"Who the hell was that?" Rebekah demanded, announcing her presence.

Marcel flanked her, his eyes widening at Kat who ignored him, all her attention on Klaus.

"You ordered me to remain here," she said. "But if I do, you'll have a whole new problem in the Quarter and she does not discriminate between humans or vampires."

Klaus looked to her, an anger in his eyes that she knew was not directed at her.

"Where is Jay?" he inquired.

"I have no idea," Kat admitted. "She hasn't been herself these past few days and I think her time in the Garden weakened her enough that Ursula was able to take over."

"Before you ask, Ursula is a very powerful traveler who went psychotic when her powers came in."

This from Kat's mysterious friend who'd suddenly popped into view. His eyes were mismatched, the left gold and the right black, the same shade as his hair that was pulled back into a messy ponytail.

"And who?" Klaus asked, getting closer. "Are you?"

"His name is Micah," Kat said quickly, stepping between the two. "He was Garrett's older brother."

"Wait, so if this Garrett was your lover," Rebekah mused. "Does that mean Micah's was Jaiyana's?"

Micah smirked at Kat.

"She's much smarter than first appearances suggest."

"Bad move," Kat hissed as Klaus glared at him fully. Micah returned the glare.

"Katalina, I need you in the Quarter," Klaus finally said. "Your little friend there can go on his witch hunt."

With that Klaus stormed out. In his wake, Kat turned a glare on Micah who returned with a grin.

"That went well," was all he said.

"Awake then?"

Jay smirked.

"I've been awake. The strain from pushing you out just knocked me out."

Her eyes opened fully.

"But I was never asleep."

Ursula grinned.

"Yes, I felt that you were aware of me."

She wasn't the least bit surprised when she was thrown back by an unseen force, hitting the bedroom wall.

"Now that wasn't very nice," she scolded.

"In case you hadn't noticed, I'm not very nice," Jay retorted. "You used me, Ursula. You expect me to be okay with that?"

"Good point," Ursula relented, rising and brushing herself off. "But maybe your attitude towards me will change."

"Doubtful."

Ursula sneered.

"Miguel!" she yelled over her shoulder.

The door opened, as if Miguel had been waiting outside, and in stepped a short man of Hispanic heritage, one of three witches in the group currently staying just outside the Quarter.

"Ursula," he said.

"Tell me Miguel, what's worse than a young witch with control over her powers?" Ursula inquired playfully.

Dread filled Jay as she seemed to realize what Ursula was implying.

"A young witch with little control of her powers?" Miguel replied uncertainly.

Ursula clapped.

"Very good," she praised.

Miguel beamed.

"Now then, that little treasure that sits in the vampire stronghold. I do believe she is overdue for a little cold."

"NO!" Jay roared, leaping to her feet.

She flung herself at Miguel who repelled her with ease.

"Make it happen," Jay heard Ursula demand as she recovered from the shock on the floor.

Miguel left before she could make another move and she turned to Ursula.

"You bitch," she snarled.

Ursula grinned.

"You might want to start being nice to me. It really is in your best interest."

Kat seized hold of Micah, keeping her balance as the earth beneath her feet began to shake.

"Ursula!" Micah instantly assumed.

"No," Kat corrected. "Davina."

"Who?" Micah asked.

"Klaus's tool against the witches. I think I already explained this," Kat chastised. "Someone must not have been listening or else his brain is fried from his first meeting with Niklaus Mikaelson."

She released him, briskly walking away.

"I only half listened," Micah admitted, not at all ashamed.

Kat rolled her eyes, her ears picking up on two familiar voices not far off. Soon, she and Micah would be in sight of them. That she did not want to happen, her arm held out to block Micah's progress. He stopped, silent, also listening.

"Whatever this is, you have to tell me," Kat heard Elijah say.

Her curiosity slowly poked its evil head out of its shell.

"Sophie wanted to find Celeste's remains, so I went through your journals, and I found out where you buried her, and then I told her," Hayley admitted, pausing between each horrible sentence. "I know it was stupid and it was snoopy, And I-I should have just asked you."

There was no reply from Elijah.

"Please say something. Please," Hayley begged.

Elijah took an audible breath.

"She wanted to be left in peace. When a witch's remains are consecrated, that power fuels the rest of their community. Celeste did not want her remains to be found. She made me promise to bury her where she would not be found. You not only violated my privacy, You have broken my promise to her," he finally said.

"We should not be eavesdropping," Micah whispered.

"Yes, well, you should have left already but we don't all do what we're suppose to," Kat retorted, breaking away from the drama that did not involve her.

She faced Micah.

"The only reason you're still here is because you want to see Jay again," she went on.

"You're crazy," Micah decided, turning to leave.

"Am I?" Kat demanded.

She followed him, despite needing to head in the other direction.

"I am only here because Ariel asked me," Micah declared. "She calls Jay a friend and wants me to help you."

"You won't admit that you care about Jay but I know you do."

"It's nice to pretend," Micah called over his shoulder.

Davina only remembered Rebekah putting her to sleep but when she woke up, she wasn't in her room. She was back in that awful cemetery and she wasn't alone. Not too far away as a woman with long black hair and the lightest shade of blue eyes Davina had ever seen.

"Who are you?" she called, nervous.

The woman turned to her, surprised. That made two of them. Slowly, she approached.

"Davina?"

"How do you know my name?" Davina demanded. "And who are you?"

She figured repetition was a good idea. The woman stopped, giving her some space.

"My name is Jaiyana but you can call be Jay," she replied. "And I need your help."

"Katalina."

Kat paused at Rebekah's call, letting the vampire catch up.

"I see your friend isn't with you," Rebekah remarked as they began walking.

"Cut the pleasantries," Kat snapped. "What do you want?"

Rebekah smirked.

"Very well. Jaiyana was once a dear friend of mine," she led with. "And regardless that our relationship is now less than pleasant, I will see no harm come to her."

"You're offering to help me," Kat realized, unable to keep the shock from her face.

Rebekah grinned.

"In exchange," she added. "I want you both to help me."

"Do what?" Kat demanded.

"Look, this Ursula's only trump card is Jay. If we get Jay, she may run off with her tail between her legs."

"But she will come back. And she'll be even more powerful than before," Kat pointed out dryly.

"What if I told you that when she does, you'll have the whole French Quarter backing you?" Rebekah bargained.

Kat stopped, whirling to face Rebekah.

"Do you know that when Ursula was first here, she was 16? At that time, Ariel wasn't old enough to fight her. It took the combined magic of her mother and grandmother, two of the strongest witches of all time, to take Ursula down. And Ariel is even stronger than the two of them combined," she informed her. "I don't need magical backing. I have plenty. What I don't have is the conniving mind of your brother and neither do you. And if I had to choose between the two of you, I would take Niklaus. I may find a dagger in my back but at least I'll be assured that Ursula's not coming back."

With that, she stormed away from Rebekah.

"You're the Deveraux vampire," Davina realized. "I never believe Monique."

"Yes, well, I was quite a burden. The other witches didn't trust them much because of my presence."

"That's why you left the Quarter," Davina said.

"I left the Quarter a lot over the years. I went where witches needed me to kill vampires and werewolves," Jay explained. "I even had a partner but she refused to come to New Orleans so we met up, did a job and parted ways."

"Then why-"

"Marcel doesn't like me much, that's one of the reasons I left for good. The second..."

Jay paused, looking unsettled.

"I was there for the Harvest."

Davina shot to her feet.

"What!? And you didn't stop it?"

"I didn't have the control I do now," Jay admitted. "If I'd tried to stop it, it would not have ended prettily. For that, I am sorry."

Davina looked hysterical.

"I can't... I can't believe this!" she declared. "Why tell me this after you ask for my help?"

"I bet a lot of people have told you they're doing something for your own good, saying that you can trust them. I will not keep anything from you," Jay replied. "But the truth is sometimes very ugly."

She rose, sighing.

"You're waking up," she informed Davina.

"How can you tell?" Davina cried.

"Do not forget me," was all Jay said.

And then she vanished.

"Feel that wind!" Ursula laughed as the house seemed to shake.

The wind she spoke of was a ghostly howl, one that did not alarm Jay but she could feel the unease, even among the witches in the house. Miguel appeared in the doorway.

"Ursula, perhaps I should ease up on the girl," he suggested.

"Nonsense!" Ursula laughed. "We're well away from the Quarter!"

"Not far enough," Jay pointed out.

She smirked.

"You are all going to die," she declared. "What a shame when you've just woken up, Ursie."

Ursula grinned, kneeling before Jay.

"If we die, I intend for you to die as well. With my last strength, I will rip out your heart."

Jay leaned forward, locking eyes with Ursula.

"Bring it on."

"Marcel," Davina said, still hugging him.

"Yes?"

"We need to find Jay."

Marcel's eyes widened at the name. How did Davina know about Jaiyana?

"She came to me in a dream. She says she needs my help," Davina informed him. "And I want to help her."

"Let's focus on helping you first," Marcel suggested.

"And she gave me a number," Davina went on. "She said to call and pass on a message."

Sighing, realizing he was getting nowhere, Marcel handed her his phone, mentally cursing Jay.

Ariel answered the phone immediately.

"Hello?" she gasped. "Kat, Micah, Jay, please be one of you."

"Ariel?"

She didn't recognize the voice.

"Who is this?"

It wasn't Ursula which meant she wasn't in danger of being found.

"My name is Davina," was the reply.

Ariel lowered herself onto her bed.

"Marcel's witch," she realized. "What's wrong?"

"Jay came to me in a dream. She told me that Ursula is holding her hostage and that she doesn't wanting you to astral project her to you. In fact, she wants no contact with you whatsoever."

Ariel sighed deeply.

"Thank you, Davina," she whispered. "You do not know how hard it is to communicate with Jay the way you did. It is not a matter of power but skill. There is a special bond there now. If you can, use it to help Jay as much as possible."

"Okay," was all Davina said.

"Be well," Ariel wished her.

And then she hung up.

"By the river? Nothing more?" Kat demanded.

She knew Micah was once more with her, running behind her, not even trying to hide the fact that he was eavesdropping on her phone conversation.

"No. Now I must go," Elijah said. "There's much work to do."

Kat didn't bother to say goodbye, hanging up just as the rain started. She paused, looking up at the sky. Rain landed in her eye and she wiped it away, looking to Micah.

"That's the third sign," she told him.

"Should we run now?" he asked.

"Micah!" Kat snapped.

"What?"

He held his hands up defensively.

"Vampires don't do well with fire. I suspect the same of hybrids. And I'm not willing to die over this."

"Then don't. I didn't ask you to come with me," Kat snapped.

Her feet finally worked. Her legs were back and though her arms were still numb, she could move them. Jay rose with the silence that only a vampire or a hybrid could manage. Silently, she crept towards the door, the one left open by Ursula who was so careless in her care of her prisoner. The girl had gotten sloppy, Jay decided, discovering no barrier on the bedroom door. She saw the state of the floor ahead and ,though it pained her, she slipped off her shoes, leaving them on the bedroom floor. In only her socks, she continued to the front door which sat open. The house was so old and abandoned it was falling apart. She would have escaped unharmed had it not been for the weak board. As soon as her foot landed on it, her leg went through it, the shattering sound alerting Ursula and her supporters. They came running, Ursula's screams following them.

"Stop her! Don't let her escape!"

Jay didn't even attempt subtlety. She scrambled forward on her hands and knees, leaping to her feet just outside. As she prepared to run, what could only be described as a fireball slammed into her shoulder. Screaming in anguish, she almost collapsed but channeled her pain into speed, escaping easily but in immense pain.
