there are some dirty minds out there, lol. Well, I won't tease you any more. Enjoy, and meet me at the bottom:

Ch. 10- Oops

I had screwed up- big time. After brushing her teeth in my bathroom, Ness had only stayed a few minutes before declaring the whole thing a mistake and leaving.

I tried calling her, but she wouldn't answer. I tried texting an apology, but she didn't respond. Plus, that seemed kind of impersonal and it felt like I was taking the easy way out.

I hadn't meant to hurt her feelings. I panicked, and said something stupid. I didn't even think it was that big of a deal, but apparently, she was really insecure about the whole blood thing. I wasn't sure how to fix it, but I figured chocolate was a good idea. Ness was a picky eater, but she was just like every other female I knew when it came to chocolate. She'd talk to me, even it was just to get the heart shaped box of confections I'd bought on the way to her house.

The door jerked open before I could knock.

"Everything went blank about 5 minutes ago. What took you so long," Alice questioned.

"I was trying to make sure I knew what to say," I hissed, hoping that Ness wasn't paying attention to our conversation. "How is she?"

"My niece is a wreck, thanks to you." Alice stared at me pointedly. "What did you do?"

"I can't really- Look, I need to talk to her."

Jasper walked up then looking a little on edge. "Her angst is getting to me. I've been trying to combat it all morning, but she's really in a funk. You should fix it," he added, as if the thought hadn't occurred to me. "Edward's not too happy with you, either. I need to get away for a while, Allie."

He gave a quick nod of apology and raced off with Alice through the main entrance.

I wasn't alone for long.

"What did you do?" Edward roared. He was suddenly in my face and he was seething, his jaw clenched and eyes wide as he shoved me. Hard. I stumbled down the front steps as he continued to berate me. "She won't talk to anyone, not even her mother, and I can smell you all over her."

I had to hold back my instincts, but I could feel myself beginning to shake and the growl that I let out couldn't be helped. "She hugged me, in my house. Of course she smells like me."

Edward's nose flared and his pupils suddenly ceased to exist. I had said the wrong thing. "Your stench is coming out of her pores, you mutt," he bellowed.

I looked at him blankly for a moment, before it registered. He thought I'd deflowered his daughter. I held out my hands in surrender, mentally and verbally screaming my defense.

"it's not like that. Really, Renesmee just-" I hit a mental wall. I couldn't speak her secret, but maybe I could give him a hint.

He stalked closer, but gave me a moment to talk him through the scene mentally. Unfortunately, the only thing I could remember was the surge of serotonin when she'd pushed me down on my bed, and the feeling of her hands, her mouth-

Edward's whole body tensed. If the man had a functioning heart, it would have exploded. He blurred into a crouching position.

Tossing the chocolates aside, I back flipped myself away from him and skidded into my own defensive position.

"I know what it seems like, but, it's not like that." I tried to play back the whole incident in my mind, but like a skipping DVD, it seemed to stop at the same spot. I couldn't break my promise to Renesmee. Making a promise to your imprint was similar to an Alpha command: it's nearly impossible to break. Instead, all Edward got was a constant replay of me groaning as I wrapped my arms around his daughter, her face buried in my neck. "Honestly, it's really not what you think."

"That's what I'll say when I feed your kibbles and bits to your pack." He lunged for me and I made the only exit I could, running up the nearest tree and bounding off the trunk to its left. I couldn't fight my nature anymore. I let the energy flow through me and I felt myself phase. I landed with a snarl. "You couldn't wait to get your paws on her."

I don't want to fight you, Edward. Just let me speak with Renesmee and she'll explain.

"Too late."

The door opened then, and I was suddenly aware that we had an audience.

"Did Jakey chew your favorite pair of shoes?"

Both Edward and I growled at Emmett. He just laughed.

"Take him out," Rose hissed.

I let the distraction get the best of me. Edward disappeared in a white blur. I whipped around, trying to catch his scent only to feel him zip by again.

"Jacob!"

I looked up to see Renesmee hanging out her bedroom window. She was beautiful despite her puffy eyes and red nose. I wanted nothing more than to be with her, so I could apologize for being stupid. For not thinking before-.

"Dad, no!" she screeched, and I was suddenly aware of Edward's close proximity. I took off for the woods, but he caught my left leg with both hands. He whipped me back towards the house and I heard the snap of my bone before I felt the searing pain.

By the time I landed on the ground, I was human again and Ness was running towards us.

"Edward, no! What is wrong with you?"

Despite Bella's reproach, Edward still had me pinned to the ground by a hand to my chest, as if I was going anywhere.

"He took advantage of our daughter," he gritted, adding a little more pressure.

"What are you talking about? He didn't," Ness groaned, equally frustrated with her father. There was a moment of silence, and then Edward's grip slowly let up. His shoulders dropped and he leaned back on his knees, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"What is it? What did you tell him?" Bella looked between her husband and her daughter, but received no answer. Ness was still staring daggers at Edward.

Alice and Jasper chose this time to reappear out of nowhere.

"I'm so sorry, Renesmee. I didn't realize it would be this bad. Jake is just so impossible to see," she grumbled.

"Can you not insult the injured?" I gritted.

"He is some kinda' hurt, sweetheart," Jasper informed, pulling Alice a little tighter to his frame in case I wasn't done fighting. No worries there.

"He deserves it after what he put my baby through."

Even Ness had to smirk at the wounded turn in Rose's voice. Rose has a flair for the dramatic. I half expected her to pull out a church fan and start speaking in a southern accent.

Emmett took a moment from consoling his poor wife to call out to me. "You almost had Eddie at one point. I'm impressed."

"Oh, good. That was the plan," I gritted. I pushed myself into a sitting position. I jerked my arm away at first, but Edward persisted, and he lifted me slightly.

"Are either of you going to tell me what just happened?" Bella stared us down, but we remained tight lipped. I had an excuse though. Every step I took sent a jolt of pain through me. "Renesmee?"

"Can you make it to the house this way?" Edward grumbled.

"I don't need you to carry me." Getting carried by a vamp was pretty much the only thing that could make this day worse.

"Esme, where is Carlisle?"

"He's getting some supplies from the stockpile. Edward Anthony, what were you thinking?" Esme knew how to show her disappointment just like any other mom. It was kinda amusing to see Edward cringe. Probably would have been funnier if my leg hadn't been healing into an unnatural, uncomfortable rendition of itself, for the second time.

The doctor came walking through the hallways, more concerned with Edward's feelings than my condition. "Edward, we knew this would happen eventually. I tried to prepare you, but she's a young woman, now."

"I didn't sleep with him," Ness nearly shrieked, completely exasperated by the sound of it. She grabbed my hand and kissed the back of it. "I'm so sorry, Jake. This is all my fault. I should have said something sooner and I shouldn't have made you promise not to tell."

"No, I'm the one that should be apologizing. That's why I came in the first place."

Rosalie was nowhere to be seen, but her whiny voice was presence enough. "Sweaty, naked werewolf off the couch. I have to sit there, too."

And that's when I remembered, I was indeed naked. In fact, I was now sprawled on her couch…butt ass naked…with a large chunk of her family circled around me. Where was everyone when her father was trying to rip me limb from limb?

I should have been embarrassed, but the alpha in me knew that I had nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, I couldn't help but wonder if Ness had noticed.

"Renesmee, grab Jake a robe, please." She wavered for a moment and Edward groaned. "Now, Renesmee."

Yeah, she noticed.

"How would you rate your pain level," Carlisle asked once he'd gotten some supplies together.

"Probably a 3. It's more uncomfortable than anything, and kind of itchy."

"That means the bones are healing."

"Does this hurt?" Edward practically crushed my leg and I let out an involuntary blue streak that should have been heard for miles. "Just checking," he muttered.

"What's wrong?" Ness was back.

Edward grabbed the robe and threw it over me haphazardly. "Jacob's fibula is healing too quickly. We'll have to correct it."

I let out a groaned, but nodded. What else could I say?

"You're gonna break it again? Once wasn't enough?" I could hear Ness's high-pitched screeching over my own groans as he began.

"It's not that bad, sweetheart." Oh, Bella, always so optimistic. "Your father has to reset the bones, so it heals properly. It's the only way to take care of it."

Ness leaned over the couch arm and kissed my forehead.

Edward and Carlisle continued their work and fitted me with a makeshift cast to wear for a few hours. I didn't even notice. I was too busy staring into the most beautiful pair of chocolate eyes.

Ok, corny ending, but I figured I had to give the guy some kind of break. thanks for all your kind words, and for reading this in the first place. It makes all the hair pulling and constant rewrites worth it.
