Chapter Nine

Rapunzal sat miserably beside Jack's bed.

It had been a whole day since he had passed out and they were all starting to get worried.

She had tried to heal him, but it hadn't worked.

Merida had said that she thought the Man in the Moon had something to do with it.

There for, they'd have to wait and let Jack wake up in his own time.

To make matters worse, Hiccup's condition wasn't getting any better either.

He sat nearby on another bed coughing.

Merida had gone with Toothless to patrol the area for signs of the King of Idiots, as they had taken to calling him.

Rapunzal handed Hiccup a cup filled with water. "Thanks." He said, she winced at his voice. It sounded like gravel being ground together.

She reclaimed her seat next to Jack and checked his temputre. Luckily, Jack wasn't even room temputre. Which was perfectly normal for a Winter Spirit.

Rapunzal found a quill and a piece of paper and started doodling. She drew flowers and dragons, and snowflakes and bears.

"Hey." Jack said weakly. Rapunzal jumped and spun around so quickly she knocked over the ink well, splattering black ink all over her new blue dress.

She didn't care; blue had never been her color anyways. Jack's icy blue eyes were only opened half way and he looked even paler than normal but Rapunzal threw her arms around him.

"Hey!" he said again, but this time it was more of an exclamation than a greeting. "Ow!" he cried and Rapunzal realized she was smothering him. She quickly let go and he took a deep shuddering breath. Hiccup stumbled from his own bed over to Jack's.

Jack frowned when he saw Hiccup. "I thought you were supposed to be getting better, not worse." Hiccup shrugged then broke off into another coughing fit. Rapunzal rubbed his shoulder. "What happened?" she asked, returning her attention to Jack.

"You just collapsed." Jack got a faraway and somewhat frightened look in his eyes.

"I really think Merida should be here to listen to what I have to tell you." As if on cue, Merida pushed to door open. "Jack!" she exclaimed when she saw that he was awake. She hurried over and took a seat next to Rapunzal.

Jack took a deep breath and bit his lip. "Just tell us what happened." Merida encouraged. Jack nodded weakly and began to explain. When he had finished telling them about his vision, the room was silent.

"So…." Rapunzal began but she seemed to be at a loss for what to say. "What do we do?" Hiccup questioned. "We could move on." Merida suggested. "I don't like it but we could leave. We'd probably be safe with the Guardians. If they'd let us stay there." Jack frowned. "I think we're going to need their help." He agreed.

"But I don't think that we should go to them. We'd just be outing more innocent people in danger. I could get a message out to Sandy tonight and maybe he can get the other Guardians to come here."

"I think Jack's right." Rapunzal commented. "We've been running for ages. I'm getting tired of it. The King of Idiots can sink his own ship for all I care. But we need to face him on our own terms." Everyone stared at her.

Completely surprised that Rapunzal had been the one to speak up first.

"Besides," Rapunzal said, a smile pulling at her lips. "I think I know someone who can help us."

A/N: I'm really sorry for the short chapter but I promise that the next one will be a lot longer. I'm also going to apologize for the cliffhanger from the last chapter. But my friend who's probably crazy said that she likes cliffhangers, so I decided to do a cliffhanger. Anyways, I decided to start doing trivia questions. And whoever can give the right answer first will have a chapter dedicated to them. Here is the first trivia question. "What does Hiccup call Toothless's fire?" (Hint: the answer is in an episode of Dragons Riders of Berk) Please guess and review! Bye!
