Oops. I'm really bad with dead lines..Especially this month cause I have hardly been keeping track of time..^^;;
But um, yeah. So here is the next chapter. I'm writing a reminder on my white board to post the next chapter on Friday as this chapter is *so* short. But it works better like that I think.
Edward lay his head down on the table and sighed. It had been two days since Roy had decided to stay with Ed while he was a wolf. At first he hadn't been very happy when Roy decided to walk him home from his work, because there was a higher probability that he would be seen if he came into the city. However once he heard the scratches and whispers outside his house he was glad Roy risked it.
At this point, Ed had already made both himself and Roy dinner and had already cleaned up. Roy was walking around the house, occasionally growling or barking at a window or door.
The amount of vampires outside his house, he guessed was about five at this point. Two had come the first night, one more joined it the next, and another two had come along tonight.
After the first night, when he'd nearly been scared to death just by looking out a window and suddenly seeing an abnormally pale, hissing face staring at him; Ed had taken to boarding up some of the badly scratched windows and closing the curtains on the rest. But there was nearly nothing he could do to stop himself from hearing the hisses, and occasional screeches outside of his house. The voices often whispered what sounded like promises of pain, torment and death, such as the ones he was hearing right now.
Rubbing his eyes he stared at the clock and was disappointed to see it was only nine.
Roy growled a warning at the vampire he could smell outside the door and he heard it back away hissing slightly. 'Damn these bloodsuckers just won't give up,' he thought angrily, another growl unintentionally ripping through his chest. He huffed and made another circuit of the house barking when necessary before making his way back to Edward, who sat at his table head down. Roy whined to get his attention; he met tired gold eyes with his own worried ones. The vampires surrounding the house were taking a toll on the blonde with their whispers and hisses.
Tugging on the blonde's pant leg gently Roy got Edward to stand and led him to the bedroom. Nudging the blonde until he sat on the bed Roy then jumped up beside him and laid down looking at Edward expectantly until he did the same.
Ed sighed as he moved back his covers and lay down. He knew the chance of him getting a goodnight's sleep was little, even with him going to bed so early. The vampires tended to know which part of the house he was in; despite leaving all of the lights in the house on to make them believe he was in different rooms. And once they all figured out where his room was nothing, not even Roy growling at them, would stop them from 'talking' to him.
Edward lifted the covers a little more, and Roy tucked himself in under them, his head now near Ed's. Ed wrapped an arm around the wolf and buried his face in the soft black fur.
He wanted to ask Roy desperately why the vampires were behaving like this, why him, just why? But he knew he'd feel bad that he wouldn't be able to answer him and that Roy probably already felt bad.
He closed his eyes and sighed, trying to sleep. Scrunching his eyes before opening them again, he saw that it was eleven thirty. And he'd been awake for every agonizing minute. Edward groaned and let Roy know he was still awake.
"I just can't sleep," he mumbled as he heard a louder than normal threat being whispered through the walls and figured another vampire had come along.
Roy whined and licked Edward's cheek, wishing there was something he could do. There was no chance however. There were too many vampires outside now for Roy to sanely go try to kill them all by himself. 'I'll give my brother a call tomorrow,' he thought as Edward pressed himself closer. 'He might know why the bloodsuckers are acting so strangely.'
…
Edward snuggled against his head against his pillow. He'd finally gotten to sleep sometime around one, his body was exhausted and he had more or less passed out. Ed felt arms wrap around him and he cuddled closer to the warmth.
And then Edward stopped. He opened his eyes wide and found that they were staring into amused dark blues ones…From a human face.
"Ah! What the hell!" Edward pushed himself back a little from Roy, blushing darkly as the man snickered at him.
"What? Not happy to see me?" Roy teased tugging the blonde closer again. "Last night was the last night of the full moon remember?" he grinned when Edward blushed a bit more.
"Oh, right, I knew that," Edward chuckled weakly at himself, before tucking his head under Roy's neck. "Of course I'm happy to see you. It just kinda slipped my mind is all." What with the stalking vampires outside his house, he'd forgotten.
Roy smiled and kissed Edward's temple. "Did you sleep well once you passed out?" He asked, gently stroking Edward's hair that had come loose of its normal braid.
Ed nodded and closed his eyes. "Yeah, I guess so. At least I couldn't hear those damn bastards anymore." He raised a hand to Roy's chest and traced a pattern on it and they were both quiet for a minute. "Roy?" Edward looked up into the man's blue eyes. "Why are they after me?"
"I don't know," Roy said quietly, sadness creeping into his eyes. "It's probably somehow related to me being around you though." He brushed the bangs that had fallen into Edward's face when he looked up at him out of the blonde's eyes. "I'm going to give my brother a call later; he should have some idea as to what's going on."
"Alright," Edward nodded and opened his mouth to say something, when both he and Roy jumped by his alarm clock going off. Ed sighed and looked up at Roy, shrugging.
"Looks like it's time for me to get ready for work," he leaned up a little, and pressed his lips to Roy's for the first time in days. Pulling back he got out of bed and made his way to his closet, hearing the bed creak behind him.
Roy stretched as he stood and belatedly realized he wasn't wearing anything. Normally on the last day of the full moon he would sneak into town and steal a pair of shorts or pants that someone had out to dry. This time since he had been protecting Edward he hadn't even thought about clothes. 'Not that I have to worry really,' he smirked and walked up behind the blonde who was still searching through his closet.
Roy wrapped his arms around Edward from behind and placed a kiss on his neck earning him a small gasp. "Would you happen to have some boxers or something I could borrow?" He whispered in the blonde's ear enjoying the blush that spread across Edward's face as he realized just what Roy's words meant.
Ed's jaw dropped as he tried to form words. He had to swallow a few times before he could successfully get anything out.
"You're joking right?" his voice came out a little on the squeaky side, but when Roy rubbed up against him a little, he knew he wasn't, and his face got darker. It continued to grow darker as he realized that he'd also had been sharing his bed with Roy, when the man had been naked.
He found himself fighting the urge to turn and look, to admire what was Roy. So instead of actually going to get the man pants, he just pointed to his dresser and stammered that he should be able to find boxers or pants in them to wear.
Roy chuckled darkly at Edward's obvious embarrassment and pressed another kiss to the blonde's neck. "What did you think my clothes magically transformed off and on to me when I change into a wolf?" He teased before moving away from the stuttering blonde to search the drawers for a pair of boxers that might fit him.
When he found a pair that was suitable and put them on, he turned back to Edward who had yet to face away from the closet. Grinning Roy made his way back over to the blonde and turned him around sharply causing Edward to gasp again, eyes shut tight. 'Still redder than a tomato,' Roy thought amused before tilting the blonde's head up gently with his fingers and leaning in to place a lingering kiss on Edward's lips. Once he felt the blonde relax into the kiss he pulled away slightly before saying quietly, "Thank you for the boxers, I'll return them to you at some point." He smirked as the boy's blush deepened.
"I can't believe you sometimes," Ed mumbled against Roy's lips. He held his uniform in his hands and walked past Roy into the bathroom, still able to hear the man laughing.
Getting out of the shower and getting dressed, he was a bit surprised to find that Roy had breakfast ready and waiting for him on the table.
"You didn't have to do that," Ed started as he came into the kitchen. He picked up the silverware and drink glasses and helped Roy set the table. Sitting down next to him, Edward leaned over and pecked his cheek.
Roy caught Ed's lips in a quick kiss before he could pull away. "I know but I wanted to," he smiled at the blonde who beamed at him before digging into the meal in front of him.
When they finished eating Roy offered to also clean up so Edward could get to work without having to rush. As he walked the blonde to the door Roy teased him, "This means you get to return the favor to me at some point."
When Edward turned and glared at him he pulled the blonde in for a kiss, stopping anything he would have said. Pulling away slightly Roy told him, "If you could stop by my place in between your shifts and grab some of my clothes that would be wonderful." He grinned at the blonde's blush, he seemed to have momentarily forgotten Roy wore nothing but a pair of boxers. "There's a spare key under the flowerpot on the porch."
Edward nodded as he backed away. "Sure thing." That meant Roy would be unable to escort him home from work. He was fine with that; he'd just take off a little earlier and be sure to get home before dark. "I'll see you when I get back!" He gave Roy a short wave before walking down the driveway, and down the street.
Roy waved as Edward turned down the street then shut the door and went to do the dishes. After he finished cleaning up he went into the living room grabbing another cup of coffee and the phone on his way. Sitting down at one end of the couch he dialed his brother. 'I hope he knows why the vampires are acting so strangely,' Roy thought worriedly as the phone rang. He heard the line connect. "Hello Maes? I need your help with something."
