I have been eating these cookies Lucyole left me in a review for the last year, trying to push out another chapter. So I know this is short but I hope it's the crack in the flood gates of writer's block.

Chapter 10: Feeling the Heat

The bond must have been giving them power, just enough for a fighting chance to fix things, because as soon as they finished, they collapsed and didn't wake until well into evening the next day.

Hermione was expecting to wake to the peaceful calm that usually accompanied sleeping next to Fenrir. She can't say that she was disappointed though when she woke instead to an intense burning desire as Fenrir's mouth worked magic between her legs.

"Are you being thorough for the bond?" Hermione joked, ending on a moan.

"The bond has set off your first heat. I have heard how powerful the scent of a mate in heat is, but I never believed. Merlin, you are perfect." Was all he could manage to say before returning to his task.

They were distracted for the next two days, stopping only to eat and when they passed out from exhaustion.

The third morning after the bond was created, Hermione woke before Fenrir. Peace filled her mind and body, which was a nice relief compared to the burning hot desire that she had the last few days.

She had so many questions, but she would think about that when Fenrir woke. Instead she sat in bed, jotting down ideas for improvements to the camp.

It was another hour before Fenrir began to stir beside her.

"What are you doing, love?" the sleep still very clearly in his voice.

"I think I've found a way to bring Elizabeth and the others into the pack." Hermione replied distractedly.

"I'm listening," Fenrir replied as he cuddled into her side and shut his eyes again.

"I would like to start with a bath house and some water catching troughs to be built within the camp. I believe we should also start a large community garden and to dig a cellar that has a generator to run freezers. I know it's a lot to change but I feel like it would increase the quality of life here as well. I think that the best seamstresses should be teaching all those that are willing to learn how to make different fur clothing and blankets to sell. The extra income can let us start breeding animals instead of relying onβ€”" She was cut off as his lips claimed hers. She had been so focused on her ideas that she hadn't even felt him lean up. What started off as an urgent claiming soon died down to an almost loving caress.

"Thank you," he said as he pulled back, resting his forehead against hers.

"For what?"

"Being you," he answered before pulling away from her and getting out of bed. "Those sound like wonderful ideas. I'll bring Derek, Naomi, and a few of the skilled workers by tonight to talk about your ideas. For now, I have to go check on the pack. I've neglected them for too long."

Hermione watched him dress and start across the room before she had the courage to bring up the one topic that was most on her mind, "Fenrir?"

"Yes, love?" He answered distractedly.

"You said I was in heat. Does that mean- I don't know what- I'm scared that- Damn it. Does that mean what I think it does? Is there a chance that I'm pregnant?"

He had started walking back towards her at the beginning of her frustrated babbling. He cupped her face with his large hands, leaning down to sweetly kiss her lips.

"Usually that's what a heat would mean, yes. I've never seen one happen to a woman who hasn't been fully changed. It could be that we mistook part of the bond for heat. I'm sorry, mate, I don't have all the answers."

"Would the healer know?" Hermione pushed.

"No, but I have been putting off a trip to the Elders. I can leave tomorrow and try to come back with answers, if you would like."

Hermione smiled softly at the idea. "Yes, please. Thank you, Fenrir."
