So, what would happen if Kagome, Inuyasha, Kikyou and Okitoki reversed roles? Well, it would be more strange... Starting all about 50 years ago...
^_^ I like to thank Rumiko Takahashi-san for creating such a wonderful series. And for making the amazing people Inuyasha and his friends are now in the F.A. I only own my own ideas for this story.
Chapter Ten: Threat Again!
She snarled before she took him back to Souta's, standing watch and never letting her eyes leave him. 'I am so stupid... I nearly lost him... I should let him go, yet... I... Can't. He's too important to me. I'll never let that happen again.' She saw him stir and wake up. "Inuyasha? Are you awake?"
"I see.. You did come for me after all." He said, struggling to sit up as she helped him.
"Are you okay? Take it easy already..." She said before helping him to a secluded hill, sitting beside him, looking right at him. "I'm so sorry about what happened. Again, like an idiot, I wasn't there for you..."
"It's okay, really."
"It is not! I let you get into some serious danger!" She snapped before hiding her eyes. 'Any later... and I would've lost Inuyasha too..'
"If you heard any news about Okitoki's whereabouts, you'd go off to look for him again, right?"
"As if! I would never leave you again, Inuyasha."
"Liar."
"I am not!"
"You so are! Who do you think you're kidding?! I've known you long enough to learn a few things about you, ya know, and you'd definitely go!" He shot back as Kagome's ears flattened a little at the truth and she growled a tiny bit before he spoke again. "And when you do, I'll be upset.. That's become the normal thing, right?"
Seeing the pure honesty in his amber eyes made her own widen. "Inu...Yasha..." She was a little surprised when he pulled her closer. "You're really mad, aren't ya?"
"Yeah, I suppose I am, but..." He sighed before resting his head on hers.
She melted a little more and smiled. 'Thank you, Inuyasha...'
One day, they finally got a break in their hunt for Naraku, he had been sighted near a lake, but unfortunately, Kagome was a human and, unlike Inuyasha, she was powerless in this form, having to hide in a hut while the others fought.
"All set." He said, getting the sword set on his hip.
"Inuyasha. You better come back to me." She said, her brown eyes showing her seriousness. Since their little 'argument', she had let her guard down more around him, but still had no idea how to express how much he meant to her. Her grip on her bow relaxed when he nodded. As soon as he left, she sighed. "I hate being this way... It's dangerous in more ways than one."
Myoga hopped onto her shoulder. "I understand completely, Milady... Your emotions are much closer to the surface... Especially those directed towards Lord Inuyasha."
Nodding, she tightened her fists. Only Myoga knew how much she cared about Inuyasha and, with a promise of certain death if he spoke of it to anyone else, kept it between the two of them. She even admitted never feeling this way about even Okitoki. She stopped fighting the fact he carried her, actually enjoying the warmth she felt. "I can't help it, but... He makes me feel like I belong..." She stood up and went to a window, seeing that Naraku's true form was heading her way. "Myoga, get out!" She said right as the spider crashed into the hut.
"KAGOME!" Inuyasha's shout echoed as the sun rose.
The dust cleared and Kagome had her arrow trained on him. "Sorry to keep ya waiting... Naraku..." They all fought the monster that had caused so much harm to everyone and, after a long process, finally took him down. Kagome hid herself in Inuyasha's arms against the wind, both of their eyes not once leaving the scene.
"Shippou. Look." Miroku said, showing his hand to them all.
"The Wind Tunnel has disappeared!" They all said in unison, Inuyasha smiling, Kagome stunned, Sango happy and Shippou shocked.
They all then went their own ways, Sango going after Kohaku; Miroku heading back to the shrine; Kagome, Inuyasha and Shippou sticking together, even with her letting him go home now that Naraku was dead. She sighed and stared at the sky, wondering what to do now that Naraku was dead, having fulfilled her promise to Okitoki while realizing that her promise to Inuyasha also was done in a way. She had sworn to protect him and she had done that, to a point, thus making it almost null-and-void for her to make him keep coming here if he didn't want to. True, there were still shards around, but, if they collected the shards, what then? She still wanted to be a full-demon, despite knowing how that'd make her friends feel.
When she had broke her bow the first time against Goshinki, her mind was not her own and she nearly slaughtered an entire village. It was because Inuyasha used the beads that she reverted back. However, the second time was worse: she literally tore threw an army of bandits without a second thought, barely able to know what was happening. Only when Inuyasha gave her bow back did she turn back, but the damage had been done and she felt sick thinking about it. The third time was when she had let go of her sword, which was also used to seal her demon blood away, and she tore through a demon before she herself retrieved the sword.
If she turned into that permanently, she'd lose what consciousness she has, but she would be strong enough to protect Inuyasha at all costs without regretting it. There was also the fact the Jewel of Four Souls would become corrupt and need to be purified, which there was only three people capable of doing so: Souta, who was old as dust, Miroku, who was perverted and shit, and Okitoki, who was dead. That was before her mind remembered that Inuyasha could purify it, only in his human form, however. She wondered if he'd want to be human and not deal with having pretty much three people in him: his human side, his demon side and the half-demon side.
Plus, she might forget the things she had now. She wanted strength, but now... She also wanted Inuyasha to be happy, too. Her ears twitched, hearing and smelling Okitoki. "Hey."
"I figured you'd be here..."
"Guess I haven't changed." She said, smirking before sighing. "Listen, Okitoki... I know I got revenge for what Naraku did to us... But.."
"I can already tell what you're going to say. Let me say it: I won't bring you to hell. Seeing you so happy with your friends, it made me realize you never were that happy even with me." He said.
"Oki-"
"I understand. You love me, but you've grown to love him as well. I'm the past, Kagome. The future is yours." He smiled softly. "Besides, I'm dead and nothing could happen anyhow. I appreciate your friendship."
Kagome blinked and nodded after a while. "I do love ya, that's true. I realized that it was a passing love in the end. He'll never believe me, though... He has it drilled into his head that I only love you."
"He's truly my reincarnation in that respect. He is unique. In his time, you say he remains a human, yet here, he's a half-demon." He sat beside her and turned thoughtful. "Perhaps you should consider... becoming human for him?"
Her heart broke at that, knowing last time she tried, Naraku made it impossible. "But, I want to be stronger and that is becoming a full-demon."
Okitoki chuckled. "Still stubborn. If you'll be happy, then go for it." With that, he stood up and walked away, vanishing within moments.
Sighing, Kagome stood up before smelling Inuyasha and heading to meet him. "Back already? Has it been three days? Shit."
"Yeah... Why?" He looked at her before furrowing his eyebrows. "You saw him again, didn't ya?"
"So? I get bored, ya know? And we just talked, so chill. He released me from that promise." She said, not looking away from him. Normally, she'd avoid eye contact due to feeling guilty, but now, she wanted to show that nothing happened. Sighing, she shrugged. "Whatever. Ya won't believe me anyhow, let's just go. There are shards to collect anyhow." She turned and put her arms into her kimono, to hide the clenching of her fists at the pain of her words, knowing it was true. He would never trust her words and she needed to decide whether to try or just give up already.
There was a distance between them for a little bit, until they ran into a traveling lady, getting bullied. "Please allow me passage, good men."
"Come on, lady... You've gotta let us have some fun."
"Move it, princesses." Kagome said, pushing right passed them.
"Hey, you can't just walk through, bitch! There's a toll."
Shippou grumbled. "She's not in a good mood."
"You wanna see someone not in a good mood?!"
"I'm serious... You should really apologize."
"Too fuckin late." Kagome replied, beating them all with her bare fists.
"I humbly thank you for helping me. Take these." The woman said, giving them some fruit. "They're very healthy."
Kagome tilted her head. "What's in the package then?"
"Something important I must destroy. I cannot tell you why."
Kagome shrugged and huffed. "Well, let's get goin... Gotta do shit." She grumbled, her ears tuning into the conversation behind her, since the girl, Anika Arishi, was heading their way for a little bit. A part of her wished she could be able to get into a deep conversation like Inuyasha could with anyone he met. Perhaps it has to do with the fact he's not from here... This time is in 'books' and there are 'classes' about it, while it's normal for me... I guess, he doesn't need to stay... Once we get the jewel, he can go home and I can turn into a full-demon.' Her nose picked up on the scent of wind and she stopped.
"What's up, Kagome?" Inuyasha asked.
"That scent... Damnit!" She took off before another question could be asked, following the scent of not only wind, but of Naraku, a scent she had long ago imprinted into her skull and senses. She stopped at a large side meadow, staring down two of Naraku's incarnations: Kagura, the wind sorceress that could raise the dead and Kanna, the girl who had once tried, and failed, to take Inuyasha's soul with her mirror that could absorb or reflect whatever she saw fit. "Kagura..."
"Kagome... Today, you die!" Kagura said, sending wind blades her way.
Immediately, she dodged and took her sword out, figuring it was the better choice, since Kagura sucked at close-quarters while Kagome knew she wasn't the best at ranged. She was about to finish off the two when her attacks were suddenly absorbed by a black orb, which made her freeze in both confusion, yet shock.
"Kagome, I see your true nature, I can give you your wish... The wish of becoming a monster." A voice said, as if it were a natural conversation.
"The hell you talkin about?" She was clearly confused.
"If you serve me, I will give you what you desire..."
"Sounds sketchy. No thanks!" Kagome growled as her ears heard Inuyasha behind her. "Stay back. I don't trust this."
"But-"
"Stay back, I've got it." She snapped and rushed forward, only to be stunned when her earlier attacks were sent back at her.
"SIT!" At the command, she face-planted and the attack went right over her head.
"How pathetic! You need his help? How sad." Kagura taunted.
That struck a chord in Kagome's heart and she snarled as the attack dissipated, Kagura having a part of her Robe of the Fire Rat. Getting up, she breezed past Inuyasha, intent on now just focusing on the shards. She didn't care that she was missing a sleeve, she just needed to focus on one thing.
I'm gonna make the 'romance' part of the second movie an entire chapter, since it's focused on Kagome rather than Inuyasha... I'm gonna try to get into what probably Inuyasha felt and thought, but instead using Kagome. 8D
