Chapter Ten:
I am back an ready to deliver the next chapter! It is quite long, so beware! I hope you guys are prepared, because this chapter includes;
~More Chaos!
~Romance! (But not for who you think...)
~And...I guess that's 'bout it.
So let's get to it, shall we? (I had to separate the parts because it got so damn long!)
Part one:
I laid on my back, staring up at the blank ceiling above me. Jeff's peaceful breathing was the only sound in the room, other than my own. I couldn't sleep at the moment, so I decided to let my thoughts run free.
BEN had decided to try to sleep in my room instead of staying up and playing video games all night. Ty was sleeping in his own room. Turns out, Smile Dog took a liking to Ty and decided to sleep at the end of Ty's bed in his illusion form so as not to scare him.
As far as I could tell, everyone else was asleep.
I began to focus on the past few days. Thursday night, I was meeting BEN and Jeff for the first time, then the next morning, they follow me to school. Friday night, we all played a major prank on Jennifer. Earlier today, we found out why they were kept out of the Under Realm, and went to the carnival, where we had an awesome time and I found out that Jeff had a high-pitched scream. Then, we meet the Smile Dog, who is just as cuddly and cute as a normal house dog.
In the span of three days, I've had the time of my life. It's never been this crazy before, and needless to say, I was enjoying every moment. It doesn't feel that we have several killer beings living in our household. In fact, it feels quite normal.
My mind wandered to a question that throbbed in the back of my mind. What if BEN and Jeff are just using us? What if they plan to kill us if they get back to the Under Realm?
I shivered. Maybe letting them live with us wasn't a good idea? What if it just put both me and Ty in a regrettable position? I spared a glance at Jeff. He had a damp rag over his eyes, and his breathing was that of someone who was asleep. He hasn't proved any harm to us since he came here, except for our first meeting. I bluntly thought back to his knife. Where had he kept it?
His hoodie hung on the bedpost, so he was left in a black t-shirt. I was entirely grateful to that, seeing as I have already seen him shirtless and almost died of blood loss. I continue to stare at him, turning over to face him. He was quite handsome, even though his skin was bleached and he had his signature cut smile. It made me wonder how he looked before the incident. Despite everything, he's managed to act like a normal person. At least around us. I have no idea how he'd act if Ty and I wasn't around...
Jeff stirred in his sleep and I closed my eyes, peaking out from beneath my lashes. He turned on his stomach, stretched for a moment, then went still once more. I smiled. It was like watching a child sleep.
I continued to watch him. He turned his back against me, then faced me once more. I waited for him to go still before opening my eyes. Then, he muttered something incoherently.
I strained my ears to listen, and he said it again, and I recognized the syllables.
He had said my name.
I stiffened as he sleepily reached over to my side of the bed. His fingers brushed mine and I blushed. I watched him intently as his hand retracted and he stilled for a moment. I mistook him for asleep and I turned over to avoid facing him. What happened next was beyond my own comprehension.
I felt him shuffle, and before I knew it, his arms had found their way around my waist and pulled me closer to him. I stilled and he buried his nose into my hair, sighing peacefully. I blushed deeper, practically glowing like Rudolph's nose. After a few moments, I maneuvered around so that I was resting my head on his broad shoulders and he was on his back, his arm wrapped around my waist.
As odd as this would be if he was awake, it was actually comfortable to sleep like this. How I had not woken when he did this before was beyond me. I let myself enjoy this, falling asleep quickly.
Click!
I twitched at the sound, slightly awake at the moment. 'What was that?' I thought.
I heard a small collection of snickering and I peaked out from between my lashes. BEN and Ty stood over me, holding my digital camera.
I was awake instantly, trying to sit up and grab the device from them. A pair of arms were locked around my arms and I gasped as I pulled back. I turned my head, seeing Jeff still sleeping, his arms not giving away to my struggles. I tried to pry them loose, but they tightened.
'Why me?' I asked mentally. 'Why now?!'
"Jeff," I groaned, trying to pull myself from his iron grip. Seriously, how is he this strong while he's asleep?!
He mumbled something, turning over and bringing me over as well. Now, I was laying over the edge and he nuzzled my stomach. I giggled since I was extremely ticklish, still trying to get away.
BEN and Ty watched intently, continuing to snap photos.
"You bastard!" I said harshly, then remembered that Ty was standing right there. "Don't you dare say that,"
"Okay," he said, still smirking and giggling from behind his mouth.
"Wait till Jeffrey sees what he does in his sleep," BEN grinned.
"No!" I said. I was leaning dangerously over the edge, trying desperately not to fall off. Then a brilliant idea came to mind. I leaned all my weight over the edge, causing me to topple over, bringing Mr. Sleep-Cuddler with me.
"What the-" he gasped as he fell. I had received most of the damage, with him falling on top of me. I wheezed from under him, and he let me go, ripping off the rag. "How did-what the..." he stuttered.
"Just...get off," I whispered, trying to get my breath back. Despite his lean figure, geez, it feels like he weighs a ton!
"How did this happen?" he finally spoke.
"Man, Jeff," Ben spoke, causing Jeff to turn. "I thought it'd take longer for this to happen. You work fast, dude."
I blushed deeply again, and Jeff glared at BEN. I thought I saw a slight powdering of red on his face, but it was hard to tell because of the cut smile. I looked away. This was just a perfect way to start day four...
"Breakfast!' I called, placing the last omelet on the place mat. I heard everyone storm downstairs. "Did you turn off the light?"
Jeff, Ty, and Smile appeared without BEN, letting me know that he went back upstairs. He began to clatter downstairs when I called, "And the console?" More stomping up, then they came down. BEN appeared, exhausted. "Did you turn off the TV as well?"
"You know what," he growled, "Why don't you go fuck yourself?"
I laughed. "Just asking,"
After breakfast, the boys returned to my room, which I guess is now their playroom. I sighed, sitting on the couch. I sat there a few minutes, wondering what to do. I heard their loud gaming upstairs and decided that I would play my own little game downstairs. I climbed up the stairway to retrieve the Wii console. None of the boys noticed me, except Ty, who didn't question me and continued to watch BEN and Jeff go head to head. I brought all the components to the living room TV and hooked it all up. Then, I pulled out a game from the cabinet; JUST DANCE 4
With a few minutes of waiting for the loading screen, I turned the music up loud and began to dance to "Good Girl" by Carrie Underwood.
"Hey dude," BEN paused the game, causing Jeff to glare at him.
"What?"
"That music downstairs, what the hell is that?"
"It's Jasmine playing Just Dance," Ty answered. "She plays it most every Sunday. Sometimes I play with her, but she always beats me,"
BEN perked up at this. "i hear a challenge. Let's go check it out," he said, standing to his feet.
"Fine, but I'm not dancing," Jeff said.
"That's what I said when we first started playing," Ty mumbled.
I heard the boys come downstairs as the song continued. I pretended to not hear them come into the living room, following the motions on the screen. I felt them watch me, but I shrugged off their stares for the moment. I was going to get four stars on this song!
When it finished, I turned to them. "Anyone wanna try? I have controllers for everybody," I offered.
BEN was staring at the screen. "Not bad, Jasmine, but I would like to see how well you do up against me,"
I raised an eyebrow. "Do you seriously want to go against me?" I asked. "Are you sure? Have you played this before?"
BEN smirked. "I can master any game instantly. Why, are you scared?"
"For you I am," I chuckled. "This isn't just any game you can master, BEN. This requires stamina, skill, and the ability to not fall on your face."
He took hold of the second Wii remote. "I'll show you. I can master this game easily,"
I shrugged. "Whatever you say," I went to the main screen, chose Battle Mode, and chose "Disturbia" by Rihianna. "Choose the song you wanna dance to,"
After browsing the song list, BEN finally decided on "Moves Like Jagger" by Maroon 5 ft Christina Aguilera. And the battle begun.
Imma give you as many details as possible without BEN trying to murder me. Fist off, I won. Yes, I beat the great and mighty BEN Drowned in a video game. Turns out, he was a little too overconfident, and didn't follow the movements correctly, earning him two measly stars, compared to my four stars.
Jeff and Ty laughed at him, congratulating me. I bowed dramatically, turning to Jeff.
"Your turn," I said, handing him the second remote. He shook his head.
"Nope. I am not dancing."
"C'mon, Jeff. It's not going to kill you," Ty said.
BEN wasn't in the mood to say anything since he was beaten in a video game by moi.
"Please, Jeff?" I pleaded. I gave him my best puppy dog eyes.
He laughed. "You look like a retard when you do that,"
I groaned. "Will you just play? I'll go easy on you..."
He mimicked my groan, finally taking the remote. "Fine! But don't come crying to me when you lose,"
I smirked, tightening the strap onto my wrist. "I don't believe I'll be losing,"
"I can't believe I lost," I whispered, staring wide-eyed at the screen. Jeff had beaten me by a landslide. "i don't understand. How the hell did you beat me?!"
He smirked at me. "Told ya, don't come crying to me when you lose."
The rest of the day was spent battling each other in Just Dance. BEN ended up beating me, and Jeff was victorious each time, though he refused to tell us how. I thought BEN would have tried to hack the game to win, but I would've opened a can of whup-ass on him if he did.
But I guess it'll remain a mystery of how he mastered the game.
Bedtime came early since there was school the next day. BEN and Jeff decided not to attend tomorrow, to which I was grateful.
The next morning, I woke, managed to pry myself from Jeff's grip, and prepare myself for school.
As I came downstairs, I heard Ty call for me. "Smile is intimidating Ginger!"
I hurried to the backyard, where Smile had backed Ginger into the backyard. She wasn't able to do anything, and I had no idea what to do. Carefully, I approached the large husky. I panicked when I saw his head lower.
"Smile!" I said firmly. He seemed to ignore me, so I repeated his name. Still no reaction. I felt a terrible feeling grow in my gut as I assumed the worse. I went around his large body to try to see what he was doing to Ginger.
I gasped. It was more of what Ginger was doing to Smile!
The small beagle peppered Smile's muzzle with sloppy kisses. I sighed in relief, returning inside. I shut the door, leaving the two to themselves. I assumed that Jeff would be the responsible one and let them in later. Who am I kidding? This is Jeff we're talking about!
I chuckled to myself. I had Ty finish his breakfast and we left for a long, boring day at school .
Okay, I was right about the long, but it was for sure not boring.
Where do I start? Jennifer was a paranoid mess when I arrived. Her friends gathered around her as they tried to comfort her. I heard their murmurs of reassurance.
"It was just a dream," on of her side kicks murmured.
Jennifer spared a glance my way and I flashed a worried smile. "Is everything alright?" I asked innocently. "Did something happen?"
"Who invited the whore to the party?" Hanna snarled. She was stopped hurriedly by Jennifer.
"Leave her alone!" she whispered harshly. She smiled at me. "Nothing's wrong, Jasmine. I'm sorry for how I've been treating you. I hope you can forgive me?"
I nodded. "Sure. I can forgive you." I turned and walked away before I burst into a great laugh. I leaned against my locker and chuckled quietly to myself. "It worked!" I said quietly. "It actually worked,"
"You look super happy," someone said. I looked up and saw one of my only friends at the school, Emiko. "What's up?"
"Oh hey Emiko!" I said, giving her a hug. "How are you?"
"Not bad. Just the regular bull shit I have to deal with every other day," she laughed. Then she returned to the previous question. "So what's got you all happy?"
"Oh, Jennifer apologized to me about all the crap she put me through,"
Emiko's eyes widened in disbelief. "You're kidding?" I shook my head. "Did I black out and miss a major fight or something? Why would Jennifer, Miss High and Mighty, apologize to you?"
I shrugged. "I dunno," I lied. "It must be some kind of miracle."
The first bell rang. "WE gotta get to class," she said. "Sit with you at lunch?"
"I planned to go to Burger King today," I said.
"So I'll be hitching a ride." she said. I laughed.
"Fine, but don't expect me to buy you anything!"
We laughed, knowing she'd find some way to convince me to buy her a combo meal of some sort. We walked to our homeroom class, therefore beginning the longest day in history.
Lunchtime came, and Emiko and I climbed into my truck and we headed off to the nearest Burger King. There, we ordered our meals and sat n the dining area.
"So how's your life been going?" she asked me, chomping on a few fries at once.
I said casually, "Oh nothing much. Ty's a handful as usual and I got a new dog."
She stared at me. "A dog? You bought a dog?"
"Yes. Yes I did. She's a mute beagle named Ginger," I explained. "Spotted her in the mall window and thought that she'd be a perfect addition to our broken little family."
She nodded. "Good thing you're parents are never home, or they'd have a cow,"
"Please, I haven't receive a postcard in years. I just get the monthly check to take care of stuff. I highly doubt my parents are going to be home soon. I'll be a married woman before I see my parents again," I said, sipping on my soda. "What's going on with you,"
She waved a hand. "Same old, same old. However, there is something I want to ask you,"
I stared at my best friend as she told me what was going on in her mind. "I want to come over tonight,"
I nearly choked on my soda, the caffeinated beverage burning my nose. She wanted to what?!
"I, um, you see,"I stuttered.
Emiko narrowed her eyes, the greenish blue orbs holding suspiciousness. "Normally you don't hesitate on your answer. Are you not telling me something?"
"No!" I said quickly. "You just...caught me off guard. Sure you can come over!" I plastered a fake smile on my face.
Emiko smiled. "Whew! I thought you were hiding something from me. If that was the case, I wouldn't have let it go so easily. I'll be over about thirty minutes after school."
I continue to smile. "That's awesome, glad that you're coming over," I said through my teeth.
Lunch came to a close and it was back top our classes. My mind stayed on the situation, however. Emiiko was gonna find out about BEN and Jeff. I knew she was a true believer, but I wasn't so sure if that was a good thing. Taking Ty home took about fifteen minutes, which only left fifteen to get Jeff and BEN away from the wrecking ball that was Emiko.
Mkay, that was part one! Part two will be coming soon, and expect the new character(s) as well! Goodnight, folks!
