Chapter 10: Team Battle
In the Guest Rooms, Sonic the Hedgehog walked out of his room. "Let's see, Pyso said that today's match will start at 3 p.m. I think I'll see if Link's already up."
Sonic walked down the hallway and saw Shantae leaning on the wall in front of Link's room.
"Hey Shantae, whatcha doing here?"
"Me? I was getting Link up. We want to warm up before our fight with Billy Hatcher and Tharja."
The door opened and Link came out prepared for today. "Look at you, Link. You haven't slept in as usual." said Sonic.
Link laughed lightly. "I was working on getting up earlier, but I'm still out of practice." Link then yawned and Shantae noticed the bags under his eyes.
"So how much do you pay for someone to wake you?" Shantae joked.
They walked into the eatery and found Tharja and Billy.
"Remember this, just fight one person and I'll handle the other." Tharja told Billy.
"O.K. Hey there's Link and Shantae now."
Link, Shantae, and Sonic sat at a table next to them. "So Billy and Tharja, are you two excited about our match?" asked Link.
Billy nodded yes while Tharja just sighed. "The faster I'm done with this, the faster I can get back home to (Place name of avatar of 'Fire Emblem Awakening here) WHO KEEPS SAYING THAT WHENEVER I MENTION THE NAME OF (Place name of avatar of 'Fire Emblem Awake…)"
Tharja looked at the other side of the room and saw Snailer holding a microphone. "Uhhhhh we interrupt this program to bring you a word of out sponsor."
The Mach Rider was just sitting on his motor cycle while eating a container of ramen. He then noticed the camera and stared at it for a few moments. "Uhhhhhh."
The camera man, Bexter, was dressed as a director. "Say our line. 'This ramen is the best food there is!'"
Tharja just glared at Snailer. "The faster I'm back to Robin the better."
A waitress took their orders and walked away. "So anyways, when is your match?" asked Sonic.
Billy took out a schedule. "It will be at 3 o'clock. That will give us enough time to train."
Tharja smirked. "Training? I've been through countless battles. You're the one that needs it the most."
Billy pounded his chest with pride. "Well I'm strong too. I fought through an army of evil crows."
"Crows?" asked Tharja. "Well I know someone who will hate you."
Link and Shantae finished their meals quickly. "Three o'clock? Come on Shantae, we should train."
Shantae finished up her drink. "I'm right behind you!"
Sonic was enjoying his meal peacefully. "Link and Shantae vs. Billy Hatcher and Tharja. I will not want to miss this." He took a sip of some juice, but then Groose jumped out of nowhere and scared Sonic. Sonic sprayed the juice right in Groose's face. "Groose?! What's the big deal?"
Groose leaned close to Sonic, ignoring the sprayed juice. "Sonic, please tell me that you didn't see those two hooking up. I have to protect Link's and Zelda's bond! …. If I said that before the start of Link's journey through the surface, they would lock me up and call me mad."
Sonic took the last bites from his breakfast. "I think they're just friends. Just relax; they've only met a few days ago." Sonic hopped out of his seat and exit the eatery while Groose followed.
Groose took a deep breath and calmed down. "Few days? Yeah, I guess I'm getting carried away. I'm still thinking the Dinner King guy did erase theirs' and your memories."
Sonic scratched the inside of his ear. "Well that guy did yell about popularity and turned people fat. I guess I'll buy it."
"You will!?" Groose said with the biggest puppy-eyes.
"Sure. After I'm sure everything here is done, we'll find him and kick his butt."
When they got into the Main Hall, they saw someone new at the door. "Hey who's that?"
Sonic and Groose looked at the main door and saw the Mach Rider dropping off Bexter. "How did you even find me?" Mach Rider turned around to the door, but then Sonic stopped him.
"Hey newbie, where're you from?"
Mach Rider took a few steps back. "I'm the Mach Rider."
Sonic placed his hand under his chin. "Mach Rider? So what are you; a newcomer, an Assist Trophy, or are you just here for modeling for a trophy?"
"Model?" Mach Rider turned angry. "I'm a warrior from my world that's a hundred years farther than most worlds. I use my motor cycle to destroy the evil alien force known as the Quadrunners. I'm no poser."
"Motor Cycle, what's that?" asked Groose.
Mach Rider snickered and leaned on the door. "You must be from a more primal world. Well that's a motor cycle."
Groose gazed at the metal bikes with machine guns. "Amazing! Look at this thing! It's perfect for on the surface!"
Mach Rider was a bit confused when Groose mentioned the surface. "Yeah, it is good for the ground."
Groosed examined the screen of the cycle. "Hey, what's this?"
Then a messaged appeared. "You got mail! From 'Mystery Shadow Man with the Obvious Secret Identity'."
Mach Rider immediately jumped onto this cycle. "That's just the username of my buddy over at Smash City."
"There's a city?" asked Sonic.
Mach Rider looked at the message. "I still have things to do today, I'll see you around and-"
"AHHHHH!" A woman cried out a short yell of fear.
"That's … Tharja?!" asked Sonic.
Sonic, Groose, and Bexter ran back into the building as Mach Rider glanced back at the message. "Damn it!" He loaded up his laser gun and ran inside.
Sonic saw some people running into a hall on the second floor. He jumped onto a statue of Mario and jumped up onto the second floor. He ran to the door, but something small tripped him over. "Hey!" But then he heard people yelling. Sonic jumped over the crowd and saw Tharja. "Alright, what the …. Diahh!"
Tharja held her hand out with a black aura, while holding Billy behind her. "I know what you are! Don't lay even a finger on this child!" Tharja snarled at …. Oh great, it's Tingle.
"Whoop, Whaap, Ho!" Tingle did a little dance and confetti shot out of his hand. "Please, I mean no harm. I was just very curious about this boy dress as a Cucco." Tharja moved Billy farther away from the man, ready to kill.
"Oh, Tingle making another person scream in fear, again." said Sonic.
When Groose, Bexter, and Mach Rider ran in; Pyso came to the scene from the other way. "Tharja, what is … oh." Pyso cleared his throat. "Everyone, this is Tingle. His world is rated E+10. Don't take him the wrong way."
Everyone talked to each other and left one by one expect for the main characters. "E+10? I'm not taking the chance." Tharja was about to unleash her dark powers, but Pyso and everyone else blocked her.
"Pleace Miss Tharja! He's not at all what you think …. Please let me be right."
Tharja glared at Tingle one more time. "Fine …. But if I or anyone find him doing something ….. wrong. I'll splatter his blood throughout this building."
Tharja walked away. "Come on, Billy. Just stay away from that."
Billy looked at Tingle and back at Tharja. "I don't get it."
Pyso sighed when the two left. "Tingle, what did I tell you about approaching children?"
Tingle did a little dance. "I don't see the problem with making friends with children."
Everyone just stared at Tingle. "Hey, he looks familiar." said Groose.
"No figure." said Sonic before he sighed with relief.
Tingle hopped away. "See you all in the battle!"
Sonic's eyes widen and his heart sank. "Please don't make him a fighter!"
Pyso felt really gloomy. "That decision is Master Hand's only. But he did have thoughts about him or the Demon Lord that helped the Death Mask Master.
Mach Rider looked around the hall. "So that's it, just a misunderstanding about Tingle? I would have had the same idea as her."
That's when Pyso noticed Mach Rider and they awkwardly stared at each other.
"Pyso, he was giving me a ride back after I was making commercial and giving a sick Metagross a checkup." said Bexter.
Pyso looked at Bexter and stroked his beard. "Oh, well then. Thank you, Mach Rider."
"You're welcome. I have to get back to my job now." Mach Rider put his laser gun away and walked out."
Pyso looked back at the rabbit. "Now then; Bexter, the Pokemon will need feeding before today's match starts. Come on."
Pyso and Bexter walked away, leaving our heroes.
"Man, that Tingle guy was creepy. But I can't shake the feeling that I've seen him before." said Groose.
"I usually avoid that creep." said Sonic. "So anyways, sounds like the Mach Rider was from another world."
"Well aren't we all?" asked Groose.
Sonic looked up at Groose. "True, but I didn't see him around the place before. Also Pyso didn't seem too familiar with him." Sonic began thinking to himself.
"Something bothering you?" asked Groose.
Sonic broke from his concentration. "Nothing, let's just wait around till Link's match starts."
Outside, Mach Rider had already drove off the Smash Bros. Headquarters courtyard and into the wilderness. He was talking to the shadowy figure on the screen. "You fool, did anyone discovered you're from another world?!"
Mach Rider recalled his small conversation with Sonic. "I told the hedgehog about my world, but I don't think he thought much of it. He's surrounded by people from other worlds."
The shadowy figure pounded his fists on a table. "Don't openly reveal yourself again! Especially to anyone at the Headquarters! Not even Master Hand's little staff."
"Alright, I won't." Mach Rider pressed some buttons. "Here's the scans I'd took of the Desert and Jungle. I haven't found a single trace of the target. Are you sure it's even on this land?"
The shadowy figure snarled. "I'm sure of it. Now go, I do not want any more time wasted." The shadowy figure logged out.
Mach Rider was getting annoyed by his client, but then he looked back at the Headquarters and drove off … until the motor started making strange noises. "Huh!?" The motorcycle began slowing down and smoke shot out of the hood. The Mach Rider hopped out and checked the bike. "Are you serious?! I just had this inspected!" He checked the hood and smoke came out. After it cleared, he checked the engine and everything seemed fine. "Maybe something's wrong with the exhaust pipes?"
Mach Rider looked closely at the pipes. "Something stuck in here." He picked up a stick and poked an object, then a strange purple slug poured out. "What is that!?" Mach Rider jumped away as the slug kept pouring and pouring as it gives off a terrible stench. "I … I've never seen anything like this! I'm gonna be sick."
When the slug stopped pouring, the sludge pile suddenly formed a face. "Grimer!"
Mach Rider immediately took out his laser gun in fear. "What are you!?"
He was going to shoot, but then someone called out. "Wait!" Bexter hopped between them. "Grimer, I told you to not to leave the Ranch again and to not go into something like this, bad girl!"
"Grimer." The Grimer said in a sad tone
"Come on, back to the ranch!" Bexter kneeled left and saw the cycle. "And where's …." Then the cycle drove on its own and crashed into the tree. "There's Rotom." Right then a red electric ghost Pokemon appeared.
Mach Rider was completely lost in words.
(Moments later)
Mach Rider had his head in his hands as Snailer pulled the motorcycles remains into this workshop. "Don't sweat it, I'll fix this ….. which have a mind of its own?"
"No." Mach Rider answered miserably.
"I'm on it!" shouted Snailer as Pyso entered the scene.
"How unfortunate for you. Looks like you can't keep your schedule."
Mach Rider groaned at Pyso. "Well my client will have to wait around till that's fixed."
Pyso rubbed his head. "If he gets in contact with us, I'll tell him everything." Pyso's purple face turned red with anger as he turned to the Grimer and Rotom while Vanellope was warning the Rotom not to go near her kart.
"I've told Bexter to not give you any treats for the week. Understand?"
The Pokemon nodded yes and walked back to the Ranch.
Pyso sat down next to Mach Rider. "I can't handle this right now, I have a battle to host."
Mach Rider patted Pyso on the shoulder. "It won't be so bad, like the time I drank mouth wash."
Pyso glared at Mach Rider and found that he had gained a hundred pounds and that another Mach Rider was sitting beside him. "Peter!"
"Meep Meep!" Peter then stick out his tongue multiple times and ran off as Pyso give chase.
Mach Rider was left alone. "So now I'm on break, I guess I can relax and watch a fight. Let's see if they have what it takes."
Elsewhere; Link and Shantae had just finished their training. Sweat ran down their face as they gulped their water bottles dry. "Link, I think we're ready." Shantae sighed from exhaustion.
"Yes, we need to save our energy now. We have a few hours left." Link and Shantae exit the training stage and walked down the hall to get something to eat. "So besides our fight; Shulk will fight Bison, then Peter and GlaDOS will fight Ralph and Ghostslayer."
"And if we win, we'll fight whoever win those battles." added Shantae. "We may have to fight each other."
Link knew this ever since he realized that they will fight girls. "Don't worry, if that happens…" But Shantae interrupted him.
"Don't go polite on me on the battlefield! You'll most likely get beaten. That includes when we fight Tharja."
Link again realized that Tharja is a girl. "Oh yeah, well Sonic did say that a princess once fought in this. So I guess I could still fight her."
"Could?" Shantae narrowed her eyes at Link. "Keep it together." The two eventually ran into Mach Rider. "He's new." pointed out Shantae.
Mach Rider noticed the two coming toward him. "Hey, I'm the Mach Rider."
Link examined the Mach Rider's outfit and thought it looks weird. "I'm Link."
"And I'm Shantae. We're in a team battle coming up. Are you a new Assist Trophy?"
Mach Rider sat up. "No, but he is." Mach Rider pointed with his thumb at Tingle. Both Link and Shantae's faced turned blue from the look of Tingle.
Tingle waddled over and looked up at Link. "Hello, boring grownup." Link and Shantae took a few steps back.
"Keep an eye on him!" called out Tharja from somewhere else.
Tingle took a few steps forward. "Wait, I remember you. You're the old Link. What happened to you and your much better self's statue and trophies?"
"My what?" asked Link right before Sonic rushed over and kicked him toward a row of statues with four spots empty
"He's crazy!" said Sonic right before Groose came by.
"What was he saying?" asked Groose.
"Just ignore him. Lunch's ready!" Sonic took Groose, Link, Shantae, and Mach Rider into the eatery and away from Tingle pulling himself out of a potted plant.
Sonic pushed them onto seats at a table and told the waiter to just give them chili-dogs. He then ran over to a staff member and whispered something into this ear. He ran back and sat down. "So anyways, let's forget what Tingle said and talk about something else."
Shantae and Groose became confused while Link sighed from the fact Sonic is hiding something.
Everyone was silent for a moment until Groose spoke. "So Link, think you'll lose?"
Link smiled. "Not really. I think Shantae and I could beat Billy Hatchet, but Tharja will give us a problem."
Shantae agreed. "We just have to keep that egg away from Billy, but also we have to watch out for Tharja's magic."
Sonic remembered something from Tharja's fight with Jigglypuff. "Don't forget that she's not good at jumping. So you can use that as an advantage."
Shantae was very pleased. "Thanks, Sonic. Now I hope we can survive long enough to throw Tharja off three times."
"Five times!" said Bexter hopping by.
"Five!?" Shantae shouted in shock before sloughing down. "This if going to be harder than I thought."
"Well at least we'll have five stocks too." added Link.
"I don't think it's enough." Shantae said while smiling at him.
Groose wasn't very pleased by how Link and Shantae get along. "So Link, did anything happen out of the ordinary?" Groose asked in order to find out if anything happened between them.
"You mean what Sonic was talking about?" asked Link.
"Sonic?"
Sonic took noticed of this. "Oh, that. I was having a strange feeling that something's going on." He whispered to the table.
"What do you mean?" asked Mach Rider whom Sonic forgot about.
"Oh, well I haven't seen Mario, Kirby, or the rest of the usual around here, not even Master Hand. That's all."
"Master Hand? He's probably looking for more fighters for this tournaments." said Mach Rider, seeming a bit concerned.
"That wouldn't be it, Mach Man. He'll do his shopping before the tournaments. I doubt he'll ever go DLC."
"What does that mean?" asked Groose.
"I have no idea." Sonic turned to Link and Shantae. "So now that we're on the subject, anything weird happened to you guys."
Link and Shantae looked at each other. "Well Link told me that you were suspicious, and actually I was having this strange feeling." Shantae looked around. "Very recently in the hallways and main lobby, I felt that I was being watched."
Groose rubbed his chin. "You know what, me too."
Mach Rider rested his arm in the chair. "That will be security cameras. They watch the hallways and record footage for any problems like robbery or physical harm."
"What's a camera?" asked Link, Groose, and Shantae.
"That's not it." said Sonic. "No one ever tried anything in this place. Not even Bowser or Ganondork. Miss spelling intended by the way." Sonic took a moment to think about it. "Well, if that's all you guys got, than this conspiracy is still too questionable."
The waiter arrived and gave them each a chilidog. "Halt the conversation and enjoy!" Sonic began chowing down as everyone else looked at their food.
"What is it?" asked Groose.
Mach Rider opened up the mouth part of his helmet and took a bite. "Just try it."
Groose, Link, and Shantae picked it up and took one bite. Unfortunately, the spiciness caused them to turn red and breathed fire "WATER!" The three ran out and gulped down a mug of ice cold water at Sims Avatar and Green Knight's table.
"Forgot to warn them." said Sonic.
Mach Rider finished his chilidog and looked at the clock. "Those two better get ready, the fight will start soon." He walked out of the eatery, leaving Sonic puzzled.
"I hope that discussion with him won't cause problem." Sonic thought to himself.
Fox and Jigglypuff walked by and noticed the Mach Rider walking out. "Was that the Mach Rider?" asked Fox.
Sonic turned to Fox. "You know him?"
"No." Fox folded his arms. "He had a trophy of himself during the Melee tournament. Nobody really met him. People who were modeling for trophies hardly ever meet the fighters; or even leave their home world. Master Hand will normally have a sculpture travel the worlds and do that for people and landscapes. Is he an Assist?"
"I'd asked the same question." Sonic looked back at the door. "But what is he doing here if he's from another world?"
In the hallway, Mach Rider was thinking to himself. "Looks like Sonic's onto what Mr. Mystery Man is up to." Mach Rider then thought of something else, something very important. "But why haven't my client mentioned that?" Mach Rider became very concerned as he walked into the auditorium.
Later on, everyone had gathered in the auditorium to watch the battle. Pyso was on stage with Link, Shantae, Billy Hatcher, and Tharja.
"Welcome all to the start of the second rounds! In this case, all fighters will have five stocks!"
In the audience; Peter, Shulk, the Green Knight, Fox, and the Ghost Slayer cheered for Link and Shantae. On the other hand; Vanellope and Jigglypuff cheered for Tharja and Billy.
"I'm neutral for this one!" cheered Sonic.
Link and Shantae were excited for their fight (and frighten for Shantae) as Billy felt the same. Tharja didn't really care.
The portal opened and Pyso wished them all luck before jumping in.
The four landed in a new Stage, Giant Palace, from a world connected to Billy's. There's a large round area in the middle. Three rings floating in midair at the center and two on the edge. The background showed white buildings that held some eggs and strange bird creatures incased with eggs. Some of the rings can be shown with three other children using them to jump up.
"The Giant Palace." Billy said with aww.
Tharja looked around and noticed that she could use the rings on the edge to lift herself up. "Good."
Shantae also saw this. "This won't be good."
Link calmed her down and told her not to worry. "You just have to keep fighting, she won't actually kill us."
Shantae took a deep breath. "O.K. I'm ready!"
3…2….1….GO!
Billy's Egg appeared right in the middle of the stage. "Alright, Link, time to show you what I-" But then Tharja ran pass Billy and attacked Link who ran right toward the egg.
"Keep that egg safe, you're weak without it!" shouted Tharja right before using Nosferatu on Link.
Billy grabbed the egg while Shantae blocked Tharja's next attack. "I'll handle her!" said Shantae with a hint of fear.
Tharja smiled at Shantae's determination. "Don't bother hiding your fear."
Shantae gulped as Link jumped over her and into a ring. The ring held onto Link, but he didn't feel trapped. Link struggled a bit (pressed A) and he was shot out of the ring. Link then used his stab attack toward Billy and made a huge blow on the egg.
Billy took the egg and used his Egg Spin attack to bounce around Link. Link took some damage and rolled away from Billy, but the boy used his Egg roll attack and charged at Link. Link blocked it with his shield and it shrank by half.
With Tharja and Shantae; Tharja blocked Shantae's fire ball with her Wilderwind attack and blew Shantae a foot away. "That wind's strong, but doesn't hurt."
Shantae jumped over and kicked Tharja in the face.
Tharja felt her head. "So that's how you want it."
Shantae's face turned pale with fear. "Heh, well try my Special Side attack!"
Tharja chuckled in her sinister way. "You mean you spinning around with your hair and-" Tharja was caught off guard when Shantae took out a sword and charged at her. Tharja grunted in pain. "What happened?"
Shantae drew the sword back and smiled. "Oh, that? Remember what Pyso said about checking our emails?"
"Our what?" asked Tharja.
"I don't know what an e-mail is either? I haven't seen a single mail box." said Shantae. "But turns out we can change our special attacks by seeing Pyso himself. My new Side Special attack is 'Pirate Charge'. I don't like the name either."
Tharja found this very interesting. "Really? What other attacks can you change?" she asked while getting closer to Shantae.
"Well instead of Fire Ball, I can have a Flamethrower. Oh, and with Teleport I can sprout Harpy wings and-" But then Tharja placed something on her head and blew her away with Winderwind.
Shantae was about to fall off, but used the rings to get her back. "Hey! Why'd you do that for?" Then she felt something sticky on her head and found that Tharja and placed a Gooey Bomb on her. "What the-"
BOOM!
"I didn't even get to say Heck!"
Shantae was blown off stage, but used her teleport move to get back up.
Tharja felt annoyed by this, but still taught Shantae a lesson. "You'll have to pay more attention to the fight. I know about your naive nature and Link's kind heart. They will distract you of-"
(Shantae: 5 / Link: 5 / Tharja: 5 / Billy Hatcher: 4)
Tharja slowly turned around and saw Link holding a new modeled Home-run bat. "He said that crows were in the palace and felt worried." said Link feeling awkward.
Billy Hatcher returned and saw how angry Tharja was. "Sorry!"
Then they all heard Pyso. "Please ignore the crows, they're under watch."
Tharja turned her attention back to Billy. "I already explained it to the genie; you'll have to pay attention to everything. Like this."
Without turning around, Tharja used her Archthunder attack up at Shantae who was about to strike from above. Shantae was blown toward the top and fell in the background.
(Shantae: 4 / Link: 5 / Tharja: 5 / Billy Hatcher: 4)
Link shot an arrow at Tharja and threw a bomb at Billy's egg and cracked it. Link rushed in and slashed at Billy before Tharja shot him with a Ray Gun multiple times. Link was about to go over the stage until Shantae attacked Tharja from below.
Shantae grabbed Tharja and threw her to the ground, and then used her Pike Ball attack on Billy Hatcher.
Billy's egg appeared again and Billy rushed right toward it. Shantae beat him to it and attacked it, but Billy found a Star Rod and attacked Shantae. He took back the egg and ran over her.
Link was going to slash him, but Tharja jumped in front of him and used her Dying Blaze move to block Link. Then Billy jumped and used his egg throw attack on Link. Shantae then grabbed Billy and threw him toward the opposite direction.
Tharja turned and attacked Shantae, but Link grabbed Tharja, dealt some damage, and threw her to the ground.
A Pokeball appeared and Billy quickly grabbed it. "Let's see who's inside!" Billy threw the Pokeball near Link and an Unown came out. It flew away, and a group of them came flying, attacking both Link and Shantae.
A Hammer appeared next to Tharja and she had the most sinister smile. "This will be fun." Tharja grabbed the hammer and launched Link and Shantae out of the stage
(Shantae: 3 / Link: 4 / Tharja: 5 / Billy Hatcher: 4)
Link and Shantae returned and the hazards stopped. "Now I'm mad!" said Shantae while hopping off the platform.
When Link and Shantae landed, the stage rose a bit. The stage and its three rings floated upwards as the two rings on the side remained still.
"The stage's changing. Careful Shantae." warned Link as he jumped into a ring. Tharja and Billy did the same and they launched toward each other. Link landed a downward blow on Tharja and then Billy attacked Link with his egg. Tharja landed on the ground while Link and Billy continued their aerial battle.
Shantae shot a Fire Ball toward Tharja with a direct hit, then she ran over and kicked her. Tharja grunted and used Nosferatu on Shantae to regain health.
Then out of nowhere, an Assist Trophy appeared. Shantae was about to grab it, but Billy landed right on her and Tharja took it. "You better not be who I think it is."
The capsule opened to review Tingle.
Tharja snarled in anger, but then ran in front of Billy. "I'm watching you!" Tharja warned Tingle. Tingle did a little dance that made Tharja want to hurt him, and then a bunch of banana peels appeared and the man-child disappeared. "What's this?"
Tharja and Billy slipped on the banana peels, and then Shantae threw a Bob-omb at Billy's egg and cracked it, which contained some food. Billy looked over at Shantae as she taunted with a Belly Dance. "Bye!" Shantae waved and then jumped onto the ring. Link was standing behind her with a fully charged Super Scope. Link fired it, but Billy dodged it, and the ball hit Tharja and sent her off the stage. Tharja was going to use the ring to get back up, but the stage had risen too high and they were no longer there.

Tharja returned and saw that it was now sunset. The three rings from before moved away and were replaced by two platforms. Two new rings appeared at the bottom corners of the stage facing diagonal toward the stage.
Billy was rolling around Shantae and Link and raised their percentages by 40. Tharja joined in and threw a green shell toward them. Link and Shantae jumped over it and Link used his Spin attack to strike Billy.
An explosive crate appeared and Link threw a bomb at it to help get it ready. Then Tharja got the same idea and used her Dying Blaze attack only once. She dashed over and took hold of Link and threw him near it.
A Superspicy Curry appeared near Billy. Billy abandoned his egg and took the food. "Ahhhh, hot hot!" Billy shot fire balls out of his mouth and ran toward Link. Tharja kept Link where he was and Shantae was stuck by the fire.
Link managed to get Tharja close to her right when Billy was landing the final blow. "No you idiot!"
The crate exploded and sent the three flying off the stage.

The stage rose higher and Shantae saw a giant egg. "Woah, what laid that?!"
The sunset turned to night and the rings and platforms moved away. The bottom part of the stage opened up to reveal a new level, with long platforms attacked on each side and a ring to get them back on top. The new floor also had an Emblem of Courage and Billy's three friends cheering.
("They look awfully familiar." said Sonic.)
Link, Billy, and Tharja returned. Tharja looked at the horizon and saw something. She dashed passed Billy and Link and landed on the new floor. "I'll take care of her." said Shantae.
Shantae entered from the other side and was almost attacked by a Bumper. Tharja got close to use her Nosferatu attack, but Shantae protected herself with her Pike ball move. Shantae ran into the bumper and was pushed toward Tharja where she attacked with her Nosferatu with a direct hit. Shante got away and found a Team Healer. "This will only be good if I threw it at Link, but he's up there." But then they all heard a loud caw. "What was that?"
Tharja smiled. "I knew that will be something, deadly."
On the top floor, Billy and Link had raised their percentages real high. Billy was going to use his Egg Throw attack while on the ground, but Pyso's voice spoke
("Billy, what you are about to see is not your enemy from long ago. He is a creation from plenty of Crows")
"What ene …!" Billy froze when he looked up. Link took a look and saw a giant Crow covered in a black aura like energy. "Dark Raven!?"
Dark Raven got his claws ready and flew toward the heroes. Billy snapped out of it right before it attacked him. Link dodged the bird too and ran to where Shantae was. Shantae threw the Team Healer at Link and regained health.
Billy was going to jump down, but the Dark Raven swooped in from the side and cracked the egg. Billy stepped back and saw that the Dark Raven was getting closer to him with each attack. "I'm too slow without my egg. I hope it comes back."
Luckily for Billy's sake; his egg did not return, but a Bunny Hood appeared on the stage. Billy grinned widely and ran toward it, but then Shantae used the ring and jumped onto the hood. "Sorry!" Shantae grabbed the item and ran back under with incredible speed.
"Hey, I was gonna get that!" Then the Dark Raven swooped down and knocked Billy off the stage.

Back with Tharja and Link, Tharja had the metal powers from a Metal Block and Link was duel wielding with his Crimson Master Sword and a Beam Sword. Link was dealing multiple attacks, but Tharja's metal body protected her from raising the hit percentage higher. Tharja got close and used her Dying Blaze attack on Link.
"This metal body is very defensive, but it's too slow." Tharja mumbled to herself. Then Shantae came in running with the Bunny Hood and jumped round Tharja. "And of course this will happen."
Tharja fired an Archthunder upwards, but missed Shantae. Shantae found a Pit Fall and threw it at Tharja to get her stuck to the ground. Shantae ran in front of Link and posed. "So how was I?"
Link couldn't help but blushed by Shantae's appearance with the Bunny Hood. "Well, I-"
But then Billy returned with his egg. "Don't worry, I'll help!" Billy rolled toward two as Tharja got herself out. Shantae jumped over, but Link was stuck. Tharja then grabbed Link and threw him outside with Billy.
Shantae's Bunny Hood disappeared and was faced with Tharja alone. "Shesh, I'm stuck with her again ….. are those kids going to say anything?" Shantae glanced at the kids, and back at Tharja. "Well I'm not going to hold back!"
The two began fighting, but then a Final Smash appeared. Everyone instinctively ran toward it and saw that it was on the top area now.
Link used the ring and jumped toward it as Billy did the same. The Dark Raven was still swooping around the floor, but Link dodged the attacks to get the power of the Final Smash. Billy did the same and bounced over the Dark Raven.
The Final Smash needed one more hit to be released, but then Billy Hatcher threw his egg at it and gained its power.
A glowing light from above spoke to Billy and a powerful Aura surrounded him. Billy had unleashed the power of his Courage.
Billy summoned eggs of pure light at fill and used them to strike Link. Using multiple combos, Billy was able to launch Link off the stage, with a little help from the Dark Raven to land the final blow.

"Good Morning!" Billy taunted as his Final Smash powers disappeared. Suddenly two arrows from each side appeared pointing into the second bottom floor. Link returned and they both knew that they had to get in there. They jumped down, but unfortunately they got trapped in the rings and could only launch themselves up. Doors closed the entrances and the sound of a rooster crowing brought forth the sun. Then the stage suddenly dropped down, leaving Link and Billy behind.

When the stage reached its original spot, red arrows pointed out and the two girls ran outside and quickly jumped on the stage. The room closed up, the stage lowered some more, the rings remained on the side and the three original rings appeared in the center of the stage.
All four fighters stood motionless. Tharja and Billy were winning the fight. Link only has one stock remaining. A single sweat drop ran down Link's cheek. He watched the two carefully for their next move.
Tharja held her book tight and Billy had his egg ready. "So taking you out next will make this quicker?" said Tharja. "I'll finish you all, or you can do me a favor and finish us off."
"What!?" shouted Billy Hatcher.
"I haven't spied on Robin for over a week. But on the other hand, I must win to make him proud." Link and Shantae looked at each other with confusion. "Yes, Yes. Robin will like me winning. Die now."
Tharja ordered Billy to charge at them. Shantae and Link jumped onto the rings to get away. When they jumped out, Tharja moved under them to us Archthunder. The lightning bolt shot right up to Shantae, but she dodged the attack. Link quickly aimed his sword at Tharja, but Billy jumped up while rolling to hit Link.
Shantae and Tharja attacked with their magic until a Cucoo appeared. "A chicken?"
The Cucoo walked toward Tharja and pecked the ground. Shantae shot a fire ball toward Tharja, but it instead hit the chicken. "Sorry!"
The Cucoo ran away toward Billy Hatcher who was not holding a Home-Run Bat. "Pay back!" He was getting the bat ready, but Link dodged it and instead Billy hit the Cucoo. "Oh no! I'm sorry!" Billy felt ashamed for hitting a chicken. "Can you hear me?!"
Suddenly the chicken turned red and crowed. Shantae, Tharja, and Link could only watch the horror that fell Billy. A horde of Cucoos appeared and began attacking Billy.
"Ahhhh, help me!" Billy dropped the Home-Run Bat and ran off the stage. He fell into the ring and jumped up away from the Cucoos. "I got to get away from them somehow!"
Then Billy saw Link at the edge, holding the Home-Run Bat. "Forgive me for this." Link shot Billy off the stage and the Cucoos retreated.

Moral of the story, don't mess with Cucoos. Expect for Twilight Princess. You can control them for a short time.
Tharja growled with anger. "Again?!" The next item that appeared was a Super Mushroom that Tharja took. She grew large and charged right at Link. Link knew that she'll just trap him if he just jumped into the ring, so he rolled away as Shantae covered him.
Billy returned and he saw Shantae and Link firing projectiles at the large Tharja. "I didn't think they'll be this tough." Then another Super Mushroom appeared. He took it before Shantae or Link could get it, but if only Billy knew that it was actually a Poison Mushroom. Billy shrank down, including the egg, and was pretty much helpless.
Billy was attacked by Shantae's Pike Ball which blocked Tharja. But she jumped over it and landed in the ring, while still big. "This better not." She shot herself upward, almost knocking herself out. "Close one."
"Not really!" Another Hammer appeared and Shantae took it, jumped into the ring, and shot herself at Tharja, knocking her out of the stage.

Billy backed off from where Shantae was landing, only to be stuck by a charged attack by Link. Billy was flung toward Shantae and was stuck out of the stage.
"Are you serious?!" asked Tharja.
Billy Hatcher defeated
Tharja was left alone against Link and Shantae. Tharja sighed. "I knew that kid didn't have enough experience, especially in a two on two match." Tharja looked at Link and Shantae with a fierce glare.
A barrel appeared next to Shantae. "Link; if this breaks, be ready!" Shantae threw the barrel toward Tharja. She used here Dying Blaze attack to and broke the barrel. Two Max Berries, a Motion-Sensor Bomb, and a new item called the X-Bomb. Tharja took the Max Berries so Link and Shantae won't restore themselves just in case, and grabbed the X-Bomb. Link managed to take the Motion-Sensor Bomb before getting away from Tharja.
"Let's see how you'll handle this. Tharja threw the bomb toward them. Link told Shantae to jump onto the ring as he prepared himself. The Bomb exploded in an X shape which would have been very powerful. Shantae returned and warned Link that the stage is rising again.
The two rings sank down and the three other rings began to disappear. Tharja rushed over and attacked Link. Link blocked the next attack with a shield, but Tharja grabbed him and threw him the other way. Shantae used here Pirate Charge and tackled Tharja. Tharja used a charge upwards attack, but Shantae and Link both attacked her. Then Tharja used Dying Blaze to burn them both.
Link rolled away and saw that Tharja was heading toward him. When the platforms appeared, Link jumped onto them and Tharja chased him around. Shantae was going to help, but Link told her not to.
"Being a gentle man, Link?" asked Tharja. "I know when the enemy is planning something. Tharja attacked Link under the right platform, but then Link grabbed Tharja.
"You got me, I was planning something. Remember the Motion-Sensor Bomb?" Tharja's eyes light up. "Yeah, I figured I'll plant it somewhere so you get in contact with it, but I didn't plant it on the ground."
Tharja looked around and didn't see the item, until she looked up. "So that's your plan."
Link then threw Tharja upward and the explosion sent them both out. Link and Tharja missed the diagonal facing rings and Link was K. !"

Shantae couldn't believe that Link would do that. "Wow, he's smarter than I thought."
When Tharja returned, Shantae could help the fear grow inside her.
"So Link made a noble sacrifice. If this wasn't a game, you would have died." Tharja held out her hand and a dark aura appeared around it. "So now we're left. The men, well man and boy, couldn't last very long. How about we show them how powerful out magic really is?"
Shantae gulped and clenched her hands. "Come on, Shantae. She's not allowed to summon demons …. I hope she follows the rule."
Sunset has already started and the rings and platforms began moving. Shantae jumped onto one of them and Tharja got under her for the Archthunder attack. Shantae teleported away and landed on the third platform. She jumped down and rolled next to Tharja and attacked her with her hair multiple times ending with a finishing blow.
Tharja felt her face where Shantae whipped her. She then shot Nosferatu at her and regain health. Next Tharja used Wilderwind to push Shantae so she can get a Max Tomato that appeared. Shantae shot a Fire Ball and stuck Tharja off the stage.
Tharja jumped two times to reach the edge. She picked herself up, remember her terrible recovery. "I can only jump three times. When the night comes, I'll have my advantage."
The sun finally set and the second room appeared, along with the rings and platforms next to it.
Tharja jumped down and Shantae followed her. As the Dark Raven swooped down, Tharja and Shantae raised each other's hit percentage quite high. The two felt tired and began panting. Shantae couldn't help but smile. "You seem happy."
Shantae grinned at Tharja. "I remember your fight with Jigglypuff. You can only jump two times. I have to knock you out far away."
A crate appeared and Tharja opened it. Much of their surprise, it contained several Smart Bombs. Both their eyes light up. They knew of their destructive powers. The two grabbed one and Tharja threw hers first. Shantae threw the other on in fear, but was caught by both of their attacks. Shantae was shot off the stage as Tharja took another while running away from the chain of explosions

The chain forced Tharja up on top of the stage where the Dark Raven was attacking. Shantae returned and was invincible to the Raven's attack, for a short period. Tharja had to rolled toward the bird to dodge the attack.
When the bombs cleared, Tharja jolted to the floor, but Shantae shot a Fire Ball at her and ran in front of her. "I can spare another stock, but you can't." Shantae's fear melt, by only a bit. She wanted to Keep Tharja away from the safe area. Tharja knew what she was doing.
"Using the bird to help fight me and keeping me away from the safe room. What a good tactician you are." But then her face turned red and as she placed her hand on her cheeks. "But not as good as Robin. I know his skills better than anyone else. Then after studying, he falls asleep for 9 hours and turn three times on Tuesdays."
Shantae felt very disturbed by this. "Does Robin know you're stoking him!?"
Shantae's bashful eyes suddenly turned serious. "Yes, but I know something else you don't!"
Shantae didn't know what she was talking about, until she realized she had forgotten about the Dark Raven. Before she could react, the Dark Raven attacked from behind and she was flown to the edge of the stage. Tharja saw the Raven coming and rolled under it.
When the Raven returned to the sky, Shantae got up and saw the disturbing smile of Tharja. "I also learned from Robin and gained my own strategy."
Shantae noticed a certain item appearing behind her. "If Robin knows that you spy on him regularly, then why would he teach you?"
Tharja's cheek turned red. "Because of this." Tharja held her hands out. "After a while of conversations and knowing each other, it all lead to this."
Shantae's eyes widened. "Is that a wedding ring?!"
"Yes it is!"
("Fuuuuuuuuu(BEEPBEEPBEEPBEEP)" shouted Peter Griffin.)
Shantae's eyes turned into puppy dogs eyes. "I don't believe it! How did he fall in love with you?"
"Well he'd gotten used to my dark ways. He eventually was allured to me and proposed."
("Make it stop! Please!")
"Amazing. So from then on you two have a wonderful marriage where you take care of each other while I unleash this Assist Trophy and head to the safe room."
Tharja's face turned redder. "Yes, I knew it was destined when we ….. wait!" Tharja snapped out of it and saw the arrows pointing into the room and Shantae unleashing Groose from the Trophy.
"Good, I'm not tackling Link!"
Groose ran over and tackled Tharja. "You idiot!" Tharja shouted at Groose. She turned to Shantae.
"Sorry, I wanted to see if your own trick will work on you!" Shantae jumped into the room before it closed. The stage dropped down without Tharja, or Groose.
Tharja snarled for her defeat while her ears felt like their bleeding from Groose's screamed.
Game!
Shantae was belly dancing and Link was drawing his sword as Tharja and Billy clapped in the background.
The winners are: Link and Shantae
All of Link and Shantae's friends cheered when they returned. "I did it, Link!" Shantae hugged Link and their faced got close, which made the warrior blush. "Yeah, you did."
Billy felt ashamed that he'd gotten himself K. during the fight, but Tharja was not angry at him one bit.
"Please, I was doing only what I was supposed to do!" pleaded Groose as Tharja glared at him. She was about to say something, but then Shantae patter her on the back.
"That was a good fight, right?" Tharja turned to Shantae. She was about so speak, but Shantae starts begging. "Please, the fight was just for fun! I didn't mean to use your strategy! Please don't summon ghosts to haunt me!"
Tharja took a deep breath. "Relax. I only summon those for when someone like that blonde guy from yesterday talked to me, or if Peter did something stupid. Also, I … enjoyed out fight." Shantae noticed Tharja hiding a smile.
"Good, I'd enjoyed it too."
Vanellope then nudged Shantae on the leg. "You have mine and Ashley's respect." Vanellope turned to Ashley. "Say hi, Ashley!"
Ashley, standing in the background, just waved slowly.
"She reminds me of me." said Tharja with a smile.
Pyso took everyone's attention. "Our winners are Shantae and Link! In two days, Shulk and M. Bison will fight alone, then the next two days we'll have Wreck-it Ralph and Ghostslayer vs. Peter and GLaDOS! Until then, train and continue to grow stronger!"
At night, everyone entered the eatery to get something to eat. Link and Shantae became the center of attention. They all talked about how great they're doing and Mother Brian was using her floating camera orb machines to take pictures.
"That was brilliant when you used that Motion-Sensor Bomb." Shulk said to Link.
"I thought that since I only have one stock, I'll use it up to make sure Tharja loses at least one." Link said. Shantae then nudged him with her elbow.
"And leaving me out there to fend for myself?"
Link felt the back of his head. "Sorry .. heh."
Shantae rolled her eyes. "I hope someone told you not to be too risky in the tournament."
Link then thought back about Zelda. "She sure did."
Link was lost in his thoughts, until Groose grabbed his shoulder. "You said it, Shulk! Link's the smartest guy here! Next to me, of course."
Shulk smiled. "If you say so."
Then Riki jumped onto the table. "You wrong! Hom-Hom Shulk knows more stuff than you!"
"Riki!"
They all started laughing, until Peter spoke. "Ahem, I believe that I'm the more intelligent one around here." Nothing but silence filled the air for ten seconds.
"Anyways; do you believe you can win against M. Bison?" Link asked Shulk.
"Bison? I have to say that he's going to be difficult to beat. I'm not sure if I can handle him."
Riki was surprised by this. "But Shulk beat all kinds of monsters and Dino-beasts! Muscle Hom-Hom don't stand a chance!"
"Dinosaurs?" asked Peter in a childish voice.
Shulk tried settling Riki down. "Yes I did, actually you and the rest of our friends helped me. This isn't the same kind of fighting we usually do."
Riki puffed himself up. "Don't be that way. I know you can win!" He jumped off the table and walked to M. Bison's table. "You hear that! Hom-Hom Shulk will win!"
Bison looked down at Riki. "We'll see about that."
"Or do you want us to screw up his love life too because you are too lazy to check if he currently has powers?" GLaDOS whispered to M. Bison.
"You will not ruin Shulk's love life!" shouted Riki which caught everyone's attention.
"Love what?" asked Bison without hesitating.
"I am only playing along." said GLaDOS.
"Good." M. Bison thought to himself.
Shulk told Riki that he should just cheer him on only at the battle. "O.K.!"
After dinner; Link and Shantae's popularity died down and they all decided to go to sleep.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Link." said Shantae. "We should really hang out more."
Link slowly waved as Sonic and Peter joined him.
"Well now you're still ahead." said Sonic. "Think you'll beat everyone, including Bison unless if Shulk beats him?"
"Well I can still try. It's only a competition after all." explained Link.
"Want me to plant bombs around the building that will only go off if Bison wins?" asked Peter. The two only glared at him. "What?"
Sonic patted Peter. "Just do us a favor and not do that?"
Peter felt disappointed and the three walked out. They entered the main hallways and saw Groose, Olimar, and Fox hanging out. Sonic noticed that they were talking to their home world expect for Mach Rider who was just standing.
"Maybe Groose's talking to Zelda." said Link.
"Of course you'll say that." said Peter.
Sonic was getting irritated with Peter's comments. "Can you please move on to another running gag?" asked Sonic.
"Not until I get my five dollar foot long hoagie!"
Sonic and Link looked at Peter. "You do that."
The three walked toward their friends and found that they were telling everyone that Link had won. "You and Shantae did excellent today." said Olimar. "I was telling my family about your battle. They are now fans of yours.
"And My team wants to say good luck." said Fox as he showed Link to his friends.
"Way to go, Link!" cheered Slippy.
"You will do wonderful out there." said Krystal.
"I still can't believe I wasn't invited." Falco complained.
"Do a barrel roll!" said Peppy. "Just kidding. Don't give up!"
Link thanked them for their cheers. He next walked to Groose, but found that he was talking to his two friends. "Hey Link, don't think you can just talk to Zelda only."
Groose's two friends, Cawlin and Strich, waved at Link.
"Hey Link, those soldiers from the Smash world is all of our jobs. It's getting boring." said Cawlin.
"And some of them have very disturbing ideas." Strich pointed the camera toward a stage where the Wire Frames were using Bokoblins as marionettes; the people were not the only ones that were disturbed by this.
"….Well …. After the tournaments I'll be back and they can go back home." Link looked around. "So is Zelda busy?"
"Since she has free times, she's been working on something." explained Strich.
"She didn't say what, but maybe it's a surprise for you." said Cawlin. "If only Karane was making something special for me." He thought to himself.
Link felt a little disappointed. "Well if she's busy, I don't want to disturb her."
Groose laughed. "You kiddin, you could never ruin her moment!"
Link blushed. "I better get to bed. I feel warned out from the fight. Tell Zelda how my match went." Link said good night and walked toward his room.
"So does Link still think that the magic glasses didn't erase his memory of him and Zelda falling in love?" asked Cawlin.
Groose raised his fist in the air. "Yes, and apparently Sonic doesn't remember either. But Sonic promises we'll get that King!"
Sonic did his signature thumbs up. "You can count me in!"
"What King?" asked Falco from the Dimensional Phone.
"The guy that invaded my home world and erased the greatest memory Link and Zelda held!" said Groose.
Cawlin and Strich looked around the room. "Who was that?"
Falco looked around. "I'm Falco, a member of Starfox. They still have the Dimensional phones standing next to each other, right?"
Groose turned his attention to his friends. They were asking if they can meet Falco. "I'll see." Groose turned to Fox. "Is that possible?"
"It is, let me see here." Fox typed a few things on both phones and a small screen of Starfox and Groose's friends popped out on the screen.
"Woah! He is a talking bird." Cawlin and Strich said in aww.
"Don't treat me like some kind of side show." Falco warned the two.
Then some Pikmins jumped onto Fox's shoulder.
"What is that?" asked Cawlin and Strich.
"Those are Pikmins." explained Olimar. "I am Captain Olimar. These plant creature saved my life when I crashed landed on another planet."
"What's a planet?" asked Groose's friends.
Sonic stretched his legs. "We'll I'm going to bed, good night." Sonic walked to his room and the group continued to communicate.
"So how big were the monsters?" asked Groose's friends.
"Very huge. One could easily swallow me whole" explained Olimar. "I lead the Pikmin into battle; truth be told, many of them were lost and I still feel guilty, but the Pikmin seemed to not be affected by it."
"Just like ants!" said Strich
Peppy got close to the camera. "Fox, have Master Hand returned yet?"
Fox told Peppy that they still haven't heard from him yet.
Falco sighed. "First I wasn't invited back, and now Master Hand's still not there. I still don't get why we had to do that."
"Do what?" asked Fox.
Fox's team became silent. Peppy cleared his throat. "Fox; we were told to focus-" But suddenly the screen turned blank.
"Connecton Error."
"What just happened?!" asked Fox. He tried calling his friends again, but nothing worked. "What were they trying to tell me?"
Groose and his friends became frightened. "What just happened, are they O.K.?" asked Groose's friends.
Fox explained that the way they communicate isn't working right now.
"Well do you think something might have happened?" asked Strich.
Fox thought about it. "No, that shouldn't be it. Master Hand always have an eye in case any emergencies might happen."
"But Master Hand's not here. He hasn't returned yet." said Olimar.
"That's right. They were asking about Master Hand before."
Groose then remembered what Sonic was talking about earlier. "What if the conspiracy Sonic was telling me about is true!"
Everyone became shocked. "Conspiracy?" asked Fox. "That's right; Sonic was having a hunch that something's up."
Cawlin and Strich payed close attention to this. "What do you mean?" they asked.
Fox briefly explained that the majority of the original fighters aren't present and that almost everyone's a newcomer.
Groose's friends began worrying for Link and Groose, but soon realized that the Wire Frames are still in their world. "Hey, what if these guys attack us?"
Groose turned angry from the thoughts of the Wire Frames attacking everyone. "I bet that creepy wizard is behind all this! I'll show him to never mess with Groose and his home!"
Cawlin and Strich cheered Groose, but Fox halted him. "Hold it; we don't know a thing. If something's going on, we might make things worse if we act now. I'll talk to Sonic about this tomorrow, you guys should keep this a secret, including your friends and family."
Groose and Olimar looked back at the Dimensional Phones connected to their world.
"Alright, so what about the Wire Frames?" asked Cawlin.
"For now, let them do their job protecting your people. Don't show any signs of threats. But it's good to call us every day so we can get updates."
Groose volunteered to check up on his world.

Everyone agreed and Groose and Olimar's worlds logged off.
As they went to their room for the night, Groose had a strange feeling. He looked behind him and saw nobody. "Strange, thought that somebody was watching us? Must be those things Mach Rider was talking about, camera's was it?"
When Groose turned forward, something small and fast ran passed the hall.
