Hiccup yelled at Atlas and Knighter who just looked at one another in a mix of confusion, amzment, and fear at what just happend. Toothless was fine, but he was still asleep and would be until the next morning, yet the two still had to deal with Hiccup. "Hiccup… I said that it would be dangerous, and how in the name of Thor did you past all the sea dragons and the Darts? I mean come on even Knighter and I had problems with those little guy's and weve delt with them a total of ten times now!"
Atlas fell down onto his back and moaned at the possibilitie's that could happen to Hiccup, but as he fell another of his secrets came to light. He normally wore something like a long sleave shirt to hide some scars he had and the most obvious one was a bight mark. Hiccup's anger suddenly went away as he reconised the bite mark of a Night Fury, and he could clearly see some more faded ones of various other dragons on Atlas. Knighter curled up next ot Atlas who used the dargon as a pillow before noticing that his sleve was up, and the mark was visible.
"Look Hiccup… Knighter and I didn't realy get along that well while we traveled together, and as a result we both have left marks on each other." Atlas looked at the old scar that was on his arm and Knighter quietly wimpered at the sight of it, but as it was covered up Hiccup spoke. "What happened?" It was quite out of the blue and Atlas, along with Knighter both looked surprised but slwoly Atlas spoke. "One of the dragons that we met turned us against each other for a month and… to put it simply we nearly tore each other to shreads."
Atlas looked away and felt time hit him like a wave as he realsied how long he had been alone with Knighter. The two had grown up together and as Hiccup looked over them both he realised that they were more than friends after all they went threw. Right as Hiccup was realising the bond between Altas and Knighter Astrid and the others were having a hard time trying to reach the island. "We can't give up, we need to reach that island before night fall, the danger is just to great if we don't and Atlas is the only one who knows the extend of the danger." Everyone was furious at Atlas for ditching them, but the more they thought about it the more they realised that it was actually quite cleaver of him. They all knew the danger of the rute that they were following and even though it was dangerous they still chanced the rute in front of them.
It would be a day of non stop flying but they still knew the danger but it didn´t matter to them for they were just focused on finding their target island. Knighter also realised how long the two had been together and even though they had their ups and downs the two were still in it with each other. Hiccup sat down next to Toothless who slept calmly on the sand due to the crash that happened after the coffee worked it´s way out of his system. Atlas clamed up as he looked at the island that was off in the distance that had many memories of both the good times and the bad times. As a result he chuckled every now and than as he remembered all the fun times that he with Knighter and the dragon did the same.
This left Hiccup a bit unnerved at the creapy chuckling the two had and he couldn´t help but wonder what it was that was amusing the two. Yet he kept calm as he noticed how the two seemed to of changed in such a short amount of time and that before he was actually having some fun. Though the two didn´t look like it they were having fun on this trip trying to shake the others off their trail. After a while Atlas took out a dagger and started to examine the very first one he had ever gotten from his now deceased family. It had rusted over, but was for the most part fine and he had though of throwing it into the ocean a few times but he hesitated each time. Something held him back and despite the mental front he put up he was certain that it was the thought of loosing his last connection to his family. So he put it away and Knighter spoke in the language of the dragons, making Hiccup wonder what the dragon was saying. "I know this isn´t going to end well for us Atlas… in fact we might meat the end on that island if we arn't carfull."
Looking at Hiccup Atlas though of a responce and upon seeing his friends face knew that it was probably going to be the end. "Hiccup even though I been on Berk for a short time I learned that you and the rest of your friends can handle almost anything. But the main reason I didn´t want you all to come was, because of something on that island that even Knighter doesn´t know about."
It was getting dark but Hiccup and Knighter´s faces were clearly seen as they were surprised by what Atlas just said. "On that island… toward the top of the mountain is a huge cave and in it is some sort of dragon that I should not of seen. I keep infomation on it on the last page of my journal, the very last page that I had to keep hidden from everyone." At that Atlas took out his journal and flipped threw the pages before comming upon the first dragpn that he ever studied. "I have no name for this, and everything that I have on it is purly though, but all I really know is that it seems to lay alot of eggs of different tipes. I was nearly captured by some… dragons, but I was able to escape just in time for they started to fight each other for some reason."
With that Atlas closed his journal and decided to go to sleep and as he started to drift off Knighter glanced over at Hiccup before shruggind and also going to sleep. Hiccup fell asleep some time lator as well, but right as the moon was at it´s peak Atlas woke up from his sleep. So he got up and walked down the beach and looked at the island that he was going to visit the next day. Eventually he heared some snapping in the bushes behind him and he turned around only to see two blood red eye´s. Though he looked into those red eye´s for only a second he still felt the same effect as it did before, yet when it ended he felt fine.
The dragons green eye's were clearly visible in the night and it walked over to him as he froze for he regonise what the dragon was. It was a Forgotten and he knew that all those who that it saw it would kill if they saw them, and even worse it was Night Fury. But as the two looked at each other the Forgotten Night Fury shook it´s head before speaking to him. "The last time I saw anything like you was quite some years ago kid, and I thought that they were all gone." Atlas was just frozen in place as the dragon spoke to him, but after a while he relaxed realizing for an unknown reason.
"Listen I've been following you around for a while now Atlas, watching you and Knighter as you both grew up together." The dragon walked out of the forest and looked at the deserted shores of the nearby island that the interested it. "Don't go up to the nest kid trust me you barly got away the last time." With that the dragon took off before Atlas could say anything, and as it did he fell down clutching his head in pain.
Mornning came and Hiccup woke up and the two Night Furies already were up and about, but they were looking away from each other. But upon seeing Toothless was up and OK Hiccup was overjoyed and went on over to hug his friend who was also happy to see him. Knighte shook his head and walked away from the group looking for Atlas who had gone missing sometime during the night. The dragon was soon following the scent of Atlas and it was only about five mintues lator that the dragon found him. Knighter walked up to him and nudged him slightly, but Atlas didn´t react to it and after a time Hiccup and Toothless came upon them.
"Atlas?" Hiccup upon seeing Atlas unmoving on the ground with Knighter overlooking him rushed over to make sure that he was OK. Toothless though couldn´t care less about Atlas for Night Furies normally never got along that well with each other and he was technically part Night Fury. Though when Knighter started to growl at something Toothless picked it up as well and the two were not that happy about it. Hiccup though didn´t know what was up and looked at the two dragons as they continuly got the same message 'there was another Night Fury here.'
Though it was at this time that Atlas caughed and he grogily got up and took a look around wondering what was happening. "Uhg… what happened to me? I… I… I can´t seem to remmber what exactly happend last night." After that little outbirst surprising both Hiccup and the dragons, Atlas got up wabbling a bit before finally getting his barings. He than gazed in the direction of the island and Hiccup followed his gaze until he finally came upon the island. "Atlas… that island… it isn´t on any of the charts that you made… why did you leave that island off your charts?" Atlas though kept looking at the island and Knighter stopped to look at it to, for they both knew that they couldn´t get away.
"Hiccup that island overthere is actually the island that my family perished on… it´s also the very same place that I´m… never mind." Hiccup had the feeling that Atlas was hiding something, but he wasn´t able to ask for Atlas suddenly hopped on Knighter and the two took off at high speeds. Hiccup shook his head knowing that it was going to be a long day and getting on Toothless they took off after the two. Though when the two caught up to the second Night Fury rider Atlas and Knighter were over the village that the rest of his family dissapeared.
"Atlas… what is it?" Hiccup knew that something was off, but he wasn't expecting Atlas to awnser so it came to even more of a surprise. "That village… that is the same village that my family dissappeared in and it has for some reason been on this island longer than anything else." With that the two went down and Hiccup followed knowing that it wasn´t going to be a good encounter with the abaondoned village. It was soon apparent when they landed and Atlas hopped off of Knighter and the two went on over the old stone tablet that the boy had made.
Hiccup on top of Toothless landed next to him and noticed the shattered remains of the tablet which left the other two very mad. "I made a type of tablet to warn others of the danger that comes with staying in this town Hiccup, and whatever attacked them seems to of destroed it." Hiccup though didn't get time to respond when they took off again and he shook his head as Toothless went after them. When they finally caught up Atlas and Knighter were resting in the cave that their friendship had begun in ten years ago. "Uh… If you don't mind me asking why is your name Atlas… I… I mean it's not a very vikingly name and what is this place?"
"Hiccup… I have no clue about my name… best geuse my parents wanted something new, as for this cave… well let's say that I practically spent five years in it with Knighter by my side." Atlas sat down at the rock that he had the first time he arrived on that side of the island with Knighter. Knighter went on over and sat down behind him leaving Hiccup and Toothless to look at each other before deciding to go out and explore. "Well Knighter… you have been hiding something from me for some time and right now I want to know what it is you were protecting." "I… you are good Atlas I'll admit to that, but the thing I was protecting has long been destroyed, before we left."
"Now why don't you tell me why you lied to Hiccup and Toothless, about your name?" Atlas looked at Knighter who did his best immatation of a smirk, before letting out a sigh and shaking his head. "Why am I not… I didn't tell Hiccup or any one else this, because everyone on Berk besides the younger ones know that I'm not a Viking. In truth I'm actually a runaway along with the rest of my famally from the Roman's, and when we wanted to seek asilum on Berk thing's didn't go that well…" Atlas didn't finished for the grood shook hard and both the Night Fury and rider looked at each other suddenly realising the same thing. "We got to find Hiccup and get off the island… now."
The two took off at their highest speed after Hiccup and Toothless while at the same time on the other side of the island Astrid and the others arrived. "Are we there yet?" Snotloud was bored out of his mind, and as if that wasn't bad enough the twins were fighting, with each other on their dragon. Fishlegs and Astrid were looking at the charts though tring to figure out where they were even though they were right where they needed to be. "This doesn't make any sense, did we travel backwards or are the charts wrong?"
Hiccup and Toothless meanwhile were heading in their direction and it was hard not to hear the twins fighting where ever they were. "What the… how is that even possible it would take days for them to get here unless they went over the… pass… unbeleavable." The two rounded a corner and Toothless landed right in front of the other riders surprising them all. "Hiccup? But how did… when did you… what the… where are we?" "Bleave it or not Astrid this was where Atlas and the rest of his familly were stranded for years before he escaped the island. I'm surprised the no Romans have found their way to this place yet, we are quite close to the area's that they inhabit." After Hiccup finished speaking the volcano let out some steam and some bouldrs as well causing the group to head into the nearest cave.
As the twins got in though a big boulder fell down trapping everyone inside the cave and right as it happened Atlas and Knighter arrived jut in time to see it happen. "That's just great now we have to go threw a series of lava tubes just to find them, and get them out before the volcano explodes!" Knighter spoke not liking what was going to happen and Atlas just sighed before directing the dragon to the cave right above the big lava tube. Inside everyone was trying to figure out what to do to get out leaving Hiccup to think about several things. "Hiccup we could use your help getting us out of here after all were stuck in a cave, that's next to a volcano!" Astrid was mad and Hiccup flinched for a moment before getting his barings and trying to hink of a way out.
"Guy's I think the only way for us to get out of here is to find another exit, but unfortunetly the only way out would be threw the volcano itself." Everyone groaned as well as their dragons before getting up and flying deeper into the cve system that lead directly to the volcano. Atlas and Knighter though were having some bad luck as they had to not only navigate the caves, but lso avoid the many dragons that rested inside them. After a while though they came into a bg cavern, and down below them molten rock bubbled as it let off a red and yellow glow. The two were now in the heart of the volcano and looking around they could tell that they were the first to arrive.
It wasn't to long before they both could hear the sounds of many wingbeats and they both groaned in response for they recognized them right away. "I probably should of though that the others would of followed us… vikings… why are we so thick headed?" Atlas shook his head for even though his family came from rome had was raised in the way of the vikings and as such didn't consider himself Roman. Looking around the two desperately wanted to get out of the volcano but the only way was narow and they had to walk at several points just to reach where they were now. "Wait Atlas some rock came out of the volcano so doesn't that mean that there is a path threw the nest that you told me about?" Knighter did his best to look at Atlas as he glanced up and saw the speck of ligh from above, but he could only think of the dangers of it.
By this time everyone had arrived in the chamber and they were desperately looking for a way out that they never noticed Atlas and Knighter floating in one place. "What the… Atlas!" Astrid flew right by Atlas and the Night Fury he was on nearly hitting them before realizing who it was and getting very mad at him. It was at that moment that something dawned on him and he took out his bag with the very strong coffee in it. Knighter could smell the stuff along with the other dragons who by now had flown over to them and were floating around him. "Atlas what in Thor's name are you doing at a time like this?" Snotloud yelled at the strange viking as he took out the canister and started to open it knowing that only the others would be able to get threw.
"This is something that I got from some friends a while ago, during an incident that I don't want to tell you about. They call it coffie and it's what I gave Toothless so I could leave you all behind, that was only a weaker version mind you, this… this is the strong stuff. I really don't want to do this but if the dragons each have a bit of this we can get out threw the opening in the top of the volcano and threw the nest. Unfortunately I only have enough for five dragons so one of us is going to have and stay behind and risk getting killed by the dragons or the volcano." Everyone looked at him strangely as invisible gears started to fall into place for Hiccup, but what he was forming in his head was a very strange picture that he could not makes head or tails of.
Without waiting for any words though Atlas quickly gave all the other dragons the coffie that he had, and the effect was instant as they all started to shake from the extreme energy boost that they had gotten. "Get going this boost will only last for a short time, and you dragons will pass out for two days when the effect wears off! Knighter and I are faster than the rest of you so forget about us… GO!" Atlas chucked his dagger that he got from his faliy at them and the dragons getting the message quickly used their excess energy to escape from the cave. They took their reluctant riders along with them right up threw the mouth of the volcano and threw the nest of dragons that didn't have time to react to them. With a smile though Atlas took of his helmet and tossed it to Hiccup who caught it surprised before taking off after his friends in an attempt to escape.
Hiccup caught a grim look on Atlas face as he and Toothless took off though and deep in his head he knew that, that face would haunt his dreams. Knighter said no word as the two took off after them as the volcano gave one last shake and the lava started to rise. The reached the top of the mountain as the mountain let loose some more rocks now on fire and even some steam. But they didn't get far as the dragons stopped and surrounded them blocking all means of escape that they could use. Atlas looked around at the blood stained rocks around the mouth of the volcano on Knighter who hovered as he looked at the leader of the group of dragons. Around the dragon leaders neck was a piece of string attached to an emerald that matched Knighters eye's with some Obsidian stuck in the middle.
Atlas took note on how it looked like a Night Fury eye before reaching for his family dagger before cursing as he remembered throwing it. Without a word needing to be spoken the two after years of being with each other charged the head dragon right as the volcano let loose it's molten wrath. Molten rock went up high into the air making quite a spectacle to the viking teens on their dragons as they all flew away at speeds that seemed almost impossible to them. The ash though in the air started fall and it soon hid the island as they all headed home to Berk with the exception of one.
Down below them Hiccup could see an golden eagle on a sail as roman ships did their best to turn around and get away from the island. It was almost midnight when the teens got home and Hiccup tired as can be entered his place and walked right to his room before putting the helmet he had right on his desk next to his own. He fell asleep almost as soon as he touched his bed while Toothless and the other dragons did their best to get the coffee out of their system without waking the village. When morning came though the dragons were all fast asleep and it was almost noon when Hiccup woke up and walked outside.
He noticed Toothless asleep on the roof before going and trying to find his dad, until a though entered his head. Atlas was not that older than him, by at least one year, and he had been with Knighter for ten years so that would of made him very young when he was on Berk. So if he was than how did he know about that crystal cavern that he didn't even know about until meeting him? As he thought about it though a signal flake of snow fell down and touched the ground in front of him bringing him out of his thought. "Hiccup… I didn't know you were back yet… get your friends and head over to Gobbers forge we need to talk."
Stoic had spotted his son who staggered a bit upon him speaking but managed to put up a brave front before shaking his head and going to find his friends. Stoic knew that it was about time that Hiccup and his friends knew, and he shook his head wondering how the trip was so short before going to the bunker that Atlas and Knighter stayed in. But as he got their he noticed that it was empty before shrugging and walking to head to Gobbers forge thinking that Atlas was busy getting Herbs or something.
Sorry about the wait people I accidentally deleted the whole thing three times and right now I am really starting to hate my new laptop. I also was in a hurry to meat my deadline for trying to update this and still no one has told me what they wanted, I can probably do a Spyro story or a Danny Phantom story. Please tell me so I can get a few chapters done ahead of time instead of having to try and make them up in under a month and I did this in under an hour that's whay it's so bad, but hey you mike like it I'm not complaning I just really wanted my original story up.
