*I OWN NOTHING*
Hi readers,
I know this chapter took too long. I 've been going through a lot of personal crap I'd rather not get into here
*Yamato*
Yamato paced his house for an hour holding his cell phone in his shaky hands, thinking about what he should say. By that time, Yamato worked up the nerve to call Mei. When finally did so, he was startled by the sound of Mei's voice shouting in his ear "WHAT DO YA WANT?"
In fact, he so stunned that the only thing Yamato could manage to say, was "M-Mei?". But before he could utter another syllable, Mei hung up the phone. He immediately called her back, knowing she would not pick up- and he was right.
*Mei*
She threw the phone across her room in anger. Needless to say, she didn't pick up the second time it rang. Mei threw an armor of blankets around herself, and it wasn't until her chest started to ache, that she realized she had stopped breathing. Once her lungs remembered how to work again, Mei burst out into sobs, and tears burned her bloodshot eyes. For a split second, she actually considered calling him back...
*Yamato*
He glanced out the window and saw that it was raining cats and dogs. Had he been thinking clearly, he never would have gone outside; but he could not even manage to think coherently, let alone rationally. As a result, Yamato found himself walking out of his house without so much as an umbrella to protect him from the downpour. Once he managed to walk all the way to Mei's house, he knocked on her door. He was disappointed when Mei did not answer but not surprised
*Mei*
She heard a knock at the door but did not bother to get up assuming whomever it was would take the hint and leave. Mei's assumption was proven wrong by a second knock. With reluctance, Mei sat up and looked out her window only to see the last person she wanted anything to do with. Before her brain could stop her mouth Mei opened her window and shouted at her ex-boyfriend in a crazed tone of voice that she herself hardly recognized "GO AWAY!"
" I can't do that" Yamato called back his calm voice muffled by the fierce storm.
Mei slammed her window with a loud thud and laid back down in bed thinking he would leave sooner or later. Once again she was proven wrong... Yamato stood in the unforgiving rain for fifteen minutes waiting for the love of his life. Eventually, she crawled out of bed, feeling a strange sort numbness as if every movement she made was being determined by someone else. Needless to say, soon enough Mei was clutching the doorknob until her knuckles
She has no recollection of opening the door... Regardless, when she and Yamato were standing face to face there was a second where Mei felt a flicker of guilt. So without a word Mei stepped away from the door to allow Yamato inside so he could dry off. Yamato gratefully entered the warmth of Mei's house. He turned to Mei who had been watching him with an icy glare as she looked him up and down. "Thank you" he whispered weakly before closing the door behind him.
Mei was silent instead of speaking Mei began walking to the kitchen with a dripping Yamato in toe. However, this did not deter him... "... You look sick are eating right?" Yamato asked unable to ignore the fact that she had clearly lost weight. Not to mention, her bloodshot eyes and pale skin all he got in response were crickets but he wasn't going to surrender.
You idiot I don't have anything to say to you, you S.O.B Mei thought bitterly as she desperately tried to control her anger. At they found themselves in the kitchen suffering through yet another painful silence. Be that as it may, Mei continued acting as if Yamato were invisible as began making tea.
Meanwhile, Yamato was losing his mind as Mei nonchalantly prepared tea. He was the first to or rather beg out of pure desperation..."Mei, please talk to me" he pleaded.
Still, she went on unfazed until the tea was served and they were sitting. Then and only then did she break her silence "Why did you come here? Mei asked before quietly sipping her cup of tea.
Yamato paused wanting to choose his words carefully because he did not want to upset her. " I heard the other kids at school were giving you a hard time. I wanted to make sure you alright... A lump formed in his throat "I also wanted the chance to apologize for what I did-"
" You mean cheating on me?" Mei asked rhetorically with a discussed snort. " I don't need a knight in shining armor" she stated with a harsh cold chuckle.
Yamato recoiled almost as if he had been punched "I know I don't deserve you but I'm still hopelessly in love ... I love you so much it hurts..." Yamato's eyes burned with tears and his throat all but swelled shut with emotion. Still, he refused to stop because he knew if he did not say what he needed to he would never get another chance. "I made a mistake that I will always regret but if you can find it in your heart to forgive me I promise you I will spend every minute of every day making it up to you."
Mei's face softened despite her best efforts. It was then that Yamato knew he getting, so he leaned across the table and whispered: "I love you..."
Mei was temporarily stunned. Next thing she knew they were both kissing so deeply and full of love it almost felt like no time had passed. However, eventually, Mei's head caught up with her heart. Then she panicked and shoved Yamato. "DID YOU THINK YOU COULD COME HERE, SWEEP ME OFF MY FEET AND FORGET WHAT YOU DID?"
"N-No" Yamato stuttered helplessly.
Mei was shaking with rage she wanted to shout out in again anger. Nevertheless, she realized that however tempting the idea may have been another outburst would solve nothing. So, she inhaled deeply pointed towards the door and with a detached tone uttered two words "Get out ..."
Alright... I'll leave ... but I want you to have this..." Yamato pulled out the bracelet he had once given Mei as a gift. Then with a heavy heart and slumped shoulders he left.
What do you think? Did you hate it? Did you love it? Let us know!
