"Marshall Lee!"
Fionna rushed to his side, and took him in her arms. Tears began to well up in her eyes. She snapped her head around and angrily glared at Cake.
"CAKE! How could you do this!?"
"Fionna . . . I . . . what's wrong with you?" Cake stepped back, confusion flooding her face.
"What's wrong with me? What's wrong with you! You don't just go around hurting people Cake, I don't understand what your problem is with him!"
"But . . . but he's a vampire . . ."
"No Cake, he's our friend and my boyfriend!"
"What?!" Anguish filled Cake's face.
"Fionna you don't understand, you can't just date him! We need to get to Gumball so he can –"
"Yeah, we need to get to Gumball so he can help Marshall Lee. You hurt him really badly . . ." Fionna turned to the unconscious boy in her arms. He looked so beautiful except for the pain on his face, and a small bead of sweat beginning on his forehead. She slowly brushed the hair from his face. Looking back up at Cake she kept her words short and harsh.
"Take us to Gumball."

Cake decided to just close her mouth until they got to Gumball's. If anyone could set Fionna straight, it'd be him. She slowly picked up her sister, who'd never been angry at her before and who'd always take her side, and that . . . monster and set them on her back.
Fionna deserves better! Cake thought to herself. If only she knew . . .

Gumball was sitting in his library when Peppermint Maid ran in.
"Prince Gumball! Prince Gumball! Fionna needs you, Marshall Lee is hurt!"
"What? I'll be right there." He quickly ran to his lab and found his emergency kit. Please, don't let me be too late. . . Gumball thought, but not about Marshall Lee.
As he finally arrived in the grand entrance, he saw that Fionna was cradling Marshall Lee with Cake off in the distance, with both girl's pleading eyes directed at Gumball – with two different meanings Gumball knew.
"What happened to him?" Gumball knelt down next to Marshall Lee, who had broken out in sweat from the pain.
"Cake crushed him." Fionna had her head down, with agony in her voice.
Why didn't he transform to save himself? Gumball knew that Marshall Lee's monster form was unbreakable, yet he didn't transform when Cake grabbed him. Odd.
"I'll do what I can. Let's bring him into the operating room."
"Operating room!?" Fionna looked up, worry spreading throughout her.
"Relax Fionna, it'll be minor. I just need some space without everybody."
"Nurse, please bring me a gurney."
"Right away, Prince Gumball!"
I'll have to take this chance to help them both from each other. Gumball thought.
He put Marshall Lee on the gurney, and quickly took him away – leaving Fionna and Cake standing alone.

Three hours, she thought. Why could it be taking so long?
Fionna was seated, holding an untouched tea that Peppermint Maid had brought her fifteen minutes after they had arrived. She hadn't talked to Cake since the operation had begun, and she was left worrying about Marshall Lee. Suddenly Gumball walked out of the double doors, wiping off his hands.
"Gumball, how is he?!" Fionna ran over to Gumball, grabbing on to his sleeve.
"Fine. But, I need you to come with me."
Oh Glob, what's wrong? Fionna held back tears as she was led to a room. It wasn't long before they turned into a room where she saw Marshall Lee lying down.
"Marshall Lee!" She began to run to him, but noticed something odd. He was chained to the bed. With a collar around his neck, attached to his handcuffs, which were attached to his leg cuffs.
"Gumball?"
Suddenly she heard the door lock behind her.
"Won't you please have a seat, Fionna?"
