Chapter 10
Shadowfang's mighty Thu'um shook the ground, and Feezira could feel something being pulled out of her. A stream of glowing red energy slowly flowed out of Feezira, and gathered a few metres in front of her. The energy shaped itself into a dragon, and faced Feezira. Shadowfang began to speak:
"Feezira, what you see before you is the feral energy of your Yolsil, which was released when you were turned by the werewolf. When bitten by a lycanthrope, the one who is bitten is injected with feral energy, which manifests into the bestial side of the victim. You already had a feral energy, so the bite instead released it. To control and use it, you must defeat your feral energy in battle. If you are victorious, you will be able to control and use your feral energy most of the time, but if you lose, the energy will remain feral and out of control. Your companion must not interfere, for this is your battle, so ready yourself. Krif!"
As soon as Shadowfang spoke the final word, the energy attacked, lunging at Feezira. Feezira unsheathed Odahviing's Tooth, as she knew her fire would not hurt this creature. Feezira slashed the dragon across the head, and it appeared to hurt it. The dragon opened its huge jaws, and blasted fire at Feezira. Feezira had a natural resistance to fire, but this fire stung her more than any other fire she had felt. Feezira slashed again at the dragon's face, and this appeared to hurt it significantly.
From nearby scorched trees, Ulmar had been watching. When he saw the dragon, he could not believe his eyes, but what really shocked him was the appearance of the founding alpha, Shadowfang. The pack had thought her dead, like the rest of Skyrim. After hearing Shadowfang talk, he came to understand why she had left. Ulmar knew he must tell no one about Shadowfang, for her sake. Ulmar watched on with awe as Feezira battled the dragon, and she seemed to be winning. Feezira slashed at the dragon's head fiercely, which stopped it from properly attacking.
Feezira used as much energy as she could muster to swing Odahviing's Tooth rapidly, and her efforts were rewarded. The Dragon was weakening, and, although it had struck some powerful blows, it was clearly losing. After a few more strikes, the dragon gave a feeble roar, and lay it's head on the ground. The dragon spoke:
"Zu'u Aam, In, Ol Zu'u Lost Mahiin Un Vukein"
The dragon dissolved into energy, and streamed into Feezira. Shadowfang nodded approvingly, and removed her mask.
"Your feral energy has been tamed, and you may now use it when you wish, as with lycanthropy. But be warned, it may still become out of control if you become out of control yourself. Now, I shall train you in how to use your bestial form, and how to properly control it. Odahviing, return to the island, I shall call you when I need you."
"Yes, Thuri"
Shadowfang dismounted Odahviing, and the mighty dragon flew away. Shadowfang removed her robes, revealing a set of strange fur armour underneath. She tucked the robes and mask into a leather bag, and handed it to Svadri. Svadri had been watching quietly, marvelling at the rare sight of a dragon. He knew he had to let Feezira do this alone, for this was her path. Svadri did not particularly like mages, but she was argonian, which made him friendlier towards her.
He had been raised by argonian parents in Cyrodiil, after he had been left at their doorstep. They were killed by pirates when he became 16, and he joined the legion shortly after. He had spent many years in the legion, and some of its discipline had rubbed off on him. He followed orders to the letter, and was loyal to those he considered friends.
Feezira told Svadri to stay back, and to look out for enemies. Svadri nodded, and unsheathed his sword. As the sun set, the clearing was bathed in a golden and red light, and Feezira smiled at its beauty. "To bring on the shift, you must concentrate, and release the beast from its cage" said Shadowfang, and she dropped to all fours. Her muscles seemed to ripple, and her body began to shift. Cracking sounds split the calm silence as her bones changed shape and locked into new positions.
Soon, a very, very large black sabre cat stood where Shadowfang had been. Feezira reached within herself, looking for her Yolsil. Feezira felt her whole body boiling, but this burn seemed to strengthen her. A red energy surrounded her, and shaped into a dragon, like her first transformation. This time, Feezira had control. Her body floated in the middle of the huge dragon, but Feezira felt as if her body was not her own. Shadowfang nodded her head, and turned, gesturing for Feezira and Svadri to follow.
Shadowfang ran through the forest, with Feezira and Svadri behind her. Shadowfang caught the scent of a large elk nearby, and began to slow down. From some bushes, the trio saw a large elk grazing in the moonlight, his magnificent antlers as big as dinner plates. Shadowfang crept up on the creature, her magnificent body not making a sound. She stopped, crouched and hunched, ready to pounce.
Feezira slowly crept up beside her, and assumed the same position. Svadri watched from the bushes, not daring to interrupt the two. Shadowfang pushed herself off the ground, and her huge bulk landed on top of the elk. Feezira joined her, and snapped at the elk's legs. Shadowfang bit down on its neck, to stop it from running.
Feezira sunk her teeth into the elk, silencing its cries. Shadowfang roared in triumph, and Feezira joined her. The two hunters gorged on the fresh meat of the elk, with Svadri watching nearby. Svadri was amazed at how well Shadowfang and Feezira had worked together. He silently looked on as they finished eating, the moonlight shining upon their backs. Shadowfang lay down, and started to doze off. Feezira and Svadri soon joined her.
Feezira woke to the sound of birds whistling nearby. Shadowfang and Svadri stood nearby, and Shadowfang had put her robes back on. She began to speak:
"Ah, you have awoken. It has been a long time since I last went to hunt, and I must admit, it feels good. I used to hunt regularly, back when I was the alpha, but my life of peace has restrained me. I miss my pack, and the bond that we shared. I still remember Ulmar, one of the brightest newbloods. I have left that behind me, but you, Feezira, have shown promise. You worked well with me, and have shown that you have control of your Yolsil, for the time being. I must go now, and I shall come when I am needed. Odahviing!"
Odahviing's roar soon echoed above them. The mighty dragon landed, and nodded at Svadri and Feezira. Shadowfang put on her mask, and climbed onto Odahviing. "Feezira, when I have left, look for the stone in the mouth of the wolf. You will figure out what I mean. Farewell!" Said Shadowfang, rising into the air
After Shadowfang had gone, Feezira thought about what she had said, and it soon clicked. Feezira took off the wolf amulet, and looked it over. She found a small button on the wolf's head, and pushed it, which made tiny hinges on the jaw of the wolf make it slowly open. Feezira smiled as the black pommel stone of Mehrune's Razor rolled into her palm
Author notes:
Camp was exhausting, but I churned out a chapter soon after I got back. I haven't forgotten about The Razor, I just haven't been focusing on it. Feezira can now control the energy of her Yolsil, but she cannot transform into her true form. If you are having trouble thinking of what the energy looks like when she uses it, picture a transparent, red, small dragon, with Feezira floating in the center. Feezira now needs to hone her newfound ability, in order to retrieve the final piece of The Razor.
