Thanks for all the love in the last chapter. In sincerity I like all the favorties, follows and ect. Had a lot of fun writing this one. Little more fluff before the finale of Act 2. Feel free to review at the end and always thank you for reading. Enjoy.

Chapter 10: Hearts and Hurdles Day

The sun broke through the half closed blinds of the Carousel Boutique. The room was in a pleasant silence as the day was breaking and the night coming to an end. Rarity's eyes fluttered open. She almost jumped out of bed and screamed 'intruder' because she has been sleeping alone in that bed for years, but last night was different. Last night Applejack spent the night with her and Rarity's mind slipped back into the memory.

Rarity and Applejack came back from a long trip from the Crystal Empire, but the orange mare was sly and had purchased the return trip with private cabins. Rarity was not one to gallivant her private life in public, but some romantic teasing in their suite was always on the menu. By the time they got to Ponyville, Applejack offered for Rarity to stay with her, but the unicorn was already feeling hot from the train ride and knew her place was closer. They compromised and swiftly made their night excursion to Rarity's. It was there Applejack took the unicorn's hoof and led her to the bed this time.

Rarity silently laughed as she remembered how the earth pony was so excited and fizzled out the second they sat on the bed. Rarity did what she did before and guided the pony through her first experience. Applejack was more receptive and responded in a timid and slightly more girlish fashion than Rarity thought her pony could do. Rarity was buried in Applejack's undercarriage and missed her orgasmic expression, but hearing the earth pony's hard breathing of ecstasy for the first time was enough to drive Rarity over the edge. Luckily, Applejack was ready this time. After her session of being doted upon was over, she took Rarity by the hoof and the reigns of the rest of the session. For the most part, Applejack was learning and it wasn't as mind blowing as it could be, but the fact that it was Applejack caressing her sides, Applejack lustfully licking at her mound and Applejack gently kissing her neck drove the unicorn over the moon. She didn't think that lovemaking could reach the level of pleasure than it did last night with her special somepony.

The last memory of the night she had was her eyes were closed and felt her lover's lips kiss each one. Rarity reached over and hung her hooves around Applejack's neck and the farmer laid hers around the unicorn's waist. Now awake the white mare was pleased to see that at least one of her hooves was where she left it, but the other was off trying to repeat some of last night's adventures. Rarity readjusted herself and tucked herself underneath Applejack's chin, making sure that she didn't hit her with the horn. She placed her nose on the farmer's neck and deeply inhaled the scent of her lover. The smell of sex was heavy on her. The usual scent of sweat was repugnant to the unicorn, but mixed with pheromones and their own love vitality was intoxicating. Although she always thought Applejack smelled alright when she came in from the fields. Maybe it was a feminine thing, but no matter as she buried her snout to the orange mare's body.

The unicorn wanted to fall asleep again, as there wouldn't be a better place for her to be, but it seems her mind was fully alert with her reminiscence of her and Applejack's night. Too polite to wake the farmer, Rarity lay there in her sleepy loose embrace. Even if Applejack were to come about in several hours, she figured she would get her wish and go back into slumber. Rarity tried the old method of counting sheep to stir the idea of sleep. "One sheep. Two sheep. Three sheep. Four play. Hey wait. That doesn't even count. Ah, but who cares. Last night was exactly what I wanted and I guess from Applejack's heavy sleep it was more than what she bargained for." Rarity grinned ear to ear from her next thought. "If it was this decent now I can hardly imagine how much better it can be once Applejack gets the rhythm of things. She did a terrific job for her first time. Seems she wasn't kidding when she said that some things are passed on through family reunions. I don't think a true virgin would have known as much as her. Knowledge or not. Either way I would have treasured it."

Minutes felt like hours to the unicorn, but it was the most pleasant time she has wasted in months. She felt Applejack shift her posture as she moved her forelegs around her backside and a hind leg wrap around hers. "Mornin' Sugarcube." the farmer lazily whispered.

Rarity smiled and kissed the pony's collarbone. "Good morning, darling. I can tell you slept well." matching the pony's soft tone.

"Well yer bed is oftly comfy."

"Sure it wasn't the sweet lovemaking that tuckered out the proud pony?"

Applejack rolled her eyes. "Yer too much."

The two ponies lay there as the the bodies were slowly becoming unparalyzed from sleep. Neither wanting to fully wake up and could spend the rest of the day lazily lying in bed. After a breath of silence Applejack pulled away and her lime green eyes bore into Rarity. "Thanks Rare. Thanks fer bein' so patient with me."

"Applejack. There wasn't an outcome where I would force you into it. I would have waited an eternity if it meant you'd feel relaxed about it. Glad you didn't though. It's become increasingly difficult to control myself when we're alone."

Applejack warmly smiled and snickered at the unicorn's honest response to her body's reactions. "Glad I didn't wait too much longer either."

Rarity saw an opening and didn't want to waste an opportunity for the newcomer. "I know we're a tad tired, but I can rally up my libido and go for some morning delight."

Like an eager teenager Applejack replied with adolescent curiosity. "Really?"

Rarity nodded. Applejack took the offer and leaned in for her lips. Morning breath was one thing, but Rarity found having her tongue in the source was a whole new type of dissatisfaction. However this is where the unicorn made the exception. No need to be clean when they were about to get dirty anyways. Rarity slowly inched her tail over and wrapped it around one of Applejack's hind legs as the farmer was concentrating placing kisses on her neck.

There was a long echo in the house. Rarity thought the bell to the store had rung downstairs. Seeing how it was a Sunday and the store was closed, she deemed it as her hearing things and returned to her farmer. She was annoyed that even the noise popped into her head in the first place with Applejack caressing her in all the right places.

A second noise occurred. It was closer and it wasn't stopping. The steady increase of the sounds of a pony climbing steps made Rarity have a flash of terror. There was somepony in the house.

The bedroom door blasted open and a purple and pink maned filly waltzed in with no regard for privacy. "Wake up Rarity. The Cutie Mark Crusaders are coming over and we need your..."

The filly stopped dead in her prancing tracks as she took notice that her sister was under the sister of one of her friends. Both lover's eyes went from closed to wide open as Sweetie Belle stood there with jaw slacking and pupils tinier than a pencil dot. All three frozen to to the awkward tone commanding the next actions. As soon as Rarity made a small shuffle to situate herself and explain away the situation, Sweetie Belle struck first.

"AAHHHH!" the filly screamed and ran back downstairs. "Oh my gosh. I am so sorry. I didn't see anything I swear. Please don't hurt me. I won't tell..."

Rarity could hear the familiar bell and the front door slam. Applejack climbed off of her and sat at the edge of the bed. Rarity grabbed a pillow and smashed it to her face as hard as possible as if it would wipe away the embarrassment.

"Mmm-Hrrr mmpff! Smeeshh mmmmssss" was the phrase Applejack heard.

"One more time. This time without the pillow." Applejack asked.

Rarity did as requested. "I can't believe Sweetie Belle walked in on us."

"Yea..." Applejack quietly breathed out as she grabbed her stetson off the ground. She dusted it off before placing it perfectly on her head. The farmer mosied over to sit next to Rarity. She put her hand on the unicorn's hind leg to sympathize with her partner. "I know it will be worse fer you. Probably won't be able to look Sweetie Belle in the eye fer awhile, but I'm gonna get a weird look from Applebloom too. Our sisters are little gossip queens amongst the Crusaders. Wouldn't be surprised if yer sister found the other two already and grossly exaggerating what she saw or even worse tellin' them the truth."

"Oh Celestia. It just hit me that Sweetie Belle said she needed something, you know, before we scarred her for life."

Applejack pulled the unicorn by the hoof and upright on the bed. "Come on. Get up. It ain't gonna be easy, but let's see if we can't wrap it up fast with the youngins'."

Rarity did a top down survey of her girlfriend. If there was one imperfection about her it was she had dreadful bed head. Her horn lit up and pulled a brush from her night dresser drawer. Applejack tried to deflect the brush, but knew when Rarity saw an imperfection it was better to just let whatever happens, happen. Besides it's hard to avoid magic that can levitate and steal a hat. "Thanks Rare..."

"You could be a little more cheerful about me styling your mane."

"It's not that. I'm just not lookin' forward to what our sisters will say. Even though we're guilty, it might be in our best interest to look as innocent as possible. Besides would you have left my mane the way it was?"

"Normally no, but umm your disheveled mane was sort of attractive in a very sexy way because I know I was the one running my hooves through your golden locks. Mussing up that innocent ponytail into a devilish do."

Applejack smiled at Rarity's compliment. "Well what about you? Do you want me to describe yer mane for you or do you know how bad it looks?"

"I know how bad it looks. If you didn't look so cute when you're sleeping I would have tried to get out, do my mane, reapply some make up and sneak back into your hooves."

"By the way have you seen my ribbons?" Applejack inquired.

"I am more than certain that during our escapades on the train that we left your red ribbons by accident. Want me to find you one downstairs as a substitute?" offered Rarity.

"Nah. I'll survive a day without them. Got plenty at home anyways."

"Excellent then cause you are done." Rarity said as she placed Applejack's hat back on her head.

"I don't know about you, but I am powerfully hungry. Want me to pick up some vegi-breakfast sandwiches at the marketplace?"

"Sure. Please do. I'll just be here getting ready. You know how long it takes for me so enjoy the pleasant stroll through town. Keep in mind though that when you come back we will be dealing with...our sisters." Rarity said with a slight cringe.

Applejack planted a kiss between her eyes. "Be strong. Just another obstacle we have to deal with. I'll be back soon."

With that statement, Applejack proceeded down the stairs. Rarity didn't waste any time in getting ready. The usual regimen was to be put on fast forward as she didn't know if the Crusaders were to come back. After a rigorous shower, Rarity got in front of her mirror and did what she does best. "Mane and tail in the perfect stylish curls. Check. Eye makeup. Check. A light purple lipstick. Maybe? Applejack doesn't have any marks on her. Then again it's not like I looked her over thoroughly. Last time I was negligent, Rainbow Dash outright embarrassed us and put us in a very tense situation. The situation is already weird enough. No lipstick."

Rarity walked downstairs and found sight that she never thought she would see in a lifetime. Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle and Applebloom and sitting and being quiet in the middle of her store. Unfortunately the moment was bittersweet. She had heard the fillies whispering something before they noticed her at the base of the stairwell. Now all of them were having staring contests with inanimate objects across the room. Being the older more mature mare, Rarity felt it was her role to cut first into the tension.

"Good morning girls."

"Hey Rarity." was all said in a monotone voice.

The unicorn half expected the answer, but didn't think it would be as hard to hear as it was. Her little sister and her friends weren't allowed to send an awkward shiver down her spine. "So what brings you fine young ladies to the boutique?"

Applebloom and Scootaloo nudged Rarity's little sister to speak up. Sweetie Belle still was avoiding eye contact, but was able to get out. "Can we- can we use spare gems if you have any?"

"For what reason? I'm not even going to consider it if you don't tell me." Rarity sternly pronounced.

Applebloom came forth next. "Big Mac asked us fer our help to impress Miss Cheerilee. He ain't good at bein' romantic and stuff so we said to leave it to us and we'll come up with somethin'."

Rarity was surprised at the answer. She expected something more Crusader-esque like wanting to borrow oils to grease up some slide for a speed contest.

The entrance opened and the farmer interrupted the interrogation. "Rare. Food is here Come and...Oh hey girls." Seems Applejack wasn't ready either to meet her sister face to face.

Rarity brought her up to speed at what the Crusaders were up to. "Big Mac is too naive sometimes. He doesn't know what he's gettin' himself into. Whatever. Rare it's yer call."

"Well sure, but Sweetie Belle I want you to replace them. You take Spike out and go gem collecting."

"Applebloom, you will join her. Scootaloo, you can do what you want, but I'm sure the company will be appreciated nonetheless." Applejack ordered.

"Bet we would have gotten away with just having the gems if somepony didn't walk in on the lovers." The purple maned pegasus muttered under her breath.

All eyes were diverted to Scootaloo. Rarity thought to herself how alike Rainbow Dash and the filly pegasus are so perfect for each other that they very well pass as biological sisters.

"Hush Scoots. How was I supposed to know?" Sweetie Belle said in a raised tone.

"Use your brain. We're two days away from Hearts and Hooves day. You don't think these two wouldn't be getting it on." Scootaloo reasoned.

That sparked a nerve in Applejack and Rarity, but the white mare was quicker to take offense. "Scootaloo! Watch your words. We're not that kind of couple I assure you. And I, we certainly don't 'get it on' as you so passe phrased it. It has far more deeper meaning than that of a wild manticore."

"Rare is right girls." Applejack piped up. "Now considerin' I heard Scootaloo talkin' about it I'm sure you were told about it too Applebloom." The yellow filly nodded in acknowledgment. "I'll start off and say sorry Sweetie Belle. We sorta were in our own world and didn't want you to see that. More importantly Applebloom, this sort of thing is gonna happen. Not the you bargin' in part, but you know what I mean. You girls are old enough to know what probably is goin' on or at the very least heard in school some very unreliable information from yer peers."

"I really hope you have a point to this darling because now you're making me uncomfortable with what we did." Rarity snappily responded.

"I was getting to that. Hold yer horses." Applejack addressed her girlfriend before continuing. "We have reached that step in our relationship. It was a big one, but I want you to know girls that it is the most beautiful experience this pony had ever had. It took awhile fer me to find the right pony and equally important findin' the right time. The time where I knew I could be at my most pure self and know I was in good hooves. Is it weird to see? Absolutely, but I want you girls to experience this one day when yer way older." She said as she was making her way next to Rarity.

"And with the right pony." Rarity added. "None of that rebellious phase nonsense where the bad colt is the one you take home to mother and father. Please girls. None of this awkwardness after today. Applejack and I aren't going anywhere. You can say we're in love. Deeply maddeningly in love."

"Stick to the point Sugarcube." Applejack said to reel the pony in from going off on a romantic tangent.

Rarity got in and stepped inches away from Sweetie Belle. "Point is that it's out in the open and we can deal with it in one of two ways. How we're handling like are now? Demonizing the act or like reasonable ponies. Understanding that it happens, it was bound to happen and that it will continue to happen. Like Applejack said it is beautiful."

Sweetie Belle took awhile, but she was able to finally look Rarity in the eyes. "Sorry sis. It's just not something you want to see. I guess viewing it instead of experiencing it can mess up how you understand it."

"You're probably right. If I saw mother in father in the same position I probably wouldn't have even considered dating for a long long while." Rarity said as she rubbed her sister's head. "Go get your gems and go help Big Mac. I have a photographic memory and will know every gemstone taken so take what you need unless you want to be out in that valley with Spike all day."

"Yes Rarity." They all said in unison. The crusaders quickly raided the gem stock and were on their way.

Applejack chastely kissed her girlfriend on the cheek. "Thank Celestia yer good with words. You finished off my thoughts perfectly."

"Yes. Think we did alright, but even through all the mess Scootaloo did bring up a point. Hearts and Hooves Day is around the corner."

"Rare. I thought we said yesterday was early Hearts and Hooves Day. Even that extra special present was the icin' on the cake. There's no need to exert yourself again by planin' somethin'."

"I scoff at the idea of exertion. I'll make it small, but flair it up with my natural ability to make anything fabulous."

Applejack rolled her eyes. Rarity knew the pony was a pushover if she used the right strategy. She leaned in and whispered salaciously "You know Applejack how important a romantic mood can set the ball in motion for how bedroom antics fall into place. They can either be drab or intense. Your choice Miss Applejack."

"Yer not playin' fair. You know, once I'm no longer wet behind the ears, the tables will flip and it'll be I that will be havin' you crave it."

"Oh please. I couldn't crave it more if I tried. Also ladies don't beg."

Applejack pressed her face so the ponies were crisscrossed trying to keep eye contact. As if she was stressing the accent, Applejack said in a low sultry tone. "We'll see about that."

As the farmer backed off, Rarity was finding herself with a flash of red on her cheeks. "If I could strip your voice of that accent I would be so conflicted. You skedaddle out of here. I'm sorry love, but I do have a business to run."

"And now that winter is over so do I." Applejack kissed the unicorn on the lips and made her way towards Sweet Apple Acres. "See you in two days Sugarcube."

Rarity shuffled off the earlier embarrassment and concentrated at what was ahead. Work and planning for Hearts and Hooves Day. Rarity retired to her bedroom and found Opal on the bedspread. She shooed the cat off so she could make the bed and the cat returned shortly after. To Opal's dismay, Rarity was going to be quite chatty as she was to figure out what to do for Applejack.

"Well yesterday was productive, but I really don't know what to do for Applejack tomorrow." the unicorn thought as she was making her way to Twilight's. "It's hard to do something so big when you're constrained to a framework so small. The most I could come up with is making dinner sensual, but that's too little and also maybe too much. Applejack was just acquainted to sex. I don't want to introduce anything too kinky too soon. Who's know if she might be disgusted by it. Besides keeping it vanilla till she figures out the mechanics and myself is what I want from her. No. You know what. No sex. I refuse to let that be a crutch for us. If it happens it happens, but I don't want it to become the norm because I can't be creative. Part of being in a relationship is the physical, but if I don't keep Applejack interested with that emotional spark then I could risk losing her."

Rarity arrived at Twilight's and knocked. She was greeted by her alicorn princess. "Hello Rarity. So glad you could stop by and give me the dress."

"I normally don't make deliveries, but I make an exception for friends. Besides you have a legitimate excuse. It's not everyday Princess Celestia requests you handle something in Canterlot for one of your lessons."

"I know. It's exciting, but I'm so sorry I made you make this dress so quickly. Celestia always says to bring something nice and I remember a lesson you've given me. Never wear the same dress twice so I'm heeding your advice. I really hope it wasn't too much trouble." Twilight said contritely.

"Not at all. Not everyday you get to sketch for royalty. It's something that has been in my books and have been dying to make."

"I can't thank you enough. You have some time to catch up? I could use some company packing."

"Sure. I can spare a few minutes." Rarity said as she walked into the tree house. "Where's Spike? Usually he's already at my hooves begging for attention."

"I sent him to get some sandwiches at the marketplace. I am not a fan of train snacks. The poor guy took it hard since you told him about you and Applejack. He's been trying to find something new to obsess over. Unfortunately it's been food. If I wasn't a princess, finding the bits to feed him would be quite difficult."

Rarity took a small sigh of regret. "I really don't like breaking hearts."

"It's fine Rarity. Everypony has some heartbreak. So long as you and Applejack are happy, I think we can all agree you made the best decision. You handled his heart very well. It's cracked, but not broken."

There was a small lull in the conversation. Rarity didn't like hearing about Spike in that light. He was a good dragon, who crushed on the wrong pony. At least she was glad he never came outright and admitted his feelings, although the rest of them knew. It would have been that much harder to explain away. As Twilight was obsessively making use of each cubic square in her suitcase, she noticed Rarity trailing off in her own thoughts. "So how's being a couple? Not any fights I hope."

Rarity was snapped out of her thoughts and back into the conversation. "No. Not since that bittersweet day when our past hit us in the sore spots have we fought. Honestly I've been fighting more with myself on how to keep the relationship fresh and exciting than with Applejack."

"Sorry to hear that. You girls have been going out for awhile now, but I didn't think you would be the one to run out of creative ideas. Not to butt in your business Rarity, but I don't think Applejack cares about the extravagance, but rather that she's doing it with you. You can't make everything special, right?"

"That almost sounds like a challenge. I would agree with you Twilight, but I never want to bore her or think I don't care. We celebrated Hearts and Hooves Day a little early, but want to still do something nice for her on the official day."

"If you really need ideas. I might have something. I know I'm not one for romance, but you'd be amazed about how many books of magic that are about love." Twilight offered.

Rarity lit up. If if she were to find a nugget of info she could spring forward it into something worthy. "If it's not too much trouble that would be lovely."

While still packing her suitcase, Twilight's perfect cognitive map of her library was able to sniff out and levitate the books to Rarity's hooves. "Those are some of the spells I am sure you can do. Anything else is too powerful for a unicorn like yourself to handle or plain dangerous. Pick a few cause I don't have much time. Trains due in a half hour."

Rarity sifted through the books, glancing at the titles make Rarity question magicians idea on love. "Manifesting love with magic. Potions to heat the night up. Binding spells with a soft touch. I really hope Twilight is not taking these to heart. Some of these almost seem devious in nature. Especially this one. Transmogrify your inanimate objects into living partners. These feel like more erotica than serious text to further pursue magical knowledge. Seems even magic is going to let me down. Wait. This one doesn't feel like it wants me to use magic to force to have Applejack begging for more."

Rarity's aura surrounded the book and brought it next to Twilight. "This one caught my eye. Do you have time to explain it to me?"

Twilight shifted her attentions to the volume. It was interesting enough that Twilight brought it closer with her brilliant pink aura and examined it's contents. "Nice choice. It is surprising though. I didn't think you would be into performance magic."

"It's really the only thing I can do in terms of magic. I wish I was you Twilight or at least had an ounce of potential you have with magic. Would have picked something more riveting, but a dazzling light show for private is the least I can do given my limited abilities." Rarity explained.

"These aren't as easy as they may look, but I could give you a crash course on it before I leave." Twilight offered.

Not wanting to make her friend late for the train she asked for a five minute crash course. Twilight happily accepted her friends request. An opportunity to play teacher was always appealing to her. The alicorn flipped the pages past the introductions of making light and onto the meat and potatoes of the skill. "Now Rarity you know how to make light and all that. Simple. Yes. Now trying to take that light and give it life it a bit trickier. You're not going to be making lights dance, but fire dance. The fire can take form into anything you want it to be It just matters what you can think of, the complexity of it and how you're able to keep track of everything."

"You explain so fast. These concepts must feel so elementary to you. I know I will be up all night just reading and practicing all tomorrow to get it right." Rarity worriedly said.

Twilight wrapped a wing around her friend. "You're a smart mare Rarity. I know you. If you're passionate about something, you put your full effort into. And from what Rainbow Dash and if I'm honest, what the girls have noticed, is that you are very passionate about Applejack."

Rarity let out a small blush and tittered in her hooves. "I do really love that pony. You really think I can pull this off don't you?"

"Not a doubt in my mind. None of this is overly complicated. It requires a lot of concentration though. I can't stress this enough. You're playing with fire not light. Losing control of fire could set aflame anything so take precautions."

"Got it Twilight. If there are any practice shows I can do I will blithely attempt them before trying something of my own. Thanks Twilight." Rarity said as she hugged her friend. "Now I know you have a little more packing and a train to catch. I best be off. Have a nice summit."

A small sparkle fizzled out as yet another attempt was foiled by the needy Persian cat rubbing up against the legs of Rarity. The unicorn scowled at the feline and levitated the cat onto the bed. "Opal. I had it down pat. I could feel it. I don't know why you are so needy today, but you sit on that bed and clean yourself."

Opal gave her blankness, almost unloving stare, got off the bed and continued to mark her scent on the mare. Rarity rolled her eyes and brought out the big guns or tiny toy mouse rather. Immediately the cat's eyes fixated on the toy. Rarity tossed it across her bedroom and like a dart, Opal tackled it and playfully was wriggling it around in her mouth. "I sometimes take two showers a day. Having you rub up against me because I no longer smell like you gets irritating. Anyways. Breath deep. One. Two. Three."

Brilliant streams of orange and purple erupted from the tip of Rarity's horn. Rarity was focusing on the finale of her show. It ends up with with a fire version of Applejack and herself running from opposite sides. They collide in a fiery explosion and after the flames settle they are shown in an embrace. They look at each other and kiss. As their lips are locked, mini fire works shoot out and Rarity is able to preserve a small heart surrounding the lovers.

After she saw her spectacle, she magically snuffed out the fire and flames. "Yes. This is smashing. Applejack will absolutely love this. Even if she balks at the extravagance of it, she will not be able to say anything about me bettering myself with some magical studies. This is so full proof that I am ashamed that I didn't think of it sooner. Well now to get ready. I know Applejack will not appreciate it as much as I do, but I know she enjoys washing away the kiss marks off of her. I remember one shade of pink wouldn't come off so she wore her bandana all day."

Several brushstrokes, mane curling, hoof polishing, eyelash curling, light blush and pink lipstick application later, Rarity was ready for her evening with Applejack. "I think I've underdone it, but I'd rather be under than over today. Fire isn't exactly friendly with any of the products that are slightly flammable."

Rarity trotted downstairs and kept her word of keeping it simple, for the most part. In the middle of the showroom a candelabra with the three candles lit, curtain drawn to keep the sun setting from over lighting the room and a nice tray of food. "Applejack said no meal and I win this one. A single strawberry, maybe covered in chocolate, is not a meal. It's a morsel. Does a million morsels add up to a meal? Hope Applejack doesn't think so or she will be sorely upset with the rest of the platter."

A nice fondue set was on a small boiler. A bowl was next to it filled to the brim with strawberries, sliced bananas and pineapples. Delicately placed next to it was their box of chocolate, which was a mix of the chocolate for dipping and molded bites for romantic feeding. Rarity placed some chocolate into the pot. She looked at the time and was surprisingly ahead of schedule. Usually Applejack would be waiting downstairs as she's finishing her makeup. Not really knowing what to do in the spare time, she tried different sexy poses. She brought out her lounge chair and lay sideways with her plot towards the entrance. Another position with her fore hooves behind her head and on her knees. Not liking either she tried lying completely horizontal with a hoof propping her head up.

"How come when the models do it it looks so natural, but when I try and do it it feels like I look a fool." Rarity complained. She tried one more. She flipped her hair in front of her eye, slightly covering it, lay forward towards the door with a hoof under her chin. There was a knock at the door. Louder than usual in the quiet room, Rarity felt her weight shift off of the lounger and onto her back. Applejack let herself in and saw a very well done unicorn on her back spread eagle.

Instinctively, Applejack grabbed her hat and covered her face. "Geez Rare. I'm really not ready fer this kind of forceful sign of wantin' me to initiate."

Rarity scrambled and got herself up in a hurry. Cheeks bright red the unicorn tried to cover her actions. "I wasn't...you scared me. I was trying to do a sexy pose for you and open the door and give you a feast for your eyes that it would make your head spin. Falling ungracefully sort of put a damper on that."

Applejack placed her heat back on her head and walked over to her unicorn. "Come on Suagarcube. You really think I could want you more if you were in a different pose?" She kissed Rarity's forehead and continued. "What's the agenda fer today?"

Still shook up from presenting herself to Applejack, Rarity led the pony to her lounger and offered her a seat while she presented the small spread. "You said keep is small, but unlucky for you my definition of small is different from yours. I was thinking of us sitting around, enjoying a pleasant conversation and maybe feeding each other a fruit or two."

Applejack looked over to the feast and a sparkle appeared in her eye. "That's not enough food fer me"

Rarity frowned at the orange mare's grinning face, levitated her Applejack's trademark stetson onto a rack and shoved her on her back on the lounger. Rarity knew the chocolate in the pot still needed to simmer, but that's what the mini bites were for. The advantage of being a competent unicorn was her magic was able to bring over the morsels from the coffee table to the lounger. Lying on theirs sides, they were barely making enough room to fit on the furniture. If anything it was giving the ponies an excuse to constantly run their hooves on each other. Rarity loves the strong body of the farmer. Over the course of their relationship she's be trying to memorize all of her partner's muscular curves, down to the smallest detail. Applejack seemed to be the same , but for different reasons. She always complimented on the velvety softness of her coat, the consistency of pleasant smells and a gentle warmth her body gives off. She wasn't sure about the body heat now as the cocoa in the chocolates Applejack was feeding her was speeding up her heartbeat with the sugars.

Finally the chocolate was ready for dipping and the two were able to use the dipping forks for the fruit. After several delicious iterations of fruit and chocolate, Applejack decided to take it a step further. The earth pony pinned Rarity to the seat. Her green eyes staring deep into the unicorn. Rarity felt that a kiss was coming on and closed her eyes and inched her neck towards the farmer. A cold feeling bopped her snout. Surprised by something that wasn't her lover's lips, Rarity opened her eyes to see Applejack with a strawberry in her mouth, a suggestive look in her eyes and a sultry smile. With half lidded eyes, Rarity opened her mouth in acceptance of Applejack's romantic gesture. The farmer leaned in and Rarity grabbed the tip of the fruit. Her teeth inched closer to the fruit and bit off her share of the strawberry. A few quick chews and a swallow, Rarity was now in a tight lip lock embrace with Applejack. Rarity was always one to freshen her breath after a meal before kissing, but the familiarity with the farmer now forced the old idiosyncrasies out of mind. Rarity knew that any breath, no matter how unpleasant smelling, Applejack wouldn't make a sound. Today was a pleasant reversal as all the chocolate and sweet fruits coated their mouths with heavy sweet secretion. As the two were digging into each others mouths, Applejack's tongue was almost enveloping Rarity's with ferocity. The unicorn was feeling it. The burning desire for physical intimacy from her partner, but sadly for the earth pony Rarity didn't spend a full day and a half perfecting a magical performance and not use this new knowledge.

Before they were going to pass that line of innocent play to lustful love making. Rarity broke the kiss with a slight push. Rarity's eyes popped and was repulsed at the sight in front of her. The sugary additives made the saliva sticky and bonding stronger. Almost a foot away from her lover, she was still connected by a thin trail of spit from their lips. Rarity immediately wiped her mouth and floated a napkin to alternatively clean her's and Applejack's mouth. The farmer snickered at the fast and over exaggerated action to something so normal and tame at this point.

Rarity leaped off from her seat and was getting in a proper stance for her performance. Applejack motioned to follow Rarity, as she had other ideas for what would happen next, but Rarity placed her hoof and gently placed her back in her seat. "I know you said simple, but I still wanted to make this extraordinary so enjoy what's about to dazzle your imagination. I promise it would leave even the most talented of unicorns impressed. This is for you Applejack. Happy Hearts and Hooves Day."

Rarity took a deep breath and closed her eyes. Sadly she wouldn't be able to use the many mirrors in her showroom to see what it looked like in completion, but it was the only way to keep concentration. Rarity emitted a light out of her horn and a small purple flame came out. With proper magical spacing, she was able to form it into a fire framework of herself. With sweat forming at her brow, she did the same with the orange flame of Applejack. Rarity thought it would be clever for the story of the play be how they met, how they became friends and how they eventually became lovers.

Halfway through her play, Rarity became self conscious, she couldn't tell if Applejack was asleep because she found the whole thing boring or she was silently appreciating the spectacle. Her neurosis got the best of her and rationalized that she could take at least one peak at her lover. Rarity opened one eye and the display in front of her immediately calmed the pony. Applejack's eyes were dilated with excitement and wonder as the mini fireworks spectacular was unfurling before her. Rarity took notice to the ear to ear smile the farmer that masked appreciation for her efforts. With that crazy thought buried with Applejack's seemingly well received expression.

Rarity smelled a scent that was ever so familiar. She was asleep at the time and the scent of burning came along to the top of her room. "Rarity!" Applejack yelled. The unicorn lost concentration as the voice connected the dots together. The interruption from the farmer had the fiery display explode. Embers fell on the curtains and mannequins of the store. Rarity's first instinct was to scream as she was watching her life's work set on fire. In the state of panic, Rarity felt herself get muzzled. Applejack came into her field of vision and Rarity could barely see over the brim of the stetson.

"Breath through this and follow me to the laundry room." Applejack said. "Come on hurry." The duo made it to the room unscathed and found the big washing bin for clothes. Being a handy farmer she is, Applejack released the pressure of the washing basin and the flow from the facet was strong and filled the bin quickly. With the new weight of the water, Rarity found it hard, even with magic, to carry it, but the adrenaline of losing her burning home was pushing her into the showroom, which looked like a black cloud took residence in it. With Applejack helping to filter her breathing, the unicorn was able to douse the fire in a clear mind and not choking on the thick smoke.

As soon as she found that the fire was extinguished and the building was safe, Rarity pulled half the weight of Applejack as she was barely able to stand up from the lack of oxygen. There was a small drizzle and Rarity took sanctuary under the tree next to her home. Rarity could see the smoke billowing out of her store's front door and opened the windows her magic could reach to air out the debris.

Through fits of coughing Applejack muttered, "You alright,*cough, cough* Sugarcube?"

Rarity immediately took to her lover and propped the pony up to the side of the tree. "Applejack. Thank you so much for helping with the fire. I'm so sorry. I'm so foolish. I had this whole thing planned and worked so hard on it for you. I should have listened to you when you said keep it simple."

Now that most of the soot was clearing from her lungs, Applejack was ready to settle Rarity's need for excitement. "Rare I know you've been in relationships before and I know you want to make it excitin', but here's my two bits on it. I love you Rare. You can make the most mundane of events fun, competitive in a cooperative fashion and memorable. Now I may be oversteppin' my boundaries by sayin' this but i don't think you've been in a relationship long enough to let the initial fireworks settle. Now we're lucky to have those bursts of fun, but you've been doin' them continuously for almost half a year now. I know it doesn't sound excitin', but wouldn't you want to want to take a break, Sit and curl up on the couch every once in awhile. Get some delivery and just enjoy some movies."

The clouds opened up and the drizzle became a shower. Rarity started sniffling and a small tear of relief was forming on her lid now that she was coming down from her adrenaline. "I just..I just never wanted to bore you. I was always scared you'd leave if I wasn't a pony that could entertain you to some capacity."

"You want to know what I consider fun on the farm. Pickin' up dead apples with my sister. We make a game out of it. Now I can tell from the look on yer face you can't even believe that anypony would say that. What you do is the relationship version of that with takin' this small platter of food and makin' it a dinner and a show. I appreciate it like nothin' else, but it has to be taxin' comin' up with things like this doesn't it?" Applejack asked.

Rarity thought about it and answered honestly. "It has been a little difficult in the past few weeks. I didn't really want to rehash anything."

Applejack put a hoof around the nape of Rarity's neck. "No more streesin' about it alright. Next time yer house could burn down fer good and I don't know if we're ready to live together."

Rarity smiled in earnest from Applejack's joke. She leaned in and kissed her farmer on the lips. "I'll keep that to heart love." The unicorn looked towards her home and the smoke was still billowing out. "Well seems we're out here for a few more minutes. It's going to be such a chore to clean."

"Yea. Sadly no way to make somethin' fun out of cleanin' yer dreams up. Surprised yer not bein' all crazy now. This is yer shop. It's what you live fer."

"I put all the truly important stuff in my showcase closet. We took care of the fire before anything was genuinely ruined. Shop requests will be closed now, but I have the means to fix it. I was actually more worried about you in there. I wasn't scared I'd lose you, but I heard you coughing your lungs out. If you weren't pushing me to take care of the fire I probably would have dragged us out of there and watched as some fireponies finish the job."

Applejack smiled, "You lived up to yer word."

"What word?"

"You put me in front of the shop. The morning after I kissed you, you said that you would give up the shop if it meant to give our relationship a chance. It's really sweet how it came full circle."

"I glad you're happy about it, but I would rather have kept it as an honest example than having to prove it."

"Yea. Tryin' to find a silver linin' in all this is all." Applejack said. Rarity looked into the pony's eyes. So gentle and calming considering they survived a small house fire. The unicorn would probably be causing a scene if her rock wasn't here to support her. She never took to account how Applejack was the one to quell the pony's tendency to overreact to any situation if given the right parameters. Her girlfriend was always their to balance her actions to keep the peace and have everything running smoothly. She had never been so grateful for being with Applejack than today. With this realization she felt a pep in her actions. She snatched the pony's stetson with her mouth and playfully ran around the boutique while Applejack was happily playing along with the unicorn's antics.

Soaking went and cold, Rarity found the home's back door and ran into the kitchen. With the smoke now gone, Rarity brought out towels for both her and Applejack. "Hey, can you give me my hat back."

"I was." Rarity said while levitating it on her head. "It's not like I would ever keep it. I know it means a lot to you."

"Yea, but it means a little more now." Applejack quickly took it off her head and dug into the flips on the inside. Rarity's eyes exploded at the sight of silver and sapphire. Applejack was holding in her hoof a silver necklace and the centerpiece was a little blue replica of their fire of love.

"Applejack...I'm-I'm speechless..." Rarity said with winded lungs.

"I know I'm the one that said don't do anythin' big, but I knew you would have been sore if I did nothin'." Rarity slowly approached the jewelry and was amazing by its' peerless design. Being around gems all day has made her an expert on cuts and this one was flawless. "I can't take all the credit. I really needed help to make it special so I got the girls together to bounce some ideas around till it was when I mentioned our Hearth's Warming Eve fight and how it ended. Twilight, the genius she is, came up with the necklace and Fluttershy helped me at the jewelery store to make sure I didn't mess up."

As much as Rarity wanted to examine the pendant further, Applejack placed the necklace around her neck. She couldn't hold in her affection any longer and wrapped her hooves around the farmer. She whispered "Thank you. It's so beautiful. I'm so happy that you were hypocritical this one time. I love you Applejack."

"I love you too, Rare." she echoed back. Rarity was putting her full weight into the pony and she was kissing the farmer. Eventually she pinned Applejack to the wall, and was keeping her word. Small simple, sensual pecks on her lips. Applejack, being the aggressor had some light tongue play, but stopped the session. "I know I'm not one to complain about bein' dirty, but I'm more than certain I'm just coated with soot and not to scare you, but yer white coat is shades of gray at this point."

Rarity looked at her hooves. She almost screamed as her coat was a mixture of mud and soot. Applejack went to grab a mop and bucket while the pony was is a frozen daze of hysteria. The farmer threw a shammy cloth on Rarity's face. Applejack laughed and got to work in the kitchen. Rarity laughed back at the playfulness and got to work on the counters. "That pony. I wonder if it wasn't her then who sometimes. The answer I come up with is that none of them would truly put up with my nonsense the way she does. She knows how to handle me in any and all situations whether it be romantic, lighthearted or serious bouts of drama, but never tries to change me. She accepts me for who I am. Even now, she didn't flinch when she fetched cleaning supplies to help out. Seems no matter what mess I make she'll help me clean it up."
