"Confusion Ship/We Have A Fan Club"
At an outpost in the center of a field, was a small base for scientific study. A small yellow tent, tables lined with a multitude of computers, and a large drill which was whirring further and further into the ground.
The one thing off, soon to be noticed, was that there were no scientist in sight.
Police cars from the nearby city were parked, as two officers were lining the area with yellow tape.
"Call themselves researchers, and they don't even bother turning off their eqiupment? What kind of people do that? This drill is gonna total the land!"
"I know. Their permission must have expired or something."
"Hey, shut that drill off, will you?"
"Why me? Rock, paper, scissors for it?"
"Just do it, you moron!"
"Alright-!"
The two stopped.
The drill had suddenly shut down. But how?
There came a rumble from underneath the ground, and suddenly, the tables, one by one, began to be swallowed whole by the Earth, then the drill, and even the police cars.
"Let's get out of here!"
"Don't need to tell me twice!"
Cobalt and Mauve were packing up camp they had set up by the riverbed. Chūsei was just out and running around like always. Mauve had Whiskers out on her shoulder, with Buddy hopping around.
"So where's the next town from here?" Mauve asked.
"I don't know, I gave you the Map, remember?"
Mauve checked her pockets and fished out the Map from her left front pocket, looking embarrassed.
"Let's see...the nearest town is...eenie, meenie, minie...MO!" She said slamming her index finger on the Map.
"Okay, where did you choose for us to go? Despite the fact that it would be easier if we went to the nearest town."
"Jemusutōn Town! Don't you think it sounds pretty?"
"If you think I'm going to buy you diamonds, you're as crazy as Imog-you know what, even you can't be that crazy."
"I'm not going to get diamonds, Cobalt, don't get your panties in a bunch. See look,"
Mauve layed the Map down on a flat rock top as the two examined it,
"It says it has good food, a Pokémon Center, jewlery stores..."
"No. I don't have that kind of money, and people would think we were in a relationship."
Mauve hung her head down for a minute before resuming,
"They already do. And besides, they even have a port for us to get to the next island! Which means we can go to the next Gym!"
"Okay, okay. We'll go."
"Alright, guys let's go!" Mauve said as she returned Whiskers. She looked over to see Buddy was trying to get a Berry from a nearby tree.
"Aw, here you go honey."
Buddy chirped happily as she dug into the Rawst Berry.
Mauve smiled at this. She then saw a bush which had been blooming with brilliant purple flowers.
"Hey Cobalt, are there any poisonous plants around here?"
"Shouldn't be. Why?"
"I want to give this one to Buddy! It'd make her look so cute!"
"Sure, why not? We have Antidotes anyway just in case."
Mauve plucked one of the larger flowers from the bush, and smelled it; the flower had a pleasant scent that she had never come across.
"Here, Buddy, I think you'll like this!"
Mauve didn't know where else to put it, so she stuck it on top of Buddy's form.
Buddy chirped once more before she suddenly stopped.
"Buddy? What's wrong?"
Buddy began to glow.
"COBALT!"
Cobalt came running back from getting the bike,
"What-whoa."
Buddy was then consumed in a blinding white flash, until it suddenly dissipated.
Buddy was no longer a Budew.
"Wh-what happened to Buddy?!" Mauve asked.
"Mauve...that is Buddy."
Mauve took a long look at her new Roselia, and then she did something totally unexpected: she started crying.
"Mauve, what are you doing?"
"W-w-what does it look like?! I'm upset!"
"Why? You should be overjoyed!"
"Why should I be?! B-Buddy's gone!"
"Yeah, because she evolved Mauve! Pokémon do that! You do know that, right?"
Mauve looked at Cobalt with an unchanging expression.
He finally caught on,
"Oh my Arceus." Cobalt said as he started to pace in frustration, "You mean to tell me, that up until this time of your life, you didn't know ANYTHING about evolution?!"
"No...!"
She cupped her hands around her face and sobbed again,
"What did I do wrong? I'm a terrible Trainer!"
"Okay, wow. You need some serious help with this kind of thing." Cobalt muttered under earshot before resuming his conversation, "Look, Mauve, this is a good thing! Look how happy Buddy is!"
Mauve looked up to see Buddy come up to her Trainer and wrap her little arms around. Mauve returned the favor.
"See! And she even kept that purple flower you gave-! Holy shit."
"What?" Mauve said brushing the rest of the tears from her eyes, before she saw.
Buddy didn't have a blue flower for a hand. Instead, the budding plant that she had been given had somehow morphed into a new, purple flower.
"Well this is interesting." Cobalt said.
"Hey kids, you wanna buy some diamond rocks?" A shady character in a black trench coat asked.
"We're not interested in what you're selling. Shove off." Cobalt told the man.
He slithered off elsewhere after that. The two went further into town until they reached the Pokémon Center.
After healing their Pokémon, the two went to check in a pair of rooms, only to find that there was only one room left available.
They reluctantly took it anyway, but not until Nurse Joy told them that if they were to partake in any sort of "activities", then they should remain to a near silent level. Naturally the two were horrified, as Cobalt took the room key without any more talk of..."that".
The room was spacious, which was nice if you looked at it that way. There, thankfully, were two beds. Cobalt took the right one and Mauve took the left, closest to the door. The room also had a desk made of a nice wooden finish complete with a complementary laptop/video phone.
Mauve fell onto the bed, and brought out Whiskers and Buddy to play with as Cobalt went to the desk and began writing again in his journal as Chūsei began playfully nibbling his shoes,
"DAY FIFTEEN: April 10th, 2014 11:32 A.M.
Mauve, and I have just arrived in Jemusutōn Town on our way to the island of Senshi, said to be the home of powerful Fighting-type Pokémon. Things have gotten a little hectic on our journey, such as Buddy's sudden evolution into a Roselia, which explains why I haven't been writing as much as I should, but I will soon be getting back on track, and will have much to tell. Until then."
"How's the journal coming?" Mauve asked, peeking over Cobalt's shoulder.
"Pretty good so far, I think."
Mauve went back to laying on the bed on her front side, swishing her feet back and forth in boredom,
"So what are we gonna do today?"
"Probably look around the town, train. The usual."
"Ugh, can't we do something different? I feel like we're in a rut; we're doing the same thing over and over again."
"Did you have something different in mind?"
"You know what I'm thinking..."
"No."
"SHOPPING!"
Cobalt was forced to act as Mauve's pack Ponyta; sinking into the ground from holding a mountain of shopping bags.
"When the Hell did you get the money to buy all of this shit?!"
"Hey! I needed new outfits! I fell like I've been wearing this same outfit for weeks!"
"A Trainer can only carry so much in their bag. We're putting this back."
"No."
"Mauve!"
"I don't want to! At least let me get one!"
"Fine!"
Mauve went back to the dressing room as Cobalt dropped the bags onto the floor. After five minutes or so, Mauve came back out, and even Cobalt would admit she looked different.
She wore a green tank top that started to poof at the end, and a new pair of capris that were slightly brighter than the original pair.
"What do you think?" she asked.
"Uh...yeah, pretty good!" Cobalt said, giving her a thumbs up.
"And look, they came with new shoes too!" Mauve said kicking up her left foot, and revealing the yellow shoes on her feet.
Cobalt went and facepalmed,
"Great, more money to waste."
Just then, the ground began to violently shake. The electricity fluctuated; shelves began toppling like dominoes. Cobalt tackled Mauve into the dressing room just as one of the shelves were about collapse on them.
The dust began to clear. People were screaming, some probably in pain. Cobalt used all of his strength to push the wreckage out of his way,
"Come on, we have to get out of here."
He grabbed Mauve's hand and ran with her out of the Boutique.
"But I still have to pay for this!"
"No time! The place is-"
Mauve began smelling the air; gas,
"We have to warn everyone!"
They went around the Mall, warning that there was a potentially dangerous gas leak. Luckily everyone got out.
"Is everyone out?" Cobalt asked.
"Wait! Sparky! He's still in there!"
"I'll get him!" Cobalt said, dashing back in to find whatever missing Pokémon was left in the mall.
He then heard a sound, one that came from a Pokémon familiar to him. He slowly looked over in terror as a small Charmander was waddling to one of the walls. His tail was beginning to emit sparks, illuminating the air.
"No!"
Cobalt ran faster than he had before, grabbed Sparky, and bolted out of the Mall, until,
*BOOM!*
The entire building went up in a large, fiery explosion. The crowds of people were terrified. Mauve fell to her knees.
Cobalt...
Just then a large piece of rubble began to move, until Cobalt, still blackened, held Sparky in his arms as he made his way back to the crowd.
"Is this yours?" he asked the little boy who lost his Charmander.
"You saved Sparky! Thank you!"
Cobalt only grinned as the two ran into the van of the boys mother.
Cobalt turned back to Mauve, who was still partially stunned. She then slapped him again,
"OW!"
"COBALT DONT YOU EVER DO THAT AGAIN! I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD!" She screamed as tears rolled down her eyes.
"It's not like I had much of an option, and hey I'm alive, aren't I?"
Cobalt held Mauve close to him to comfort her.
That was when the real trouble began.
"Hey, is that-Oh my Arceus, it is you! Guys, it's Cobalt and Mauve!"
The two were then surrounded with people flashing cameras at them.
"What the Hell?!"
One of them stepped out. He was a tall, skinny, black-haired teenager wearing a white T-shirt with a red and grey Pokéball logo on the shirt, thick, black glasses, black jeans, and blue Running Shoes.
"Sorry if we startled you! I'm Benny, President of the ConfusionShip Fan Club!"
"The what?" Cobalt asked, with a bit of sourness in his tone. He didn't like where this was going.
"'Confusion Ship'? Oh no, don't tell me-" Mauve started.
"ConfusionShip! It's your own ship name! We figured since you two are clearly confused about your apparent feelings for each other, it was a match! Imogene started it up after you two left! She appointed me, as President, and a couple of my friends to-"
"Okay, just stop there, Benny. Mauve and I do not want or need a Fan Club. Just tell Imogene to lay off, will you? I've had enough of that little girl's craziness for one lifetime."
"SHE'S NOT A LITTLE GIRL!" The group all cried out at once, which was a little weird.
"She told us to do that if you called her 'that'."
"Of course she did." Cobalt said rubbing his temples, "Look, Benny, you got your shots, now just go and report back to her or whatever, Mauve and I are kind of tired after going through what just happened."
Benny facepalmed,
"How could I be so stupid! I knew today was going to be too soon! Aright guys, let's get out of here, these two need their space!"
Just like that, they left all in a matter of seconds.
"Damn, they're quick." Mauve said, "Let's just go back to the Pokémon Center."
Cobalt just stood there, looking down at the ground as Mauve began to walk away until she noticed that he was not with her,
"Aren't you coming?"
Cobalt looked back up at her,
"I am, I just..."
He looked back to the ground,
"That was no ordinary earthquake. I realize that Hikari's known for having them because they're above an active fault line, but that one just didnt' feel right. It was like it was literally coming right under us."
"You think so?"
"Yeah." Cobalt said, starting to walk with Mauve.
"How can you tell?" She asked.
"I don't know, I just...it's likeI can feel it or something."
Under the ground, masses can be seen moving in opposite directions. This goes on for miles. What are these creatures? And why are they wrecking havoc on the town?
