A/N: I know I'm late again. My favourite character from Star Wars is dead so I'm grieving. Sorry!
Guest: Oh no, it actually is Jun Hui. That's what it says on wiki and the filter itself. The 'Hui' bit anyway. Besides, Hui and Hee sound exactly the same so I can see why you got confused. And thanks!
Princessa & Charity: Thanks.
SPRING
Jan Di rolled her eyes as all of the other students in the crowd literally parted to make way for her. Well, actually, they were trying to get away from her rather than being considerate. They eyed her like she was some disease which irritated her. All she wanted was to get some food. And then came the comments.
"Whore!"
"Slut!"
"Golddigger!"
She looked down and bore the pain. The canteen and cafeteria were only a few steps away. She could do this. All of a sudden, a familiar voice jarred her from her thoughts.
"Hey! Leave her alone, why don't you?!"
Jan Di looked up to see Jae Kyung standing in front of her, glowering at the sea of snobbish, insensitive students around her. They just stared at her, wondering how to start an argument with her. After all, Jae Kyung was the F4's closest female friend. Jun Pyo was especially protective of her and it was no secret that President Kang wanted Jae Kyung as her daughter-in-law.
"Well, she is pregnant out of wedlock!" one of the students stated.
"And what's your point?" Jae Kyung demanded, her hands on her hips.
"Only a whore gets pregnant when she's still in school," another spoke. Jae Kyung rolled her eyes and sighed.
"Well, I guess that makes me a whore too," she said. The corridor fell silent and Jan Di gasped.
"You don't have to do this, Unnie," she told her. The older girl merely shook her head.
"Nope, let them know the truth." Jae Kyung turned away from her friend, addressing the crowd when she spoke. "Here's something for you guys. At the beginning of my second year here, I found out that I was pregnant. The father of the child abandoned me and I decided to have an abortion. Does that make me a whore? A slut? A golddigger?"
The other students gaped at Jae Kyung, rendered speechless by the revelation.
"Unnie..." Jan Di shook her in shock.
"I thought not," Jae Kyung conceded, giving one last dirty look to the others. "Come on, Jan Di." She stomped through opening proudly, her pregnant friend silently following.
"I cannot believe you just did that!" Jan Di exclaimed. Jae Kyung shrugged, getting a sandwich.
"Whatever. Honestly, I just wanted everyone to know that a pregnant teen does not equal a slut, whore or a golddigger. Hell, I'm an heiress, why on Earth would I get pregnant by a rich guy for money?" She laughed, despite herself and Jan Di only nodded slowly. "Anyway, God, you're getting huge. How many months has it been now?"
"Almost eight," Jan Di replied, picking an apple up. "You wouldn't believe how weird I look naked."
"I wish my boobs would grow... I never made it far enough," Jae Kyung said, adding the last bit quietly.
"Trust me, you don't," Jan Di quickly interjected. "I actually have to wear a bra now. And I have to rub this nasty cocoa butter stuff all over myself or my skin could get stretched too far and explode."
"Eugh!"
Jan Di and Jae Kyung were sitting at the cafeteria, eating their lunch, when Jan Di noticed that the other kids in the cafeteria couldn't help but glance her way. Some looked derisive while others were amused. The pregnant girl suspected that if it weren't for Jae Kyung, the other kids would constantly be berating her.
"God, why is everyone always staring at me?" Jan Di complained.
"Well, you are kind of..." Jae Kyung trailed off, finishing her sentence by making a rounded gesture near her stomach.
"Thanks for pointing that out," Jan Di responded flatly. "What I meant was that it's already been quite a while since I started showing. I know I'm bigger now but it's not exactly new!"
Jae Kyung shrugged. "Did you hear Ji Hoo is going to prom with Seo Hyun Unnie?" Jan Di stopped eating and put her half eaten apple back on the tray. Her head suddenly snapped in her friend's direction.
"Seo Hyun Unnie?" she repeated, an amused expression on her face. "Pfft, no. Just no. He doesn't like her. She must've asked him."
"He asked her," Jae Kyung corrected, sipping some of her cola. "He told me that they're going out to eat dinner first, then the prom, then to W- I mean some bar."
"And he told me that he doesn't like her like that!" Jan Di exclaimed, her face growing hot with anger. She had no idea why.
"He might not. But you know guys, they'll have sex with anyone," Jae Kyung stated bluntly.
"S-sex?" Jan Di spluttered as if the word was a curse. "There's no way they're having sex or even holding hands!"
"I wouldn't be so sure about that. He did it with you," Jae Kyung pointed out. "He's a man now."
"Yeah, well, Ji Hoo trusts me. We're like really close friends," Jan Di reasoned, nonchalantly eating some jelly. She'd given up on the apple; for some reason, it made her feel sick. "Like you and Woo Bin Sunbae!" Jae Kyung looked taken aback but Jan Di didn't seem to notice what she'd just blurted out.
"Are you jealous?" the nineteen year old asked, narrowing her eyes. She realised that she was acting a little petty but she couldn't help it. The Woo Bin comment stung, whether Jan Di meant it or not. "I thought you said you didn't care what he did."
"I'm not jealous, and I don't care." Jan Di stopped eating once again, slowly putting the jelly down on the tray, her gaze never leaving Jae Kyung's. "I just know he doesn't like Seo Hyun Unnie and I don't think he should toy with her emotions like that. She seems so nice and all." She then casually started sipping some cola, to prove that she didn't care.
"Okay Jan Di, I'm really convinced," Jae Kyung said sarcastically, eating a chip.
"Prom is so overrated anyway," Jan Di spat. Jae Kyung decided it was time to stop, seeing how agitated Jan Di was getting, so she just threw her arms up in defeat.
Ji Hoo stood in front of his locker, retrieving a book from it. Jan Di marched up to him, her belly leading the way. He looked at her, feeling a little nervous when he saw the barely concealed anger on her face.
"Are you honestly and truly going to prom with Seo Hyun Unnie?"
"Um, hi?" Ji Hoo responded dumbly, silently cursing himself. What was that for? Why couldn't he just say yes?
"Jae Kyung Unnie just told me you were going with her," Jan Di continued, before he could open his mouth. He licked his lips.
"Yeah, I did ask her if she wanted to go. Us guys and our dates are going to eat out first, then go to the prom and then Woo Bin's bar," Ji Hoo explained, looking forward to it. His friendship with Jun Pyo was currently on the mend and it would be good for all four of them to get together again. It'd been a while... He looked at Jan Di again and noted that she was clearly affronted. Scratching his head, he meekly finished with, "We're going in my limo."
"Those maids of yours must be really glad you're not taking me," Jan Di commented bitterly, remembering the infuriating glares and dirty looks that the staff were constantly throwing her every time she walked into Ji Hoo's mansion.
"You're mad. Why are you mad?" Ji Hoo questioned.
"I'm not mad," Jan Di protested, realising for the first time that that was a lie. Her voice started trembling as she kept on speaking. "I'm in a great mood, I mean, despite the fact that I'm trapped in a fat suit that I can't take off, despite the fact that pretty much all the stuck up kids here are making fun of me behind my back and despite the fact that your girlfriend's fans give me the stink eye all the time-"
"Seo Hyun Noona is not my girlfriend!" Ji Hoo interrupted, his voice shaky.
"Whatever. Take Miss Supermodel to prom. I'm sure I can think of something way more cool to do that night. Like I could pumice my feet, or go to my mum's dumb committee, or get hit by a ten-ton truck full of hot garbage juice because all of those things would be way cooler than going to the prom with you!" Jan Di shouted, her chest heaving as she struggled to control her breathing. Ji Hoo merely stared at her, taking a deep breath.
"You're being really immature," he pointed out. Jan Di shook her head in shock, unable to believe his words. She was too angry to think straight and he was just making her feel humiliated.
"That's not how our rel- friendship works! I hurl the accusations and you calm me down, remember?"
"Not this time," Ji Hoo told her firmly, pursing his lips. Jan Di just stared at him, her eyes watering up. "You don't have any reason to be mad at me. You broke my heart. I should be really mad at you. I shouldn't want to talk to you anymore."
"Why? Because I got bored and had sex with you one day, and then I didn't, like, marry you?" Jan Di shot at him, the anger dissipating from her voice bit by bit.
"Like I'd marry you! You would be the meanest wife ever. And anyway, I know you weren't bored that day because there was a lot of stuff on TV. That Star Wars movie was on, and you were like, 'Oh, I've always wanted to watch this since it came out but I never got the chance. We should watch it.' And then you suddenly changed your mind and said, 'Oh we should just make out instead. La la la.'"
"Forget it, Sunbae. Take Seo Hyun Unnie to the prom. I'm sure you guys will have a great time!" she retorted, having nothing else to say. Deep down, she knew he was right about everything but she just didn't want to admit it. "I wish you could give me my virginity back!"
"Would you shut up?!" Ji Hoo snapped, looking around in panic. It was now a secret out in the open that he was the father of Jan Di's child but no one actually said it out loud, in the middle of the corridors.
"What? Are you ashamed that we did it?" Jan Di taunted. Ji Hoo was startled by the question but quickly recovered.
"No," he admitted quietly.
"Well at least you don't have to walk around with the evidence under your sweater. I'm a planet!"
Ji Hoo looked down in shame, feeling sorry for her. He got to get away with what he'd done but she didn't. She had people whispering about her 24/7, sticking their noses into her business while all he got was a handful of disapproving comments. He watched as Jan Di dejectedly picked up her backpack and slid it over her shoulder.
"Wait, let me take that," he requested softly, startling her.
"Huh?" she asked dumbly.
"You shouldn't be carrying that heavy bag. I'll take it," he offered. If she wasn't so angry at him, she would've secretly been thinking about how sweet he was with her, even when she was being a bitch to him. But she was angry and so she refused.
"Oh. It's fine. What's another ten pounds?" Ji Hoo sighed and stepped back, letting her walk away. As he watched her retreating figure, Jan Di wiped tears off her cheeks and continued down the hallway, making sure no one knew.
A/N: WDYT?
