"Liz! Come on! Clint's waiting for us out front." I called into her room in the apartment. She came jogging out.
"Alright, lets go." She replied headed out the door. I followed closely behind and was greeted out front by Clint and a black Lexus. I nodded.
"Not a bad car choice." I told him. He mock bowed and ushered us inside. I called shotgun and Liz took the backseat. The drive was relatively quiet until Liz's phone rang
I'm just a kid and my life is a nightmare.
"I pardon the shouting match that is to occur." I told Clint, knowing the receiver of that ringtone all to well. He tilted his head in confusion when Liz picked up.
"Hello mother.." She growled. Clint nodded in understanding. I shrugged. Liz and her mother's phone conversations usually ended in a mass screaming match. There was one simple rule when it came to Liz after one: Don't talk about it. I learned the hard way when we first met and that was the only argument we've really had.
"No mom, I still don't have a boyfriend. I don't care! Mom... I might be your eldest daughter, so what?!" Liz argued. I knew this topic. Liz's mom wants her to marry some rich guy and give her tons of grandkids. This is the exact opposite of what Liz wants to do, which is to become a Hollywood actress and be it's wild card. That being she wanted to be the only "real" actress out there. I didn't doubt she could do this, I occasionally shot it questioning glances, but that was it.
Clint drove up to the outside of the theater. Liz and her mom were still arguing.
"Thanks Clint. Listen, I might work late so if I'm not with Liz at four, leave without me." He nodded and I jabbed Liz in the shoulder. She got out and continued to argue with her mom.
"Mom, listen to yourself! You sound so 18th century!" Liz exclaimed as we got out. Darren and Alex were standing at the door when we got there.
"What's with Liz?" Darren asked. I shot him a glance.
"Arguing with Mummy Bennett." I explained. Both boys nodded and walked inside. I walked over to Liz and asked her to hand over the phone. She smirked, knowing what I was about to do.
"Look, Liz, unlike you, wants to make something of here life and in order to do that, she needs you to fuck off, and move on. She'll talk to you after she gets back from her actual job. A buh-bye." I stated into the phone, hanging up.
"Thanks Sam. I really can't stand that women sometimes."
"And yet you wonder how it feels for the rest of us." I replied with a smirk. She pushed me aside and we walked into the theater. Then disaster struck.
I'm on the Highway to Hell.
I glanced at Liz, who was on the verge of laughing.
"Speaking of my devil." I muttered picking up.
"What Stark?"
"Hey Sam. Listen, one of the lights you installed misfired, mind coming to fix it?" I rolled my eyes.
"After I'm done at the theater, sure. Because unlike you, I have a job."
"Alright, I'll send a car." I could feel his smirk. I hung up.
"Someone woke up on the snarky side of the bed." Liz noted. I shrugged.
"Guess I'm in the mood." We walked into the theater and the cast and crew were running around. I flagged down Alex.
"What the hell exploded?" I asked. Alex rolled his eyes.
"Anything and everything." I looked over at Liz.
"Looks like we've got work to do." Liz nodded.
"A yup."
