In the previous chapter: Things were becoming more and more dangerous for Aly and Olivia. That didn't stop Olivia and Elliot from giving into their feelings and sleeping together. There was a drive by shooting at Aly's school, leaving multiple casualties in its wake, one of which was a badly injured Jake, to whom Aly had only grown more romantically closer to.

Chapter 10

Elliot, Olivia, Fin and Cragen were all standing in an unoccupied hospital room. They were discussing the fact that Aly was clearly a target now. Whether it was dead or alive. Knowing this fact made Olivia and Elliot feel sick to the pits of their stomachs. They had to protect her. This meant bringing the whole team on board. It scared Olivia to tell more people about herself and the life she'd had to live, but she knew she had to. She figured she could trust Rollins and Amaro, having only heard good things about them.

"So, it's agreed," Cragen said, "We'll tell the rest of the team tonight?"

Olivia nodded, "God, I hope this is the right thing to do!" she said looking at Elliot with worry in her eyes.

"It is," Elliot said as he took hold of her hand, giving it a supportive squeeze, "You can trust them."

Olivia nodded and then looked over at Fin. She could tell he was hurting, he had been lied to, and she hated to be the one having caused him the hurt. "Fin, it's so good to see you again. Its good to see all of you. You have no idea how much I missed you all."

Fin nodded. He wanted to be angry at her, but truth was he was just too happy she was back. "Just promise me you are sticking around this time. Elliot has been a fantastic Dad to Al, there ain't no-one who could take her from him, but she needs you in her life too, Liv." Fin said.

"I know. I couldn't thank Elliot enough for raising Aly. I promise you, I'm not going anywhere again," Olivia replied. But the truth was she didn't know what would happen when this was all over with.

They were all distracted from the conversation when Melinda came rushing in. "The nurses are done with Aly! We can talk to her now." she told them all with a smile.

Aly was in a standard hospital gown, but she refused to stay in her standard hospital bed. She was pacing back, and forth, in front of the window. She was angry, sad, and scared all at the same time. Elliot, Olivia, Fin, Melinda and Cragen were all in the room with her, all trying to comfort her in whatever way they could.

"Who else was hurt, because of me?!" she yelled, asking no one in particular.

"That doesn't matter now," Olivia said, not wanting Aly to have the burden of knowing about the injuries and fatalities of the shooting.

"It does matter!" Aly snapped, stopping and turning to face them, "It matters a lot! This all happened because of me. Jake, is having surgery because of me!"

"None of this was your fault," Elliot said, trying to reassure her. He tried to place his hand on her shoulder but she angrily pulled back and ducked below his hand and began pacing again.

"Well it feels like it!" she snapped!

"Aly, you need to sit down. You should be resting," Melinda suggested.

"I'm fine!" she told her matter-of-factly, "I wanna see Jake!"

"You can, as soon as he comes out of surgery."

Aly moved over to the window and stood in front of it, her back to everyone. She had her arms wrapped protectively around herself. She couldn't stop her eyes from filling with tears, threatening to fall uncontrollably. "I can't believe he is in surgery just because he was trying to protect me," She turned t face them all again, hating the pitiful looks they all cast at her, "Please, tell me who else was hurt?" Aly asked.

"Not now!" Elliot told her, in a tone that told her that was the end of it.

Aly just sighed and turned to face the window again. She rested her forehead against the cold glass and remained there until she was discharged.

Much to her delight, as soon as she had been discharged, Aly had been allowed to see Jake. She was surprised that his parents were so understanding towards her. It only showed to her where Jake got his kindness and compassion from. They had hugged her, wished her well and even thanked her for being such a good friend to their son. It all just made Aly feel even more guilty. She wasn't sure she could ever be as good a friend to Jake as he was to her. He had stood in front of bullets for her. She wasn't sure how she could ever repay him.

Olivia and Elliot were not letting Aly out of their sight, and so when she went into Jake's private room to see him they stood silently in the corner.

Aly rushed over to Jake's bed, where he lay with a big smile on his face. "Hey," Jake said to her. She wanted to hug him so bad, but she was scared she would hurt him. There was also a part of her who wanted to hit him, yell at him for being so protective.

"If you ever block a bullet for me again, I will shoot you myself!" she yelled at him.

"Most people would just say thanks," Jake replied weakly.

"You could have died!" Aly snapped at him, almost punching him in the arm, but quickly stopping herself .

"But you would have been safe," he replied.

Aly smiled for a moment before remembering she was mad at him. She quickly tried to look angry again and said, "Jake, I never want you to get hurt because of me!"

"Try and stop me," he said.

Aly smiled and then laughed a little before Jake patted the bed beside him. Knowing what he meant, Aly gently climbed up onto the bed next to him and cuddled up to his side. She lay with her head resting softy on his uninjured shoulder. Her arm was draped across his stomach, and he had his arm resting over hers.

Olivia watched on smiling, but when she turned to face Elliot she saw a look of confusion on his face, "What's this?" Elliot asked her, pointing to Aly and Jake.

"This is our daughter in love." Olivia told him.

"Oh," Elliot replied, "Wait, what!?" he asked.

"Come on!" Olivia said, chuckling, as she shoved him out of the room.

"Liv, should we be worried?" he asked, his voice dripping with fatherly concern.

"Oh, yeah!" Olivia replied sarcastically, purposely trying worry him more. It was fun seeing him squirm.

Aly and Jake were safe now, and they could protect them just as well from outside the room. There was no other way into it.

~0~0~0~0~

Elliot, Olivia and Aly had all been checked into a hotel for their own protection. There was a uniformed officer outside the room, one in the hotel lobby, and a unit outside the hotel. Aly wasn't happy that her dog, Luna, had been put into a kennel, but was happy that she was at least safe there at least. Aly had been quiet after leaving the hospital, she had barely spoke a word to either Elliot or Olivia. She had been in her room at the hotel since they had arrived there.

Their hotel apartment was large and luxurious. It consisted of a sitting area, with two bedrooms leading off on either side of the room. Both bedrooms had en-suites. Olivia had gone in to check on Aly only to discover she had locked herself in the bathroom, to take a long bath.

Elliot was in the small kitchen. They had ordered pizza and fries to the room and he was plating some up for Aly.

"I'm worried about her, Liv" he confessed to Olivia who sat at a breakfast bar in front of him.

"She's been through a lot," Olivia reminded him.

"She's always been such a strong kid, but I can see that she's struggling with all of this."

"I don't blame her, El. She knows people were hurt at the shooting, its only a matter of time until she realises people deid too. She almost lost her best friend today,"

"I wish the little punk was only her best friend," Elliot said bitterly

"That punk probably saved her life,"

"I know, but I still don't like the idea of them...dating..." he had to drop what he was doing and rest his hands on the worktop. Olivia watched with a smirk on her face as he leant over it, the thought of Aly dating making him dizzy.

Olivia found it highly amusing. "El, how old were the other Maureen, Kathleen and Lizzie when they started dating?"

"I don't know...!" he whined, "She's still my youngest baby, Liv," he said.

Olivia's smile faded at his remark. He was right, she was his baby, be it an older baby. But, she knew what he meant. He had raised her. All Olivia could claim responsibility for was giving birth to her, being a mother to her for such a short time it could barely count.

"I need to have the talk to her, don't I? I mean, I think Kathy may have had it with her too, but, I need to be sure!"

Although part of her was grateful, part of Olivia was jealous that Kathy had got to have that conversation with her daughter. "Let me talk to her about that, El. But, I don't think tonight is the right time. Let me take her food to her," Olivia said as she stood up and grabbed the plate from him.

Elliot watched her walk over to Aly's room, knock gently, and then go inside, closing the door behind her.

Inside, Olivia found Aly sat on the edge of her bed. She had already changed into some pyjama's but her hair hung combed but wet down her back, signs of her bath. Olivia placed the plate of food down on the bedside table. She stood in front of Aly, looking down at her, but Aly was looking down at the bed, where her phone sat, the screen showing Olivia what Aly had looked up.

Aly choked on tears as she told Olivia what the news report on her phone had informed her of, "Mrs Watkins was shot in chest, just like Jake, she didn't make it. Two students, and Mr Perry my gym teacher...all dead! His wife had just had twins,"

Olivia could only look at her daughter with sympathy, "I know" Olivia said softly.

"They all died instead of me," Aly said, her heart wracked with guilt.

"You can't blame yourself,"

Aly didn't answer her, she just dropped her face into her hands and cried. Olivia sat down on the bed next to her and pulled her into a hug. She sat with her chin resting on top of Aly's head and continued to hold her, and just let her cry.

Vince was stood in the kitchen with his brothers Aidan and Brendan. They all had beers and a cigarette in their hands. They were talking, discussing how the shooting had gone wrong, how the abduction attempt had gone wrong. Most importantly how Olivia was in fact still alive. She had been spotted by their cousin who was following Aly.

Vince loved the idea that she was still alive. It meant he got another shot at her. He wanted to break her down, imprison her like he had been imprisoned for years. They had put two and two together and realised that she was behind the failed abduction. What was worse for them, was that they had figured out why their plans had gone wrong, how she had been informed. The shooting failure was just bad aiming, and one loved up school boy who had protected Aly from a shower of bullets. However, Vince was glad about that. He had been angry about the shooting, he wanted Aly brought to him alive.

"If what we are thinking is true, then we can't let them get away with it," Brendan snapped.

"We won't!" Vince said.

"Was fucking a cop really worth all of this?" Aidan asked.

"This hassle is worth every inch of her. I wouldn't change what I did to her for anything in the 'll see what I mean when I get her back, and I know just the bait I need to draw her out."

"So, what have we decided here? After all, if our darling sister, Darla, is Olivia's informant then she has to be punished. You don't betray family!" Brendan said before taking a long drag on his cigarette.

"She will be, but not until I say," Vince warned them.

"She's a leak!" Aidan pointed out.

"Yeah, she is. And leaks lead to much bigger spills," Vince said knowingly. "And it's the bigger spill I want most. I gotta have Olivia back."

Olivia walked out of Aly's room and quietly shut the door behind her.

"She okay?" Elliot asked.

Olivia sighed deeply and rubbed her tired eyes. "No," she replied honestly. She had no reason to lie to him. "She used her phone to look up the news. She knows people died at the shooting."

"Fucking modern technology!" Elliot growled, kicking himself for having not thought to take her phone away from her.

"She was always going to find out," Olivia told him as she lowered herself down onto the arm of the couch, groaning in discomfort. Her body ached, still needing very much to recover.

Elliot saw this and realised she should be in bed, resting, she was still very much healing. "Come on, Liv, you need to get some food and then get to bed."

"I'm not even slightly hungry, El."

"Bed then?" he asked.

Olivia half smiled at him and nodded.

It was about 3.30am when her phone buzzed. Olivia woke up in bed, careful not to wake Elliot. She reached out to the bedside table and picked up her cell phone. She saw a text message from Darla. Darla had been helping Olivia out since the first time she had come back to New York after her "death".

Olivia trusted Darla. Darla, had been the one to tell her about the abduction plan. That had been the only reason Olivia could save Aly. She scanned the message. It was the usual, just a time and a place for them to meet.

Olivia rolled onto her side to check that Elliot was still sleeping. He was. She carefully climbed out of the bed, again being careful not to wake him, and pulled on her clothes. Dark jeans and a loose long sleeved black v-neck shirt. She left the bedroom and crept into the living room, not about to turn the lights on and risk waking up Elliot or Aly. She had to swallow back a yelp when her toes on her right foot connected with the solid oak base of a side table, next to the couch. "Son-uva-bitch..." she muttered under her breath. The pain was awful, but she quickly reminded herself she had worse, and forced it out of her mind.

She pulled on her shoes and grabbed her leather jacket off the back of the couch. It would be a short cab ride, and a short walk, into a small park to where Darla wanted to meet. Olivia suddenly did something stupid. She walked over to Elliot's holster and took out his gun. She trusted Darla, she truly did, but she felt braver with the gun.

She crept over to the door and crept out. She thought her act had gone unnoticed, but she was wrong. Aly had been watching through a small gap in her bedroom doorway, wondering where Olivia was going, terrified she was leaving her again. She decided she was going after her. She quickly ran back into her room, and pulled on a pair of black Ugg boots over her pyjama bottoms. She grabbed her coat and phone and chased after Olivia, hoping she hadn't already lost her...again.

The elevator was in use, so Aly had to run down the stairs, all the way to hotel lobby. She quickly realised she would never get past the officer charged with protecting them, although Olivia managed it with ease.

Aly watched Olivia head out of the lobby doors. She pulled her hood up over her head and waited for a moment, suddenly she had it as a drunken man, with a tall skinny redhead on his arm, walked into the lobby. They were both clearly very drunk and making a lot of noise. The officer walked over to them and asked for ID and their hotel room number. With him distracted Aly ran out from behind them and left the hotel unnoticed.

She made it onto the street intime to see Olivia climb into a cab across the road. Not willing to fall behind she knew she had to follow. She ran across the street and climbed into another waiting taxi. "Follow that cab ahead!" she told the driver.

"Beat it kid!"

"Please! I have the money to pay you, my mothers in that car and she's going to leave me again if I don't catch up to her. Please!" Aly begged.

The driver shook his head, hating that he was falling for Aly's pleading. "You better be able to pay kid!"

Aly released a sigh of relief and flopped back in the seat as the taxi pulled out. It caught up to Olivia's taxi, following just a couple of cars behind. Aly's heart was pounding the whole time. She kept going through what she was going to say to Olivia if she was in fact leaving again. She couldn't see why else she would be running out alone at such a time.

~0~0~0~0~

After what felt like forever the taxi driver finally pulled up on the side of the street. Olivia's taxi had pulled up moments before and she was already out of it. Aly watched her check the street before she headed into a small park, that in the day frequented families enjoying picnics in the sun, or using the kids play area. Aly couldn't understand why she would come here.

Aly reached into her pocket and pulled out some notes. She looked at the machine in the front of the cab and realised she didn't have enough money to pay. "I'm really sorry!" she said as she threw the few dollars she had at the driver and jumped out.

The driver yelled after her, but he was too slow getting out of the cab, and so, by the time he did get out Aly had already disappeared into the dark park.

Aly remained in the shadows as she followed Olivia. She stopped when she saw Olivia come to a stop by a bench under a lamp post. There was another woman waiting there, and she watched as the two women hugged. She moved closer, hoping to hear what the two women were saying.

"Thanks for coming. How is Alyssa after the shooting?" the other woman asked.

"Her arm was injured when she was pushed to the floor for protection. Other than being overrun with guilt, she's okay." Olivia replied, "Why did you want to meet up?" Olivia asked.

Aly was struggling to hear them, she needed to move closer but the sound of a twig snapping behind her froze her to the spot. Her heart was pounding so hard in her chest she thought it was going to burst out from it. She turned slowly only to come face to face with a tall, well built man. She opened her mouth to scream but the man slapped his hand down over her mouth. He easily wrapped his other arm right around her petite body.

She tried to scream but his hand muffled her cries as he carried her further into the shadows.

"Olivia, you need to get Alyssa as far away from the city as you can get!" Darla told her, panic evident in her voice. She shoved a brown A4 size envelope into Olivia's hands. "There's money in there. Fake passports for you and Alyssa too, a fake drivers license. Everything you will need to disappear."

"I can't just leave!" Olivia replied.

"You can. You have to if you want to keep Alyssa safe!" Darla warned her, "I have to go, promise me you will do this! Keep my niece safe." Darla said with a smile.

Olivia smiled back at her then looked down at the envelope in her hands. She pulled out the passports and drivers license. They were good. Olivia would never have guessed them to be fakes. She did have to wonder where Darla had got their pictures from. However, she quickly reminded herself how resourceful Darla was and could be. She couldn't belive the woman came from the same family as Vince. She was good, kind at heart really.

She looked up to thank Darla, however foud she was gone. She did this often. One minute she would be there, and the next gone without a trace. "Thank you," she said anyway. She knew Darla was right, this was the best thing to do, she just had to work out if she could take Aly from Elliot.

She tucked the envelope under her arm inside her jacket and turned on her heels. She began making her way out of the park as the rain began to fall. It was heavy and she pulled her hood up over her head, forgetting about the envelope tucked under her arm. The envelope fell to the floor with a loud 'splat'

"Shit!" she cursed as she quickly bent down to grab hold of it.

She suddenly cried out in pain as she was kicked from behind. She threw her arms out in an attempt to break the fall but it was a failed attempt and she felt her cheek graze against the hard concrete path.

She quickly tried to push herself up, knowing she needed to go for her gun, but a heavy boot pressed down on her back, holding her in place. She felt her attacker reach down and toss her jacket to one side. She knew exactly what they were looking for. Wrong side she thought to herself. A second later her attacker hit the spot and grabbed her gun.

"Your gun failed you before, and has done again," her attacker said.

The voice was so familiar. She would never get it out of her head for as long as she lived. A cold shiver ran down her spine. A moment later she winced in pain as she felt Vince tangle his hand into her hair and rip her up from the ground. She daren't move when she felt the barrel of the gun come to rest under her chin.

She groaned in disgust when she felt Vince nuzzle his face against her cheek, before burying his face into her hair and breathing in her smell. "God, you smell as sweet as you did all those years ago. I wonder if you'll still feel as sweet when I'm inside you again. This is so perfect. I thought it would have been days, weeks, before I got you back again, but here we are. This is perfect!" Vince growled into her ear.

She tried to rip herself free from his grasp but his hand remained tangled in her hair and all she did was cause herself more pain. Vince jabbed the gun harder into her neck with such force it was sure to bruise. "You might want to stick around when you see what I found."

Olivia was confused until another man, Brendan, Vince's brother, stepped around her, moving to stand in front of her. Olivia saw Aly struggling to break free from Brendan's grasp. Her wrists bound together with a ridiculous amount of duct tape. There was a strip over her mouth. but still Aly tried to call out to her. Her legs were also wrapped with duct tape, just above her knees, as were her ankles. Olivia could see she had lost a boot and could only presume a struggle had occurred.

"This one's a fighter. Kicked me hard in the fucking leg when I started tying her up."

"That's my girl!" Vince said proudly.

"Quit fighting when I slammed my fist into her gut!" Brendan said.

"You hurt her again, and I swear to God you will regret it!" Olivia growled at him.

Brendan held Aly easily in a one-arm-hold around her waist as he reached up and grabbed her face, and brought it next to his own. "Don't worry, I like my girls to have a bit of fight in them."

Olivia pulled forward to lunge at Brendan, almost freeing herself from Vince's grip, but he quickly pulled her back and aimed the gun at Aly. "No! Please!" Olivia begged him.

"This game is played one way, Olivia. You do as I say and co-operate, or I will burry a bullet in juniors sweet innocent face."

"Don't hurt her, please!" Olivia begged.

"Then be a good girl, and do as I say."

"Fine," Olivia said, not wiling to put Aly in danger.

Aly began to squirm in panic when Brendan pulled a loaded syringe out of his pocket. "What is he going to give her?" Olivia asked, her heart pounding with worry.

"Oh, no, sweetheart. That's not for her. It's for you. It's just a little something to make you sleep on our journey." Vince told Olivia, in a voice as soft as one would use to soothe a frightened child.

"Journey where?" Olivia asked.

"To the family home," he replied.

Olivia flinched, but managed so strangle a grunt of discomfort when Brendan stabbed the needle of the syringe into her neck. She felt the fluid flush into the system, within seconds she began to feel its effects. She felt her legs begin to grow weak first, followed by the rest of her body.

"She'll be out like a light," Brendan said as he tossed the syringe to the floor.

He was right, Olivia collapsed back into Vince who released his grip on her hair, and tucked the gun into the back of his jeans so that he could scoop her up into his arms. "Lets get back to the van before Aidan thinks we forgot about him." Vince said.

The two men carried Olivia and Aly back to the va,n and from there they faced a long, uncomfortable journey in the back of a cold black van.
