New Chapter! Before wondering, I was listening to very beautiful and emotional orchestral music while writing and that had quite the influence on it I guess... Hope you enjoy :-)

"Okay, so we're both worried about another", Tony decided.
"If you say so."
He nodded, "I do say so."
It felt great talking to her like that. For years he thought that he would never talk to her again, especially not having one of their typically great conversations he loved so much. Just the fact that she was alive kept him smiling and happy. He didn't know exactly what happened back when she pretended to be killed, and even though she said it was rather unrealistic for everything to return back to normal, he would try and not give up. How did she think would it be possible for him to keep on living as always, now that he knew that she was not dead at all.
"I'm glad I was chosen as the agent to come along," he admitted.
"Really?"
"Of course! After all I got to find out that you're still alive. That's the best thing that could possibly happen. I mean... you're not dead, but alright. That's a good thing to know."
A small smile appeared on Kate's face, "Yeah, I'm... I'm glad too."
"You did it for the country, didn't you?"
"Did what for the country?"
"The whole dying thing."
She nodded slowly, "I definitely didn't do it because I felt like starting my life all over."
"I can't imagine what you've been going through, but... it's definitely brave of you."
"I didn't have much of a choice."
"Everything's a choice, Kate."
"You might always be able to decide between options, however, sometimes only one option is the right and good one, even if you wish you wouldn't have to take it," she explained.
Tony looked out of the window, releasing a sigh from his lungs. He didn't fully know of what happened or rather how Kate was involved in everything. Neither did he know how to help her. He didn't need to though. All he needed to know was that she was alive and as long as she was, there was a chance of him helping her to get her real life back, the life she wanted. Because Tony knew that no matter what she said, she somehow missed it. And even if that was not the case, he would help her just to get back the freedom that had been taken away from her when she was willing to fake her death in order to protect the country.
"How is everyone doing?" She asked quietly, looking out of the window.
Tony looked back at her. Though she didn't return his look, he knew that she was hurt and missing everyone. "Good", he finally answered, "You've missed a lot. You've been missing all those years."
She cracked a small smile, still looking out of the window, "There was something missing in my life all along too. I've learned to live with it."
"Accepting things so easily... that's not like you, Kate."
"We all have to accept things we don't want to once in a while", she replied, looking him straight in the eyes.
"You're not alone, you know."
"Right. The entire Secret Service is with me on this case and I'm basically like every other agent. We're working as a team. Of course I'm not alone."
"You can't compare yourself with the rest, Kate. None of them have changed their identity as far as I'm concerned", Tony stated, trying to get to Kate and showing her that she could trust him and let him help her.
She sighed in frustration, "That doesn't matter, Tony. Things turned out the way the did. You've accepted it too, so don't act like I didn't."
"I never imagined that you would still be alive. I stood right next to you and saw when you... when it happened", images of the day that changed both their lives appeared in his head.
"Sorry. I know it's not so easy to understand and accept when you're not aware of what really happened. Remember when we were in Paraguay after a pair of blue eyes were accidentally sent to some woman? You gave my agency phone away and I didn't want to because I didn't know you actually had a plan", a quick giggle escaped her mouth, "I thought it was just you being silly as always."
He looked at her carefully and silently, not knowing where the conversation was going.
She looked back at him with seriousness in her eyes again, "But you actually had a plan. And a good one I have to admit. Later that day we sat outside and you told me that we are a team and that in a team everyone had to trust each other, even when the others didn't know where something was going. Now I'm asking the same of you, Tony. We're a team now. And it's surprisingly nice of you to care so much, but as for now I just need you to trust me, okay? I've been okay all these years. I've been a Secret Service agent from the very beginning and just had a short experience with the NCIS. It's not as bad as you think. I'm protecting the country, which is a nice thing. I decided to devote myself for this country when I took the job in the first place and I don't exactly regret it. I know that I had to make sacrifices I wish I hadn't had to, but the world isn't about me. And I can't exactly live in a world that is in a war. Choosing between the simple life, ending up as just another ordinary victim in a huge, possible next world war, and a life as someone who can have a say in all of this and just a slight chance of stopping this world from turning into a complete mess, I'd go with the latter without another thought."
Tony looked at her without saying something for what felt like eternity. His emotions were a big mess after hearing those words. He was shocked, amazed and impressed at the same time. That was indeed the Kate he had met a few years ago. Full of energy and ambition. And he suddenly remembered all the reasons why he had grown to like her so much. She was a great person without any doubt, someone in the background who suffered the most and yet accomplished a rather small part though she did the most. It especially impressed him that she was so sure of herself and that she was in fact happy. He thought she wasn't happy and that she wanted her old life back. But she seemed satisfied, even though that wasn't exactly what he had hoped for. Of course it was a good thing that she wasn't a wreck, however, this seemed to him as if she didn't plan on ever returning to NCIS.

He came to a realization. She did not lie when she stated that she did accept her fate. All this time he was the one who didn't accept the harsh truth. He never moved on from her death, and now that he found out that she was in fact not dead, he wanted for her to be dissatisfied so she, in the end, return to NCIS. He had missed their time together.
"Tony...", her soft voice calmed his mind and bringing him back to reality.
As he looked up, he starred into the pair of hazel eyes he always found so pretty, "We're not just a team now. We've been a team all the time and we'll stay a team for as long as you want to, Katie", he smiled confidently.
She smiled back at him, glad that he was doing okay with what she said. She knew that she said quite the things, but it was the truth after all.
"I'm sorry. I do trust you, it's just kind of hard for me."
She nodded in acceptance, "I know."
"I'm glad we talked about it. But just because I trust you doesn't mean I won't stop from helping you."
A big thankful smile appeared on her face. Her face turned of that of a little girl, getting all the presents she wanted for Christmas. His heart beat faster of it and he felt how he, after all these years, finally really felt at ease again. It was as if he had never felt this kind of satisfaction before. Once again he was proved that she became a big part of his life and that she meant so much more to him than it seemed.
That was something he couldn't just let slip away. She made him happy. That was all he needed to know.

Hope you liked it :-)
