"Like, when I broke up with you? Did I hurt you?"
Crossing my arms and hanging my head, I tried to hide my intense blushing. Had she hurt me? Big time. How long did it last? Till I got to the concert and saw Leah's face. Was I hurt now?
"A little bit," I answered. Nessie stalked towards me slowly and put her hands around my neck.
"I never meant to hurt you, Jakey."
She brought me down to her level and planted a needy and desperate kiss on my lips. She rubbed her tongue across my bottom lip and demanded entrance. Before I could even think about doing anything with her, I broke it off and her lips were in a pout.
"What?"
"You're kidding me, right?" I growled at her in disbelief.
"What? What I do?" she asked in shock.
"You can't just waltz over here, looking all cute and shit and just kiss me! How do you know I'm not in a relationship or-" I was so infuriated and angry that I was yelling.
"I thought you don't kiss and tell!" she interrupted.
"That's not the point, Nessie-"
"Jacob, who are you yelling at?" Embry came around the corner, food on his face and his eyebrows curled in amusement when he saw Nessie. "Oh, Nessie. Hey."
She waved weakly at him. "Hey, Quil."
"I'm Embry."
Nessie rolled her eyes and turned back to me as Embry went back into the kitchen while muttering, "The nerve..." under his breath.
"Just tell me why you're here? Did you forget something?"
She batted her lashes at me. "I forgot about you. I'm sorry, Jakey. Can we please try us again?"
This was odd.
Just when I thought our relationship was at the highest point it could be at, she dumps me. When I find someone new and more beautiful than her, she gets jealous? Was it cus she was Leah Larusso that Nessie felt as if she could compete? She was jealous cus Leah Larusso could tie me down with just a wink of an eye and Nessie had to try harder? Was she trying to prove that she could have me and Leah couldn't despite I was this close to fucking her?
Or maybe it was a publicity thing.
Judging by the fact that there are pictures of me all over the internet now, paparazzi were on my tail and trying to find me, if I were to be seen out in public with Nessie, I'd be labeled as a world known cheater for two-timing Leah behind her back. Nessie's face would be plastered on every magazine in America with headlines reading the most ridiculous things with even more ridiculous stories inside. Nessie was an attention whore. She'd eat that shit up.
Leah would be pestered with questions that she didn't wanna answer and I refused to put that attention and humiliation on her.
"Why? You broke up with me, right?"
"Yeah, but it was a mistake." She rubbed my forearm to soothe my anger. "I didn't mean to hurt you. I love you. Don't you still love me?"
This was one of the first times she's said she loved me on her own. I remember perfectly that I was the first one to say the L word and she said it back two weeks later.
This was a load of fuckery. How stupid did she think I was? I saw past all her dirt and I wasn't gonna fall for it. I fell for it the first time with her sweet brown eyes and tempting curves. It's not that Nessie was a bad girlfriend to me. She was deceiving and manipulative but she was still good to me. I found someone better.
"No, Nessie. Stop, just...stop," I told her as she tried to wrap herself around me. I refused and pushed her off lightly, a perplexed look on her face.
"But I thought you loved me?"
I shrugged.
"You don't want me back?"
"No, Nessie. I don't." I pleaded with her as nicely as possible. I didn't like seeing her-or any female-hurt. Things would've been a little different if my mom were still here. I'd go to her for advice or ask her to handle it for me.
But she was gone and I had to face this head first.
Would Nessie's heart break like mine did? Would this have any type of affect on her? Did she even care at all?
"But you told me you'd love me forever."
"Yeah, back when it actually mattered." I argued. She scrunched her face up in pain and she rolled her brown eyes.
"That's fucked up," she stated and swayed awkwardly in her spot.,
"I don't know what else to say."
Defeated, she brushed her shoulder against mine as she passed me for the door. I sighed and brushed it off as I heard the door open.
"For this conversation's sake, did you ever truly love me?" she asked.
"Of course I did."
She sighed and with that, exited the house and slammed the door.
Minutes later, Embry came around the corner, bread in his mouth and eyed me suspiciously. "Well...?"
"Well, what?"
"What'd she say?"
"Nothing."
"Bullshit. What was all that yelling then?"
I hesitated. "She wanted to get back together."
His eyes widened with amusement. "Well are you?"
I shook my head and looked at him oddly for asking just a dumb question.
"Aww! Jacob, come on now!" He threw his hands up in disapproval.
"What?" I whined at him and he gave me his famous "You're-An-Idiot" look.
"She wanted to get back with you and you said no?"
"She dumped me. I don't wanna risk the heartbreak again, thanks." With a roll of my eyes and a plop on the couch, Embry was by my side.
"Do you know how many guys would be lucky to have Nessie Cullen? The Nessie Cullen?"
"Do you know how much I don't care?"
He groaned. "I'm serious! Maybe getting back with Nessie would help keep your mind off of Leah. She's all the way in, what Argentina, right?"
"Tennessee," I corrected him.
"Right, Tennessee! Leah's miles and miles away. Nessie's right here. Who knows when you'll see Leah again?"
That last statement lingered in the air. When Leah left that morning, there was a light of hope that we'd see each other again some day. I was absolutely livid when Nessie dumped me and it hurt real bad, but I had Leah right? Then again, like Embry said, when would I see her again? She'd finish her tour, go back to her fly and fancy lifestyle in L.A and forget about the boy who gave her one of the best nights of her life.
Sighing at the scary reality, my heart broke a little at the idea of never seeing Leah again.
Six days had passed and I wasn't starting to regret my decision to get back with Nessie. It was the beginning of July and she was already planning some huge type of birthday party for me, even though I insisted I didn't want one. She announced it on the Fourth of July when my sisters came down to visit.
Embry was right. Being back with her had helped me keep my mind off of Leah. I haven't been obsessively checking her Twitter every five minutes. More like every other day now. Apparently she was on the East Coast now.
The rumors about me and Leah dating didn't seem to bother Nessie much. She said they gave her confidence and the will to hold on to me tight and not let me go again. In all honesty, I was happy with Nessie but there was always hope that Leah would just come knocking on my door, ready to have another awesome night like a few weeks ago.
Being with Nessie didn't stop the constant repeat of Leah Larusso songs on the rock channel on the radio. Almost every morning, they played her song, "Angel," which was about being in love with someone who puts you second when you put them first. It was a constant reminder of how badly it hurt to be apart from her with the naive belief that she I still crossed her mind. Occasionally, I'd awake with Nessie in my arms and we'd watch the sun rise but that didnt mean I wasn't imagining Leah.
Today was July eighth. After I made Nessie breakfast and she left, I took a long, hot shower. I changed into my sweatpants and T-shirt and decided to relax outside in the backyard.
The grass was moist when I settled into it. I laid back and watched the clouds shift. The sun moved around and I basked in the heat of morning.
I wondered what state Leah was in and how many more states she had left until she'd be back in California.
As if on cue, my phone vibrated and when I checked it, it was an update from Leah's Twitter.
"Just arrived in New York. Five more days and I get to go back home! xD"
Five more days? That's it? That wasnt too long! Sure, it was after my birthday but I didn't care! She would be home, closer to me than what she was now. I did an awkward squirm/ break dance on the ground in happiness and began to count the hours till she was back in the Pacific time zone.
Five days. Only five more days.
Five days turned to four.
"New York energy is amazing. Hope to come back soon..." she tweeted along with a picture of her overlooking the city from her hotel room. The night dragged even though the wait wasn't even that long.
Four days turned to three.
My patience was wearing thin and I was doing my best to stay positive. Three days wasn't that far, right? I was more anticipated for her arrival than my own birthday.
"What do you want for your birthday, Jakey?" Nessie asked as she wrapped her arms around my waist. My hand rubbed her shoulder and I grimaced.
"Nothing."
"Oh c'mon. Nothing?"
"Nope. It's just my birthday, nothing special."
"But, you're turning nineteen! That a year older than all your friends. Only two years away from being able to get wasted-"
"It's a useless number. It's like, I'm not newly an adult but I'm not in my twenties."
"Yeah, but I really wanna get you something."
I looked down at her and smiled. "Thoughtful, but even if you do get me something, I'm just gonna take it back to the store."
She laughed. "Yeah, ok. But at least lemme throw you a party."
I'd allow that. "As long as you can get my dad to come."
She looked up at me and grinned. "I can do that."
"Promise?" I put my pinkie out and she looped it with her own.
"I promise."
I kissed her lips and she squeezed me.
If Nessie could get my dad to come for my birthday, then it'd make my day. I trusted she could. We did a pinkie swear on it.
The eve of my birthday didn't excite me like it did most boys my age. Sure, I was two years away from drinking legally but it didn't excite me as much as it did Leah's homecoming.
Nessie had claimed she hadn't bought me a gift but I knew she was up to something. It was cute at how innocent she tried to play it off but I knew her too well to know that she hadn't bought me something.
Embry knew that I didn't want a gift as well but I knew he would anyway. He was just that mischievous and sly.
While roaming the web, I found on Twitter there was a new trending topic that was sending everyone over the edge. Some loved it, some hated it, some felt the need to retweet the hell out of it.
#blackleatherleaked
My heart was going at one hundred thumps a second when I read Leah's tweet.
"Motherfuckers need to stop leaking my shit. Enjoy it anyway, assholes."
I chuckled then found the link of all links. The queen link that ruled all of other peasant links.
My hand shaking, I clicked on the link to "Black Leather." The song that all Leah Larusso fans have been waiting weeks for.
Youtube popped up and I turned the volume all the way up. As the song faded in, my eyes stayed locked on the single's cover art. It was a simple side angled shot of Leah looking off seriously into the distance with her hair whipping around the wind. Her makeup was quite light and I could tell her eye color was enhanced by some photo editing software. Even though the shot only showed from her shoulder up, I could tell her top was made of leather. The backround looked like a fog or dust of some kind and written neatly in a cursive font was "Black Leather." It looked well laid out and neat. Whoever did the photography and editing did well.
The song itself was something else.
It was different.
Not bad different but...a stretch from the type of music Leah usually made. Instead of the sounds of a guitar and drums, I heard a catchy electronic tune and angelic type back up vocals. Instead of screaming to hit the highest note like Steven Tyler, she was actually singing it out with an actual singing voice and not that hard and edgy groan she usually did.
This song was a lot more feminine and girly compared to her other songs. This song you could dance to and make some kind of bright and exciting music video to. I could hear this song being played in clubs, making people go insane on the dance floor. Making people get horny and confident enough to hook up with the hottest piece of ass in the bar. I could visualize this song being used in commercials to endorse some type of product that women would want and men would want their women to want.
That was just it. This song belonged in a completely different genre of music.
Did I like it? I was all for variety and after a few listens, I found myself humming it.
I added it to my favorites and listened to it again. I barely recognized Leah's voice. She sounded so sweet and innocent instead of naughty and hard. Both ways were a turn on to me and I could only imagine what type of reaction other fans around the world were having.
A/N Hello, loves! I'm running on Baltimore crabs, apple cider and a "The Golden Girls' marathon right now so I'm so hyped up for you guys to read this. If-cus I know some of you are-any of you are wondering what kind of song Leah has made, I suggest you listen to "Out Of Control" by Lady Gaga. It's a leaked song, wasn't on "Born This Way" unfortunately but seriously though, I strongly suggest you listen to it. Imaginations are good too but, I based the song "Black Leather" on "Out of Control." Please review cus not only do I run on Baltimore crabs , apple cider and "The Golden Girls" but I run on the nice words of such good people such as yourselves. :D
