Nikki and Brie watched as ringside doctors stormed past them, "Oh on" Nikki quickly got up and Brie rushed, trying to keep up with her. The match had apparently ended already, looking back at the curtain they saw Kane walking through, Nikki and Brie felt their stomachs drop slightly, "Fuck" Nikki sighed, running a hand through her hair.
Dean finally came through the curtain, two doctors at his sides, "I'm fine. I already fucking told you that" he snarled
"Ambrose we need to fix your shoulder" One of the docs stated
"What happened?" Nikki and Brie got startled when Roman appeared behind them. He was obviously worried. "I think he hurt his shoulder" Nikki looked up at the Samoan. He grabbed the twins and tugged them to his sides so they were under his arms. "Hasn't this happened before?" Brie asked quietly. "Yeah his shoulder is really.. uh fragile. He thinks nothing of it, but he just wont admit how painful it gets"
Nikki grabbed his hand and he grabbed Brie's before they got dragged away by the Diva. They found the trainers room quite easily when they heard Dean practically screaming, they winced and stopped in their tracks. Nodding at each other, Roman knocked on the door. One of the trainers opened it and looked at them, mouthing a silent thank you to Roman and moved out of the way for them to enter. He gestured for the other doctors to leave. the room for a few minutes.
Dean noticed them and shut his mouth. He was covered in sweat and sitting on the bed holding his arm, "Why the fuck won't they just pop it back into place?" he managed to grit through his teeth.
"Because they have to make sure nothing else is wrong with it Ambrose"
"Dean stood up, "There's nothing else wrong with it, it just popped out Reigns" he got in Romans face
"Stop being a stubborn asshole"
He wasn't backing down.. until he felt a pair of hands wrap around his waist. He looked down to see Brie holding him, Nikki was holding Dean back. They needed to calm down, and he knew that. Roman sighed, "I just need you to be careful. You need to let them check you out."
Dean scoffed, "I can pop it in myself.. then i'll be fine"
Truth is this happened all the time, Dean never lets anyone help him. Seth and Roman constantly worry about his shoulder. "No Dean, you need to let them check it out" they all heard Nikki say. She was still wrapped around him.
"Whatever, but Roman you should call Seth and Paige" Roman nodded and pulled out his phone. He dialed Paige's number and she answered quickly. "Hey Romie! Whats up?" she sounded happy.. shit.
He grabbed Brie's hand and pulled her out of the room with him. "Hey Angel, uh is Seth with you?"
"Yeeah he is, is everything okay?" now she definitely didn't sound as chipper.
He put it on speaker, and so did she. "Don't freak out okay?" Roman tried to stall.
"Ro what happened?" they heard Seth ask as calmly as possible.
"Dean's shoulder got kinda messed up tonight. And apparently he hit his head pretty hard"
"WHAT" They both yelled into the phone. "is he okay? Where is he?" Paige asked, talking so fast they didn't even understand what she was saying. Brie grabbed the phone out of Roman's hand, "Paige? Paige calm down, love" they could hear Seth trying to shush her in the background
"But to answer your questions, yeah he's fine. He's in the trainers room with Nicole, he's being a major grump.. we can tell he's in more pain then he's letting on though" Brie replied, looking at Roman.
"Well get the docs to look at him, pop his shoulder back in then let us know" Seth sighed.
"Will do! We better go check on him, i'll call you later" they hung up and Roman rubbed at his temples. They shared a silent conversation, and Brie opened the door. Nikki was sitting on the bed, holding a ice pack to his shoulder"
"They're worried about you dude." Roman sat down on the sides of a chair. "Paige was freaking out. Oh and she told me to give you one of these" Brie walked over and gave Dean a gentle hug. He was kind of surprised, but hugged her back with no problem.
'I need to go get ready, my match is soon" Roman cleared his throat and stood up "Get the doctors in here Dean"giving his best friend a side hug and waving at the girls, he left the room.
"He's really worried.." Brie mumbled quietly.
"Well this always happens, he doesn't need to always be so worried" Dean groaned. Nikki squeezed his hand and jumped down from the bed. She stood between his legs "Will you allow me to get the doctors ? Will you allow them to check you out?" she forced him to look at her in the eyes. How could he say no to her?
"Ugh fine. Just tell them to hurry" Nikki smiled and gave his good side a hug. "Come on Brie. While you're doing that, do you want us to get you a water or something to eat?" she turned to Dean before opening the door. "Maybe a apple too, thank you!" She nodded and took Brie's hand.
"You have it so bad Nicole" Brie giggled. Nikki covered her face, "Shut up Brie, i see the way you look at Roman"
This time it was Brie's turn to blush. Honestly she couldn't even argue, they were both developing feelings for the men.. fast. The only questions though, were they able to open their hearts to them? How did Roman and Dean feel? The struggles were only just beginning.
Walking towards catering, they could hear Roman's theme starting, they really hoped he could focus on the match. Knowing he'd be worrying about Dean the whole time. "Okay i'll grab his apple. I kind of want some crackers anyway" Nikki glanced at the tables with food on them. Brie nodded, "I'll get us the water"
They got everything they needed and went to head back to go check on Dean. They got to the door, which was partially closed, hearing Dean talk. "shh" Nikki put her fingers to her lips.
Both girls feeling guilty for listening in on his conversation, "Shhh Paige. Baby girl, stop talking so fast i can't understand you. Yes i'm fine. Yes they popped my shoulder back in. I don't have a concussion. Don't cry." Nikki and Brie looked each other and smiled, finding Roman and Dean's relationship with Paige adorable.
"Nah Nikki and Brie went to go get food. Roman's wrestling right now. Oh my god you're so embarrassing" he laughed "Nah we're juts friends.. but yeah i enjoy her company. Brie is actually really awesome too. You should see how flustered Ro gets around her"
Nikki's and Brie's eyes went wide, both looking at the floor momentarily. "Okay we should get in there" Nikki whispered before knocking on the door. "Oh i gotta go, love you too" he said before hanging up. Hoping they didn't hear what he had said. They played it off as if they didn't.
Nikki smiled at him and gave him his apple and water, "Let me guess, Paige" she laughed
"Yeah she was freaking out" he shrugged and took a bite from his apple.
"So what did the docs say?" Nikki asked, looking at his now bandaged shoulder. "I just need to ice it and be gentle for a few days. Oh and i don't have a concussion or anything." the twins sighed a breath of relief.
"Okay well Roman's match should be done" he added, "Brie wanna go wait for him at the gorilla?"
Brie looked up at him with Bambi eyes "Uh sure, i'll be right back" she left the room and ran a hand through her hair and across her face. Getting there just in time, Roman was just walking through the curtain. He looked at her and smiled. "Dean sent me to get you, he's fine. They bandaged him up and he doesn't have a concussion or anything" she looked up at him
He raised his eyebrows at her, "Wow that stubborn jackass actually let the doctors look at him?" Brie grinned, "Nikki talked him into it" Roman snickered "Of course"
They laughed while walking back to the room, when they arrived Nikki was on the bed with him again helping him ice the shoulder. Roman winked at Brie, "Awweehh how cute" they said in unison.
Nikki threw her head back and laughed, Dean just rolled his eyes trying to hide the smirk he had on his lips.
A crew member had found them, and knocked on the door before walking in. He was holding a handful of papers. "Okay good, i'm glad i found you all. I just wanted to make sure you knew there's no show tomorrow night, instead there's an appearance at the children's hospital. That way you can still catch your flight for Monday" they all nodded as he gave them their papers. "Sounds great, see you tomorrow" he smiled and left the room.
"Awe that'll be fun, those kids are angels" Brie gushed.
"Okay you guys ready to go?" Roman asked, looking at everyone.
"Yep come on. We just have to finish packing our stuff. Meet us in our locker room?" Brie asked with raised brows.
"Sure, be there in 10" Roman opened the door. The girls left, leaving Roman and Dean alone. "I'm really sorry for being a dick earlier." Dean looked down and played with his fingers.
"Nah dude, you were hurting. I was being a asshole too" Roman sat on the chair in front of the smaller man.
"Paige called me, like hysterically freaking out" Dean chuckled. "You feeling okay though?" Roman asked looking at the bandage
"Yeah they have me on painkillers. I'm fine" he gave a weak smile. Roman stood up and patted Deans knee, "Come on, we better go get our stuff and find the girls"
Dean stood up and rolled his neck and non injured shoulder a bit. They left the room and went back to their locker room to grab their bags, though it didn't take them long because everything was basically packed.
This time they easily found Nikki and Brie's locker room, the door was halfway opened signaling for them to just walk in. They still knocked once though. "Hey guys, just give us 2 minutes" they heard Brie say, finding her on the floor packing her clothes up. Nikki was beside her packing her makeup up.
"Okay we're good to go." they said in sync as they zipped up their bags.
Roman grabbed Brie's duffel bag for her, she smiled at him. Dean turned to grab Nikki's but she stopped him. "No no no, you only got one good arm" he rolled his eyes "Okay whatever" she smiled at him, and squeezed his arm before hooking her arm with Brie's.
They walked to the car, Nikki got the keys as Dean got in the back with Brie. Roman got in the front with Nikki. Brie helped Dean buckle up and he nodded his head as to say thank you. The ride back to the hotel didn't take too long, thankfully there was no traffic and it was a clear night.
"We're here" Nikki announced. Roman got out and helped Dean. The twins got to the trunk after making sure Dean was okay.
Roman grabbed his bag along with Brie's and Nikki's. They both thanked him. Dean made his way to the lobby first, Nikki saw he was already walking away so she ran and caught up with him. Grabbing his hand, he looked down and she nodded. It was a innocent gesture.. really.
Brie and Roman trailed behind them, Brie giggled and Roman grinned and shook his head.
They got to their floor and parted ways, the Divas making sure to hug his non injured side.
"My shoulder is starting to hurt again.. can you get me some aspirin?" Dean asked as he sat down on the bed. "They're in my bag. Should be on top" Roman nodded and walked over to his bag. Kneeling down, he found the pills in a tiny pouch, "How many do you gotta take?" "Uh 2 i think" Roman nodded and grabbed some water from the fridge. Giving them to Dean, he groaned, "So gross"
His phone started ringing from his pocket. He took it out to see it was a text from Nikki.
-Nikki-
Hey Ambrose come to our room for a bit?
He read it out loud, Roman just shrugged. "Go dude" Dean nodded and replied.
-Dean-
Uh sure, what number you guys in?
-Nikki-
Great, 407. See you soon
"Just make sure to behave yourself" Roman teased
"Shut up Ro" Dean laughed "Okay i'll be back in a bit"
Giving Roman a quick fist bump, he left the room. He found their room and knocked a few times. Brie answered the door, giving him a small smile and grabbing his hand, "Hey Dean," Nikki smiled when she saw him.
"Hey, so what's up?" he asked awkwardly looking around.
"I found this cream i'd always put on my shin when i injured it, i figured it might make your shoulder feel better. If you want" she tossed the little container to him so he could read it. "Sure we can try" he smiled.
He turned to Brie, "You should really go keep Roman company y'know." He smiled when she started to blush "He'd really appreciate it"
"Really? i don't wanna be a bother.." Brie played with her sweaters strings. "He won't mind, go on" she gave them both hugs before leaving.
Once she was out of the room, she took a deep breath. Knocking on the door she found herself getting nervous. He opened the door and was obviously surprised. He just got out of the shower, just wearing basketball shorts and had a towel in his hand.
"Hey Brie, what are you doing here?" he moved out of the way letting her in. "Dean and Nikki are busy with his shoulder and it didn't seem fair to leave you alone" she smiled at him.
"Oh well thank you" Roman chuckled "Did you wanna watch a movie or something?"
"Sure. Sounds good" she took her slippers off. He smiled and gestured to his bed so she could sit down and get comfortable. She grabbed one of Deans pillows so she could put it behind her. He put on whatever movie they had, "Uh want a beer?" she contemplated it for a moment before nodding. He grabbed 2 bottles from the mini fridge and turned to walk back to the bed.
"Uh do you want me to put a shirt on?" he looked down and noticed he was still shirtless, "Nah you're good" she grinned. Causing him to laugh.
Handing her a beer, he sat down and made himself comfortable. The movie started and they remained quiet for a short period of time. Their shoulders were touching, but it was nice. She looked down and stared at his tattoo, not that she's never looked at before.. but she's never been this close. "What does it mean?" she asked hushed. "It's just tribal, you know for family heritage and everything"
Brie nodded "It's so beautiful" she started tracing it with her fingers.
"Thank you. it was a bitch to get. Especially the chest piece." he laughed.
"The only tattoos i have are the bear claws" she lifted her shirt and pulled down her leggings a bit to show him fully. He nodded and licked his lips. The air between them suddenly getting heavy.
"I don't know how touchy this subject is for you, but weren't you married?" she looked up at him with a small pout.
"Yeah i was, i met her in college." he smiled weakly "It was great.. then i got signed. It was okay at first, but she started to dislike it real fast. Things obviously changed. I was always on the road and she couldn't handle it. Turns out she cheated on me. Then one day we were on the phone and she flat out told me she wanted a divorce. She told me she couldn't trust ME anymore." he started to get angry, his voice rising. But cracking at the same time. Brie noticed and grabbed his hand. Resting her head on his shoulder. "I was always faithful, i loved her so much. After it was went down though, i got into a bad place mentally. I guess i fell in a heavy depression." he took a deep breath
"Dean, Seth and Paige were always there for me though. I knew i had them.. but i wasn't myself for a long time. I'd just wrestle and drink. It became a continuous loop. Something changed though one day, i had a young fan come up to me.. she had waited hours just to meet me. Just to tell me how much she loved me and how i helped her through some rough patches. She said i was the only thing that could make her smile when she needed it most. I saw her arms though. I hugged her and made her promise me she'd stop." he didn't realize a tear had slipped past his eye until he felt Brie wipe it away.
He cleared his throat, "But year after that.. i don't know i was determined to get better. For myself and for my fans and everyone around me" he looked down at their hands.
"Yeah i was engaged, as you probably know to Daniel Bryan.. but things just didn't work out. Our feelings almost vanished. It was weird. We're still friends though" she said lowly. "I'm really proud of you" looking up and smiling at him, he grinned.
"Whew that was too emotional for me" Roman joked and Brie nodded. "So Seth and Dean know everything, right?"
"Yep, they sat me down one day and literally forced me to tell them everything" he laughed.
