Everybody held their breath. Vidic's reaction was unprecedented. His face was pale and he began to shake, he stood abruptly, his chair making a creaking noise as it was forcefully pushed backward with no warning. The Templar's arms were at his sides, fist clenched and knuckles white. Vidic ground his teeth.

The doctor's mind was racing with different thoughts; all directed at the man that he once thought he would never see again. He had made sure of it! He did! So why was he here? Why did the Grandmaster call Adolfo? He had nothing to show for work! No achievements as novice! He wasted his time helping Vidic rise to the top and was left behind!

The Templar's mind raged.

'No. NO. NO! It couldn't be! NO! Not him! NOT…HIM! I SABOTAGED YOUR TRAINING! You should have stayed in Russia! If you hadn't been born—Father shouldn't have married that whore! Why are you here?'

He asked the Grandmaster in a tight voice, his body was stiff, tension radiating like a gas stove on high.

"With all due respect sir, why is he here? I don't recall him having any clearance for this task. Nor the aptitude."

Dr. Vidic hated what the Grandmaster had done, undermining his efforts to keep Adolfo as far away as possible from himself! It was all for naught! Especially if the Subject was put under his jurisdiction there's no telling what he would do. Subject 17 would be a waste of their time, the Grandmaster needed to get that through his head. This factor only made keeping Warren's self in check all the more difficult as his mind screamed.

'You make me sick! Why are you here? I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU! Not him! HE DOESN'T BELONG HERE! Not him! I DESPISE YOU! Not him! YOU DISGUST ME! Stop it! WHY ARE YOU HERE?'

The Grandmaster gave Vidic a sharp look. 'Such an ingrate.'

However he wouldn't have to worry about him anymore after this meeting. He had much more important things to do than satisfy a subordinate that was so below him.

"Are you questioning my decision?" he asked.

Vidic sputtered and immediately tried to amend what he had said. His composure wasn't going to last at this rate. He didn't want Adolfo there! Having to sit and stare at him the whole time, not knowing who he was until it was too late! There was no reason for them to be going after Subject 17 again!

"This isn't fair! He doesn't belong here! I HATE YOU! Stop it! He makes me sick! WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME?! I earned my keep! Go away! I don't want you! I DON'T NEED YOU!'

"N-No sir! I just don't see any reason why we need the Subject again!" His breathing hitched, trying not to glare at Adolfo. This couldn't be happening to him. This situation was a nightmare in itself. Dr. Vidic never even dreamed of this happening! His worst case scenarios had involved other tasks. But to be toppled by his own brother that he fought so hard to keep away? The Templar's world was turned upside down by a simple decision the Grandmaster had made!

"I am very aware of Dr. Adolfo's clearance. I think that if you are to check, Dr. Vidic, you will find that I have given him the clearance needed for this project," the Grandmaster's said in a cool voice.

"And I am also aware of Dr. Adolfo's credentials and aptitude for this work. While his own research has led him in different areas, I understand that he spent a large portion of his time in Russia assisting you in your research. In fact, Dr. Vidic, he is the person most qualified to take on your work...if anything were to happen to you."

Dr. Vidic's mind was growing louder in his head. It was getting hard to concentrate. He needed to focus!

"This isn't fair! It isn't right! I HATE YOU! WHY DID YOU FOLLOW ME?!WHY WON'T YOU JUST DIE? I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU! I NEVER DID! You're in my way!"

The Grandmaster's voice was almost silky as he continued to speak; while the hard look in his eyes caused the others at the table to shift uncomfortably, unconsciously arranging themselves to lean away, distancing themselves from the doctor who held the Grandmaster's attention.

He felt like snapping. The tirade in Warren's mind was becoming a large crescendo and flooding his attentiveness like a dam.

'I'M NOT GOING TO PLAY ALONG! I HATE YOU! WHY DIDN'T YOU STAY IN RUSSIA? YOUDON'TBELONGHERE! IHATEYOU! IHATEYOU! IHATEYOU! IHATEYOU! IHATEYOU...'

"As far as Subject 17 is concerned...your input was not required for this decision. We will be taking steps to retrieve the Subject, and continuing the work involving the Subject."

Dr. Warren Vidic finally broke, he saw red, and he ranted. Violently slamming the table with his fist. The other elites jumped at the action. Dr. Hoshima whimpered, it was barely audible but there. Thach stood a little more behind Adolfo, he appeared to be somewhat hiding behind him because he could feel the raw fury directed at the new doctor.

The complete rage was evident in Vidic's voice.

"This is intolerable! Dr. Reighn—'' Vidic sneered; he knew the man preferred to be called Dr. Adolfo. "—is not familiar with the subject. I AM...and Subject 17 was previously under my jurisdiction. There is no reason for it to be taken from my oversight and given to him—''

The Grandmaster's face was expressionless as he said, "Dr. Vidic...it appears obvious to me that you disapprove of the direction the Order is taking regarding Subject 17. Dr. Adolfo WILL be taking the lead on this project. If you find you cannot work with him; I suggest you let your superiors know soon, so we can reassign you to the position that you will be most useful in."

The Grandmaster gave a chilly smile at that point. "Please, let us know what you decide to do..."

Warren's mind continued to seethe chaotically. The piercing volume calling his attention, the doctor was ignoring it as best as he could. However, the uproar was disturbing his actions badly. This would be Dr. Vidic's downfall. Keeping the emotion sealed, bottling the frustration, the stress, dealing with disappointment and anxiety, plus the helpless sense of failure after Desmond's escape. It all boiled up to finally burst and spill over at the most inappropriate time.

'HateyouFAILUREhateyouhateyouHATEYOUHATEYOUhateyouINMYWAYnevercaredaboutyouWASTEOFTIMEfailure…'

"Grandmaster please! Consider other options! RE-CAPTURING SUBJECT 17 WOULD BE A WASTE OF TIME THAT WE ARE LOSING TO THE ASSASSINS!" Vidic emphasized his point deafeningly and without hesitation.

He knew he was digging himself a hole, except at this point the Templar didn't care at all. Warren was more focused on saving the Order from making a mistake than his own well being at the moment.

The elites had all discreetly scooted their seats a little distance away from the madman who dared oppose the Grandmaster. No one had ever had the guts to do that before. Absolutely none. If you were to ask any Templar they would rather shoot themselves than defy their Grandmaster. It was taboo; anyone with common sense knew that to even challenge him was asking for torment and death. Since the situation appeared to be on a personal level it seemed more likely that Dr. Vidic would be tortured. His death passed off as the execution of a traitor.

Adolfo's face held a grim expression. This wasn't going to end well. He knew it, Thach knew it. Everyone else did. He hoped it would be over soon. Maybe he could attempt to convince his brother again to join him. After all there was still a chance. One more try wouldn't hurt. The Father of Understanding was known to be generous at times like these, rare as they were. Thach shifted uneasily behind him. Adolfo touched the BLACKWATCH guard's hand to settle him. Thach glanced at him and stilled.

Adolfo made a feeble effort to stop Vidic's outburst "Warren wait we could—" but the man cut him off, his face was red. A vein showing in his neck.

"NO! If you want a Subject so bad why don't you use Thach?!" the question was asked nastily, venom in every word.

The Grandmaster's voice became icy as he sharply reprimanded Warren to put him in his place.

"I think, Dr. Vidic, that you are forgetting yourself. You certainly seem to be forgetting that YOU do not chose for the Order. The option of using Kenway as a subject was considered, and decided that it was not a viable option. This…antagonism towards Dr. Adolfo is…unseemly. It appears that you will not work with Dr. Adolfo willingly; so I have another position that can be best filled by you at this time."

Vidic slammed his hands down on the tabletop. "I will not be shunted off to some forgotten wasteland to rot while HE…" he pointed an accusing finger at the man who sat at the end of the table, "…interferes with my work!" His voice had been rising steadily, and now was a shout aimed at the room at large.

A soft voice came from Dr. Adolfo. "Some forgotten wasteland…such as Russia, perhaps? I do not think they would do such a thing, Warren."

Dr. Hoshima nervously cut in to explain the rejection of using Thach Kenway. "Thach is not an option because of problem's that occurred during his trial run in the Animus…''

The woman flipped through pages of notes in a folder.

"In the file staff in the Animus room declared that many of the memories were insignificant and therefore would be a waste of time to put him in the Animus or recalibrate it. His genetic code only leads to earlier memories of Haytham Kenway's childhood and initial birth with the death of his father which is Subject 17's ancestor Edward Kenway." She promptly closed the file.

"Because of these circumstances and his occupation it was decided that Thach be assigned as patrol and bodyguard of Desmond Miles to prevent escape and injury to the Subject."

Vidic merely glanced at the BLACKWATCH guard, he knew Desmond's capabilities. Or at least he thought he did. Warren would make everyone realize that this was a brash move on their part. He had to or he would die trying, however Dr. Vidic didn't know how true this would be until it was too late. Far too late.

"I can't let you do this!" the Templar seemed to deflate as his efforts were more futile and hopeless by the minute.

The Grandmaster looked on without pity. 'Such arrogance. I will make an example of you.' He put Dr. Warren Vidic in his place once and for all within several sentences.

"Warren Vidic! I will not hesitate to remind you that this behavior is not tolerated under my RULE! You are to follow orders to the letter! I don't care if you desire this or not! but I have better things to do than operate to the wishes of a SURBORDINATE!'' his tone indicated that the doctor was on thin ice and that his patience with this man was broken.

"You are wasting my time and testing my patience! Enough of this impudence! Know your rank and remain in it! DO NOT CHALLENGE MY DECISION!"

Very abruptly the conference ended with a short dismissal from the Grandmaster. Vidic felt empty inside. Everyone else had quickly scurried off like frightened sheep, they didn't want to be near the person who had incurred the Grandmaster's wrath and rough ending of their meeting. The less they associated themselves with him, the better chance of survival, and less likeliness that they would be affected as well. Adolfo was the last one left. Thach had gone off in search of food. Dr. Vidic exited the room, he couldn't deal with his brother right now, he just couldn't. He could tell that this incident did not bode well for himself. The Templar stood outside the room.

Warren was now out of the Grandmaster's favor. What had he done? Why did he do it? More importantly, what would be the punishment? Unfortunately the Templar would find out soon. Very soon.
