HISTORY REPEATING

FLASH BACK

Mystic Falls 1864

Damon Salvatore was sleeping soundly in his bed when he heard the sound of someone sobbing uncontrollably. He jerked awake and saw a figure sitting on a floor close to the window. The moonlight coming into the room helped him in recognizing the face of the intruder.

"Silvia", Damon whispered softly as he walked with slow steps towards his love. She became quite, looking up at him.

Tears were cascading down those cheeks that he loved to caress. Her usual dark-brown bright eyes were swollen and the baby pink lips that always made him crazy were darker because of something that was smeared on her mouth and chin. Her beautiful hairs were disheveled. In that moment Damon felt like he had lost something that he valued the most, the thing that was missing from her pretty face- her innocence and kindness.

As he grew closer, he felt her getting tensed. She moved back a little but he didn't take a clue and continued to approach her.

"Don't come near me", she said in a broken voice.

"Silvia, what happened?" he questioned as he reached her and sat in front of the beautiful girl. He noticed her white dress was stained too.

"Damon, I am dead", she choked on her tears.

"What are you saying, Silvia", he asked, puzzled. "Are you alright?" he took her face in his hands and realized the crimson liquid was blood. "How did you get blood on your clothes and face?"

"He killed me, Damon. Rufus killed me", she sobbed. "I am dead".

"But you are here. How can you be dead then?" he asked, clueless.

"I am vampire, Damon", she responded. "Rufus turned me". For a few seconds Damon completely forgot to breathe.

"I killed Miss Macready. I couldn't control myself, Damon", she cried, removing his hands from her stunning face and hid it behind her small delicate hands.

"Sssshhh… everything will be fine", he assured her as he tried bringing her closer to his body.

"No", she shouted and with in a second she was in another corner, away from him. "Don't come near me. I am a monster".

"No you are not", he told her resolutely. "You can never be a monster", he stated, walking towards her. This time she didn't zipped away from him. He snaked his strong arms around her petite frame. She protested weakly for sometime but then gave in to his touch.

"Everything will be fine", he assured, kissing the top of her hand.

END OF FLASH BACK

Pearl, Elena and Caroline were walking towards the school building indulged in a conversation about their young witch friend.

"Have you even talked to Bonnie?" Elena questioned the blonde who was walking between the two girls.

"No I'm mad at her", Caroline informed them. "She needs to make the first move".

"What if she thinks the same?" Pearl piped up, looking at the blonde.

"Be the bigger person", Elena advised.

"Impossible in her presence", the blonde beauty responded angrily.

"What if she thinks the same?" Pearl repeated with a smirk. The blonde glared at the petite girl at her non-serious behavior.

"Pearl", Elena warned, not wanting Caroline to become furious. "Why are you so pissed at her anyway?" she asked.

"Can I say something?" Pearl interrupted again, holding her hand up in air like she was in a classroom. Elena gave her a look. "Hey, I am not gonna repeat that sentence again", she said defensively. "I won't even make sense if I do. She is pissed at Bonnie because Bonnie doesn't give her that stupid necklace back", she told the tall brunette.

"She's a thief", Caroline stated curtly. "I gave her my necklace, and she refuses to give it back. It's a matter of principle".

"You only want it back because Damon wants it", Pearl pointed out.

"All right… Well, I tried. I'm officially out of it", Elena said ending the subject.

"Good", Caroline nodded. "Your turn. Where's Stefan? Have you talked to him?" the blonde inquired.

"He's avoiding me", the tall girl answered.

"Why?" Caroline pried.

"It's complicated", Elena responded. "I'll see you later. Pearl, you coming?" she directed at her.

"Yeah", she nodded and the two walked away.

Pearl and Elena entered their history classroom that was already crowded with students and occupied seats. Few minutes later Bonnie hurriedly entered the classroom with a freaked out look on her face. A man in his early thirties got inside the classroom after her.

"What happened to her?" Pearl whispered to Elena as they saw the troubled girl.

"Good Morning, everyone", the man announced. "Alrighty", he turned to the board.

"Are you okay?" Elena mouthed to Bonnie. The olive-skinned girl shrugged in response, then looked down.

"Alaric Saltzman", he wrote on the black board. "It's a mouthful. I know. Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue", he joked. "Saltzman is of German origins. My family immigrated here in 1755 to Texas. I, however, was born and raised in Boston", he told everyone. "Now the name Alaric belongs to a very dead great-grandfather I will never be able to thank enough", he smirked. "You'll probably want to pronounce "Alaric" but it's ..."Alaric", okay. So you can call me Rick. I'm your new history teacher".

In the Salvatore boarding house Stefan was fast asleep in his room enjoying a peaceful sleep after the last night's tiring events. But the younger Salvatore was unaware that his peace wouldn't last long. Damon entered the room with a mug of hot coffee in his hands.

"Rise and Shine", Damon announced. "You'll be late for school".

"What... ", Stefan sat up quickly. "What are you doing?" he demanded.

"Peace offering", Damon answered as he held out the mug towards Stefan. Stefan stood up about to walk away but Damon blocked his path. "Come on you need it for blood circulation. Does dead flesh good", he tried. "All right. I'm Sorry", he apologized finally for what he had done.

"Step aside, please", Stefan asked, irritated by Damon's constant nagging. The younger Salvatore got past his blue-eyed brother and into the bathroom.

"I got the town off our back", Damon justified his actions. "It was for the greater good but I'm sorry. And to prove it, I'm not gonna feed on a human for at least a ...week", he added after thinking a bit. "I'll adopt a Stefan diet, only nothing with feathers". The last statement was followed by slight flinching.

"Cause I realize that killing your closest and oldest friend is beyond evil, and yet somehow, it's worthy of humor", Stefan said coming out of the bathroom, pretending to be his elder brother.

"Are you mimicking me?" Damon asked creasing his jet black eyebrows.

"Yes, Stefan", Stefan nodded. "Now that the secret society of vampires' haters is off our back, I can go back to my routine of Pearl-stalking and destroying Stefan's life", he continued.

"And I can go back to sulking and Elena-longing and forehead brooding", Damon tried forming a brooding look. "This is fun. I like this", the elder Salvatore added, breaking the character for a moment.

"And I will finally reveal the ulterior motive behind my evil and diabolical return to Mystic Falls", Stefan took a shot.

"Yeah… I'm done", Damon said as he walked towards the door. "That's just like you, Damon. Always have to have the last word", he turned imitating his brother one last time.

In Mystic Falls High Pearl, Bonnie and Elena were sitting on the benches in the school grounds. The young witch was telling them about the morning events and her ancestor Emily.

"And then I ended up at the remains of the old Fell's church before I woke up back in the woods", Bonnie informed them.

"You just sleep-walked all the way to woods and didn't even realize it", Pearl asked, incredulously. Bonnie nodded with a trouble look on her pretty face.

"And you always see your ancestor Emily?" Elena questioned.

"Mhm. Do you believe in ghosts?" Bonnie asked nervously.

"Two weeks ago we'd said no but now... ", Elena trailed off.

"Yeah now we will even believe if someone tell us that aliens and fairies exist", Pearl responded resting her hands on the table.

"I think I'm being haunted", Bonnie voiced her thoughts.

"I don't get it", Elena shook her head. "Why Emily..?"

"Grams said she was a powerful witch back in the civil war days and that this medallion was hers, a witch's talisman", Bonnie informed, fiddling with her necklace.

"And it all started when you got the necklace?" Elena inquired.

"I think she's using it to communicate with me", Bonnie stated timidly.

"Why don't you tell your Grams?" Pearl presented.

"I can't call her", Bonnie replied, shaking her head. "She's gonna tell me to embrace it .I don't want to embrace it, I want it to stop", she added looking at her two best friends.

Pearl and Elena were walking in the school hallways. They were talking about Stefan who hadn't replied to Elena's calls or messages since last night after Lexi's incident. The tall brunette was fairly worried about the younger Salvatore.

"May be he is busy in his vampire stuff", Pearl tried easing Elena's worry. "And after what happened last night… ", she trailed off.

"Even if he is busy, he could call back or text. It's like he is ignoring me", Elena replied.

"If you want, we can go to the boarding house", Pearl suggested.

"I don't know", Elena sighed.

They wandered out of the school building and Pearl's dark-brown eyes landed on a lone figure sitting on one of the benches in the school grounds. She nudged Elena and pointed at Stefan Salvatore.

"Go talk to him… ", she urged her tall friend.

"Aren't you coming?" Elena questioned.

"No. first I don't like to be third wheel and second I have to find Bonnie", she responded with a grin and left.

Bonnie was walking with her books clutched to her chest when Damon came out of no where, startling the young witch. She jumped back scared of the blue-eyed Salvatore.

"Okay, it's your last chance", Damon warned the olive-skinned girl.

"I'm gonna scream", Bonnie stated, walking past him.

"Oh no, don't do that", he said walking beside her, jogging a little to keep up with the young witch. "Let's stay on point. I want my necklace".

"You can't have it", Bonnie said, trying to act brave.

"I can't take it but you can give it to me", Damon replied. "I'm trying to help you here".

"I don't want your help", Bonnie reacted with a hint of anger in her eyes.

"You do want my help, and you don't even know it", Damon stated stopping Bonnie from getting inside the car. "You know why, you little witch? Cause you've stumbled into something you need to stumble out of".

"Just leave me alone or I swear... ", Bonnie began.

"Don't", Damon interrupted her before she could finish her threat. "No threats", he warned her. "A, you hurt me last time. B, I wish you no harm. Believe it or not Bonnie, I wanna protect you. Let me help you get Emily off your Back".

"How do you know about her?" Bonnie quizzed shock evident on her pretty face..

"I know a lot of things, and I know more about that crystal than you do, and I know that she's using it to creep inside of you. See how scared you are?" Damon pointed out the frightful look on Bonnie's face. "And you should be, because I will get that crystal, even if I have to wait for Emily to give it to me herself. So, Next time she comes out to play, you tell her...That a deal's a deal". He opened Bonnie's car door and stepped aside to allow her to get inside the car.

"He's bad news. He really scared me", Bonnie stated as she told Pearl and Elena about her encounter with the elder Salvatore. The three girls were riding in Bonnie's car.

"You need to stay as far away from Damon as possible", Elena warned from the front seat.

"Yeah, he is capable of anything, Bon", Pearl nodded at the scared girl from the back seat.

"I'm trying", Bonnie responded. "He just keeps showing up".

"I don't want you to be alone", Elena said, concerned. "You're sleeping at my place tonight. We will invite Caroline too, make a whole night out of it", she presented.

"You know, I am in", Pearl grinned, wiggling her eyebrows. Bonnie steered the car at the side of the road and stopped it. She opened the door and got out.

"Woah! Where are you going?" Elena called.

Pearl and Elena followed Bonnie outside the car and saw her ripping off the necklace from around her neck. The olive-skinned girl threw the reason of her problems in the open filed.

"You good", Pearl questioned as Bonnie approached them.

"Now I am", Bonnie smiled. "All my problems were because of that thing. Can't believe I didn't do that sooner".

"What's your Grams gonna say?" Elena asked.

"Grams isn't the one being haunted by a hundred and fifty-years-old ghost, is she?" Bonnie looked at the two girls in front of her.

"Okay, then", Elena shrugged while Pearl grinned at the young witch.

Pearl was in her room working on her school work before leaving for the sleepover at Elena's place but three words were running in her mind- Bonnie, necklace and Damon. Even though the necklace was gone she was still worried about her witch friend. What if Damon got furious after finding out that Bonnie had discarded the necklace?

Only one solution came to her mind, the good Salvatore brother who would definitely help her. He could be the only option to stop Damon from pestering Bonnie anymore. She closed her book and searched for her phone on the study table messing it even more. Finally she found her phone beneath one of her books and dialed Stefan's number.

"Stefan's phone", she heard an annoying voice from the other end.

"Is Stefan home?" she asked without wasting a breath.

"Hello to you too, Pearl", Damon responded and she was sure he had that irking smirk on his face.

"Is Stefan home", she repeated ignoring his comment.

"Yep", he replied popping 'p'. Before he could utter another word Pearl disconnected the call. She sprinted downstairs after grabbing her car keys and drove to the boarding house.

After reaching her intended destination she left her car and made her way to the boarding house front door. Before she could even rang the door bell the door was opened revealing Damon Salvatore dressed in all black like always. He smirked at her.

"Where is Stefan?" she questioned.

"He left five minutes ago", Damon answered simply.

"What!" she exclaimed. "You didn't tell him I called?"

"I forgot", Damon shrugged. She gave him a look and opened her mouth to deliver a series of insults but then thought about keeping quite.

"Hey wait", Damon called after Pearl as she turned to leave.

"What?" she asked harshly looking back at him.

"If you have any important message, you can tell me…. I'll forward it to Stefan", he responded.

"Tell him to keep his psycho brother on a leash and away from Bonnie or I won't hesitate in ending his sorry life", she replied nonchalantly.

She moved towards her car with fast steps but before she could reach it Damon appeared in front of her stopping her movements.

"Threatening a vampire like this, what are you? Stupid or brave?" he spoke in husky voice looking down at her with his stunning orbs. But this time Pearl didn't get lost in his hypnotizing eyes.

"What about you, a vampire with humanity or a psycho killer?" she countered.

"A psycho killer", he smirked. "You said yourself", he pointed out.

"Then why saved me, why helped Jeremy", she retorted finally asking the question that was troubling her. "And don't say 'why not' ", she quoted his previous words. She wanted to know the reason behind his good acts. Was it just an act or something else?

Damon didn't know what answer to give her. For sometime he didn't utter a word gazing at her with a weird look on his face.

"Stefan is at Elena's", he said after sometime and disappeared. Pearl heard the sound door of front door being closed. She got in her car and left.

The door bell of the Gilbert house rang and Elena made her way towards the door. She opened it and found Stefan standing on the other side.

"Hey. Thanks for coming", Elena said. "I wouldn't have called if it wasn't important".

"I know that", Stefan nodded understandingly. She accompanied him outside the house closing the door behind.

"He threatened her, Stefan", Elena informed seriously.

"What would Damon want with Bonnie?" Stefan asked creasing his jet black eyebrows.

"She has this necklace", Elena answered. "Caroline got it from Damon, and she gave it to Bonnie, and now Damon wants it back. He's tormenting her".

"Over a necklace..?" Stefan said, confused.

"It's not just any necklace. It has to do with Bonnie's heritage. It belonged to one of her ancestors who lived here during the Civil War when you and Damon lived here", the tall brunette stated.

"Her name was Emily. She was Katherine's handmaid and a witch", Stefan informed.

"You know? About Bonnie?" said Elena, shocked.

"The first night that you invited me over for dinner, I made the connection", he replied.

"And... now Damon knows, and...for some reason he wants that necklace", she told him.

"What does it look like?" he inquired.

"It's...an antique iron setting with a... ", she started.

"With an amber crystal", Stefan interrupted her. "I know it. It belonged to Silvia. Emily gave it to her, which means that... ", he trailed away with a puzzled look on his face.

"What?" Elena questioned.

"I don't know, but I'm gonna find it out. Let me talk to Damon", he responded.

"Will he tell you?" Elena said doubtfully.

"I'll get it out of him", Stefan said with determination and left.

In the Mystic grill Damon was sitting at the bar with brooding forehead that was his brother's signature look. He took a gulp from the whiskey bottle his mind on a certain petite beauty. She really knew how to make the blue-eyed vampire speechless by her questions.

"So Stefan...You know, I've been thinking", Stefan announced joining Damon, interrupting his train of thought. "I think we should start over, give this brother thing another chance. We used to do it, oh, so well once upon time", he added thinking about the happy past.

"I don't, Damon", Damon played his part in the mimicking game. "I can't trust you to be a nice guy. You kill everybody, and you're so mean. You're so mean, and... ", he thought but couldn't find any words. "You're really hard to imitate", he broke the character, "and then I have to go to that lesser place".

"Can I get a coffee, please?" Stefan said to the bartender. "So what's with the bottle?"

"I'm on edge. Crash diet, and I'm trying to keep a low profile", the blue eyed brother responded.

"You could always just leave, find a new town to turn into your own personal gas and sip", Stefan suggested.

"I'll manage", Damon shook his head with a smirk. "You don't have to keep an eye on me".

"I'm not here to keep an eye on you", Stefan replied.

"So why are you here?" Damon quizzed staring at his brother.

"Why not..?" Stefan said, picking up a whiskey bottle and walked away.

The four best friends were at the Gilbert house's kitchen getting the food ready for the sleepover. Pearl was munching on cookies. her dark-brown orbs darting between her three best friends. No one was talking and the kitchen atmosphere was tense.

"Okay I am officially bored", Pearl grumbled, putting her arms on the counter and resting her head over it.

The three girls stopped what they were doing and looked at the short stature girl. Elena gave her a questioning look.

"I wish I have stayed at home with Seth. At least there wouldn't be any awkward silence", she reacted looking at Elena.

"Okay I'm sorry", Caroline announced looking at the olive-skinned witch. "There I said it. If you want the ugly-ass necklace, keep it. It's yours", she added with a gentle smile.

"Will you hate me if I tell you I threw it away?" Bonnie questioned timidly, scared of blonde's response.

"You threw it away?" Caroline exclaimed, a slight hint of anger clear in her voice.

"I know it sounds crazy but the necklace was giving me nightmares", Bonnie explained. "I had to get rid of it".

"You could have just given it back to me", Caroline snapped.

"Yeah so you could go straight to Damon and present it to him", Pearl piped up with an eye roll. "You never learn, Care", she added shaking her head. It really angered Pearl seeing her blonde best friend wrapped around Damon's finger.

"Screw Damon", the blonde beauty snarled. Pearl really wanted to do the happy dance on her words but she resisted herself. "Are we doing manicures or what? Who has their kit?" she asked looking at the three girls.

"Mine's in my bag", Bonnie responded.

"So Elena", Caroline began as she rummaged in Bonnie's bag. "How long do you think this fight with Stefan's gonna last? Is it...like a permanent thing?" she pried.

"I don't know Caroline", Elena answered.

"Why are you such a little liar, Bonnie?" Caroline said angrily.

"What?" Bonnie asked, clueless.

"Caroline!" Elena scolded the blonde for her rudeness.

The three girls' eyes widened as they watch Caroline taking out the amber crystal from the bag.

"I'm not lying to you, Caroline. I swear", Bonnie tried to convince the blonde."

It's true. We watched her throw it into a field", Elena looked at Pearl, backing up Bonnie.

"Yeah", Pearl nodded. "She threw it away when we were returning from school", she added.

"Then explain it", Caroline demanded holding the crystal up in their faces.

"Emily", Bonnie uttered with terror.

"Who's Emily?" Caroline questioned, confusedly.

"The ghost", Bonnie responded.

"The ghost has a name now?" Caroline huffed, rolling her pretty blue eyes.

"Caroline, please", Elena said to stop her.

"I wonder why she won't leave me alone", Bonnie asked staring at Pearl and Elena.

"That's creepy, Bon. You should better tell your Grams", Pearl told her.

"What is going on?" Caroline demanded from the other three. "Why am I not a part of this conversation? You guys do this to me all the time", she complained.

"That's not true", Elena denied.

"Yes it is", Bonnie cut her off. "I can't talk to you. You don't listen", she pointed out.

"That's not true", Caroline shook her head, not accepting Bonnie's accusations.

"I'm a witch", Bonnie stated simply.

"And don't we all know it?" Caroline reacted taking her words as a joke.

"See?" Bonnie looked at Elena and Pearl. "That's what I'm talking about. I'm trying to tell you something. You don't even hear it", she said to the blonde beauty. The young witch looked at Caroline with disappointment clear in her eyes and left the kitchen.

"I listen. When do I not listen?" Caroline said to Elena and Pearl.

"I am getting a feeling that you won't like my reply", Pearl replied with a nervous smile.

Stefan and Damon were still in the Mystic grill indulged in a game of darts and not at each other's throats.

"Lucky shot", Damon said to his younger brother at his almost victory in the game.

"More like a carefully honed skill over many decades", Stefan responded smugly with a goofy grin on his handsome face.

"You're beating me", Damon stated as he noticed their scores.

"Yeah. It's because I'm better than you", Stefan gloated, teasing his brother.

"I'm onto you. Reverse psychology", Damon glared at him taking the darts from his hands. "It's a little transparent, but I admire the effort".

"You prefer the brooding forehead?" the green eyed brother questioned forming creases on his forehead.

"Seriously, what game do you think you're playing?" the elder Salvatore asked directly.

"That's a funny question considering the fact that I have been asking you that for months", Stefan replied. "It's frustrating, isn't it?" he smirked.

"Touché", Damon gave him a look.

At the Gilberts, Elena and Pearl were still in the kitchen. Caroline had joined Bonnie in the room to apologize and make things better.

"Do you want to eavesdrop?" Pearl asked casually.

"Give them some time alone", Elena refused Pearl's offer.

"I am not asking to go in there and interrupt the chick-flick moment", Pearl rolled her eyes. "We will just hear whatever they are saying by standing outside", she suggested, giving a puppy dog look.

"Okay", Elena chuckled.

"Bonnie. Look, it's just not me", they overheard Caroline saying to Bonnie. "I don't believe in the... ", there was a break. "But if you do, then...Okay. I'm in. That's all it takes for me to jump on board, because I consider you to be my best friend", she continued. "And I'm saying this knowing that Elena and Pearl are in the kitchen listening to my every word. Look, I didn't know how real this was for you, but I'm listening now. Okay? Elena, Pearl, you can come in now. We're done", she called.

Both girls grinned at each other and entered the room.

"Actually we were standing just outside the door", Pearl informed with a grin.

"There is just way too much drama in this room", Caroline stated. "So what do you guys wanna do? I have an idea. Why don't we have a séance?" she suggested with her eyes twinkling.

"I don't think that's a good idea", Bonnie shook her head not idea.

"Me too", Pearl agreed. "You guys know I am a scaredy-cat", she announced.

"Come on", Caroline urged the two. "Let's summon some spirits. This Emily chick has some serious explaining to do", she giggled. Pearl and Bonnie shared nervous looks.

Pearl and Bonnie at last agreed to Caroline's idea as the blonde was more persistent than the other two. They went up to Elena's bedroom for summoning Emily's spirit. The four girls were sitting in a circle on the floor with unlit candles. The curtains were drawn and there was an utter darkness in the room.

"What are we doing?" Bonnie asked looking around at the three girls.

"I don't know", Elena answered.

"How about we watch some movie, leave the spirits at peace?" Pearl suggested her fear of ghosts and spirits dripping from her voice.

"Be quiet and concentrate", Caroline ordered. "Close your eyes", she said taking Pearl's and Bonnie's hands. "Now take a deep breathe. Bonnie. Call to her".

"Emily you there..?" Bonnie called her ancestor peaking through one eye. Despite her fear, a few chuckles escaped Pearl's mouth.

"Really?" Caroline rolled her eyes at Bonnie. "'Emily you there..?' That's all you got?"

"Emily. I call on you", Bonnie said seriously. "I know you have a message. I'm here to listen".

Suddenly candles flared up. All of them opened their eyes and saw the flaming candles with disbelieving looks on their faces.

"Did that just... ", Elena trailed off.

"Yeah, it just happened", the blonde responded. All of a sudden the felt an eerie cold in the room as the temperature lowered.

"It's getting cold", Pearl gasped as she folded her arms around the torso.

"It's just the air conditioning", Bonnie gave the reason.

"Ask her to show you a sign", Caroline said to Bonnie. "Ask her. Emily if you're among us, show us another sign" she announced.

"See? It's not working", Bonnie said. The bedroom window opened on its own startling and scaring the four girls.

"I can't. I'm done", the olive-skinned beauty stood up ripping off the necklace from around her neck and throwing it on the floor. The candles went out and the darkness swallowed the room once again.

"Turn on the light", Pearl yelled, terribly scared.

"Hold on. I got it", Elena stood up quickly and fumbled with the switch. After a few seconds the whole room was illuminated by a bright light.

"You guys, the necklace, it's gone", Bonnie said horror-struck as she saw the necklace was no where on the ground.

Stefan was walking on the football field with a football clutched in his hands while Damon followed him with a bored expression.

"What are we doin' here?" the elder Salvatore questioned.

"Bonding", Stefan replied casually. "Catch!" he threw the ball at Damon. Damon caught the ball with one hand while in his other hand he had a whiskey bottle. He passed it back to Stefan.

"Go on. Give it a try", Stefan said as he threw the ball again at Damon.

"Don't forget who taught you how to play this game". Damon said he launched the ball in air and chased it with a lightning speed.

Stefan appeared in front of Damon and tackled him to the ground.

"That hurt", Damon groaned as both brothers fell on the ground.

"Downside of my diet ...getting hit actually hurts a little bit", Stefan informed as they both continued to lay on the field.

"I'm impressed Stefan", Damon told with a nod. "Fun with Booze and darts, sentimental with football, and now starry night", he said looking up at the star etched sky. "What do you want, Stefan?"

"You have to let go, Damon. Your love for Silvia, like I did for Katherine", said Stefan solemnly. "She would never want you to be like this".

"Oh, no Stefan… We are not taking that on tonight", Damon left his spot from the ground standing up.

"What do you want with Silvia's crystal?" the younger Salvatore asked, following his brother lead and standing up too.

"How do you know about that?" Damon responded with a question.

"Come on, you knew Elena would tell me", Stefan replied.

"How do you know it was Silvia's? Emily gave it to her on her last night. I was with her, and you weren't", he asked suspiciously.

"I met her before she came at our place to meet you, Damon", Stefan answered. "I escorted her to our house to meet father", he said with a grave tone.

A look of pure fury darkened Damon's handsome. He zipped towards Stefan with rage building inside him.

"I could rip your heart out and not think twice about it", Damon hissed as he remembered everything that happened on Silvia's last night with him.

"I've heard that before", Stefan rolled his eyes.

"I have a bigger surprise, Stefan. I'm gonna bring her back", Damon said picking up the ball from the ground and walked away.

In Elena's bedroom the four best friends were freaking out because of the missing necklace. They searched the entire room but couldn't find it.

"Okay, fun's over, Caroline", Elena said angrily to the blonde girl. "You made a point, and I get it. Now give it back", she ordered.

"What? Well, I didn't take it", Caroline replied, offended on being accused. Her eyes landed on the petite girl. "Pearl I know you have it, give it back".

"Me?" Pearl responded incredulously. "In case you haven't noticed I was too busy being scared, I don't have time to play pranks", she countered shaking her head.

Elena's eyes traveled outside the room and she saw a shadow passing through the bathroom. She jumped back making everyone in the room startled.

"What? What happened?" Caroline questioned.

"I don't know. Nothing", Elena answered moving forward. "Jeremy, are you home?" she called but received no response.

Bonnie saw something shinning on the bathroom floor. She slowly moved towards it with her heart beating fast. She got inside the bathroom and picked up the crystal.

"Guys... ", she called to let them know about the crystal but suddenly the door slammed shut locking her inside the bathroom. "You guys open the door. Help me", she demanded sounding terrified.

Pearl, Elena and Caroline moved towards the door and tried opening it but it wouldn't budge at all. They heard Bonnie's scream from the other side.

"Bon", Pearl hollered as she repeatedly slammed herself on the door.

"Bonnie! Bonnie! What's going on, Bonnie?" Elena asked, aghast.

"Bonnie!" Caroline yelled.

"Try the other door", Elena said to the other two. "I'll check the hallway".

"Bonnie! Bonnie! Unlock the door!" the blonde shouted again. There was an absolute silence on the other side.

"Should we call someone?" Pearl looked at Caroline as she fumbled with the door handle.

The door burst open and Bonnie was standing there. She seemed fine.

"What happened? Are you okay?" Pearl inquired, approaching her.

"I'm fine", Bonnie reacted calmly like nothing had happened.

"Unbelievable. You were totally faking it", Caroline growled.

"Caroline. Come on", Elena grabbed her arm. The blonde slapped the brunette's hand away.

"No, you scared the hell out of me", Caroline informed the olive-skinned girl before walking away.

"You really scared us, Bon", Pearl said seriously.

"I'm fine. Everything's fine", Bonnie replied, serenely. She left Pearl's side and walked past Elena and out of the room. Pearl and Elena stared at each other with confused looks on their faces at Bonnie's weird behavior.

On the football field Stefan Salvatore was the one who was mow following Damon this time as the elder Salvatore casually walked forward with ball.

"How can you bring Silvia back?" Stefan asked Damon.

"Before Silvia, Katherine and the others were killed in the church, you remember what it was like in this town?" Damon questioned looking back at Stefan.

"I remember the fear and the hysteria", Stefan answered with a nod.

"Town's people were killing vampires one by one. When they came for Silvia, I went straight to Emily, said, 'I'll do anything. Name your price; Just protect her.' She did", Damon informed.

"How…?" Stefan quizzed curiously.

"She did some kind of spell with the crystal. And while the church was burning and we thought Silvia was burning in it. She wasn't", Damon explained to his younger brother.

"But you said you saw her go inside", Stefan said confusion clear in his forest green orbs as he didn't comprehend what Damon was telling him.

"There's a tomb underneath the church. The spell sealed Silvia in that tomb, protecting her", Damon ended his brother's confusion.

"Are you telling me that Silvia is alive?" Stefan asked for confirmation.

"If that's what you wanna call it", Damon smirked. "She's been trapped in a mystical holding cell for the last century and a half, but you're an expert on starving a vampire, so how do you think she's doing, Stefan? Did you know that witches can use celestial events to draw energy into their magic? Me either", he added with a laugh. "But in order to give the crystal its power, Emily used the comet that was passing overhead, and in order for that crystal to work again... ", he trailed off letting his brother to figure it out.

"The comet had to return", Stefan finished, finally understanding everything.

"Downside...Long time in between comets and a couple of hiccups along the way with the crystal but the comet passed, and I got the crystal. And then Caroline got the crystal, and now Bonnie has the crystal and here we are", Damon said.

"Why would Emily...Why would she do this for you?" Stefan inquired.

"Because she knew they were gonna come for her too, and she made me promise that her lineage would survive", Damon told.

"I remember. You saved her children", Stefan nodded.

"It's the only thing keeping me from ripping that little Bonnie girl's throat out to get my crystal back", the elder Salvatore hissed. "Well. A deal's a deal. So...You wanna go throw some more?" he added coolly.

Elena and Pearl were right behind Bonnie as she walked the hallway. Pearl could sense something strange about her young witch friend but she couldn't put a finger on it.

"I can't believe I fell for it", Caroline shook her head.

"Are you okay?" Elena asked, concerned about Bonnie's odd behavior.

"I must go", Bonnie announced.

"She's leaving. I'm leaving", Caroline said sharply.

"You guys can't leave", Elena looked at the two girls.

"I can. I've had enough freaky fake witch stuff for one night", the blonde girl responded with an angry look.

"Thank you for having me. I'll take it from here", Bonnie responded looking at the three girls. She started walking down the stairs.

"Where are you going?" Pearl questioned grabbing Bonnie's arm to gain her attention as she hurriedly followed her.

"Back to where it all began", Bonnie replied monotonously. She broke Pearl's hold on her arm. She opened the door and went out in to the chilly night while Pearl was right behind her.

"Bon, wait. What the hell is wrong with you?" the petite beauty snapped, holding her arm again this time more firmly.

"I won't let him have it. It must be destroyed", Bonnie answered and began to walk. Pearl was glued to the spot with a perplexed look on her face which changed into the terrified one.

"Emily", she whispered. Her eyes scanned the area but Bonnie was gone. She remembered the conversation they had this morning. One word came to her mind 'Fell's Church'. She didn't even think for a second as she went in search of her possessed friend.

Meanwhile Elena reached the front door after Pearl had left after Bonnie. She tried opening the door but Emily had locked the door from her magic. Finally the tall brunette realized the reason for Bonnie's strange actions.

"What's happening?" Caroline asked worriedly.

"I don't know. The door, it's not... ", Elena answered as she fumbled with the door handle scared for Pearl who was outside with Bonnie.

Suddenly the door was opened from outside. Both girls screamed at the top of their lungs but became quite as they saw the younger Gilbert on the other side.

"What the hell?" Jeremy looked at them like they had gone nuts.

"I'm outta here", Caroline announced and left.

Elena rushed outside but found no sign of either of her best friends. She took out her phone and quickly dialed Stefan's number.

"What's wrong?" the younger Salvatore asked after attending the call.

"It's Bonnie", Elena answered with a cracked voice.

"What happened?" Stefan questioned with a calm tone.

"Emily is possessing her", Elena responded. "She left and Pearl followed her Stefan", she added terrified for her petite friend.

"Where do you think she went?" Stefan said, tensed.

"I don't know. Fell's church, by the old cemetery that's where she took Bonnie in her dreams", she replied. "We have to help them, Stefan", she said close to tears.

"Just stay there. I'm gonna go find her", he assured her and hung up. Stefan looked around. Damon was no where.

"Hello Emily. You look different", Damon droned as he followed a possessed Bonnie in the ruins of Fell's church.

"I won't let you do it", Emily made clear.

"We had a deal", Damon reminded her furiously.

"Things are different now", Emily replied as she continued to move forward.

The vampire and the witch sensed the presence of someone else and heard the sound of footsteps on the forest floor. Damon shook his head as he recognized those footsteps. He knew who the person was even before seeing her face.

A few moments later Pearl joined the two in the clearing. Her breathing was ragged and her heart was pounding in her chest.

"What are you doing here?" Damon spat.

"Emily you have to leave Bonnie's body", she said to the powerful witch not paying attention to the blue-eyed vampire. "She hasn't done anything", she pleaded.

"I will when I finish what I had started", Emily said confidently as she started drawing circle on the ground.

"I protected your family. You owe me", Damon growled stalking towards her.

"I know. I'm sorry", Emily said sincerely.

"You're about to be a lot more than that", Damon's voice grew dark and he zipped towards her to take out his anger.

"Damon", Pearl shrieked scared what he might do to her best friend.

But Emily was more powerful and was prepared. She slammed Damon against a tree. He looked down and saw a tree branch sticking out of his stomach. He groaned with pain. Pearl gave one last look at Bonnie who was indulged in making different symbols on the dirty forest floor. Then the petite beauty moved towards the blue-eyed vampire who had saved her life.

"You okay?" she asked with a hint of worry in her voice.

"Get me down", he said to her, his voice cracking because of pain.

Pearl tried as she stood on her tiptoes but she found herself helpless because of her short height.

"Come on, quick", Damon said impatiently.

"I am trying, I can't reach", she snapped.

Stefan arrived at the scene and saw his brother stabbed to a tree and Pearl struggling to reach him. Stefan moved Pearl aside and brought Damon down.

"It hurts. This is why I feed on people", Damon hissed.

"Stefan", Emily greeted the younger Salvatore.

"Hello Emily", Stefan said back.

"These people don't deserve this. They should never have to know such evil", Emily directed at Stefan. Then her eyes rested at Pearl standing beside Damon who was on the ground clutching his stomach.

"What do you mean evil?" Stefan was puzzled.

"Emily. I swear to God I'll make you regret this", Damon warned as he tried standing up.

"I won't let you unleash them into this world", Emily said. She stood inside the circle that she had created.

"Them?" Stefan questioned. "What part of the story did you leave out, Damon?" he looked at the elder Salvatore.

"What does it matter?" Damon replied.

"Emily, tell me what you did", Stefan demanded.

"To save her, I had to save them", Emily informed. Pearl eyes were darting between Stefan and Emily not understanding what they were talking about.

"You saved everyone in the church?" Stefan exclaimed with disbelieve.

"With one, comes all", Emily replied gravely.

"I don't care about them. I just want Silvia", Damon begged.

"I knew I shouldn't have believed a single word that comes out of your mouth", Stefan roared angrily. "This isn't about love, is it? This is about revenge".

"The two aren't mutually exclusive", Damon countered.

"27 Vampires, Damon. You can't just bring them back. Damon, you can't do this", Stefan shook his head.

"Why not..?" Damon exclaimed.

"Because it's selfish even for someone like you", Pearl answered his question.

"You stay out of this", Damon warned the petite beauty grabbing her arms roughly.

"No I won't", she gazed at him fiercely. "I won't let you do destroy my town".

"You don't know a thing. This town deserves this", he said removing his grip from her arms and turned, not able to look in Pearl's intense eyes.

"You're blaming innocent people for something that happened 145 years ago", Stefan said disbelievingly.

"There is nothing innocent about these people, and don't think for a second it won't happen again. They already know too much, and they'll burn your little grand witch right next to us when they find out. Trust me", Damon growled.

"Things are different now", Emily responded.

"Don't do this", Damon pleaded moving towards the witch.

"I can't free them. I won't. Incendia!" Emily yelled. Suddenly roaring flames blazed around Bonnie encircling her completely so Damon couldn't approach her.

"No! No please", Damon begged, looking desperate.

"Pearl, Bonnie!" Elena shouted as she stepped in to the clearing.

"No!" Damon yelled.

The ancient witch threw Silvia's crystal in air. It smashed into small pieces crushing Damon's hopes too.

Emily departed from Bonnie's body and the fire died down. Bonnie looked up at everyone around her, not having a clue of what had happened. A surge of anger erupted inside the blue-eyed vampire and he launched himself at Bonnie before anyone could stop him. He bit in her flesh viciously.

Pearl and Elena sprinted towards their olive-skinned friend as Stefan pulled his brother back. Both girls fell on their knees beside their young witch friend who had fallen on the ground unconscious.

"Bonnie", Pearl whispered horror struck. Stefan joined them too.

The younger Salvatore pressed his ear to Bonnie's chest and heard her faint heart beat.

"She's alive, but barely. I can save her", Stefan assured them. He ripped the flesh of his wrist with jagged teeth and fed Bonnie his blood.

"Her neck. It's healing", Elena said sounding relieved.

Pearl looked back and found the elder Salvatore rooted to the spot. Rage build inside her as she made her way towards him, all thoughts about Damon having even a shred of humanity left her mind.

"How could you", she growled furiously.

"Pearl… ", he started to explain himself.

"Don't", she held her hand up. "There is nothing good about you, Damon. Nothing", she added after a pause. "You are a monster who cares for himself only. And here I was thinking that there might be some humanity left inside you but you proved to me that I was so wrong". She left his side and joined Elena and Bonnie.

Damon was sitting alone in the woods his mind on the girl he had lost 145 years ago. He was so close to have her back but all his efforts were wasted. Stefan approached him.

"Katherine compelled you. That's why it was easy for you to let everything go. But my love for Silvia wasn't because of compulsion. I loved her before she was turned and after she became a vampire I still loved her. She never compelled me. It was real for me. I'll leave now", Damon said. Finally he stood up from his spot and left.

FLASH BACK 1864

"I can't be with you, Damon", Silvia's voice cracked as she pulled back from his embrace. "I am no more human, I am a fiend".

"I don't care", Damon shook his head. "I love you and I don't care if you are a vampire. You will always be the girl I love", he responded and kissed her passionately not caring for the blood that was smeared on her soft lips.
