Third Person POV
The anbus rush the dying Yuuki towards the hospital. Her small frame working hard to force ragged breaths into her lungs. Kakashi reluctantly stays behind to help defend the village from Orochimaru's attack. Wanting nothing more than to be at his love's side, Kakashi tears down foe after foe alongside his fellow Leaf shinobi, Gai.
Medics rush to the two anbu as they burst through the hospital doors. The battle has yielded few injuries so far, so there was little competition for attention. They quickly transfer Yuuki's body to a rolling bed, which they roll to one of the empty rooms.
"Patient is having difficulty breathing," one of the attendants reports the head medic.
"She's extremely malnourished and dehydrated," another states.
"There are many open wounds present, most showing signs of infection."
"Signs of repeated sexual trauma."
"Alright. Let's focus on stabilizing her. Get a breathing tube and an IV," he commands. "The rest of you, begin treating the infections. Once that's finished, we need to move on to the next patients. It's going to be a busy night."
The medics work quickly and Yuuki is soon hooked up to an IV and a breathing tube. Her infections are cleaned and bandaged, and she is moved to the upper levels where the ICU is located.
Kakashi's POV
Yuuki was lifted from my arms by the anbu and rushed away. It took an incredible amount of willpower not to rush after them, but I knew the village needed me. As a shinobi, it was my duty to protect this village with my life. I stood beside Gai in the arena, searching for the next opponent.
"Kakashi! That guy is moving. Do we chase!?" Gai questioned loudly as he noticed Orochimaru making his escape. He had just killed the Hokage and he was responsible for Yuuki's terrible condition. I wanted so bad to chase the former Leaf shinobi and make him pay, but...
"No, Gai! Wait," I told him. We stood across the arena from a Sand shinobi and someone dressed in an anbu outfit. Immediately, I knew it was Kabuto, Orochimaru's right-hand man.
"Ah...when you don't have good battleground information, you don't like to move around much for fear of falling into the enemy's snare," Kabuto snided.
"We agree with those words a hundred times over. There could be traps, and unseen areas. And it's wrong to lose sight of an enemy. That's what a Leaf shinobi is." Gai said seriously, which was quite uncharacteristic for him.
"After all, you are right before us, Kabuto."
"Completely exposed," Kabuto sneers, pulling the mask off to reveal his face.
"Hey, what do we do?" the Sand shinobi questions Kabuto.
"Slowly retreat," Kabuto breathes.
"Now, you're going to run away from me?" I ask tauntingly, attempting to antagonize him.
"Right away, because you will just copy all my secrets. Your eye isn't as good as a member of the Uchiha clan, but..." Kabuto calculates. I glare at the cold, calculating man as harshly as possible. He was also responsible for my Yuuki. "So..." Kabuto performs some hand signs and he and the Sand shinobi disappear in a haze of smoke.
Almost immediately, the Sound and Sand shinobi retreated from the village. The able-bodied Leaf shinobi gathered around our Hokage's body, myself included.
After taking care of the Hokage's body, I rushed to the hospital. I needed to see Yuuki, to make sure she was alright. I walked through the hospital doors and it was a madhouse. So many shinobi had been injured in the battle, but there were few causalities.
"Excuse me," I coughed, getting the attention of a tired-looking nurse.
"Do you need treatment, as well?" she sighed.
"No. I was looking for someone. Haburi Yuuki, can you tell me where she's located?" I ask, trying to hide some of the urgency in my voice.
"Oh, yes, that poor girl. Lucky to be alive, she is," she mumbles. She riffles through some papers and finds a clipboard. My heart nearly stops. She's alive! "She's on the top floor, in intensive care," she says, looking at the clipboard. "I'll show you the way." I follow the nurse up multiple flights of stairs until we come to the door that the nurse declares as Yuuki's. We enter the room and I nearly sob at the sight.
"What...can you tell me of the extent of her injuries?" The nurse picks up the chart at the foot of Yuuki's bed and reads it grimly.
"According to her medical charts, she was extremely malnourished and dehydrated. Her lungs had begun collapsing, also. She had lacerations on her wrists resembling handcuffs, as well as whip marks across her back and stab wounds on her stomach. This poor girl was tortured quite brutally. Until recently, it seems, she was taken care of well enough to keep her alive. Most of the more recent injuries were infected. Also..." she looks at me for a moment, her eyes uncertain.
"Also what?" I demand.
"Well, according to the charts, there were signs of multiple sexual traumas. Whoever had her captive, forced himself upon her repeatedly. If you ask me, they took care of her just for the sick entertainment." The nurse looked utterly disgusted at the thought. I can't say I wasn't. They had...raped her. Those bastards had raped and tortured my sweet Yuuki. My fists clenched tightly.
"She'll make a full recovery, though. She certainly has a strong spirit," the nurse chirps optimistically. I quietly pull a chair next to Yuuki's bed, take a seat, and gently grip her fragile hand. The nurse leaves the room silently, and I allow myself to cry.
"Yuuki... Yuuki, please wake up soon. Oh, Kami, I've missed you... Orochimaru will pay...he'll pay for what he's done to you, Yuuki. Please wake up...I love you, Yuuki..." I don't know when, but at some point I fell asleep with my head on Yuuki's bed, her hand still in mine.
I stayed by Yuuki's bed for the next two days. They had taken the breathing tube away the day after she was admitted. All of the medics kept commenting on how strong she was, and I couldn't help but feel proud. She was mine. It wasn't official, but it would be as soon as she was awake, provided she said yes. I had gone eight years without her, I refused to go a second more. Kami, I sound pathetic. She's not even my girlfriend. But, I love her.
"Yuuki...wake up soon, so I can ask you to be mind." Sappy, I know. I kissed her lightly on the forehead. "The Hokage's funeral is today. I'll be back right after. I love you, Yuuki." With that, I left for the Third's funeral.
