As promised chapter 10!
"Shalom; Director David's office, you are talking to Shiri"
Before the girl could go into more talking Nettie interrupted her "Shalom; Nettie David speaking the directors sister I need to speak to him it's concerning family"
"Sorry ma'm do you have an appointment otherwise I am afraid I cannot help you"
"Did you hear me; I am the directors sister you put me through right now; or so help me I will come down there to personally see him"
"yes ma'm a second please" "Director David"'
"What is it Shiri?" Eli David asked, not remembering any appointment.
"I have your sister on the line sir; she is demanding I put her through."
"Alright" a few seconds later he heard his sisters voice
"Where is Ziva?"
"Skipping the pleasantries I hear"
"Yes, now where is my niece"
"Why the sudden interest Nettie; you can call her yourself"
"I tried, you know normally when I do not speak to Ziva for a while it does not matter I know she is busy with work but I got a call from one of her team mates in America yesterday morning. They cannot contact her; have not heard from her in months."
"What is your point Nettie?"
"If her team in America is concerned for her there must be something going on. I know the things you've done before Eli"
"Nettie when will you learn not to concern yourself with Mossad business."
"Tell me where Ziva is Eli"
"She is fine Nettie. She has been on an undercover mission in Europe more I cannot tell you. I have work Shalom sister" and before Nettie could say anything ells the connection had been broken.
Right after Nettie picked up the phone after receiving his voicemail Nettie left a message detailing her talk with Eli, hoping it would help Tony finding her niece. She did not know if she trusted Eli's words. It was hard to tell if he was lying or telling the truth. With all her heart Nettie hoped that Eli had spoken the truth. It would be better if Ziva was on an deep undercover mission instead of missing.
Ziva's last days in the hospital were spent completely different then all the others, all those weeks before. Once of the younger nurses had gone out with with specific requests from Ziva and Sarah. Having had to borrow pants and shirts from the patient stach, never once being able to wear her own cloths had been driving Ziva insane. And at least this way she could have a real fresh start in the rehabilitation center.
Sarah had been explaining a bit of how it would work in the center. On her very last day Ziva got a surprise visitor. A soft knock on signaled someone at the door. Both the young nurse with new clothes, and Ava.
"Ava!" Ziva said with much surprise in her voice as she pushed herself to sit a little higher in the pillows supporting her back. "What brought you back here?"
"Ziva, I will put your cloths on the chair"
"Thank you Mira"
Ava sat down in the other chair that was right next to Ziva's bed. "I came to bring you this" Ava said as she was handing Ziva an envelop. In silence Ziva opened it.
"Ava Rubens
and
Shay Gabso
Have chosen the first day of their new life together
Saturday, the tenth of May,
You are invited to share in the joy of their weddingat one o'clock in the afternoon.
"
"We decided that in light of what happened everyday could be the last, for either of us, and we did not want to wait another year. Why postpone something we both really want . So we moved the wedding up in three months, actually it's a week after my birthday." For a short while Ziva was silent, questions going through her mind.
"Why? Why invite me? We barley know each other"
"Ziva, you saved my life and I will owe you for that the rest of it. Without you I would not even be marrying Shay, we would love nothing more than for you to be there. But if you don't want to then…"
Ziva put one of her hands on top of Ava's "I will be there. I promise. "
Whole Ava's face lit up into a smile when Ziva spoke those words. "Great, there will be enough room if you bring someone with you. And if there is anything you need I saw the nurse bringing cloths?"
"yes, I cannot go myself and my family…they are not in Israel."
"Well, if you need anything call me that is the least I can do"
"I will"
"Okay, I will see you around Ziva. I need to get back in time for class.'Shalom"
"Shalom Ava."
And with the young woman walking away quiet and calm returned to her room.
