ME NO OWN FAIRY TAIL
Happy
He had his backpack already to go, strapped to his back and over the black cloak he wore. He put on the hood of the cloak knowing that he now needed only one thing before he left, but when he turned around to find it a slim man entered the small hut. He had dark crimson hair and dark brown eyes and was rather tall. He carried an intimidating aura around with him and an air of a person with royal status. He wore a white cloak that looked like it was made with the finest of silk imported from a faraway land, the edge of the cloak that brushed the ground slightly was the color of gold before it started to get lighter and lighter and fade into bleach white.
"Natsu," the man said as a crude smile slipped on his face when he addressed the twelve-year-old. The boy looked up though his face was obscured from view by the shadows the hood casted over him. The man moved forward, his fingertips brushing against the tiny homemade table, looking down at them. "I get the impression that you're trying to abandon the guild?" he spoke with what seemed to be a kind fatherly-like voice but Natsu knew better than believe the tone he used. He didn't reply, just stayed rooted to place as the man he despised came nearer and nearer to him, a slight trembling of fear coming to him, though he didn't show it. "Well, what do you have to say for yourself? Hmmm, Natsu?" he asked. He now stood in front of the boy, looking down at him with a crude smile that grew slightly.
"King…" was all the boy could mutter, unable to find an excuse. "What makes you think that way?" his voice sounded like someone who had lost their soul, something so sad for a life so young. King moved his hand up and brushed away the hood that hid the small child-like face from his view. His hand caressed the slightly chubby cheeks before they lightly gripped the boy's chin and he forced it gently up so he was now looking into his eyes.
He was the perfect little solider, he mused. With those dead charcoal eyes and blank face that had no emotion or thought in them whatsoever with innocence that seemed to also surround him though with just his hand he could kill a man in seconds. He was perfect, he was easy to bend and break. Oh, he even remembered the day the boy was brought to him some time ago. So stubborn, so carefree, letting his emotions get ahead of him instead of thinking things through. Breaking him was fun, probably the best memory he had and whenever he had gotten upset, he would remember the screams from the pinkette and smile. Yes, he was the perfect little solider.
"Oh, Natsu," he cooed, his grip on the chin becoming tighter. "I have my ways of finding out and you know it." There, he saw it! The fear that quickly flashed through the boy's eyes! What a wonderful sight!
"I would never leave. Someone told you a lie." Natsu replied, thinking fast. King leaned down so he was just barely towering over the boy.
"Why do you lie to the King? You know what happens when you do." he teased in a light voice. Natsu's eyes twitched just barely.
"But, I'm not ly—" he was quickly cut off when he was punched in the face, sending him flying back and into the small hut's wall, creating a large hole. Debris fell on top of him as he tried anything but to groan in pain knowing it was just what the man wanted.
"Don't lie to me if you want your precious cat to live." he watched happily as he saw that caught Natsu's attention. "What was his name? Was it… Hugo? No… Hank? No…" He put a delicate finger on his chin in fake thought, lightly shaking his head as he did. "Or was it Happy? Yes, I think it was." Alarm flashed through Natsu as he sat up straight with wide eyes even though his head throbbed in protest.
"W-what do you want with Happy…?" Natsu asked cautiously, fearful for his friend.
"Let's make a deal." King suggested, his smile dropping and his expression turning to a look that made Natsu stop breathing and fear to freeze his movements, the only thing he was able to do was to stare at the face of his guild master. "Happy will be the bargaining chip, of course. The deal is Happy lives if you stay, but your precious little Happy will be killed right in front of you if you are away for far too long than what is necessary or try to leave the guild, got it?" Natsu gave a quick small nod. King smiled once more and pressed two fingers to his temple. "You can let the cat go now." he said to someone. Natsu scrambled forward onto his hands and knees, his eyes wide and frantic.
"What are you doing to do to Happy?!" Natsu shouted, his voice shrill as possible thoughts on what was going on with Happy floated through his head. King smiled even wider at the reaction, turning around with a flutter of his cloak, walking back towards the open door.
"Don't worry, Natsu-chan; I just had Kegu "watch" over him." Then he was gone leaving Natsu staring at where he was with wide eyes, heart thumping in his chest. The backpack on his shoulders slipped down though Natsu didn't notice.
Even twenty minutes after King's departure he stayed that way until Happy came flying in, the small blue cat knocking him over and grinning brightly at him.
"Natsu! Guess what?! Kegu gave me fish and told me of all the different fish he has seen on his missions!" the cat explained happily. Natsu blinked back at him as tears prickled in his eyes. Before Happy knew it, the pinkette had him in a tight hug, crying softly to himself as he hugged the blue cat closer to him.
"Happy… Happy… I'm so glad…" he kept on whispering making his friend confused.
"Wah?! Natsu! You're crying! You never cry!" Happy shouted, worried for him. Natsu chuckled making the blue cat even more worried.
"I'm just happy you're my friend…" he whispered.
"Natsu," a voice said, a hand lightly shaking his shoulder. Natsu groggily pried open his eyes, eyes widening when the first color he saw was red, only calming down when he finally saw it was Erza. He jerked his shoulder away from her touch, blinking up at her blankly, as she stepped back so he could sit up straight. "We've decided to help you with getting your friend back." She told him with a smile. He noticed the other three who were in the room, Lucy, Gray, and Master, giving them a quick glance before he looked at Erza.
"Why?" he asked, trying to push down the hope that fluttered in his chest. He didn't want to be too hopeful only to have it crushed. A small laugh left the old man's lips making Natsu turn to him.
"Why? Because we're Fairy Tail! That should be reason enough!" Master laughed aloud making the others except Natsu smile who just blinked at him.
"That's not a very good reason." Natsu said bluntly, the laughter dying from the old man and smiles slipping as all four sweetdropped.
"Yeah, well, too bad…" Gray said, crossing his arms. "We don't need to tell you a reason if you're going to be like that." he told him truthfully.
"You could've just said that in the first place." The pinkette told them. "But other than that, how can you help me when I can't get out of here?" Makarov scratched his cheek sheepishly.
"Oh, yeah… that…"
