Four's POV:

I can hardly contain my excitement, as I look down at Tris. My girl is going to be alright, I tell myself as I feel a huge weight lift from my shoulders. I wrap my right hand around Tris' hand and use my left to text Christina.

Me: Hey! Tris is starting to wake up.
Christina: What!? Seriously!?

Me: Yes. I was talking to her like I've been doing but this time she started mumbling words back. I mean they weren't clear or anything, but the nurse said that she was starting to wake up. :)

Christina: That's awesome! I'm so happy. Is it alright if I stop by in the morning to see her?

Me: That's not a problem at all.
Christina: Awesome! See you tomorrow then! And tell Tris hi for me if she wakes up before then! :)

Me: Sure thing. Talk tomorrow.

As I set my phone down, I look over at Tris and tell her I love her. Then taking a deep breath, I lean back and try to fall asleep.

Eric's POV:

It's cold and damp in this damn cell, and I'm hungry. I can't believe Four had me arrested, well actually I can, but still. Who would have thought that he would have figured out that I was the one who made the toxin. I mean seriously he isn't that smart, or at least that's what I thought.

Roughly two hours later...
Ugh...I'm so bored. When they place you in prison it's literally hell. All you do is sit in your cell. I'm bored out of my mind and would kill for a deck of cards. At least then I could be entertaining myself. But no I'm stuck sitting on the cot as I lean against the wall staring at the four walls around me.

"Askvuvudbss fkvkaldifivosoc sofkdkdjejj." I start to hear talking outside my cell even though it's completely inaudible. I get up and push my ear up against the door. "Four requested to come down and see Eric tomorrow morning. Do you think we should let him come down?" One guard asks.

"I mean I don't see a problem with him coming to chat. I think all the guys down here deserve to be here, but they should still be allowed to have guests." The other guard answers.

"Good point. Plus if I were Four, I would want to go see the person who hurt my girl and tell him she's mine and to get his hands off her."

"Exactly. Should we tell Eric that Four is coming?"

"Nope. Better to surprise him so he doesn't plot against him or anything."

"Good idea." Is the last thing I hear the guards say before they become inaudible again.

So Four is coming I think to myself as I position myself where I'm leaning against the wall. I wonder what he's going to say. What I'm i going to say? "Sorry for almost killing your girl. You want to be friends again?" That just sounds lame. I think he's a jerk and I'll probably always think that. Oh well, nothing I can do.

Four's POV:

I wake up in the morning, and look down at my beautiful girl. Her eyes are still shut and she looks so peaceful. The color is back in her cheeks now and she's looking healthy once more.

"Excuse me," a voice says.

I look up and see it's the nurse who's been attending to Tris. "Yes?"

"I'd like a few minutes alone with Tris if that's alright? I need to check her vitals and make sure everything is okay."

"Sure thing," I say as I push myself off the bed and place a gentle kiss on Tris' forehead.

I decide it's time to go talk to Erik. I told the guards yesterday that I needed to go down and talk to Erik.

"Hey!" I say to the guards outside Eric's cell.

"Hi Four, it's nice to see you. Do u know what you are going to say to Eric?"

"Not exactly, but I have an idea." I say honestly.

"Okay, well he's in cell 203. Here are the keys to his cell. Tell us if you need anything." The guard to the right of me says.

I nod my head showing my understanding to what he said to me and turn towards Eric's cell. I swear it seems like a long walk when in reality it's only a few feet away. Pausing briefly, I take a deep breath and place the keys in Eric's cell, and then I push open the door.

I look in and see Eric sitting on his cot. He's in some old clothes that can tell have been worn by prisoners before him, and honestly he looks awful. However, I don't care. He hurt my girl.

"Four." Eric says bringing me back from my thoughts. "I was wondering when you would be stopping by. It has been quite lonely without you. I mean we were team leaders and did all the training stuff together."

"Yes, that's true, but it doesn't mean that I ever cared about you. You not only hurt me by lying and sending me on a wild chase for a remedy for Tris, but you personally caused her harm!" I say, my hands turning into fists.

"Why Eric? You never told me why you wanted to hurt me and Tris." I finally take a breath to try to calm myself.
-

Eric's POV:

I look into Four's eyes and decide that it's now or never to reveal my secret on why I tried to hurt Tris. "Four, you and I have been friends per say since we both ended up choosing Dauntless."

"Cut the crap Eric and answer." Four says, his voice slightly raised. I can see I'm starting to annoy him. Good.

"Don't interrupt me Four. I'm going to answer your question, so don't interrupt me again." I say knowing I'm being stubborn. Four glares at me and goes and positions himself against the wall and waves me to continue. "As I was saying Four, you and I have been friends, and I was jealous of you throughout our training, because you were the best. Everyone looked up to you and wanted to be you. Never mind I was the second in our class. I hated you so much. I actually thought about getting rid of you at times because then I could be number one, but I didn't want to damage my reputation so I didn't hurt you. The best part of my life was when you turned down the job to be a leader and be in line with the decision makers of Dauntless. You went with the desk job in security and watching everything through the computer monitors. A real waste of talent if you were to ask me personally. Honestly, I don't really care though because now I'm at the top, which is
all that matters."

"Eric, please get to your point." Four interrupts me again.

"What did I say about interrupting me? I will get to the point, now please be quiet." I respond quite calmly which annoys him some more. "Anyways, I'm at the top, and you have been forgotten about for the most part. Unfortunately you still get to help out with the new Dauntless transfers, but I'm still a higher ranking than you in that too." I grin knowing that I'm getting to Four more and more, which pleases me. "To get to the point now Four, I saw Tris before you did. I brought her to Dauntless and I was there the moment she decided to go first. I saw her natural beauty and her fierce and stubbornness that comes along with it. I knew from the begging I would go after her, and she and I would be together. But no, you had to go and take her from me. You put her under your spell, and for that I will never forgive you." I say angrily in a raised voice.
-

Four's POV:

"Did I just hear you correctly?!" I say, a little stunned at what I'd just heard. "You like Tris, and are mad at me for being her boyfriend!"

"Yes!" Eric shouts and goes to punch me, but I duck out of his way and get a good punch on him in his side. He winces and falls to the side some, but recovers quickly. He responds with a punch to my right side, but because I'm faster, I turn out of the way. Because of the position of his body after he missed me, it gives me the perfect opportunity to pin Eric down.
"You listen to me Eric!" I say completely fuming now. "You will stay away from Tris. DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME!? You will never set another eye on her or hand and if I catch you I will tear you to shreds. Tris deserves to be with someone who loves her and cares for her. You are not that person, and never will be." I pause waiting for Eric to say something, but he turns his face to face me and spits on me. This makes me even madder, so I slam him against the wall which knocks him out. "GUARDS!" I yell I as I drop Eric onto the floor.

"Yes Four," I hear one of the two guards say.

"You are to keep Eric in here isolated from everyone else. He is not to look or speak at anyone ever again. I will not press charges to have him sentenced to death because that's not up to me; it's Tris' decision. That being said, you are to slide him his food through the bottom part of the door." I look at the two guards directly in the eyes, and am pretty sure I scared them some at the moment. "Do you understand me?"

"Yes Four," both guards mutter simultaneously.

"Good, that will be all." I say, and with that I walk out of the prison cell, out of the prison itself, up the stairs, and out the doors to the rest of my life.
